Sensational cakes low prices and very friendly personellI and my wife stopped there yesterday because after having had only very small cups of coffee elsewhere we were stunned by the German-Style large Latte Macchiato glasses.So after a long tourist-day in Haarlem I wanted to have one of these large glasses. Therefore we went back to this café and had on of the mentioned and a piece of cake.To cut a long story short: It was the best cake my wife and I have ever had (banana-caramel-cream). And while cakes in other cafés are often 6 or 7 Euros, it cost only 3,50!!!We are definitely going back there again in the last days of our holiday.Go there and try their cakes. They make them themselves. Its a MUST!!!

With our large pot of tea for two I had the very best scone of my life (Scone of the month, rasberry, freshly baked and with real clotted cream.Thank you, Babette.

The chai tea was phenomenal but my cake was dry, was supposed to be carrot cake but onoy tasted like cinnamon cake.

The place looks amazing.First time cakes were very good, second we wasnt so lucky but still ok.

Had a nice afternoon tea. Lots to eat, sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and cakes. So much we had to take some home! Huge choice of teas and the pot was refilled whenever we asked.

We recently had lunch at "Bij Babette". We were excited to have tea there but unfortunately the experience turned out to be a disappointment.The shop is located on the corner of a quaint little street in Haarlem. The interior is cute with an old charm feel but unfortunately the food was not what we expected. We were barely seated, and while still taking of our jackets, the waiterss asked if we are ready to order without even having seen the menu.The waitress forgot one order and simply said that she forgot. The bread was dry and stale and definitely not a BLT "tea sandwich".The whole experience was not like an English tea should be. We expected English tea sandwiches and not a stale "American style BLT" with a tough crust, badly cut lettuce and tomatoes that were all over the place with every bite you took. I lived in the UK and very familiar with English tea and BLTs are not part of the English tea repertoire.The waitress was friendly but had no serving skills. When we ordered a second glass of juice, she wanted to remove the half full glass to replace it with the new order. This is not done when the glass is still half full. The website is not informative and apparently not up to date because the telephone number was out of service.Unfortunately its not a place I can recommend or will go back to.

High tea kind of place with good cakes and drinks menu!! I had carrot cake and chai latte which tasted amazing!! Such a small, beautiful and queens view cafe. Worth a visit for a different experience!!

Such a nice place with a lot of beautiful details, very British.There are a lot of different desserts and drinks. Prices are quite expensive. The waitress was very friendly.

For my birthday we went here for a cream tea and it was lovely as always. It was a big surprise they sang happy birthday for me and gave me a brownie cupcake. So so sweet.

Incredible service and experience. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We did the afternoon classic and loved all the tea and snacks. Overall great experience, would recommend.

What a surprise! I planned a last minute visit to Haarlem and went looking for a place to start my adventure. As I passed Bij Babette I just had to peek in and check it out and Im glad I did!!! Everything from the music to the interior just spoke to me! It also helped that the two ladies at the counter greeted me like I was a long lost friend and the three of us spent my time there chatting as they served other guests and I enjoyed everything I ordered. The Banoffee pie was to die for and I blame whoever made it for my new obsession. Ill definitely come back soon!

Cute little English corner café. Nice coffee, tea and love the cakes! It can be very busy and a bit cramped though, but still a lovely place.

I used to live in Haarlem and this was my almost daily stop for some delicious scones. Scones arent what they used to be..they used to be huge, tasty and well cooked, now they turned to a cold & small ball of dough! In my opinion the cheesecake is the best on the menu, skip the rest, skip also sitting there especially when busy, spare yourself the aweful service...the place smells humid and stuffy..the owner is very professional (love her british sense of humour and the funny texts she writes on the front door board each day...the staff that used to work there was great as well... As for now, youll be "helped" by a couple of lazy, full of attitude, completely overwhelmed, rude & totally unprofessional waitresses... Babette, your place is original and cute, love the concept, but plz let the air in and the lazy and entitled employees out..

Attitude and service from staff was very friendly when serving you, however they are definitely not attentive and it seems you can wait for a decade before they came over to serve. So high level of patience is needed or you have lotsa time on hand to just sit and wait. I came with expectations seeing the good reviews but have to say the cakes presented to me was nothing called presentable and taste was rather normal. Coffee was not bad though.

Maybe a bit of a girly place but the food and theas are quite nice. The cakes are like the service... Somewhat too sweet.

‘One of the best place for scones in Netherlands’We came across bij Babette when we visited Haarlem a few months back. We got some fresh scones for take away and the moment we had it, we were amazed. The combination with jam and cream was so awesome. Since then we never had a week without discussing those scones l. And, yesterday we decided to travel all the way to haarlem to eat the scones.I believe the best time to have the fresh scones without the hustle of finding a place to sit (insideis around 10 in the morning. This place is otherwise very busy after noon (atleast on weekends). We ordered traditional scones and enjoyed them with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream (which has consistency of butter). The scones were soft inside and warm; definitely the taste we were missing for weeks. I have had scones from many different bakeries and cafes in netherlands, but this one is legendary. As it is a tea room with english decode, I had white tea Gaiety which was recommended by the staff as it goes well with the scones. And that was true! My wife had chai latte which she enjoyed. We also ordered food because we wanted to explore other items in the menu. We got leek and cheese pie, and Cheddar cheese and onion chutney on baked potato. Both of them were tasty. I must mentioned that the lady who were baking got the fresh leek and all the ingredients from the market in front of us and prepared the amazing pie. I highly recommend their savoury pie. They were quite different and much more tasty that i imagined. We also wanted to try cakes but we were so full. We came back in the afternoon and got chocolate cake and banoffee pie as take away (the tearoom was full). They were good and special mention goes to chocolate cake which had right amount of sweetness to our liking. Love this little cafe! Amazing selection of teas, and really delicious cakes and pastries. I love their chicken and mushroom pie in particular.

Real scones!!Scones at least as good as my own with real clotted cream and a very nice homemade jam. Not cheap but totally worth it! Highly recommended!

Very very good place. The second are homemade and delicious, staff is carrying, the owner treat her customers very softly and is very nice. The marmelades are homemade and very tasty. The place is a bit too kitshy but is funny in the pure "my queen" style. we will go back very often. A plus for tourists, the staff and owners speaks several languages including French

Lovely lovely lovely cafe! Great tea selections and my personal favourite is lady grey. If you have not heard of it, and if you like earl grey tea, give it a try.Great selection of freshly made cakes too. And gosh, make sure you try their scones, it tastes just like home. If you’re craving for a taste of Christmas, get the spiced scones! It’s like heaven.

A good selection of tea and afternoon snacks. I like the scones and sandwiches but a few of the desserts were a bit too sweet. NO CREDIT CARDS, so make sure you have some cash with you when you visit.

This place is fantastic. They have a nice cozy atmosphere that welcomes you as if it would be your own home. The tea selection is amazing and the afternoon tea with endless tea is to die for <3Every cent you spend is worth it!!!

If you want a true British tea experience in Haarlem, youre in the right place. The cakes are amazingly good! Ive tried the cheesecakes, which are my absolute favourite, and the apple pie, that is awesome as well and with real fresh apples! Cappuccinos are really well made (and Im Italian, so trust me about it), and the tea choice is incredibly large, although I do not like tea so I cannot say much about it. You can also have a true British afternoon tea, with the classical pastries and scones which look really nice. Prices are good and the staff is really kind and nice! Definitely recommended!

Used to be a great place. Last time I was there, there was only 1 other table with 2 people. Staff still hadnt acknowledged me after 20 minutes, after looking me dead in the eyes multiple times. We walked out before ordering. I dont mind waiting but staff not even greeting you and completely ignoring you for 20 minutes is just madness.I know the owner is awesome and I hope shes able to find the right staff to support her. She deserves better than this, and except for the service it is a good place. Their coffee, tea, cakes & sandwiches taste great, if you are able to order them...

Take it from an Englishman, these cream teas are legit! Peaceful atmosphere, friendly service. We will come back to try the rest of the menu!

We happened upon this ship with delicious looking cakes in the window and a aroma of hot tea!! So glad we decided to have lunch there. We had Sweet Potato Soup (if I remember correctlythat was yummy! We also had a sandwich made with goat cheese, thinly sliced apples, and drizzled with honey! It too was delicious. I had a difficult time deciding on which tea to have as they had a large selection of teas that all sounded very good. Many of there tend are unique blends that make a tasty treat. The atmosphere was very pleasant and quaint and the service was great.

We stopped here for a lovely pot of tea. Wonderfully pretty, quirky and so relaxing I didnt want to leave! ❤️💙💜

We had the afternoon tea for €22,50 p.p. The sandwiches were decent, the cakes were nice and the scones were great. Definitely enough food. The tea was OK but not really the quality like you can get at a tea shop like Simon Lévelt. Weirdly unprofessional service: while we were halfway through our pot of tea, the waitress took the lid of our teapot because she needed it for another table!?

If you are in Haarlem this tea shop is a must! Very cozy and the people that work there are so kind. The scones are delicious and the servings are the perfect size. Timmy, the manager, was so friendly and added such charm to the place. I would recommend stopping at this place to anyone, right around the corner from the Corrie Ten Boom museum!

Very nice, cozy place, with great cakes and a nice variety of tea. Friendly stuff, and the owner is also a really kind, funny lady. I had an amazing cake there, once, with white chocolate and raspberry. So i went one day and asked her about it, and she told me to come back in the weekend, so she can bake it for me. Which she did, and i had two big slices, amazing! Try the scones with cream and jam, as well. Not to miss!

Friendly service and pretty setting...but baked goods are not FRESH. Was served frozen English muffins still cold..They comped us and sub scones that were stale. Even the waitress was mortified when we complained.!? Crazy baker in the kitchen?
