Contemporary Italian eatery providing Neapolitan, wood-fired pizzas, plus small plates & gelato.
Recommended this place for dinner with 5 others, out of 6, only 3 would come back.. i ordered Brussels sprout pizza, crust was ok, Brussels sprouts were burnt bad, nothing too impressive
Great pizza! You won’t go wrong by eating here
Ordered a margherita pizza. It was very tiny and thin with hardly any cheese. When I say "hardly any" I mean there were 5 or 6 dabs of cheese that covered approx 5% of the surface area. The pizza cost $17.50 - which is insane for how small it was. Ingredients were OK and the crust was actually pretty good but I think it is not enough food for a small child. I would not recommend this place, it was a ripoff.
This was my first experience at Bigalora and I was sadly underwhelmed. I was specifically in search of a good wood-fired pizza. For the price, it really wasn’t that great. The arugula salad & agrodolce pizza were nothing to write home about. The cocktail I had was aperol-based, and I think they could’ve done better on that too. All in all, the best thing was the calamari—but it wasn’t enough to convince me to choose it over Crispelli’s or Neopapalis (RIP). Would have liked to have seen better veg options. I think their whole pizza menu seemed lackluster to me.
Pricey but solid food options. A party scene that allows wedding reservations. Very attentive and courteous waitors and waitresses.
Fun early evening experience. My guests and I tried a sampling of appetizers and drinks. It worked well. Sat outside on the patio which made for a really pleasant early evening. The waiter did a really good job without being overly present.
Amazing food and amazing service! Our server (I think his name was Shanewas so kind! I am gluten free, and he recommended items from the menu that he thought I would like, and he did not disappoint. He made my day. It was probably the best gluten free pizza I have ever had, too!
Bigalora is a regular go to for our family. They have great appetizers, pizzas, and Italian entree options. They also have a large craft beer and wine selection as part of thier full bar.
We grabbed two pizzas to go and found a shady spot in Lillie Park to enjoy them. The pistachio pesto white pizza was incredible!
If I could leave them zero stars I would, but I’m forced to leave a star, in order to leave a review. Got seated at 7:40 with no service insight till 7:55. Then we put in the order we requested to space out our courses to be brought out first, and her response was I’ll try. Are you kidding me?! Im Disappointed & shock. Especially that I live in the Plymouth area.
Good pizza, and amazing staff. Definitely worth a try!
First time trying this place, walked in by myself on a Tuesday to sit at a nearly empty bar top to have a bite. The frantic bartender let me know Id be waiting a long time because she was so busy. Not very welcoming, I didnt want to trouble her and left =(
Very nice place with a great atmosphere. The pizza was very good and the service was amazing.
I quite like the pizza here. Its different. They serve two types. One with red sauce, one with white sauce. The one with white sauce is more of an alfredo. The one with red sauce is more of your typical fair. Im never disappointed with the atmosphere. As long as Im seated outside, come to think of it. I dont think Ive ever been seated inside. The garage has a nice area for the cooler months. As well as obviously the summer ones too when they open up the garage doors.
Came here Saturday night and was extremely disappointed with the whole experience and the food. Service was very slow and took forever to get waited on. Food took an hour to show up to the table after waiting 20 minutes to see a waiter and put an order in. Once we got our 3 pizzas after an hour was they were not good and undercooked so they were extremely soft and chewy. The whole point of wood fired is for the pizza to be crispy. After everyone at the table had a slice we got a couple boxes and left. For an $80 meal with tip I expected so much better with the service and the food. The place was half empty too so I’m not sure what the issue was. We were there for a total of an hour and 40 minutes but an hour of that alone was just waiting on the food after putting the order in. I don’t plan on ever going back here. They used to be so much better.
Great food and even better service from Jack R, I will be back again! Thank you.
You have some of the best waiters and waitresses in outer Ann Arbor here, if not the best. The service is wonderful, and the outdoor dining views are spectacular. The food is what the rest of Ann Arbor should aspire to be. I definitely recommend any of the pizzas, and the small plates are always a great choice.
Man, I was really disappointed with Bigalora and our visit. I didnt feel the staff was very attentive, several food items were flat out burnt (Brussels should be somewhat greenthe pizza had whole slices of just bread, and the draft beer was crazy expensive. 9$ a draft for a short is unacceptable and double the price in most bars. I am not likely to come back or recommend this location to anyone.
Small Plates and Salads super solid here..The pizza is a miss. They need to work on crust structure here. Well Done,EZ cheese with burnt crust ends still came out super soggy. Thats a problem. Nice spot but they need to keep improving their pie. Lastly, i ordered Don Julio on the rocks. Ive never paid more than 15 in downtown Chicago. Usually 12. They charged me $20 as if i was poolside at Caesars Palace. I made a stink. Manager made it 17. Ridiculous.
Nice location and nice atmosphere when the weather is good. The place is deceptively big with its indoor/outdoor seating area. The drinks were good but the food was just ok. Calamari was decent but not as much flavor as I was anticipating. The single barrel old fashioned was delicious however.Parking can be a bit of a problem because there are some other popular businesses on site and the lot is small.
Lots of options. I got a chopped salad and a Mediterranean pizza and put the salad om the pizza and it was so so good. They had a fun kids menu for my cousin too. And lots of seating options for all weather. Staff was so friendly. And my little cousin said that they had the best lemonade hes ever had.
Extremely good pizza and the Brussels sprouts are maybe the best Ive ever had, and a crazy awesome selection of Michigan beers. We love this place... but the calamari was not so great.
Our pizza was burnt and black. I understand wood fired pizza will have some blackening, but this was straight up burnt across the entire bottom and inedible. Disappointing, especially since we drove 35 minutes to try it and didnt realize it was burnt until we returned home another 35 minutes later. Chicken parmesan was ok, but I wouldnt spend the money for it again. We will not be returning.
Family dinner here. Kids had pasta dishes and they were pretty good. Wife and I each tried a different pizza, salumeria for me and margarite for her. The pizza toppings were spectacular; however the tomato sauce was watery and the crust was like soggy paper on both pizzas. One or two more minutes in the oven would have made the crust about perfect. The flour used for the pizza dough was good grade and perfect for wood fired ovens, just needed a little more care and attention cooking it.
This is my go to place to catch dinner and a drink with friends in Ann Arbor. Terrific menu and service plus I love the Bigalora Manhattan. The new team here led by Jason is doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work!
We chose this place for our wedding rehearsal dinner and were so glad that we did. We worked with JT and he helped us every step of the way with planning our menu, and making sure that everything ran smoothly the night of! The waitstaff were very nice and attentive. The food was amazing and our guests couldnt stop talking about how delicious it was. Will definitely be coming back!
Second time order from this place.first time very good, but today big disappointed both my pizza over cook and burn staff didnt clean the over when they break my pizza(I am just to lazy go back ask for refund)after finish eating my hand are very dirty
Food was great! Tried many sides, worth mentioning was the roasted Brussel sprouts and fried calamari. My pizza had the pepperoni, sausage, and prosciutto. Every bite was enjoyable. Place looked clean and the waitstaff was friendly. Little pricey but everyone had a great time and meal.
Amazing pizza! All was good and a very friendly server named John, with the Mom arm tatt, made the dinner extra nice.
I don’t like posting one stars in fact this is my first one ever actually but I was just so taken back by the customer service and the quality of food last night that I feel like I need to let people know exactly what happened 😭 my friend and I ordered a pizza and we went with a recommendation of a staffs favorite which was probably my mistake because it was the spicy white pizza not realizing just how spicy it would be when she said it wouldn’t be spicy at all, well it was terribly spicy and when we got it we realized it didn’t make us feel good so we called 15 minutes to close and we also ordered breadsticks which she forgot to put in the order so when I called and asked if we could swap the pizza and reminded her of the breadsticks and apologized and said the kitchen is closed. Sorry. So we doused the entire pizza in Marina sauce just so we could eat the food and our stomachs ended up hurting all night :/ thoroughly disappointed Bigalora…. Unsure if we will be returning our business here after the attitude and robot like costumer service.
Quality went down ALOT. Got this pizza delivered today - completely burnt. Cheese is burnt, Crust is burnt. worse pizza we ever got anywhere! How would ANYONE put this thing in a box to be delivered for a customer? And it costs $15!!! Are you kidding me? Management should take a serious look on who works there . Went to the garbage.
One of the few places in town that offers an outdoor, heated igloo. The waiter is masked and never comes into your igloo. The igloo has a little window (can be zipped shut when not in usethat they use to pass you your food / drinks. Everything we ordered was very good. We usually go there for pizza but ordered pasta this time around and were very happy that we did.
Everything was good enough for what it costs. The pasta was not so expensive but was tasty and with good portion. The pistachio pizza was exceptional. Salad was also good. This place is an affordable but delicious Italian fare.
If you want to taste how Italian wood fired pizza, come here. Even the pasta was WoW. The atmosphere is casual and the staff are great.
I visited Bigalora near my house in Annarbor for the first time and I have to say the food was very good. I shared a pepperoni pizza and a chicken Parmigiano. The service was good and the food came hot and fresh. I will definitely go back.
The beer and the pizza were incredible! Perfect size personal pizza for me. And the service was great and very quick. Would highly recommend
Service was spectacular! They have gluten free pizza and pasta! Awesome drink choices. If you are mosquito prone, try to avoid sitting outside after the sun sets.
Absolutely delicious from the appetizers to the dessert. I highly recommend. Can’t wait to be back. The pizza, sweet potatoes, gelato, and fettuccine were 5/5! The service was excellent. The outdoor seating was perfect.
Loved their pizzas and beer! If you are not a beer drinker and want traditional type of drinks, they are very limited.Great pizza specials. We took 5 pizzas home for $50!
Great looking steak cook perfectly however it was a bland steak not worth $19. My guest to dinner got spaghetti and meatballs $15.50 that was very bland too I tasted it my experience had the potential for good food but lacked flavor.
Everything looks and tastes delicious here!Update: In the age of COVID-19, so good to know they have Touchless Payment options, tables spread almost 10 feet apart, single-use menus, and other enhancements. They are on top of it here!
Great spot for pizza and some of the apps are really good. One of the better spots in Ann Arbor
Come here for the pizza. Everything else is....well, its not pizza. Their dough is fantastic and the toppings are really yummy. I tried their filet mignon and lets just say filet was so tiny, I couldnt believe it. It was also one of the most expensive things on the menu. I liked the service and ambiance and pizza. I would like to come back and try more bread and pizza!
Today we met friends for lunch at Bigalora. It is a very nice place with a large enclosed patio and a large outside patio. We sat at table 37 near the door to the enclosed patio. That atmosphere is very comfortable and cozy. We ordered a minestrone and a seasonal squash soup to start, which was tasty, and then a Crispy Brussels Sprouts pizza for two which was also very tasty. I had a Negroni cocktail and the wife had a Mimosa along with the others. Our friends had the Italian Breakfast and the Bacco Breakfast pizza which both also looked good. All ended in the clean plate club!
Really really good and healthy pizza here. Not oily and soggy, its just the right crisp and tastes like no other pizza. Salads are of big porportions, prices are on the higher end a bit, but quality costs money. Service was top notch as well. It does get pretty busy on afternoons, especially weekends, but if you want to try a pizza like no other, its worth the time and money in my opinion. I honestly dont know what to recommend cause myself, Ive tried just about all the pizzas and they are all good. Youll just have to go there and see what your taste buds desire!
We went during restaurant week - got there at 5:30 before it was crowded. Great food and great staff. Enclosed patio could be warmer, so definitely glad we had sweaters!
I’ve been here a few times and every time I go I’ve loved it! This a great atmosphere with workers and management to reflect it. If you go here be sure to ask for Caramia as your waitress. She is wonderful.
I had a super fresh arugula salad to start with. I split the prosciutto pizza with arugula and mozzarella and the specialty pasta which were both amazing! Service was very fast considering they have special ovens that only take 90 seconds to make pizza! Would definitely come back.
Very friendly service, however it was very slow. It was slow to get water, to get a beer, to order food, and then get our food. The food is okay. Its better than average, but its not a place that we want to return to. They have a great tap list, however I think some of the kegs have been on tap too long and the beer was old.
Love the pizzas, usually just go for the plan-jane cheese & red sauce, the farm egg is also tasty! We usually have pretty good service & they have a huge draft selection. I love how they leave extra water on the table :)
