Big Mike's Soul Food in Myrtle Beach

We came here because we Google the restaurant and saw happy people on YouTube.The customer service is spectacular. My wifes birthday was Friday so we went by there. Lord what an amazing place. We were treated like family.On our anniversary next year, we will be back!! God bless you Mike and the staff. We had a wonderful time!!!

First off, if they have this type of table cloths, you already know it’s gonna be good. I was in Myrtle Beach for a work trip and stopped for lunch between meetings. Had to go lie down in my car and unbutton my pants for about 20 min afterwards, so plan accordingly.

Late night take out. Stopped in right before close and they were nice enough to still serve me. Chicken was great, some of the best I’ve had in the area. Just here on vacation but had to make sure I stopped by. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing food, friendly service and seating us at the accessible table with our service dog was a big plus. Delicious ribs and southern cooking!

A small, casual restaurant for terrific comfort food. Friendly service even with being very busy. The food has a home cook feel. Very tasty and fresh. The fried chicken was perfectly tender and moist. The yams were to die for. They offer take out which could be ordered ahead for quick service Restaurant itself doesn’t have a lot of tables so possibly take out is the answer if you don’t want a wait at peak times. I would definitely recommend Big Mike’s and will return.

Still the BEST! Three years of coming to Myrtle Beach and Big Mikes Soul Food is the FIRST place we eat every year! The consistency has stayed the same! Below is the Shrimp Boil, complete with Shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage and a boiled egg!

We are from TN here in Myrtle Beach for a vacation. Our daughter sent us a TikTok showing the food and how good it was, so we had to try it.We appreciate being able to sit in the restaurant to eat. The staff greeted us and let us sit where we wanted. They had great personalities. [And we noticed Big Mike from the pic was sitting at a table :)]We got the Meat & 3; Fried Pork Chops/Yams/Pinto Beans/Collard Greens.... Shrimp/Mac & Cheese/Yams/Collard Greens. They also serve Beer & Wine which is a plus. THE FOOD WAS GOOD! And that comes from 2 people originally from Mississippi where We Cook From Scratch! I had food left over and we ordered a Veggie Plate to-go... along with some Peach Cobbler. Our waitress, Latoria, had other big tables to tend to but she didnt miss a beat! She was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Great Job! *And We Tip* Lastly, the lady at the register was down home and nice! We left full and happy. We WILL be back the next time we visit!

Was definitely a surprise how good the food was... We are from Texas and didnt expect the food here to taste like back home... 1st place I have been in a long time.that had a fried Bologna sandwich on the menu... between that and the fried pork chop the fish basket and rhe chicken bog... the fried Bologna sandwich was definitely my favorite... This aint no thin slice of Bologna either... if you dont like the food here then... I dont know what to tell you... Taco Bell may still be open... This was amazing! Even tho the dining room was closed... and we had to get our food to go... didnt matter was still some of the best around!!!!

Yeah this is the spot when you are ready to get off the main strip and all your seafood cravings have been fulfilled... and youre ready for some good old home cooking, greens, yams , cabbage, chicken fried on the southern side... sit out stand inside or out its worth it. Staff is friendly and restroom are super clean. Might be a small wait but they have good music playing so you wont notice it.

Great stop behind the Shells on Kings Hwy the pork chops was fried to perfection and the cheese burger was extremely juicy.

This place is Amazing. The food is awesome....so... so.... good! Everything is good! It is so hard to decide what to order because any choice you make will bring you back for more.....Tourist always come back. If tourists find this place early in their vacation, I guarantee they will chose Big Mike-s to dine for their entire vacation. And when they find Big Mikes on the end of their vacation, they always come back on their next vacation.... Big Mikes is the #1 place to eat in Myrtle Beach SC.

While we are visiting the area we were looking to get a good home cooked meal.  My sister came upon Big Mikes Soulfood; so we read the reviews and decided to have the food delivered.  We were not disappointed, the food was some kinda good.  We had the smothered chicken, mac and cheese, smothered sirloin with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and gravy, collards, yams, cornbread and peach cobbler for dessert.  Shoutout to the chefs at "Big Mikes Soulfood " yall did that.

Small place; easy to miss. Parking is tight. But the food makes it worthwhile. Large portions and speedy service. Can eat in or take out. Not wheelchair friendly inside because of the small steps and tiny dining area. There are picnic tables outside.

I had got the Big Mike Special fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and cornbread my Fiancee got Shrimp sandwich and fries tasted delicious

It was very busy. Wait for seating inside was full. We ended up ordering outside at the window. Food was good and prices were good. We got a meat and two sides which were the BBQ ribs, Mac n cheese, and greens with cornbread for $10! I got the shrimp seafood boil with sausage, potatoes, apiece of corn and a boiled egg for $20. Good portions and food. Waited about 25 minutes.

Everything was just alright. Nothing really made me say I got to go back and get that again. I know the lil Mikes special says two wings, but when they saw those tiny wings they shouldve put at least one more in there. Kool aid was very good though..

This was great soul food. It was very flavorful. Definitely glad we stopped here to eat while on vacation. The wait was not to bad. We ordered outside and picked it up inside. The parking was little tough cause it was packed when we went. But you can tell it was packed cause everyone wanted some good food!

I have been here quite a few times now. I would make this a stop every time I visited the area. Today happened to be my birthday and wanted to eat there. I ordered to go. I wasn’t upset that they were out of certain food items but what REALLY displeased me is I waited almost an hour and my whole order was cold. My order was wrong. They just put what they had left on my plate instead of confirming whether I would be okay with the changes. This is the second time since I have been coming here that my food was not even lukewarm. Being today was meant to be special it really put a damper on things.My husband knows I DO NOT like cold food that is supposed to be hot so I couldn’t even eat my plate. When I called back to notify the manager, no one answered the phone. The only thing that tasted hot and fresh was the peach cobbler I ordered. I really think that when times get too busy they should stop taking orders if they are short staffed in order to accommodate everyone efficiently. We spent over $40 for two plates of cold food that was supposed to be made to order and fresh. This is completely unacceptable and it is my hopes that they find a better system to deal with high demand to where they are not abusing their customers and taking their money for items that shouldn’t leave the store.

Soul food. Legit.Best mustard greens that I had from a restaurant. Fried okra was great. Chicken was on point.Go to Big Mikes.

This is great food. It was fresh and servings were big. The best fried chicken I have had. The mac and cheese too! If I didn’t live in Canada I’d be a regular.

Best Ive had in a long time. I cant recommend this place enough. We came late and didnt realize they were closing. But the manager let us order Togo and the food was so good we came back the next day to dine in. The collard green dip was delicious and served with fresh tortilla chips. We also got cheese sticks, buffalo shrimp, fried fish, shrimp and grits, and the shrimp poboy. It was all delicious and well worth the prices. Seriously, the shrimp was huge and perfectly fried. Everything was seasoned well and cooked with so much love. And you can tell theyre popular because theres a line out the door by dinner time, so order ahead or get there early. Also, the croissant bignets are always worth it.

Simply the best soul food I’ve ever had! The staff there is very nice and attentive. Our waiter, Lexi, was incredibly sweet! Also a good opportunity to support a black owned business! At the end of the day, we have to look out for our own. Overall, it was a great experience and my family and I will be back again.

Restaurant is always extremely busy but worth the wait. My suggestion is order carryout via app. Food is delicious and very flavorful! Portion size are excellent.I have an seafood allergy and they prepared my food accordingly. No cross contamination.Prices are very affordable.If you are in the area this restaurant is a hidden treasure with healthy foods.Will definitely be going back!

Line was long but when u service good food it makes sense. I got the fried chicken meal with candied yams, rice n gravy and baked beans. The chicken was most and juicy with alot of flavor. The yams were DAMN good and the rice and baked beans were good too. If your not in a rush then you should definitely stop here, you wont regret it!

Customer service from Iona was excellent! The shrimp and grits were not good. The grits were clumpy and the shrimp smelled a day old. I spoke with management and he said he would do nothing. Trying to support the business I paid for a second order of a fish sandwich. The bread was falling apart and the taste was bland. Paid for two meals to be dissatisfied.

I love it here... I ate here 2x during my visit to the beach. Everything was sooo good. Do NOT sleep on the bignets!!! I AM HUNGRY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT. Staff was also very friendly! Shout out to BIg Mike!!

This place is EVERYTHING SOUL FOOD!!! Big Mike’s has the best soul food / southern food outside of Memphis, TN. Maybe the best I’ve had yet in the South East. Honestly, I love side dishes so that’s what I ordered. Field Peas… I’ve never seen it on anyones menu! I loved every bit of them! Very nice spice to them and I loved that it had salt in it and just enough of it! This place is NOT AFRAID of FLAVOR!!! Thank you! I enjoyed the rice and gravy too and was grateful that it wasn’t parboiled rice (rice had a nice Fluffhowever, if it was, it surely did not seem like it, thank you Jesus! The Mac and cheese was so delicious and those Mustard Greens were on point!!! The wait for your food can be a tiny bit lengthy BUT THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT!!! Or order ahead and pick it up. Do not even second guess on Big Mike’s, they are the business!!! I wish I lived so much closer. RAISE your PRICES!!! We would’ve gladly paid $20+ for a Big/Lil Mike’s Special! Your food is so worth it!!! AUTHENTIC AUTHENTIC AUTHENTIC SOUL FOOD!!! They are also a dog friendly restaurant, great for travelers . At least there’s one great place with great food on Myrtle Beach!

Food was delicious. Service was great. Would definitely go back. Was probably the best food Ive had during my whole stay in Myrtle Beach. We dined in but you can also order from the outside window to take it to go or eat outside.

I have been here before and I thurouly enjoyed the fried pork chops the first time I was there. So good. Then I visited again with my group and the shrimp and grits were out of this world. Such affordable food that was worth the price and then some. I met big Mike and he was gracious and happy to accommodate our group. I shook his hand and felt honored to do so. This is a place kind of off the beaten path but very worth it. Thank you Big Mike for accommodating our group, we stand with you and I think we would want to promote your business. I will be visiting soon for excellent southern comfort food.♥️I will be visiting tomorrow with one of my group friends that you so graciously hosted. My review might be a lil hard, being that I grew up eating & cooking soul food. The service was good. The food was just okay, nothing special.

OMFGGGGGGG. The food here is absolutely amazing. If you are considering here or somewhere else just choose here. The service is great and you get more than you bargain for. The meat platter is amazing value.

Highly recommend this dining establishment. The food was excellent and abundant, and the server was right on top of things. We enjoyed our mail so much last week on our first visit, that we went back this week and had lunch again. Fried chicken is crispy on the outside and moist inside, shrimp and grits is delicious, the seafood platter exceeded my expectations along with the perfect Cole slaw. The salads were huge.The only disappointment was they didnt have malt vinegar

When I arrived on the block, you could see the parking lot was full of cars and people were standing all on the outside. My party of four waited an hour just to be able to get inside for a table. I was hoping the food would be worth the wait. I was thoroughly pleased with the amount of food I received for the price. The service was very hospitable as well. The taste was delicious and all of it was home cooked food. My first time here, but definitely not my last.

This is my first time eating here because I love a good soul food meal but this wasn’t it!!! Pork chops was WET! Rice and gravy as well as cabbage had no taste. No seasoning no love put in this meal! It was not good at all and I wasted a whole plate along with $10. Def will not be back. Also the way they have it set up to get your food is also ridiculous.

A must have!!! Visiting from Florida and wanted some good southern soul food!! Big mikes got it right….AMAZING!! Every bit of it was delicious. Fast friendly customer service!

We are visiting from out of town so at a family members great review suggestion we decided to try Big Mikes. Got to this restaurant about 8:30pm. We knew it was 30 mins before closing so we asked if it was too late to order. We were told no so we ordered 1 Big Mike pork chop meal with mac and cheese, okra, and mash potatoes with gravy...1 Lil Mike chicken meal with rice and gravy and potato salad ..and 1 Seafood platter with okra instead of fries. (WHAT WE GOT WASmash potatoes and rice with PINTO BEAN JUICE instead of gravy and fries instead of okra. Now all the meats were good but who eats pinto bean juice on there potatoes? Also my husband would have liked his okra. We will try there again because we love to support black owned businesses. But word to the wise...please check your orders before leaving the restaurant! You have been warned!

Awesome restaurant with the best soul food and the best staff. Very friendly and caring. My wife and I ate back to back here because the food was so good. You cant go wrong by eating at Big Mikes.

Omg omg omg true Southern food thats fresh fast and delicious. Ill be back Everytime I come to Myrtle Beach. I wish yall shipped food. There was sooo much in my one order that I had enough for two more snacks for later.

Great home style soul food including fried chicken, collard greens, hush puppies and tons of other yummy stuff. Try the Collard Green Dip....fabulous!

Where do I start? Ok, the most positive thing was the friendly staff and the very reasonable prices. . The collards, although cooked well, were too salty to consume. The mac and cheese were bland and minimal cheese. The chicken, both white and dark, were very greasy, yet tasty.The gizzards were heavily coated and needed scraping. The cabbage was good, but lukewarm. Forget the so called "cornbread!" The potato salad was okay.Good news: The fish was good! Walk, dont run, to Mikes

This is definitely food for your soul. When you have a heart for cooking, you cant help but make people happy. Hats off to Big Mike for making his mother proud. My husband and I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach for our 38th wedding anniversary on October 2nd. Even though Big Mike was off work that day, Little Mike did well sir! We cant forget that behind a good man is a very strong woman who supports them. Keep up the good work. It was truly a blessing to see that all nationalities come to enjoy this food. My only problem I had was the fried chicken wings. It just wasnt seasoned enough for me. Maybe it was an off day. It happens sometimes. Other than that, my foot was tapping and I started wiggling in my seat as I began to eat. Yummy yum yum!

food was beyond delicious. I knew when I walked pulled up and seen how many people where waiting for food that this place was gonna be BOMB and boy I wasnt disappointed. We were going to dine in but the wait was just entirely too long so we ordered online. The only negative I have was my order was suppose to be ready at 806 and I didnt get it till almost 840 so account for that if ordering online. Family owned so go try them out if you are in Myrtle Beach

Amazing southern cooking. Definitely try the fried chicken. We went in the middle of the week and there was still quite wait so be sure to account for that when making plans. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This place also has the best prices on kids meals. My wife got the shrimp boil, son had the fried chicken, and I had the fried fish - all fantastic. More than enough food to make you full. We will definitely return the next time were in the area.

Man Big Mikes is the bomb. Me and a group of friends visited Myrtle Beach and tried a few dining places. Before we left we tried big Mikes, man I wish we ate there first, we would have been there every night for dinner. I got the fried pork chops, those pork chops made me forget I was in a public place. The Mac and cheese is great, its not that commercial mess that tastes like dissatisfaction, this Mac and cheese taste like it had a masters degree in flavor-ology!!

Listen here y’all. Big Mike’s may just have the best tasting food in Myrtle Beach. The service was friendly and there wasn’t a thing that I ordered that wasn’t phenomenal. I had a feeling it was going to be pretty good when I couldn’t hardly find a parking spot on a weeknight.And I don’t say this lightly but maybe the best fried chicken I’ve ever had it was exactly how I like it not dry, but crispy and flavorful. A must stop instantly moves to the top of my recommend list for Myrtle Beach.
