Casual, family-friendly stop with TVs serving pies with varied toppings plus salads & chicken wings.
Place could have been cleaner but they could have just got done with a lunch rush. Salad bar was a
Been going to this pizza joint for years! Still has the best pizza around
Looking for a place for a quick bite to eat while attending the Pendleton Roundup. Tasty meat pizza with the add-on crushed pepper and Parmesan. Nice decor. You can watch your pie being made. They have a salad bar available for side salad or all-you-can-eat. Game area, big screen TV’s. Great place to visit. Friendly staff. And great pizza!
Got the big thing of wings. They were soggy and barely cooked.Pizza I got was undercooked as well.Must have been just too busy to fully cook the menu items I ordered for approximately 50 bucks maybe just a bit more.
Good salad bar n nice place to social
Home town Favorite for sure, that lunch buffet is a great deal
Appreciate the lunch buffet. Great if youre in a hurry
the pizza was terrible. crust was like a cracker. little to no pizza sauce. large chunks of sausage. little cheese. and the salad was literally ice berg lettuce in a chunks. very disappointed
Good pizza and bread sticks. Nice quick service.
We were traveling and the hotel recommended this place and it did not disappoint! Staff was so friendly even though we were ordering delivery with less than an hour to close and the food got to us quickly. The food was all amazing and hot. The hot wings are by far the BEST I have ever had. And their ranch was delicious. If you are in Pendleton you should definitely try this!
I had the big John pizza thin crust it was the driest pizza I ever ate the crust wasn’t done never again. The wings I ordered weren’t put through the oven and anybody can open a bottle of hot sauce domino’s could teach this place a thing or two, and besides when I ordered the meal the young lady didn’t have a clue, didn’t follow instructions must be a blonde. I do come down here from Portland once in awhile to make deliveries and like to eat delivery food every once in awhile.
I think this is an old Abbys pizza location. Pizza is ordered at the counter and you can watch it being made if desired. Order is picked up at the counter when your buzzer goes off. There are a couple of family style tables and the traditional 4 chair tables in the elevated area (2 steps up). You can order hand tossed or thin crust. Toppings are applied liberally and its tasty pizza. Id prefer the pizza to be cooked a bit more because it comes out a bit greasy and droopy, but I can deal with it. Draught beer is available at the drink counter. There is a childrens room in the back.
Taco pizza was great. Two of us had the double which would have been enough for three or four. We ate all but one piece!!
Taco Pizza was amazing. Friendly staff. I asked for no tomatoes & extra lettuce. Thing was loaded! 🤤
Great pizza. Fresh made dough. So cheesy. Tasted so good. Great family atmosphere as well.
Excellent Pizza for the fourth time and excellent service with it as well!!!We will continue to be a customer...
In Pendleton from out of town. Staff was very helpful in choosing the best pizza and crust (hand tossed!). Great pizza. Crust had a great consistency and not overwhelming. Highly recommend.
Good pizza loved the garlic bread everything was good service was excellent wait time was reasonable for fresh food
A family favorite for many years. Best pizza in town!
Excellent pizza, great salad bar. They were so accommodating when our team came in towards the end of the night. Top-notch service!! Faith Bible Falcons highly recommend Big Johns!
4 stars instead of 5 because it was so crazy busy and the tables were filthy and the counter was full of dirty dishes. I just think they were too swamped to keep up with everything. But it was a nice pizza shop! Has a great salad bar and so many options for a pizza. They also of beer and wine available. 👍There is a small area with arcade games. Lots of fun to be had!
The place always has good pie. A staple of the community. One honest note: one could pay a bit more attention to the wings as they are good but could be better.
Pizza was fine, sausage is extremely salty. I placed a take out order, upon arriving it wasnt ready. As I waited I was grossed out by what I observed. The girls handling the pizza/toppings were not wearing gloves. One of the girls came to help me , she grabbed my debit card with refried beans on her hands. She checked me out and proceeded to take a phone order. She placed the order on the computer with the same dirty hands then went back to making pizzas without washing her hands once. Pretty disgusting, not one of them had gloves on. Then to be touching debit cards, phones and computers and just go back to making pizzas is completely unsanitary.
Tried and TRUE doe rolling machine, TOOK ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD and the crust and pizza was to die for. BEST PIZZA IN OREGON!!! . . .Staff was friendly, fast and helpful
Absolutley the worst pizza ive ever had in my entire life, it taste like straight cardboard, no fluff in the crust, the bottom of the pizza was horrible, hopefully they can make changes
Theyre pizza is absolutely amazing and delicious!!! The employees are so friendly and happy; makes the experience that much better. My family has been eating here for years and will continue to keep coming back.
Not bad pizza. It was tasty, with the Canadian ham, pepperoni. The sausage wasnt even getting it, bland with no spice. Had to take it all off the pizza. Other wise I would buy again. Area was clean, good customer service.
Maybe I caught them on an off day but the salad presented to me was out of date (as it was written on the plastic containerand it looked every bit it’s age. The salad was accompanied with the rootball end of the lettuce head (yikesmixed in. I told the man, he said “do you want a different one?” I would have apologized profusely and insisted on a delivery of a quality product. I told him I wouldn’t have served it. At that he offered one of those “I guess I have to apologize “ apologies.I ordered a combination mini pizza. I’ve never had a combo without green pepper and onions. But hey it had two meats! The music was pretty good! What has happened to being proud of your work done?
Hadnt had Big Johns in over 20 years. It used to be so-so 2-3 star kinda joint when I was a kid. It was always a fun place to come after a sporting event or for a birthday party. John was a really nice old fella, but the pizza was...meh.Today the quality of the pizza has improved tremendously. Kudos to this place for stepping their game up and earning their pizza stripes. Buffet is solid, salad bar is solid, the pizza is really good. The next closest pizza place this good is at Fazzaris in Clarkston, WA. Enjoy having this place in your neck of the woods.
We found this place on the internet. Spending the night in Pendleton, we decided to try this pizza. Best decision ever! We had the Canadian bacon, beef, and pepperoni and added onion and green pepper to the hand tossed pizza. It is going to be difficult to find a pizza ever this good again!
Oh my gosh, AMAZING. They make their own dough, it is totally first class. Did not expect that the pizza would be this good, must try. Very, very nice people working there too. Place is super clean and they were very very careful with everything given the times we’re in.
Excellent pizzas in Roundup City in Oregon State...means Pendelton
We were traveling through the area again this year between Oregon and Missouri and made a point to make sure and stop here because their pizza has been really good in our past stops. The pizza was just okay this time but not quite as good as we remember a year ago. That might partly be because of the type of pizza we ordered. We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza with bacon, onions, and green peppers. It didnt have enough BBQ sauce on it to taste the sauce so we asked for more. It would have been better if the sauce had been cooked into the pizza. Also we feel the vegetables could have been cooked longer. It was like they just cut up the veggies and laid them on top of the cooked pizza. We didnt even notice any cheese on top of the veggies to hold them on the pizza.Even though we felt the pizza could have been better, we will continue to stop here but will try a different kind of pizza next time.We called ahead and ordered the pizza and it was ready when we got there which we were pleased with because we were short on time to get to our destination for the night.
My wife and I enjoy spending our money on local businesses, supporting the local entrepreneur. That said... I dont think Ive ever had a pizza that was this good before. I was also surprised at how quickly we got it too. Please dont ever change what you do!
Definitely the best pizza in Pendleton! I’ve ordered it twice in the last month. It’s a bit more than the “take and bake “,but delicious. The only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is that both times I have ordered it, I received the wrong pizza😢. I had it delivered and it was hot and fresh. I absolutely recommend it, just wish our order would have been right.Sharon Coiner
This place was good. We got there original crust and it was crazy thin. If you like thin pizza crust then Big Johns is your version of pizza in heaven.
Great food. Great prices. Local favorite!
Oh my God this is the most awesome family pizza restaurant Ive ever eaten in. the staff is very welcoming friendly and courteous the pizza is so amazing the all you can eat salad bar was all fresh and delicious very cheap and affordable pricing. next time we are going to tryout the all you can eat pizza buffet..... Thanks Big John for the amazing visit keep up the great work.......
The pizza is good. I like the thin crust they have. The lunch buffet is a great deal.I found it really off-putting that the gal who rang us up today didn’t wash her hands between handling money/cleaning up, and going back to prep. She used hand sanitizer, but that’s not enough. After seeing that, I noticed that there isn’t even a sink in the prep area; not one I noticed anyway. So I’m not sure how they can be clean between cash handling and touching food. The bathrooms were also filthy, and usually are when I come in.I like the pizza, and I’m disgusting so I’m still gonna eat there and just hope I don’t get sick.
I Was passing though at a motel and I would rather pay to support small town pizza places instead of super corporate places like Pizza Hut or dominos. Authentic pizza is what I fancy. Ordering was a challenge because it was like pulling teeth trying to get the young lady to engage in the order and the tone of her voice didn’t seem like she wanted to take my order at all. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give the pizza overall a 6.1 and the service 3.4. Thanks for the pizza
Its ok. The pizza tastes really salty, the crust is just bizare, to say the least. But, its reasonably priced, fast and clean "looking". However, watching the girls make your pizza was scary to say the least. They handle money, credit cards, clean tables etc but THEY DO NOT WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE STICKING THEIR DIRTY HANDS INTO YOUR PIZZA. We watched three different girls all making pizzas, with their bare hands, without EVER washing. Disgusting to say the least.
Big Johns Pizza is a nice place to grab a bit of pizza if youre craving it. Wasnt a fan of the amount of grease that was on the pan that I saw but it might have just been me. Still though the pizza was pretty good! Id go back again if I was in town more often especially if I want pizza.
The staff have always been friendly when my family drives through and eats here. We always get the pizza buffet, and its more than worth the money with cheap drinks added on (cheap for a buffet drink). I believe it was 7 bucks a buffet and 6 for just the salad bar, so even with drinks and three people we only spent a little over 24 dollars for a buffet with good food which is always a plus in my book.
Had a big awesome family birthday gathering. Pizza was bomb. The staff was great, hard workers family oriented. Salad bar was okay need a larger station. Need a larger big johns pizza place more seats and a better air conditioning system. Is a good place for the family n friendsFew quarter games have televisions drink staion n salad bar. Yes they serve alcohol. Do not forget check out the lunch special deals. ENJOY
We were quite pleased with this place. Were just passing through for the night and desperately needed some good food in a non chain atmosphere. Big Johns fit the bill. The wild fire pizza was tasty but not terribly spicy. Just good flavor. If youre passing through and need a bite, definitely stop here.
Yum! I love pizza- this pizza is fantastic. Thin crust is light and flaky; hand tossed is perfectly wonderful; and the $6.99 price for the lunch buffet made this family of five very happy! Great Job!
Good service and tasty pizzas. The kids love it here. Not a traditional sit down pizza joint; a little self service is required. Personal favorite is the Big Johns Special on hand tossed crust.
Clean, decent size for families, small salad bar, tea & pop, beer thin crust small variety of pizzas. Womens Bathroom stall so small cant stand up w/out bumping the door open, lock didnt work.
Driving through, I always look for the local, non-franchised restaurants to give them a try. I was not disappointed with the pizza here, or the service and atmosphere. Cozy atmosphere; friendly, smiling service personnel; and obviously homemade, from scratch, pizza dough and sauce--and thats what makes all the difference! Will definitely return next time Im in the area!
Pleasantly surprised with their veg pizza. It didnt feel heavy. Stopped on the way to Boise from Portland. And we stopped for lunch buffet on our return as well! They initially didnt have veg pizza in the buffet but prepared one and put it on the buffet for us. The veg sandwich is also good.
