Big Ditch Brewing Company in Buffalo
Description
Good beer, but not great food. The Brussels sprouts dish was practically raw, and the pizza did not seem like it was made from scratch (sauce tasted like it was from a can, and dough didn’t seem homemade). The fried pickles were quite good though. Bottom line, come here for the beer, not the food.
MoreVisiting Buffalo for the first time and we chose the right place for dinner. Pros: Affordable, spacious, clean and with a great atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and attentive and food was very good. Loaded Tots was delicious, so the Lemon Salmon and the Steak Frites. Cons: Mashed potatoes and Ramen were just ok and water had a strong taste so I didnt drink it, also Parking was hard to find . Highly Recommended.
MoreA group of us went here to celebrate my 30th birthday. The waiter Mike was very attentive and had a great personality. I’d definitely recommend the SteamPunk cider!! The food was awesome too!
MoreWent for a late night dinner and drinks and overall it was a good experience. The one reason I knocked a star (which maybe isn’t fully fair), but you can’t get whatever you want on the beer flight. You have to choose five unique options so if there’s something that you particularly like or interested in trying, you can only get it once which was a little disappointing.Because of this, I settled on just one drink since there weren’t five different things I was interested in.In terms of the food I had the Italian market pizza ($15), which came pepperoni and sausage on it. Nothing to write home to mom about but it was good. My friend ordered the Hayburner wings and got a side of fries and mac & cheese as well. Fries came out pretty cool already when we tried them and they were just OK, but the mac & cheese was good. Nice and cheesy.
MoreBig ditch is easily my favorite restaurant in Buffalo so it was a no brainer for my husband and I to host our rehearsal lunch in their beer hall. Planning this event with Big Ditch was easy and their food was amazing! Highly recommend hosting an event at Big Ditch!
MoreIt was pretty good here! Super busy, but food was good. I got the berry salad, which included a ton of strawberries, roasted walnuts, avocado and a berry vinaigrette. Server was very friendly and attentive.
MoreNice space a bit more upscale than our Florida breweriies but beers were quite good. Kolsch and Pale Ale were great and my two IPAS were excellent! We will return!
MoreSolid spot downtown as a destination and nice bartenders, although always seems to have weird rules about having to eat to sit at outside patio, etc. Hopefully the other location on Transit opens soon as there seems to be not much progress made.
MoreWas here on Sunday for brunch: had a overall positive experience. My three friends and I had a variety of drinks and food during our visit, and everything tasted good. Starting with the drinks there was a diverse selection, and the grand Bloody Mary even came with a full size chicken finger on top which was pretty neat to see. The menu also had fresh spins on many breakfast favorites, and had us wanting to try many options. Ultimately I went with a friend chicken and churro dish which tasted great. My only complaint was that I had asked for the extra spicy sauce normally on the chicken to come on the side, when the server (not our normal server for the meal but a kitchen assistant type personset the plate down he spilled the sauce all over my plate, so I ended up only eating half the churros because they had the sauce on them and it was hotter than I would prefer.Would recommend dining here for brunch, or for drinks at any point. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
MoreGiving it 3 stars for the employees and the beer. Thank goodness the female bartender finished her conversation with a customer at the one end of the bar or myself, my husband and another couple would still be waiting. Will go back for beer but their food is not good. I ordered a Reuben which I assumed would be made from a prepared corned beef. It was not. I asked the bartender (we opted to eat at the barabout it and he couldnt even look at me when he said it was made fresh daily. It was processed and the proportion of the almost shredded meat to the roll was ridiculous. The bartender was very nice and asked me if I wanted to order something else- I ordered a hamburger- which was not a high quality beef - tasteless. Good sandwiches are not tough to do; but if you are using inferior quality meat- dont bother.
MoreIt’s a place worth visiting in Buffalo if you’re a beer person! We went here on Saturday lunch time at around 2pm ish and it was very busy.I tried beer flight and shrimp sandwich. Every beer I tried was very unique and flavourful and none of them disappointed me. It was about $12 for 5 samplers. Shrimp sandwich was so tasty but chips were ok, just regular pub style.Excited to visit them and try more beer in the future!
MoreAwesome food and great beer. This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown. Love getting a flight so I can try a bunch of different beers. If you are downtown for dinner then I would absolutely suggest this place.
MoreHellooo. I am from miami and I usually hear that hospitality is bad down here. Well, let me tell you that I had to ask for silverware, plates (they came wetwhen our food came.Mac n cheese was ok. Salmon was horrible. Frozen, hard, what a shame!!!The winner was the pizza. Simply delicious!!!Beer was good. There was any kind of celebration with live music and cupcakes!!!
MoreGreat beers and delicious food!! Amazing service by Mike
The beer is just great. Haymaker is a fantastic beer that is an all day drinker. The wings were absolutely wonderful doused with the Haymaker IPA sauce and juicy. This is an easy place to recommend.
Moregorgeous beers, I love their IPAs
I ordered the $14 Chicken Sriracha Burger. They didnt put any cheese on it. What kind of burger or sandwich comes without cheese as a default? Also, chicken sandwiches typically come with a slice of bacon. Definitely not $14 worth; I couldve ordered an actual spicy chicken sandwich from Wendys that wouldve tasted better. The sauce was like kung pow chicken rather than sriracha. The fries were soggy and placed on top of a pickle. The "signature sauce" for the fries was actually just overly sweetened kung pow sauce. Overall just lacking in flavor, but I suppose the owners want the fact that people will be drinking to pick up the slack of the blandness of their food. Will not be returning.
MoreWent for brunch on Sunday around noon, a 45 min wait but worth it! We had the French toast and brats with tots breakfasts and both were very good, filling, and priced great. My husband had a flight and liked the red and helles lager best. Lots of merchandise to purchase and beer to go. First time here, will visit again when back in Buffalo!
MoreGreat place for brunch. I recommend the flight mimosas
The burgers are very good! Really great draft beer selection. The beer flights are pretty generously sized. First time there and I really liked it.
MoreGreat beers, some fridges for takeaways and merchandise, friendly staff and a pulled pork grilled cheese that was a revelation!
MoreIt was my 1st time went there for brunch. The mimosa flight was amazing and highly recommend to give it a try! The food was good and hot. I ordered the Brewers Breakfast and its yummy.
MoreDelicious food! Friendly service. Nice selection of craft beers. Will definitely be back!
MoreAnother favorite brewery in Buffalo. The beer is always great. The brewers are always trying to improve older recipes, new brews are always inventive and delicious. The food is always very good as well. I recommend the Sriracha chicken sandwich or the Ditch Digger Grilled Cheese. As far as their beer just pick a style you like and ask their knowledgeable staff for whatever they recommend. Also dont be afraid to venture off and try one of their seasonal offerings that are also great!
MoreGreat seasonal beers and cocktails. And the food is amazing. Plenty of parking on the weekends. Just may need to do a couple spins around the block to find.
MoreMy husband and I stopped here to try local brew and some good food. Hostess walked like a gazelle and brought us to a high top table after we requested a regular table. She then did her gazelle walk back to her station while we hurried to follow her. She then told us there would be a wait at the table for a waitress. We had no problem waiting. We ordered a local brew and a glass of wine. We also wanted to sample several dishes, even if it meant taking some home. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, mushroom, and Italian sausage. We asked for salt/pepper three times and never received any. The pizza was delicious and the crust was amazing. We then ordered the meatloaf dinner and the drunken pig dinner. The meatloaf arrived but with a salmon dinner. The manager was very quick to fix the problem. He also took money off the bill. Our waitress could have checked on us more. The meatloaf was okay but the sauce overpowered the meal. The drunken pig was bland and was average. Since we are only here every 5-10 years, maybe next time will be better.
MoreVery busy place and the staff was doing there best to handle everything going on. I always enjoy their Hayburner but some of the other beers were just ok.
MoreThe worst experience ever. Went there on my lunch hour TODAY and there were bees everywhere inside! A few landed on me, making it extremely uncomfortable to sit there while waiting on my food. I ended up leaving while watching other patrons swat away bees as they attempted to eat their food. I most likely will never visit this place again unless it the dead of winter. Oh and I asked for a well done burger and it’s practically raw.. disgusting
MoreGreat food, great atmosphere, great flights. Get the dipping sauce for the fries!! Try the Breubenstien
MoreWe got there just before 5pm on a Saturday. It was super crowded but we were able to get seats at the beer hall bar. We had flights, an appetizer, and entrees. All of it was delicious. The beer hall was spacious with garage door openings. A very nice environment with attentive and friendly staff.
MoreCustomer service is awesome, atmosphere is energetic and the price for 3 people was less than $50 (excluding tip). But...my wife is a vegetarian and had her heart set on the unburger and they were sold out. And the poutine fries werent desirable. I had the Ruben which was perfect. Big Ditch Brewing Company is a must-see if visiting Buffalo NY.
MoreA nice Brew house in Buffalo, although i i didnt eat here the menu looked good. Amber was excellent tending bar, working very hard while being kind and offering great service the whole time. unfortunately the craft beer they make wasnt to my liking all that much.
MoreWhat a fantastic experience! The beef was incredible as always and especially the food!! Garlic White Pizza is incredible and the chicken Mac n cheese! Rieley was knowledgeable about the city including events going on and was very friendly!
MoreThis place never fails to impress the beers were great and our server Melissa was amazing. We stopped in to celebrate their 6th anniversary. The anniversary beers were fantastic we sampled all of the anniversary brews they offered. The food was good but the beers were the highlight. Always worth a visit when Im downtown.
MoreAptly referred to as "The Hope Dismond of Buffalo Breweries", Big Ditch lives up to its name in each and every way.The building design and layout, their ability to provide a comfortable dining experience in any and all seasons, their robust seasonal rotations of both craft beer selections and food specials are just a few of the many ways this establishment sets itself apart from the rest.Big Ditch is a trailblazer in the Buffalo Brewery Space, and are masters of the craft. In addition to seven or eight true staples on their craft beer menu, they somehow manage to rotate 3-4 limited edition craft beers monthly. In ADDITION TO THAT, they manage to rotate specialized beer cocktails that often incorporate the limited edition beers.Because of this, its accurate to say that not only do they provide a spectacular beer experience, but it often is a UNIQUE and INDUPLICABLE beer experience.Unfortunately for my wallet, the excellence doesnt stop there: the food is Chef Quality.Octoberfest, St. Patricks Day, Thanksgiving... there are chef specials tailor made for every holiday. When there isnt a holiday, rotating specials can be found that often match seasonal preferences. I have not had one dish yet that wasnt 10/10.And finally, theres brunch. I provided photos of the bruch items, which include one of the Top 3 bloody Marys Ive had in the city, an awesome mimosa/beermosa spread, and interesting (while satifyingbrunch food selections. Brunch truly makes Big Ditch a no-brainer as an anytime option. Brunch, lunch, dinner, professional meetings, Saturday drinking, a quick stop... This place is a National Treasure.
MoreVery nice atmosphere with a great selection. Had a flight to share of beers across the board and got some really good poutine for south of the border. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because the hostess was a little off-putting. We asked to sit outside because it was a surprisingly sunny and warm day in WNY, which almost never happens, and she sighed and rolled her eyes. I’ve been in food services, I understand it’s hard when a specific section gets overloaded. But don’t let the patrons see the frustration girl. Otherwise, I’ll be back!
MoreBrunch at the Big Ditch Brewing Company was a very pleasant surprise. I have been here a couple times now and the food is top quality and the menu is playful and inventive. There is something for everyone from the timid to the adventurous.
MoreIndustrial modern feel! Nice selection of beer! Lots of seating! Great for events your having. Only negative is it can be alittle noisey because its right by the road!
MoreBy far the best brewery food I have ever had, the food is always consistently delicious!I highly recommend their AMAZING Reuben. I always pair the fries with the garlic aioli, but all their sauces are tasty. They have a great beer selection, from sours to stouts theres something for everyone!
MoreBig portions fresh ingredients when it comes to the food, its really great. I dont drink so cant comment on the beer but I am sure its good too!
MoreWent here for food and beer, before the Maiden concert. Our waitress, Heather, was very friendly. My wife got a flight, as I am gluten free I did not. The beers ranged from good to "interesting". The menu literally had only fries that I could eat. Everything was either breaded or had beer in it somehow. We went elsewhere for food. The food looked interesting, but if you have a dietary restriction, go elsewhere. Definitely for beer people that like "different" beer.
MoreReally enjoyed the ambiance and warehouse/modern feel. I liked the open doors for airflow. The beer was interesting and Id like to come back for some food. I recommend trying this place if youre from out of town.
MoreBeer was just ok for me (Im picky). I felt like I couldnt find a beer that was light enough for me. However, my meal was fantastic! The place is pretty large with big bay doors that open so you can sit indoors or out. Theres also an upstairs with more seating as well. Our waiter was great and was able to reccomend delicious dishes.
MoreA great, lively place with a huge menu and an extensive beer list. I dont drink but my friends enjoyed the beer and wine. The food is very tasty: pizza crust is thin and crispy (Neapolitan styleand the schnitzel sandwich (first time Ive seen that offeredis super tasty. A great time was had by all!
MoreGreat local brewed beer and the food was awesome too! I had the Fall Black German style beer (amazing flavorwith the "Breuben" sandwich and fries. Everything was delicious, great atmosphere too. Only downside was no TVs at the bar (at least where I was sittingto show sports, news etc. I even ordered a 32oz Crowler (growler in a sealed canof the Fall Black to go!
MoreGood food. Nice location. Great beer.I had a burger and it was very juicy and tasty. The fries were not that good. Looked old (re-fried)
MoreI really like it here. Their beer is great. Many different styles and always top notch. The food is also fantastic. This is all obvious with how crowded it is all the time. Only complaint is that their special beer sells out. Not a bad problem to have though. I will keep coming back. Can’t wait until the winter beers come out. Thanks for always providing a good, consistent experience!
MoreWent here with my girlfriend on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly busy but not too busy. Ordered the bacon cheddar burger. It was good, the burger I ordered medium and came out more like medium well but was ok still. The plate where the burger was laying was really juicy and wasnt able to put the burger down in my plate. I had to lay the burger on top if my fries to avoid getting the bun soggy. The beer was good. I ordered the cinnamon apple beer and thought it was great. Service was good too. Overall a good experience. Would go bac.
MoreDefinitely has the hip downtown craft beer scene vibe. Nice atmosphere and good beer. The food is delicious, though a little on the pricey side.
MoreI went on a Saturday and it was jam packed. The atmosphere was great and a good feel. The music was at the right volume. The menu was suprisingly diverse for a brewery. The menu prices were a bit high but most of it was good. Pizza was great, fries were natural cut but dropped in old grease. The meatloaf easnthin and like warm at best. Mashed potatoes were great and the brewbuen was awesome. The bathroom upstairs is a single person. This caused some congestion.Limited tables to sit at compared to the number of people. Waited over an hour to sit. Make sure you talk to the hostess. Jumping in a seat when someone gets up means nothing. They will kick you out of your seatA tempered gentleman approached us when something nearly fell on him by accident. Two bouncers were all over it and asked us and them if everything was ok. Very impressed.Do not come for cocktails. Stick to beer. The cocktails are not very good and run about $11 each.
