Big Dipper - Roller coaster in Blackpool, United Kingdom
Painful rollercoaster, but still a bit fun. I do not reccomend this coaster for very heavy people or people who can get bruises etc... often. This is not a rollercoaster for the best thrills, but it is more for the "I rode a nearly 100 year old rollercoaster" credit.Waiting time was fair enough, for me only 5 - 10 minutes
Loved it.... Might not have been the best choice for my 6 year old sonss first ever roller-coaster though. He completely freaked out and cried afterwards when he finally realised he had survived it.
This roller coaster has the most deaths in the world
This wooden rollercoaster is like100 years old and its still a very good ride. I always come off with a few bruises but its worth it lol
Its a traditional rickety wooden structured roller coaster, still a decent ride after all these years, part of the enjoyment is derived from the coaster not being a smooth as some modern ones, and is quite bumpy. My mum is old enough to remember when back in her day, the Big Dipper originally had no waist belt to keep you in, only the handle bar, I bet that would have been both scary and enjoyable in equal measure. Shame Blackpool tore down the mouse rollercoaster, that was a blast. I thought it was protected by heritage or something.
Brilliant day out
This one is my favourite ride at the park! It’s a lot smoother than the Grand National and quite a long ride, too, with plenty of drops and a lot of thrills for such an old woodie! Really comfy seats too!
Had a fantastic time yerh queues was a bit long in places. Nice and clean though out the park 👌
Glad to see its maintained its original style and vibe. However its extremely bumpy and could be quite dangerous for some.
Probably the scariest and roughest ride Ive ever been on, I could feel the seat I was sat on lifting and rattling loose. Although it feels like a 2 minute car accident it was well worth the concussion and dazed feeling that was experienced for about 30 mins after. I Probably wont ride it again but Im glad I did👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really enjoyed this ride, always a bit of a long wait, but extremely worth it! As an adrenaline junkie this one is perfect
Loved The Big Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach...Lots of laughs while riding this baby 🖤😎🤘
This ride brings back a lifetime of memories. Up until recently we couldn’t have a Blackpool trip without having a go on this bad boy.Love it.
Big Dipper is a wooden out and back roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, England. Originally built in 1923, it was extended in 1936 and was designated as a Grade II listed building on 19 April 2017.It operates with two trains, each containing three four-bench cars, seating two people per bench. After Scenic Railway, Big Dipper is the second-oldest in-use rollercoaster in Britain.
Still a great roller coaster for 99 years. It excellent when it has a wet track
This ride is so fun fast I would recommend this ride
My daughter is 6 she rode it twice in one day, she did it once when 5 !Its a rough wooden old rollercoaster and its exactly what it should be a piece of history !Family favourite
The legend, 100 years old, made of wood, was my first time and couldn’t have rated it higher, it’s a lot faster and aggressive than you would think, luckily the seats are well padded 👍🎢
Lots of rattling but a fun ride
Really good rollercoaster to start and end the day me and my partner rides it 3 times the last visit and its our favourite ride there
Its nearly 100 years old which really shows Lots of rattling but if it aint broke, dont fix it. In all seriousness, this is an absolute classic and a must-ride. Very thrilling and perfect as a first ride on a day to Pleasure Beach as a warm-up for the bigger rides.
A classic wooden rollercoaster. This ride isnt overly smooth - but then again, what do you expect for a ride that is nearing 100 years of operation! The shared lap-bar means that there can be quite a bit of airtime - especially towards the back of the train.Personally I think that this ride is especially good at night time. The way it travels above and below other rides and pathways looks really fun when it is darker and the rides are lit up.
The oldest rollercoaster still operating in the park! Built in 1923, The Big Dipper is a fun and thrilling ride still to this day! Yes it may be a bit rough in some areas however this doesn’t take away the happy times you have on this ride! It’s a memory you definitely won’t forget! Definitely a good one for the family. Would be nice if they re-painted it.
Really good ride but that would actually hurt my knees is a bit as well
A classis old school ride thats seen better days but is great fun all the same👍
Amazing classic ride. It is rough but not to the point where it hurts, unlike Grand National
Brilliant and fun historical roller coaster. Ive been going on this ride for many years and I enjoy it every time. Just avoid the wheel seats (first or last row of each caras they are the most roughest parts of the ride. Aim for a middle row and youll have a more smoother and fun time.
Fond memories of this ride, old and rickety with a suprise at the end. Two rollecoasters race to the finish but on the day we went only one was running which makes it slight less fun
Bit rough but its good, suitible for pretty much all people a nice experience overall.
Scares me every time. For such an old ride its mega fun.
Its neatly 100 year old and it shows, should have warmed up before this ride.
Robert and my family enjoyed it this has to be a true classic at Blackpool also the oldest roller coaster in the world. All though not a smooth coaster but even being there for 96 years it never gets old! Recommend to do this true classic of blackpool!
Great ride but can be a bit rough
For being almost 100 years old, this ride is pretty fun. Its kind of rough and bumpy, however I expected that. It has pretty good airtime, and I would suggest that if you are in Blackpool, you should ride this.
Its good but needs re building as is a bit stiff an old it also feels like your going to collapse because its made out of the wood and the wood is old
Great roller coaster, I would recommend it. Although try and avoid the front and back unless you want whip lash. With it being one of the oldest ones on the park it doesnt handle corners well.
Although an old favourite of mine from childhood I wouldn’t go on this again I’ve never been more uncomfortable or shook around ever this ride now needs improving as does the chase ride (two teams of cars race against each other awful
I love these old old coasters, gets rough at times but hey!
The ride itself is brilliant, but its a rough ride! I know it adds to the appeal having the wooden old style, but these rides would be so much better if they were a bit smoother!!!
A very good wooden rollercoaster, similar to the Grand National but not as good.Very high start with a gut wrenching drop, fast turns & quick drops will have you hanging on for your life.
This wooden rollercoaster is a classic and run ride. Sure, its rough and you may be limping to your next ride but I guess pain is a price to pay for a good day.
A classic wooden coaster. Built in 1923 and extended in 1936. A good long coaster with almost two and a half minutes ride time. Has all the things you would expect from a woodie. Creaking wood, twisting seats and lots of bangs, shakes and rattles. Some good drops and quality airtime moments put this up with the best rides in the UK.
Great fun ride . Another legend of a ride . This and the grand national are why I come to Blackpool . Classic historic ride .enjoy the history and magic of the big dipper .
A classic with some painful moments throughout the ride. Not one of the best classics but still gives some air time on many of the hills.
Big Dipper is a wooden out and back roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, England. The ride was first built in 1923 by John Miller
Would have been a lot more fun with a modern touch. Quite uncomfortable and painful in some parts. Still absolutely mental, the fact the track is so rickety adds to the thrill.
I went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach yesterday and I loved this ride its a nice smooth ride but the drops are still a good hight and they are really fun! I would definitely recommend this ride to people who arent fond with roller coasters!
This ride is tame but i will tell you if you like this youll love peppsi max
A classic, but boy is it painful! If you are used to riding modern steel coasters then this will be a bit of a shock. Maybe Im just getting old but I couldnt ride this over and over again like I can on some of the newer rides.
Great classic coaster. In need of some TLC to smooth out the more painful transitions.
