Casual, family-run cafe serving locally sourced American fare plus housemade bread & pastries.
Excellent biscuits and good coffee! A great place to go with your furry little friends (pet friendly). A added plus is that it is within sight of the historic Camak House.
First time visiting and were shocked with their French toast. Different and very good. Cant wait to go back for the French toast and coffee 😋
Had a great omelette. Pleasant and helpful staff. Still dont understand tipping ahead - seems you should do at the end of service is good. Service was good!
Great lunch. Food was fresh and tasty. Make sure to stop by!
I got the Bird’s Nest and my friend got the Florentine. They were great and not too expensive. Service was pretty good. We got our food before our waters, but otherwise a really nice place to grab brunch!
I was cutting through the neighborhood while following directions to a different cafe and saw your place. Decided to try it. Ill come back every time I am in Athens. It doesnt take much to see you have good leadership. Members of your staff were pleasant and efficient. Service, food, and atmosphere were amazing. Thank you for your commitment to your craft. Ill be back. GV
I made an effort to hit all the breakfast spots in athens (there are a tonand this is the best. Good price. Great food. A must stop
Big City Bread put out the most flavorful food for our Athens Therapist Gathering event. The staff were all super friendly as well.
Breakfast was delicious. The home fried potatoes were fried to perfection, the breads (I had sourdough and wife had the baguette sliceswere delicious. We had an order of french toast as well that was delicious.
My first time trying this place out. I loved it. The food was warm and seasoned well. The potatoes are the star of the show. I would definitely come back. The service was great as well.
Have had nothing but a good experience here. The staff is very friendly and conscious about healthy distances.Food and the coffee are great & outside seating is available. I say go try it!
Nice breakfast spot. The omelet was very food. My iced Chai tea was even better.
Overcooked fries, minimal ingredients in the sandwich topped off by an air of superiority by the staff. Shame, it has such a nice outdoor seating area.
Don’t come hungry. The food and service was great, but the portions are small.
Nice place for a casual breakfast. Pretty good selection of menu items for a small kitchen. Good coffees and lots of seats if the outside weather is nice but it can get crowded.
A great brunch place - the food is consistently excellent. Of course, being excellent in Athens means a crowd, and BCBC is no exception. There was a long wait. The other issue is parking, specifically the lack thereof. The restaurant is in a neighborhood and parking is difficult to find when the restaurant is crowded.
Parking: they put up a sign warning customers shouldnt park in the nearby Wendys parking lot in case of towing. I dont think they have their own parking lot but there are plenty of street parking available in front of this cafe; Or you can park at a nearby apartment complex just 1 block down the road for a quick meal :).The line was long on a Sunday morning (from the counter to the outdoor sitting outside, we waited for about 30-40mins). Its different from other brunch places in that you have to wait in line to order your food, and then get a table later. But once we ordered, the food came out pretty quick (~5-10mins). I got a Birds nest (a slice of bread with a fried egg in the middlewith sausage and half a french toast. My friend got a Quiche plate with potatoes and biscuit. Overall, the food was quite good: quiche/biscuit was soft and french toast was right amount of sweetness. Staffs were friendly; however, they were a bit short-staffed when we came so we had to wipe down a table for our sitting (all other empty tables were also dirty).
Good place for brunch! It would be better, if they have more options. ( I didn’t see benedicts on Saunday🧐)
Been coming to this place for 20 years and it has always been consistently awesome. Food is always fresh, coffee is great and you cant beat the atmosphere. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches but you really cant go wrong with anything. Come on a nice morning and enjoy the patio for sure.
Trust me its worth the wait there is a wait LOL. Absolutely great customer service all the time and people that are genuine and care about what theyre doing. The food is always fresh and delicious but the employees attitude and just adds to the greatness of the place. Theres great outside seating, and its nothing better than supporting local people.
Got the French toast. It was good portion. A little bland but overall pretty good. Good place for breakfast or brunch.
The food is good but the lady with short black hair who took our order was extremely rude, ignoring customers, and charged us extra money that she then had to correct. just not pleasant at all
Have always enjoyed the food Ive gotten here. My go-to is the quiche and potatoes. Issue Ive had lately is the temp is a bit cool inside and my already just warm food is quick to get cold. No complaints otherwise though.
Showed up with a friend at a time that was 100% during hours. Online and on the paper displayed in the window showed we were there all within the correct timeframe. No other posting described why they weren’t open, even their holiday times. I don’t usually complain but the last I ordered from here my French toast was literally raw bread that was slightly toasted on just 1 side. I’ve loved this place for years but when I went to took my dad today it was bizarre and I’ve been disappointed.
Cute and quaint little cafe. The line was long but moved quickly. A bunch of mask-less college students cut the line and noone said anything. They were sold out of a lot of things including the 2 things i wanted so i pulled a quick change and got a Biscuit sandwich. We sat outside. It was pleasant and quiet. Food came super fast and all of the staff was friendly and working diligently. The biscuit egg sandwich was delightful. The biscuit was buttery and soft, slightly crumbly but overall enjoyable. The egg was cooked nicely, a bit fried around the edge but the bacon was cooked well. Would have liked a bit more S&P but it was delicious. My G.Fs potatos were delicious and cruspy with the old bay seasoning, I think I ate more of them then she did.
Oh my… had the bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese for brunch along a taste of wifey’s French toast. Homemade goodness! Everything was excellent and once you make it through the line to order, delivery was very fast.
This place is convenient and has good atmosphere. It’s a great place to get brunch with friends and the outdoor seating is great. My complaint is that the food is just…meh. It always feels under seasoned, flavorless. This last time I asked them to season my breakfast sandwich and it was still extremely bland.
Good breakfast spot. Nice outdoor seating.
Love their eggs Benedict!!Very friendly staff. Will come back here for sure!
Very good food. Cafe is clean. Service is great. Prices are reasonable for the portion and quality of food. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Great food, but there has to be a better system for waiting in line for an hour to order. Ill be back!!
Deliciousness! The line was insanely long. But everyone even staff had masks on. So that was nice they care about the public! The food was excellent, cooked to order.Didnt interact with staff much at all, but all had masks on so thats positive in it self. Will def be back
My intuition tells me this place probably does some things well, like brunch. I’ve never been. However, this is not the kind of restaurant where you can expect to absolutely love everything you order. Some experiences are likely better than others. Mine was not so great, but I can tell other people were enjoying their food more than I was. I would approach Big City like you would a Denny’s. You don’t order the steak dinner because you’re bound to be disappointed. Get one of the fancy desserts from behind the glass and a cup of coffee. That’s what people come here for, so some self-awareness and loyalty to mission will increase the chances of your satisfaction.
Wow! Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Had the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with half order of French toast. Biscuit was absolutely incredible with excellent flavor. The toast was cooked to a crisp perfection with nice hints of cinnamon/vanilla.
Brunch service was fast and friendly and the food is great! Love the art on the walls. Also this place has catered lunch to my workplace quite a bit and the sandwiches are delicious too :)
The food was amazing !! The food didn’t take long to come out . They gave great portion sizes . 10/10 would recommend . I went for brunch but I will be back for lunch one day soon . The staff was friendly and the place left homey . My only wish is that they had a kids menu .
I ordered eggs, bacon and potatoes and also a croissant with strawberry jam.The food was average nothing special really. The potatoes unfortunately were fried to death. The croissant was really good; however, the strawberry jam was not strawberry jam. It was a Smucker’s package of High Fructose Corn Syrup, some more Corn Syrup and some more Sugar. Look at the ingredients. Yuk. Of all the choices this world has to offer, this is what you serve your customers for jam? Way to ruin my croissant.
Stopped by here for breakfast while we were visiting campus. It was crowded (Sunday AMbut we were able to order & get our food fairly quickly. We had the broccoli quiche, continental breakfast, and French toast (full order). The quiche was hot/fresh and the continental breakfast was good too (we especially enjoyed the biscuits). The French toast was great; it was on French bread so was very chewy (in a good wayand flavorful (it was a lot of food so might get the half order the next time)Will be back next time we are in Athens!
Good quality of food, fair prices and super nice staff. The outdoor dining environment was beautiful and peaceful in the morning.
Big City has really figured out a smooth, safe system in the pandemic. Ive always loved sitting on their patio and now its essential. I came for a late lunch and everything was quick and tasty. The quiche was perfect and not overdone. I like that they have many healthy lunch options along with the baked goods, but they definitely can fill the comfort food void if you need that.
I went there for Saturday morning brunch and I was not disappointed. I went with the grits with two scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Eggs and grits were delicious, fresh, and well prepared. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere with plenty of choices tea and coffee. You like specialized coffee and unique tea this is the place for you. You are like me and get your caffeine from soda you will be out of luck but the food makes up for it. They also have a nice selection of pastries.
We wanted a place for breakfast that was local to Athens, off the beaten path and had good food. Well. We found it. We walked up from the Hyatt Place. It was a nice walk through some of the neighborhoods. The Big City Bread Cafe is tucked away in a cute little building with a big front patio. The staff were very nice and helpful. You walk in and order at the counter and then they bring your food out. It was quick. Perfect Sunday morning brunch spot! Well worth the walk from our hotel!
Great breakfast spot with fresh bread and baked goods. Plenty of patio seating in addition to within the cafe. Expect lines, but they are worth it.
The cappuccino I ordered was respectable. I also ordered the Monsieur and the Madame (one for the wife; one for myself), which were both phenomenal. You owe it to yourself to go order one. Or both.
We decided to try this place based on recommendations in a local vegan group, but Im sitting here feeling conflicted because after making a couple of inquiries about specific menu items and spending $50 for two adults and a child, another employee snarked to the person taking our order, "Have you ever even had a vegan biscuit?"**ETA The food arrived in a large saucer and with dairy butter on our toast. Not a very welcoming nor budget friendly experience. Fork for perspective.
My food was delivered to my table super fast, was flavorful and beautiful! Locally roasted coffee, great, homey ambiance, amazing bread baked on location and great staff!
This place was great! Our group of 5 included a vegetarian, a low-carb dieter, and a picky 7 year old - and they managed to feed us all well. Not only that, but everything was fresh and delicious (I admit to stealing a bite of it alland it was all very attractively presented. The staff was super friendly & even the waitress trainee seemed to know her stuff. Wed definitely go again!
Been going here for many years. A favorite in the Athens area! Best quiche in town, awesome outside seating - and inside. Beautiful baked goods and excellent coffee. ;)
Homey atmosphere, delicious food, great service! Definitely recommend the omelette and French toast.
One of the best brunch spots in town. Everything Ive had on the menu has been high quality and delicious. I absolutely love the biscuits and grits!
