Big Chief RV Parks & Extended Stay Cabins - in Ponca City, United States
Love this place, so friendly. Great pull through sites and full hook ups.
This place is amazing! Im coming back again for sure.I loved the pool, the lake, the location, the walking trail and that its close to spider mountain.
Friendly place. The travelers are nice and courteous about noice. Pool are is awesome. Great lake views.
We just got back from Big Chief and enjoyed our stay and will be back. Everything was clean and well maintained and you cant beat the view!
We are new to RVing and have googled many rv parks. This caught our eye and we went there the last week in Sept. It was absolutely wonderful. We had great lake views and went kayaking and one day just sat in our tubes and watched the many birds, and fish that jump up out of the water. It is such a nice clean and friendly place, with great staff. Loved the trash and charcoal ash pick up every day, and the pool and hot tub were great. We just loved it and will return for sure. Best park we have been to so far!! Name under the booking was John Haning
The best RV park. We had a great time there. Clean great staff wonderful pool. Best sunsets ever!!
What a great RV Park. Very quite, clean and relaxing place to pull your camper/RV. I will be coming back.
Great place to visit away from the big crowds of people. Great location with plenty to do onsite and nearby. Everyone that we spoke with working at this resort was very nice and always cleaning or working on something to help improve this place. Make sure to wear shoes and check your pets feet because there are a lot of stickers everywhere. Awesome pool and Hot Tub along with guest lodge.
Nice and quiet, just what we were looking for to have a quick weekend RV get a way ! Having been coming here for years, this was much better from a management perspective. Was running much smoother this trip, thank you !
We really enjoyed the park location and its amenities. The pool is really nice.We only wish our site were leveled near the utilities and a leveled are for the table.
Large wooded sites with shade. Beautiful views of the lake. Spaces are not concrete pads and some of them are not very level but, none the less, one of our favorite places to camp.
Beautiful place! Nice level rv spots.
This is a great place! Pool and hot tube very clean. Lots of room.
One of my favorite RV spots by far! Clean grounds, sweet people, wonderful playground for my toddler. Had an amazing time at the pool. Thanks big chief for an awesome stay. We will be back.
Great place! Has the lake and a pool !Nice walks, trails. Staff is friendly.
Weve been here several times and we have enjoyed every single time we have been here. The property is clean bathrooms are clean everyone is friendly and helpful. We live 2 1/2 hours away and we prefer this place as our first option then the others that are way closer to home. Id recommend coming here.
Had a great couple days here during the middle of the week. Very close to the lake to cool off from the Texas heat! Place was well kept and plenty of pull thru sites available with full hook ups. Would travel here again!
Very clean and organized! The staff are very attentive and helpful. The only reason not 5 stars is no concrete pads and no air in bathroom/showers. But, would definitely recommend.
Great place with boat ramp, pool, playground and nature trail. Full hookups, laundry and small store. Nice pavilion for large groups.
Great stay. Friendly and very helpful staff. Highly recommend this RV park. Clean and safe. Beautiful view of the lake.
It was our first visit to Big Chief, and we really enjoyed our stay. Facilities were nice and well maintained. It was a a good RV layout and great lake access. We would definitely go back!
What a beautiful setting. A lot of RV parks we have stayed at have a somewhat under-managed feel to them. Either there are very few to no amenities, lots of trash, or just unfriendly staff. Not the case with these folks. From Sheryl (pardon if I misspelledin the office who was most helpful, to the pristine grounds (I mean not even a cigarette butt or two on the ground that I could findeverything exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back.
Our new favorite place to camp locally. The staff is wonderful! So friendly! Clean park! Plus cute swimming pool and lake access! Quiet and peaceful but still so much fun!
We LOVE this place! Clean, friendly, lake access.
Just finished a week stay here at Big Chief. The sites are spacious, the staff keeps the grounds extremely clean and groomed, and they are also very helpful and friendly. Boat ramp and dock was good even with low water conditions. Pool was wonderful. Definitely will stay here again.
This park was very well maintained and clean. We loved being able to load and unload our boat inside the park, the beach area, the pool, the restrooms, and the trash pickup. Thank you so much for an enjoyable stay.
We love that this place! We will likely keeping going back every year. It has lake front access and full hookups for our trailer. The sites are fairly level for the most part. Only negative is there are not many water view slots, though none are a long walk from the water. They also have a boat launch for guests or you can pay to use the boat ramp, if you are not staying there.
I have no experience to share. Im giving a 1 star and maybe thats not fair. My vehicle broken down and there was no way to make it to our destination. I paid for 3 sites. Only 1 family made it. One family had COVID so they could not make it, no refund. Our vehicle broken down, no rentals available, UHaul was well over 1k and family did not have a tow vehicle we could borrow; no refund. 1 star is given because they would not give any credit for a future rental and they still charged me for 5 adults even though 0 adults were there. I heard that it is a great place but please be sure to have travel insurance before booking. We wont book there again because you neve know what obstacles may come your way.
This is a very nice park, nice staff, but they are very, very strict on rules. Used this park twice. Nice to have a dock for loading and unloading boat, nice concrete boat ramp. Would be nice if the new fishing guide service dock was further away from the ramp, hinders launching when they have their boats there. Would alsobe nice, since you have to beach your boat, if they would clean up the rocks where they expect you to beach your $40k boat. With as strick as they are on rules, it would be nice if they enforced the NO swimming on the boat dock. Numerous times was not able to let my elderly mother off the boat at the dock and had to make her climb off the boat after beaching it.Id stay here again because its nice, but I know the limitations and Ill probably complain next time about the boat dock swimmers if my mother is there.
Nice staff, excellent view, clean facilities , great service. I would give him a 5 star but we have a scary experience with a German shepherd owned by a close by RV. They had 2 and I was afraid of going to the restroom. Then looked aggressive and barked a lot. I decided to take my little dogs 4-7 pounds one by one to walk in case the German shepherd got out . Ofcourse that happened one evening , it was scary, one of the ladies in a golf cart from the office followed him. I am glad she was close by. Other than that, it was an excellent place and we felt safe.
Its just OK...We took the kids here for spring break and planned on staying a week but we were pretty disappointed and ended up leaving early. It was clean and pretty nice but there were a lot of places where they could easily improve to make it a much better experience. 1)The pool was not heated and was miserably cold. 2the playground had been removed because it appeared to be rotten. 3There was glass from broken bottles scattered on the swim beach. 4No fishing pier and the water was too shallow to catch anything. 5the biggest disappointment is there were no firepits at the campsites, meaning no smores, no campfires, etc...these things really took away from what could have been a great experience and should be easy to fix. This has the potential to be an amazing camp ground
My husband and I stayed here in one of their cabins over this past weekend. We just loved it. Clean park, nice spacing between the RVs, gorgeous lake views and wonderful staff. They have a great pool too but we did not take advantage as it was still a bit chilly for us. We absolutely plan to come back and spend a lot of time here this summer. We highly recommend!
we travel full time and stay at all types of RV parks. I LOVE big Chief! We stayed in a buddy sight which was an absolute blast, huge sight with beautiful trees and a view.We mountain bike so we stayed here for a little over a week to bike at Spider Mountain which was very close. Great home base for the area. So much to do nearby state parks and lakes.Everyone that worked there was wonderful and kind made us feel very welcome and comfortable.
This was so clean and well provided for. Had everything you need. Office, laundry room with a treadmill and lending library, lobby room with TV and videos to use, showers at the pool (unheated outdoorwith hot tub too, playground, access to the lake......Service workers always out and about. We will be returning.
I dont know where to start on this review!! Staff, Cheryl was so wonderful from the 1st call I made to Big Chief RV Resort. Our site was just amazing, with a view of Lake Buchanan. Sunsets were magical, the swing by the water made us feel like the only 2 there. Fishing tour option was so convenient. I just cant say enough good things, except book soon! Well definitely be back!
No refund, credit or change of stay for covid. Purchased a 2 night cabin stay for son & daughter in law. They tested positive for covid the night before their stay. Called management the day of the stay to let them know they had covid & need to reschedule the stay. They said they cannot give a credit, change the stay dates or give a refund. Very poor management! My husband & I have stayed several times in the rv section & have always liked the facilities.
Nice, quite isolated location. Sites are wide with grass in-between. Roads and pads are crushed granite and drain fast. Park has boat dock, and a fair amount of lake front. Only a few sites are view sites. Nice swimming pool and hot tub. A 9 hole disc course in mostly open field, good for those less then perfect throws. Good signal with at&t.
Very nice RV resort. Clean, well maintained and very nice staff. Always make you feel comfortable. A park where morality, common sense and respect is still alive. The lake is absolutely amazing and beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
This is an amazing place! The park fits in well with the surrounding area. They have deer feeders up and they come every night, in fact we had two babies right outside our window. They keep it very clean inside and outside. The view is beautiful we were in lot 66 and could look out our front window and see the lake. This is by far the most beautiful park we have stayed at. Thank you for such a great place.
We stayed four nights five days in cabin number eight. It was a wonderful time all together there was somewhere between 20 and 30 people at our weekend event. Several people had cabins others had their RVs or campers. We celebrated my sisters 50th birthday there. The staff was incredible everything was clean even the pool and hot tub was really nice. I didnt fish it was too hot, but others did fish and they enjoyed it. I did go out on the boat the lake was gorgeous. I plan to return!!!
My wife and I are full time RVers. We just completed 13 nights at Big Chief RV Park. You can feel confident when booking here. Allan is the owner, very nice and personable. He has an RV radio spot on Wed. nights on a San Antonio Radio station. Cheryl at the front office will reserve your spot and greet you. Cheryl is very nice. There are two ladies that work their hearts out to make the park “clean, roads smooth, pool clean, pick up your trash, and help you any way possible.” One name is Kim and the other lady I apologize, but do not know. Both are SUPER! Allan is lucky to have them! The ultimate selling point is it is right on Lake Buchanan and full of Texans! Don’t hesitate to book here. Benny and Denise.
We really felt at home when we stayed at the Big Chief RV Resort. The staff is very friendly and enthusiastic. Also, we were impressed by how clean the bathrooms, clubhouse, and grounds were. Our family will definitely return- thanks Big Chief RV Resort for a great camping experience.
Big chief is a nice place to spend a weekend. We went with others who also had an RV. they have companion sites, so you can set up your rig facing each other. Spaces are a little close together, but all our neighbors were great, so we didn’t have any problems. There is fishing and boating. burnet is only a few minutes away in case you need something. We needed something to repair our trailer. There is the best little hardware store right by big chief that sells everything you can imagine. It may be a small thing, but when your RV is not working, it was a life saver.
Absolutely the best! Staff. Office manager. Polite. Helpful in every way. We were here during the Feb ‘21 Texas freeze. We had planned to be here 3-4 days and head further south. And then. The storms hit. We will DEFINITELY RETURN! Hopefully during warmer weather:-THANKS Big Chief‼️
We are 5 days into an 8 day stay and so far its been fantastic. The scenery is great, sunsets are amazing, staff is very friendly, and the grounds are clean. Easy access to some good bank fishing for kids as well. We will be staying here again for sure.
Clean, friendly. Beautiful. Pool is open. Ive never been here before but things seem pretty open now. We enjoyed a live concert with Roger Hurricane Wilson a few days ago. Sunsets are amazing every night. Great place to relax, fish, and play with family afriends.
Staff could be more friendly. There are a lot of rules which they make it very clear from day 1 that you must follow the rules or face potential fines. For being a more "upscale" RV park you are not getting your monies worth. WiFi and cell service is non existent. Management has shut down everything due to COVID, I feel more to make money not to keep everyone safe. Pool was closed, restrooms closed, clubhouse and store closed. They should lower price since everything is shut down. We had a much better time at other parks for less money and more open amenities.
Great location. Unfortunate that management is scared to operate the pool during COVID. As someone who travels for work across the country and sees pools open in hotels everywhere, this is extremely disheartening and upsetting. Safety protocols can be followed, and people can still have fun. The pool is a key feature of this location. The management has an obscure statement on their website stating that the pool may or may not be open. They should be more proactive and update it regularly to keep visitors informed. Otherwise we would have not booked the trip and would have stayed home. I’m only giving this campground 3 stars because management needs to do a better job of posting this information. Outside of this, the campground is clean and the spots are level.
An amazing place I stayed in a waterfront cute cozy cabin ..the interior is made of cedar it smells wonderful. Being in tune with nature was so peaceful and mind soothing. The spectacular sunsets are beyond beautiful. Having morning coffee on the point overlooking Pelican Island is a must..!! The staff is very accommodating and they make you feel like family...coming to this campground one time will make you want to come back again and again... thank so very much for having me here..😊
What a lovely park! Very clean, friendly staff and beautiful views. Fishing was great fun. I camped with the Texas Girls Camp group and the camp was very accommodating. The park was also full of families. So nice to see moms, dads and kiddos out enjoying camping and making memories. The pool and hot tub were also great. Such a pretty pool!
