Big Chief Drive-In - Hamburger restaurant in Gadsden, United States
Very sloppy. The food tasted good but I couldnt even pick the hot dog up. Chill running everywhere.
One of the best burgers in town! Friendly employees and great service!
Always good memories from highschool...Fridays nights for big chief fries peanut butter shakes...eww wee Im hungry...still a great place...
The burger was tasty and hot and the onion rings were crispy! The ladies at the counter were very friendly!
Good food at a decent price. Service was good. Would recommend
Best Ever Peanut Butter MilkshakeWorth a 10 hour trip
Good food, always fresh and hot. Not crazy about newer fries they have but they arent bad either. Butterscotch shake is great
This place is the best! Friendly fun and good. I would go more if closer.
Passing by we saw that all the locals were there for lunch. Food was great. The place needs an overhaul on decorating, painting and repairs. It is starting to get the run down look. Wished we could have gave it a 5 star...
Best burger in town 😋🤤 🍔 loved it. So Juicy n cheesey Fresh their fries 🍟 are so fresh n hot PERFECTION!
Great food, good price in a small town. I had the Noah burger and butterscotch shake, both very delicious. I will definitely eat here again anytime I pass by Glencoe. I wanna try the other shake flavors.
Real good fried pickle spears! Also, try the grape milkshake! Ordered chesseburger and fries, today, it took 30+ minutes to get to car?????Update 30 Jan 22: ordered cheeseburger "deluxe", after I got home (20 miles laterI discovered I got a regular burger no CHEESE and no onion!!!Been back a few times, its faster ordering, since we can go inside, now!
Great place to get burgers fromBut prices or outrageous2 chuck burgers, 2 onion rings and 2 medium sweet teas $26.00Had to wait 35 minutes
Great food. Nostalgic atmosphere. Very enjoyable.
They left out 2 orders of fries, but the cheeseburger and onion rings were DELICIOUS!!!
Had the hamburger with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, pickles ext. Onion rings and sweet tea. The food was great. Cooked fresh.👍👍
This is a great restaurant. The only indoor seating is at a counter looking out an extra large window looking out at the highway. There is plenty of picnic tables for outdoor seating. You go inside to order then, when your order is ready your first name is called you go back to pick up your order. Have a seat at the counter, one of the picnic tables, or your car and enjoy your ample meal. You most definitely get your moneys worth of delicious food. You cant go wrong with Big Chef Drive-in in Glenco, Alabama, located on Highway 431.
Great ice cream, milkshakes, and a killer banana split. I’m told their burgers are hand packed, and their onion rings are the best for miles around.
A large selection of fare and it was lovely weather to eat outside.
Not many classic places Left in the United States to grab a bite! Well worth the stop ..order the onion rings!!!
Love this old place. The food quality has never changed in all of the years that I have been eating here. Stopped by today and as always it was great! I hope they last for many more years...
Fried green tomato sandwich was amazing. I also got a peach milkshake. New favorite lunch spot!
This one closes a little earlier than I expected on a Saturday night and we almost missed it. Just make sure you know what time they close and you will be good to go. If we lived closer we would definitely frequent this place but unfortunately we don’t.
Awesome burgers and service is pretty nice. The belly buster is just what its called a belly buster. If youre not fully satisfied when youre done eating then go see your Dr. because you might have a tape worm lol. But overall its a great place for a great burger and its very family friendly
Grilled chicken sandwich was great. Burger was great. Footlong hot was not a footlong it was 2 hard nasty regular hotdogs fried- yuck.
They was prompt also courtesy was display. The food was fresh, delicious and it satisfied my cravings. Also I was full not desiring anything else at an affordable price too
The best burger I have had in a long time. Frys need some work.
We decided last minute to go out. Even though we came close to closing, they were very fast at getting out our food. It was amazing as always.
This place has been around since I was at kid and its still as good as I remember! I live in Jacksonville, FL and it was such a treat to stop by and taste something from the past.
Best double cheeseburger And onion rings I’ve had in a long time. Not a long wait for my to go order, friendly young ladies at the counter. There is some truck parking out front of it’s not packed out or pull in behind the restaurant and park. Great food ant great prices.
Good cheeseburger, still warm if the grill, hot tater tots and a medium drink. Way better tasting than any burger Ive had since I arrived in Gadsden. The downside? For two combo meals, as described above, it cost $20 and change. Heck of a lot for hamburgers but I guess we have politicians to thank for this. Ive paid similar prices for non-chain burgers here as well.
My second time to eat here and it was just as good as the first. Employees were great and food was wonderful. Only problem they had was NO onionrings this time. Oh well Ill get em next time. Yes, there will be a next time.
I have passed by this place many times in my life but not chosen to come here until recently. The food is very good. The lobby has reopened and they have seasonal milkshakes which sadly I did not notice that until after I already ordered mine otherwise I definitely would have tried the eggnog milkshake
fried pickles were great. fries were fresh but very bland. the chicken sandwich was not a grilled chicken breast but rather a compressed patty. not what I expected. also the mushrooms were very bland, add more seasoning
Have always loved it but today was a very bad visit. Onion rings was very cold and my husbands chuck burger had a 12 inch or longer hair in it... made us both sick.
I always love finding local dining places when traveling especially ones that have a lot of home town spirit. This place definitely didn’t let me down and the food was absolutely amazing. Oh and did I forget to mention??? Best shakes I’ve had in a while with many different flavor combinations to choose from!!!!!!!
Delicious! Friendly service. One of the best burgers Ive ever had. Sweet tea was freshing on a hot Aug day. Oh and the grape milkshake was sooo good. Thanks for letting me taste a sample before I ordered the milkshake.
If you want a real no bull homemade style burger that takes you back to the days of small town burger joints then this is the place to go! It doesnt get anymore Americana than this for old style burger joints! I highly recommend the chuck special with cheese, Belly Buster with cheese, and the onion rings! On some occasions the onion rings are less than perfect but 98% of the time they are amazing!
We took a sick relative to bring back good memories. It worked!! The twin burger basket fed us for lunch and supper. My sweet tea was so good. THANKS BIG CHIEF!! YOURE A SUPER STAR but you already knew that!😉
pretty good food, friendly staff. usually pretty busy but reasonably fast for a little place. its all pull up and have a seat a a picnic table, which are plastic coated & kept very clean, & waitstaff will come to you. tiniest bathroom youve ever seen though!love their new order & Cash out system! instead of a paper check, they hand you a tablet with your order on it & you submit payment yourself! So you can tip & know everything is right, & the system drops a receipt in your email... Ill have to ask how that works, as I dont recall ever giving it to them
Very local and old fashioned Drive-Inn. My father is actually the one who told me about this place, said he used to go there as a teenager. We were in the area and wanted some dinner so we stopped and check it out. The servers were friendly and even made us laugh a bit =they have a simple menu, but everything is hand-made. Very similar to Sonic but with a nice local and home-made touch. I got the chuck burger with O-Rings and a drink. My wife got a Fried Green Tomato BLT with fries and a chocolate shake. Everything was out to us within 10mins of ordering and it was all hot and delicious. Ill definitely be coming back and highly recommend a visit.
A group of 8 of us showed up the Big Chief about 30 minutes until close. Although I don’t enjoy overloading staff this close to closure, the staff were incredibly welcoming to a bunch of rambunctious golfers.Great service and fantastic food. I’d suggest the patty melt. Don’t forget to add a chocolate shake!
Drive along ways to get the burgers here.Awesome food. Awesome people working there. Got to go back and get a banana split
We stopped by a local restaurant called the Big Chief. The building caught our attention and we looked up the menu online. I had the Noah burger which included bacon, egg, and bologna which was amazing! Spent about $25 including a tip on two adults and two kids.
Great service to match the outstanding food they are serving!! Me and my crew spend 300 days of the year on the road all across the United States for 2-3 weeks at a time in one location. The Big Chief, by far, is one of the best joints we’ve been privileged enough to enjoy. I called needing 15 burgers and 15 onion rings to feed my crew. They didn’t even check up!! They had me ready in 30 minutes. Great job by great people!!
Big Chief Drive-In is a classic drive-up burger joint in Glencoe, AL. Theyre serving up some of the best cheeseburgers, hand-dipped ice cream, and milkshakes in the Gadsden area. Try the Chuck Burger Combo with onion rings, and top it off with a grape milkshake. Theres plenty of outdoor seating, as well as a covered patio thats heated during cold weather. If youre looking for a great place near Gadsden to grab lunch, dinner, or dessert, drive out to Big Chief in Glencoe!
Friendly and informative staff...thank you, Julie! The food was very good. My wife had the old fashioned burger combo with onion rings. They were seasoned just right and tasted great. I tried the Noah Burger. It was delicious! We also enjoyed a side of mushrooms that were perfectly seasoned. This is a GREAT local business; well eat here again!
I will be honest, I am not a fan of most of their food! It’s just seems very bland to me. However the nostalgia of the place is great! They have corn-hole outside that you can play. While old 50’s and 60’s music in the background is playing. Wonderful place to stop for something like an ice cream!
Burgers just like I love them. Lots of toppings. Meat is great. Real chicken fingers. If for some reason you want a custom anything just tell them. Onion rings have that wonderful tempura texture. Milkshakes have good consistency. Fries are not soaked in salt.Dont expect any health food here. Just lots of deep fried southern food. And its so damn good. On Friday there were a lot of people that cruised up on some really nice custom cars. If you just drive by it looks like some terrible hole thats due for a refresher coat of paint. I suppose the priority is on the food. Rumor is that the food quality is far better than it was in the past.
This place is for the nostalgic in all of us. I really liked the look of it! They didnt have two of the flavors of ice cream that we had ordered but, what we did end up getting, was good.
