The 45-m. marble Buddha statue on a mountaintop offers panoramic views, a cafe & gift shop.
What an amazing experience, both mentally and spiritually.Beautiful temple with a rich history. If you do plan on going here, please dress conservatively(shoulders covered and nothing short/skimpy). They do have a shop that sells scarves if you find yourself inappropriately dressed.Carry cash with you if youre planning to donate, as that money goes to charity and towards building and maintaining the temple.
Got up really early to enjoy a sunrise at The Big Buddha. The weather was just nice and the panoramic views were spectacular. Definitely a place that needs to be visited if you’re ever in Phuket.
Big Buddha is impressive and all, but the REAL experience is hiking up the mountain through the jungle to get there. If youre into nature and somewhat athletic, youll enjoy it a lot.The view is spectacular, but be prepared to sweat and get a sunburn.
Great spot for a day tour. Tue statue is huge and you can even be a part of it by buying tiles and put your name on it. The statue is made entirely on donations!Unfortunately for us we went on a rainy day, so we couldnt see the beautiful views from the top. You can even see Phi Phi island on a clear day. But other than the rain it was great.
Its really amazing experience to see this place. Big Buddha, many other gods and goddesses of Hindu and Buddhist tradition. Meditation sessions and blessings by Buddhists monk. Place give you peace and wondered both in one visit. Highly recommended for all age group
Beautiful temple with amazing views (as shown on the photos & video). Not many steps to climb to see the amazing views. Little stalls nearby for refreshments. I would recommend a visit here during a holiday in Phuket.
Whether you want to visit because you appreciate the art, religion, or selfies, this is a great spot to visit. The statue is huge! Its also beautiful. The statue is at the top of the hill which gives you a beautiful view of Phuket from one of the highest points on the island.Ive read that there were monkeys around the statue, but didnt see any the day that I visited... Im very sad that I missed them! Where did they go!?Make sure you wear appropriate clothing when visiting, but they sell sarongs at decent prices at the entrance if you need to cover up. There is also a souvenir shop with some cool stuff if you want to get some items for friends or memories.
This place is a must visit if you are in Phuket. The view is really beautiful from the top. Buddha statue is really astonishing l. You can click some great pictures there.
This place has some amazing views and you can see everything from this height! You walk up to see an amazing view right in front of you, get ready to take many pictures.Enjoy the meditation up top next to the big Buddha and enrich yourself with some of the huge bays and beaches you can see around.
Fab sight in Phuket, easily accessed. They’re doing large amounts of restoration at the moment but nothing that’s in the way or ruins the experience and personally it’s nice to see the care going back in - there is some sort of project and from what I gathered donations and the charity buys near the end all go towards this. Every baht helps! The view is incredible. It’s not the easiest to drive up so unless you’re a confident driver by car or bike I’d jump in a taxi, but it is steep. Maybe I’m just a nervous passenger, many will probably find it easy. Lots of bikes at the top so obviously accessible.Cafes ets around and there’s a shop that sells some beautiful backpacks for a very modest price (I’m not usually a shopper but couldn’t help myself)! As always, appropriate clothing or you’ll have to buy on way in.
Very beautiful place to visit. Suggestions female please wear knee length short and shirt with sleeves. Or else the temple would ask you to buy the sarong. Which it cost 150 THB.Another caution this place have a lot of monkeys.
Amazing to see the Big Buddha on our trip to Phuket. Great place for a 1 hour visit up the hill. The air is fresh, the place is peaceful and serene. Male sure to wear long pants and shirts with sleeves as a respect. Many sculptures to see and even enter the Big Buddha building to see some finishing works to the interior.
As one would expect, it is very peaceful and serene place. The drive up to the hill is steep at places so you may take a cab instead of driving but one visit is a must when you are in Phuket. The calmness of this gigantic figure coupled with the elegant sea view just gives a relaxing feeling
This is a cool place with a great view! Annoyingly people fly drones around which spoils the atmosphere. But if you at sunset you can see it in the day and then lit up at night which is beautiful. There is nothing inside, but you can walk around and there are meditation spaces too. They have a dress code of shoulders, belly and knees covered so make sure you’re dressed appropriately. The views over the bay are wonderful too. I recommend spending about 15 min here.
Free entry to an impressively large statues and a bunch of smaller statues of different Buda. There are a few small shops at the base of the temple for food and souvenirs. It appeared offerings for blessings were available in the temple. Also great view of the city below.
Nice place to visit. No entrance or cover fee.Entrance only with "respectful" clothing. So, be prepared before you visit.Otherwise you can buy "clothes" directly at entrance area for 150 baht for trash items, which you can buy somewhere else for half price. You find a wonderful view over the south west part of phuket (Kata Beach area, etc.)
The Bi g Buddha is a place you can reflect about life as you overlook the surrounding area.Easily accessible by car, please remember to cover your shoulders with clothing as a sign of respect to their religion. Also the monkeys are aggressive, especially when it comes to wrapped food.Like packets of crisps.
Great 1-hour hike to the Big Buddha from Kata. The trail is lovely for anyone who enjoys a bit of a climb in the forest. Its not hard, but youll sweat :Get there in time for the sunset and enjoy the gorgeous view of the bay - either from the Big Buddha or from one of the lovely cafes on the road below that serve good food and great fresh juice smoothies (try mango or watermelon!)
Enchanting place and an enchanting environment. The climb to the place is steep but worth the effort. You can park easily at the destination. The view is breathtaking and you can see the all sides of Phuket Island from the place. The temple is still under construction, but the statue of Buddha looks magnificent. There is no entry fee to the place, but donation is appreciated at the place. You can also buy some goods, whose proceed goes into charity.
Must see when in Phuket, free entry, however, make sure your legs and arms are mostly covered otherwise you might get stopped at the entrance and "forced" to buy a scarf (not very expensive). There are organized tours which take you to the top or you can walk on the sketchy trail which goes through the jungle. I would recommend to rent a scooter and drive up yourself. Fun drive.
It is a must visit place on Phuket. You can find several nice spots for taking beautiful pictures and of course a huge monument of Buddha that embodies serenity and calmness. We were there at the beginning of July and there were almost no tourists so it was really enjoyable journey. There is a nice terrace with a spectacular view but you have to be careful with the monkeys that are always waiting for a victims on the way to that spot.As a nice bonus you can find a few super cozy caffee with a breathtaking views. The best time to go there just before sunset so you can get unforgettable experience ✨️🔥👍
Amazing views and great for photo-taking. Very nice cultural place to visit but there were some construction going on. Hard to find a cab as the driver has to go up/down the mountain. Best if you find your own driver as the taxi providers at the attraction charge high prices. One even got angry at my driver for picking us up.
Beautiful spot for viewing, and the Buddha statue is breathtaking. For ladies wearing shorts or short dress, they sell a drape outside the entrance around 500 baht for you to wear it around your waist to cover your legs. If you are making a planned trip there perhaps worth it to wear appropriately or bring a scarf along for the same purpose to save some cost.
Wonderful views from this site over the coastal villages/ towns. The size of the Big Buddha is simply awesome as it stands well above the surrounding landscape. There are extensive maintenance projects underway and whilst this produces some unnatural workshop environment and noise, this is as limited as it could be. In all a must-do trip whilst in Phuket.
Get blessings from the monk, make donations, send blessing and requests… other than all the Buddhism goodness, it is quite cooling in shaded areas as it’s on a mountain top.Although parts of the Big Buddha is still under restoration work, it’s the best time to donate and add a marble tile, I’ve made wishes in 2019 and life has been much better even during COViD period. Now I’m back for thanksgiving and to strengthen the faith. Though I’m non-Buddhist.The viewpoint here of all the island … is amazing!!! Very nice for photo taking too!!!
No visit to Phuket would be complete without visiting this great vantage point. We visited in July 2022 and it was reasonably quiet and parking was really easy. There’s the usual stalls selling hats, clothes, drinks and ice creams - all reasonably priced.Overall a great way to spend an hour and take in some fantastic views.Mind the monkeys though, they can be a bit overly confident if you look like you have food.
The Phuket Big Buddha was being heavily renovated when we went there (which is why it was free at the time). If you buy a trinket or two, it helps them with the building costs. The big part was very cool, the view was amazing and the little stories and additional statues dotted around were fascinating. We travelled mid-June 2022, it was a rainy day and there werent heaps of people (which was great, I try to avoid queues and crowds). Even with the renovations, this is still an experience Id highly recommend.
Impressive statue on top of a mountain with a beautiful and steep road. The area is also active religious center so one needs to dress accordingly. You are also welcome to get blessed or participate in meditation. The view is spectacular 😍😍😍
A great concept. Beautiful views from the top of the hill. Excellent vantage point for seeing the whole of central West Phuket. The 3 star rating is due to the fact that the face of The Buddha lacks the gravity of Who it depicts. I would have liked to see a face that instill much more divinity.
The temple is currently under renovation. Please do not wear revealing clothing and shorts. They will require you to buy a sarong to cover up if the shorts is too short. This is another view point where you can have a great view of the entire Phuket. There is a stall just below the big Buddha where you can get some drinks and ice cream.
A must visit when you visit Phuket. The location is at high altitude and the way to reach there is full of greenery and beautiful. After getting to the top you will get the whole city view with cooling breeze. Architecture is great with white marble finish.A tip for my fellow ladies traveller - there are few guidelines about the dressing, carry 2 scarf if you are wearing off shoulder tops or shorts. This place has such good and peaceful vibes there.
WOW! although it was under renovation so some parts werent accessible but it was a goal to be there. The views are insane! The energy and vibe is noticeably different in the best possible way. Its an experience you can not miss. The monk was amazing and you feel more spiritually connected if you get prayed for and blessed by the monk.
A must visit when visiting to Phuket. It has such good vibes and peace there. The location is at an high altitude and the whole city can be seen from there. There are breathtaking views along with constant breeze. The architecture of it is also great with whole white finish marble. There are multiple small shops, places along with itself.
Must see for the views! It wasnt completely finished when we visited but was almost there. Remember to cover up if you visit but if you dont have appropriate clothes they can be bought very cheap at the entrance. All profits from the shop go to the charity. We also saw monkeys!
Very interesting to see. It was extremely hot, so hard to enjoy it as much, but under the Big Buddha there was a nice space for meditation with a fan. It was also interesting to see all of the weekday poses. My daughter loved writing a message on a tin leaf and hanging it up on the property.
I love to visit Thailand temples. This one did not disappoint we are very happy that we made the treck up the mountain, the view of the ocean is amazing and the Buddha is covered in marble. The construction is not finished yet. And I will be utterly amazing once it has been completely finished. Its still a must see when youre in Phuket
It was totally worth visiting.First of all you need to stay covered as its religious place.Secondly, Dont take pictures of monks or disrespect or touch them. The view is incredible and its amazing how we get to see this wonder.
Really amazing view, many nice statues (not only the big budhastairs and inner part is still under construction, but its not problem. Also many places where to buy refreshment and souvenirs. Not far from parking place. There are also monkeys in garden under budha.
Its a must-visit for 2 reasons, the beautiful scenery ; From a cultural and religious aspect. If you here on a fine day, or at least not raining, youre treated with stunning view of the landscape of Phuket. I was there on a cloudy day and it was surprisingly cool with nice wind. It made the stair the Big buddha. Do bring an umbrella and water bottle, youll be glad u did. As for ladies, there are guidelines on how to dress, you may wish to bring along a scarf to cover up your upper body, and a beach sarong to cover up your !
Breathtaking! The views from up there are incredible! The big buddha it’s self is so impressive! And so peaceful. You see a lot of people praying and meditating there. It’s Free entry. You do have to wear clothes that cover your shoulders and legs, however they do provide a bit of clothing if you forget! Also they have a gift shop which is nice to walk around
Great location! Very big Buddha as expected ;)Got to see a monk and received even blessings and a handmade bracelet. It is advised though to make a small donation to support the maintenance of the statue and of course the monks in that area. There is even a small secluded area for monkeys so that humans wont interfere with them but still be able to live a normal life. I really liked that and we saw a few monkeys even climbing out of their little reserve to get a few close up pictures with them. Great day
Worth coming just for the ride up! Before you even get to the top you can see some pretty awesome views. If you can drive a scooter up here as the sparsely populated roads makes for a nice ride. The views from the top are amazing and the Big Buddha itself is cool! You can even join in on meditation classes below it! Worth a trip definitely.
Big Buddha. Well its nice. And really you should go up here. Just for the experience. If you plan to hike... Its going to be gruesome hike, but lazy me think you should get a bike or taxi up here. When you are done and on your way down I recommend just chilling at one of its overlooking resto cafe.
Loved it. Fun like Scooter ride to get there. Its overwhelmingly massive. You get a humbling feeling while youre starting up. Definitely worth a trip
If you happen to be in PHUKET then Big Buddha visit is must. Its not about religion but about place to cherish for life. At this place the view of the city is just astounding. We were there on a sunny day and the entire city view was just mind-blowing. I would definitely recommend it to be part of you city tour. Place has a different charm and you feel calm with the entire surrounding. If you are spiritual (which I am notthen you would love to spend longer time at this place.Enjoy your visit to Big Buddha and please share your experience....
A beautiful monument with great souvenirs and a breathtaking atmosphere. Some chambers are undergoing renovation so Im sure itll be even better later!Im probably gonna go twice this vacation.
Its a nice place to look at scenery from but its half-finished, probably due to COVID-19, so lots of rough edges. Quite literally in fact for the steps and pathways which are still rocky and jagged in places.I think the sculptor didnt quite get the face of Buddha right though cos he has a quirky expression on his face that you wont find anywhere else in the world. Probably worth seeing just for that, I suppose.
Great place in all means. Sacred, grandeur, picturesque. You will find a lot of shrines, sculptures, and votive elements here. The gong is must have, too.Views from the top are breathtaking. The Big Buddah, thank you for being here and providing spectacular experience for visitors.
Nice touristic area to hang out for about 1-2 hours. You ve got an excellent view on the bay. The Buddha itself is also very impressing. On the way downwards you may encounter some monkeys. You better protect your food ;)
Absolutely magnificent. I love to visit The Big Buddha every time I come to Phuket. It has been two years since I have been here and they have done so much great construction on it. I can’t wait to see how it looks when it is completed. It does not cost anything to visit. They will check your temperature and make sure your shoulders and knees are covered. You will see the most amazing views.
