Big Boy in Benton Harbor

I have never had such Poor service at a Big Boys. Growing up I always loved there food. Today the waitress would not even acknowledge there was supposed to be whipped cream on my apple waffle, despite the fact that it plainly said it would be there on the menu. I asked why it wasnt there and she said it doesnt come with it. My husband his meal was bland. Its just not the Big Boy I remember anymore.

The food was great. There was a bus that showed up at 6:00 and the waitresses were running and we understood that it was slow but we asked the waitress and she told us they were expected at 6:00am and they had exyrs waitresses coming but since they showed up 12 hours early. We had great food and great conversation with on friends on Valentines Day.

We came here for dessert. The better pecan roll/sundae was good except for the lack of ice cream and no whipped topping. And they made and brought my wifes hot fudge sundae a good 3-4 minutes before I received mine. Also Im a little OCD and our table was slanted like someone sat on it.

Servers seemed a touch rude and pushy. I dined in alone and didnt get checked up on. They brought my check with my food and made me feel like I was being pushed out the door. The food was eh and they forgot the dressing to my salad but I couldnt exactly get the waitresses attention. Overall the experience was bleh, there are far better experiences around here.

First and last time I eat here. Was just passing through traveling. The waitress was inexperienced and the food was not that good. The soup tasted old and spoiled and got sick after I eat it. Would of been better off going to McDonalds.

The service was exemplary but the food was not good. I ordered broccoli and cheddar soup and a turkey wrap. The soup wasnt soup as all fluidity was gone and it was not hot. The turkey wrap was okay, but nothing to write home about. We will not be returning.

Got takeout and literally was given 12 fries. Now, they were real good, but that was real BS. Especially with a 20-minute wait.

I hadnt been in a Big Boy since it was Azars. The burger I ordered was hot, cooked properly and just delicious. I didnt give it 5 stars because their cleaning crew needs a wake up call.

This was my first time ever trying big boy. The person I was with has been going to them since they were a kid. They told me how great the Sunday buffet is. I will say the super burger was very tasty. The fries however seemed under cooked. The big problem was the curly black hair found in the food, neither one of us has curly hair. We told the waitress who told the manager and her response seemed very uncarring and like it was a normal occurance. They didnt charge us for it and Im not asking for anything else from them except actually seeming like they genuinely care and were sorry. The restaurant and the bathrooms are not that well cleaned so I dont expect any action will be taken to address whatever led to the hair being in our food. We definitely will not be back to this location but would try another cleaner big boy.

Absolutely horrific. Do not eat here at this location unless you like hugging a toilet afterwards. Service was horrific and the food was equally horrific. The stomach bubbles will begin before youre even finished eating. The one star is a NEGATIVE ONE. Eat here at your own risk☠

We love big boy every time we go to the beach it is a tradition for us to eat there the service was great and the food is awesome. The staff and the manager. Are amazing. Great job. To the team thank you all

Very disappointed this time!! I have been going to this restaurant for many years. In recent years the MGMT kept the place up. Tonight we saw dirty bathrooms, the salad bar was not clean and vegetables were not fresh. Also it took a long time to get chicken fingers but when finally delivered to the table they were burned!! This restaurant needs help!!

Service was unprofessional, hash browns smelled and tasted sour. Filthiest Big Boy i have ever been in. Left with 2 dollar discount and a lingering bad taste in our mouths. Hope to survive without medical assistance.

Never been to a Big Boy, we were on a road trip and decided to go there. The welcome mat smelled like a wet dog, bathroom was filthy, the place was half empty, but my big boy burger took forever, waitress said it was because they were recovering from the lunch rush. Burger tasted like char, no real flavor to it.

I went there with my girlfriend and we got some onion ring I got a supper big boy and she got a patty melt. The onion rings had a weird sauce an the breading tasted off. The Frisco seemed like frozen fries. My supper big boy is like an awful big mac and the patty melt just tasted like chease. The bathroom was disgusting there was toilet paper in the urinal and the sink was supper sticky.

The waitress we had was kind of rude and dismissive, called me a girl every time she addressed me (Im obviously not), plus she spilled my drink all over me and the drawing I had on the table and wasnt apologetic at all. I dont think she even cared, she didnt say sorry until my mom looked at her like she was crazy. The food was pretty bland too, the burger I had didnt have any seasoning. Not a good time.

Solid breakfast! Stopped with a friend who had never heard of Big Boy let alone enjoy the quick hearty food. The community definitely supported the establishment. Half the restaurant was full with the local Elks in attendance. The server was polite and very quick. If your in the area stop for some kitsch, nostalgia and good eats.

1 poor lady to serve over 10+ full tables. She did the best she could. I ordered just the sandwich where the combo was $9.39. Got the bill and the sandwich by itself was $8.39. Really?!?

Made the mistake of trying to grab a Big Boy on Fathers Day. Its been years, since I now live in the South, and I used to love this chain. Upon entering we were seated and sat for about 15 minutes before a server acknowledged us. When she did she was pleasant and apologized. She took our orders and then came back to inform us that any food orders were taking an additional 20-25 min due to kitchen struggles. We agreed to wait. After about 15 min we had to ask for our drinks again, as they never came. After about 60 total min the server came back to inform us that the kitchen hadnt started our food yet, and when my wife pushed her she admitted that she forgot to turn our order in. We told her that we did not want to wait anymore and that we would just leave. At this point, its unfortunate, but I understand things happen. We grabbed fast food and moved on with our day.My real frustration comes when my 12 yo daughter realizes two days later in our hotel that she thinks she left her favorite sweatshirt at Big Boy. We retraced our steps, looked through the timeline of photos in our phones and pinpointed the sweatshirt to most likely be there. Just to be safe, I phoned every other business weve been on vacation. Each business was polite and checked around and apologized and took my number should anything turn up.I drove my daughter to the Big Boy, since they didnt answer the phone. When we arrived we waited several minutes to be acknowledged at the front, although several employees made eye contact. Finally I had to walk over to counter to ask the one that finally acknowledged us. When I politely explained the situation, I felt attacked as three servers jumped in on the conversation all with a very "not our fault" type response. (Clearly I understand it is my daughters fault for losing it). One server pointed at the front door and stated "all lost and found is hung on that coat rack".....pointing to an empty coatrack at the public entrance. There was no care, no hospitality shown, just a very clear attempt to deflect blame. Its just a sweatshirt, Ill live....but Ive got a feeling that this business will not for much longer.If you love Big Boy burgers like I do, give it a shot....but I hope your experience is better than mine.

Very mediocre food. Wait staff was great though. Hadnt been to a Big Boy in many years and had reasonable hopes for the food. The childrens menu quesadilla was very salty and made with pepper jack cheese, which was too spicy for a child. The menu didnt specify that it would be made with pepper jack. The alfredo sauce on the pasta was watery and bland. The fish and chips were decent (fried foodsbut 2 small pcs of fish for over $10. Overall the food was really terrible and I would not go back for a main meal. I would go there if all I wanted was a shake/malt or dessert item.

I have always wanted to try a Big Boy burger and today I did. It was like a extremely bland Big Mac. I thought since this burger joint has been around for a long time, the burger wouldve tasted better. The fries are plain and the cole slaw was bland. The service was good. but the food wasnt

Ordered mozzarella sticks and when they came out there was no marinara sauce. So I ask for sauce. They bring out a sauce that has a big black chunk of something in it!!! The waitress saw it in there even before she brought it to me. I was watching!! So the manager gets us new ones and says sorry. Then our actual meal comes out and my husband had ordered a bacon cheeseburger. No frickin bacon on it!!! Really cooks you need to get it together. Tell waitress so she gets him some bacon and the bacon comes to the table looking like it had been leftover from their breakfast time!!! Ugh

Good food without the long wait.

Food sucked, food obviously came in frozen and the brownie was like the little Debbie ones and took forever and hard to get any service. The waitress wasn’t just doing her job but the cooks as well which is why the service sucked. It also smells like a retirement home or daycare. Definitely will not be back

Great staff. Clean. Straight up classic American diner. As a working traveler I was able to camp out midday for a few hours, use the wifi and enjoy a great burger and coffee. Tip em nice!

My wifes chili was lukewarm. I had breakfast bar: sausages did not taste like sausages & they were lukewarm. Scrambled eggs were dryed out on top. They were lukewarm and didnt taste real. The salad was good and so was the chicken with rice soup. My moms scrambled eggs were good and the potato pancakes were great.

Salad bar was fresh, soup was good. Burger and fries were hot and fresh. Service was good and cheerful. If its been a while since you have gone, give it a go.

Got the grilled meatloaf dinner -- it was good. Others at my table had good food too. Our server was polite and friendly. Decent prices.

Each time its been really great and I wish they would open up in Utah or on the west coast so everyone could enjoy the food like I did and the people where knowledgeable in the foods they serve. Now for the triffle that is a different story. Its so good that I hope they could make it the same way each time but thats ok it taste different each time and its great each time.

It was 30-40 years since I had seen a Bob’s Big Boy restaurant! There used to be one by where I worked in California and I would go there for lunch quite often! So we were delighted to see this one after so many years! And you know what the hamburgers taste just as fantastic as they always did! It’s a taste you can’t forget! Everything was yummy!

I would give it a zero if that was an option. As I write this we are sit waiting for our food and have been here an hour. There are multiple empty tables and several employees walking around. I had to raise my hand to get a refill on our water which we waited for 15 minutes for after we were seated. I stopped the waitress to ask why we are waiting an hour and hadn’t received our soup even. Her response was that there were two tables ahead of us. So we asked if we could get service if we had another waitress because she was so busy with the other two tables. We were told no. Fast forward... after an hour and twenty minutes we finally got our food. Definitely not the big boy I remember. Our buns on our big boys were stale and crusted. Basically we all had about two bites and decided it was not edible. So my birthday dinner we traveled 45 miles with so much excitement because we found a big boy that we had been dreaming about seeing as ours in my home town closed years ago, was a complete let down. I’ll end with telling you that the manager was standing by the entire time not helping or saying anything.

I use to love eating at this location! But lately customer service/houspatily has been horrible! To telling me I cant sit in a certain seat because Im not a everyday customer. To serving me hard rock pancakes and catching attitude when requesting fresh soft ones. Also the all you can eat breakfast stand $12 serve your self buffet. All the food was cold from the eggs, sausage, hashbrown, gravey, biscuits. Once I say something about it the manager gets an attitude... some of the staff members are ok but some is not... Ill just continue to take my cash some where else. Just a heads up its not to nice there

I didnt like my dish and decided to just eat only from the salad buffet which I originally chose as just a side. My waitress went above and beyond and didnt charge me for my dish and didnt charge me the full price of the salad buffet either. Good service for the most part. She made up for slightly ignoring us for longer than she should..

Ugh, dont bother. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait despite the fact no one was in the list before us and four tables in the restaurant were empty but needed to be bussed. While being seated after waiting ten minutes, a waitress in the area looked offended that we were seated. A waitress didnt approach us for five minutes and that was only to tell us shed be back soon. She said the same to the people behind us but added that itd be a thirty minute wait because the kitchen was backed up. We got up and left.

To celebrate my husbands birthday, we took him to Big Boy because he loves their weekend breakfast buffet. The food was as good as usual. They keep it well stocked and its always fresh. My only complaint is that after the remodel, the shield over the buffet is so low, it is extremely difficult to reach out to put food on your plate. At one point, on the second side of the buffet, I gave up after getting about two tablespoons on the spoon, and Im 59" with a long reach. The other issue is probably because the shield is so low, it steams up so its hard to see whats in the back row.

Just left this establishment. Waited 15 minutes for the server who passed our table 4 times to take our drink order. Waited another 10 minutes to get our drink while server screwed around with other staff members. Ordered then when we got our food the server never came back to check on how everything was done or to drop off the bill. We went to the cash register not even know how much our meal was. We will never stop at this location again.

Stopped in on our way home on a Sunday. We ordered the breakfast buffet. They did a terrible job of keeping it stocked. We had to ask for them to bring certain items out and even then the food items were never brought out. For the price it definitely is NOT worth it! We will not be stopping in to another Big Boy anytime soon.

Its a great stopping point when I travel to Michigan. It has a breakfast buffet on Sunday and usually soup and salad buffet everyday of the week. Great food!

All wait staff looked and acted miserable. Long wait for food..we saw that our food was ready for 10 minutes before she served us. Extremely small serving of fries. Sloppy burger with a mass amount of dripping condiments. The sausage breakfast burrito had no sausage what so ever, the scrambled eggs were wet and soggy. 1 star is being generous!

Worst service I ever experienced. I complained to Manger Cindy, that a server serviced the table next to our table 3x, but never took our food order. There were only 4 tables occupied by customers. Staffing was not an issue, there were 5 servers behind the counter, a male host, and Cindy.

We had the salad bar and a burger and they were good. The salad bar was neat and tidy. The best part of our visit was our server. She was attentive and cheerful.

The greatest waitress in the country works at this establishment! Didnt get her name but showed her with generous tip. If you go in she will greet you like a long lost friend. Genuine kind person. God bless.

The servers were very friendly and attentive.. Your chicken fried chicken with the country gravy was incredibly delicious.. Salad bar was fresh and great selection of veggies, toppings, and sauces... Extremely happy we turned around to try your establishment while visiting Michigan...

Ive never been to a Big Boy before so cant compare it to others. Our waitress was very, very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the Big Boy chain (my children kept asking her questions about itand the shakes were really good but unfortunately our food was only sub par. Everything just seemed really dry, not juicy like we had hoped. We all ordered burgers and onion rings and they were all just okay.

Food was decent. Service was slow and wait staff was not very friendly. Lunch buffet was supposed to start at 2PM, but they didnt have soup out until almost 2:30. Just slow and unmotivated. Was in a great mood upon arrival and a feeling grumpy and disappointed when I left.

Horrible experience! 3 of 4 dinners were wrong and the food did not taste good. The pasta was dry and obviously microwaved and the sauce tasted like burnt tomato paste. The waitress was not very attentive, though she was friendly and apologetic for the errors and for us having to wait so long for corrections. Cindy, the general manager asked how everything was when I went to pay the bill. I said to her "pretty bad actually" and she didnt ask for any details, clarification, or even apologise, in fact she didnt say a single word after that. She just smirked, handed me back my credit card and turned her back on me. Hey Cindy, if you or Big Boy doesnt care "how the meal was" why even ask?

I ordered a BLT. My partner ordered a Big Boy Hamburger. My BLT was very good, however my partners Big Boy Hamburger came with NO SAUCE, just a dry hamburger. Additionally, each of us got about 12 french fries. The basket looked empty. The service was good, but the hamburger & fries were disappointing.Then the cashier asked if we left a tip on the table. What the heck.

Did was awful. The pasta tasted like they just mixed in tomato paste instead of tomato sauce. We ordered dessert and cancelled the order after waiting 15 minutes for simple scoops of ice cream. Overall good service and quality was very poor at this location and I could not recommend it to anyone. Youre better off going to McDonalds across the way.

My husband and I come up here for the cabbage soup and salad bar. We always have a great time but last time, we were blessed enough to be served by Debbie, the best waitress weve encountered in a long time. She made our dining experience so pleasant and obviously takes great care in what she does. Thank you!

Never been to one before. Was pretty good. Very simple menu when it comes to hamburger choice.
