Big Bao - Bubble tea store in Bristol, United Kingdom
Placed my order before 2 people and they got their food first. by the time I got my food, it was too late as my break had just finished so I had to rush back. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a bad experience with big bao. They forgot to make part of my order before which should’ve been a warning not to go back. I don’t think I’ll bother ever coming back. I’m annoyed I wasted money
This place was lovely and my order was done very quickly I havent tried the food yet but I will next time both the milk and fruit teas are to die for and it’s a lovely place to buy from!
Ripped off, bahn mi served In a stale panini roll with like 4 slices of meat, and the corn Dog the batter was raw
The bao buns and summer rolls are amazing, good quality and flavours. The best bao buns I have tried! Customer service however isn’t the greatest and if it is busy, you can be waiting for 20+ minutes
I would like to give 0 star to this restaurant if I could. I have experienced a terrible customer service last time, when I found a hair in my milk tea. Absolutely unacceptable to have an experience like that. I had another experience before last time. I was ordering on the machine and I forgot to pick tapioca because that was the first time I used the machine. And when my drink was ready and the staff gave it to me, I asked why there were no tapioca, she answered that she has asked us whether we would like any toppings or not. And I was shocked about how she talked to us. The way she talked to us was terribly rude, also kind of teasing us. These two experiences were absolutely rubbish and they are the reason that I am not going to patronise it.
The milk tea is really bad, we found some hair attached with the tapioca, is awful.Last, and also the staff attitude is really bad as always.
This was lush, very enjoyable
Its gone downhill pretty drastically. Had a mamas fried chicken banh mi and the pickled carrots and radish were sparse, the fried chicken were clearly breaded goujons from any supermarket and the bread wasnt Viet bread, just ciabatta rolls bought along with the goujons. The baos were actually decent.
Great Baos, no complaints except for the wait time
Slow service and summer rolls were 90% lettuce. Bao was fine but nothing special
The bao was Ok, but the filling had extremely little of the advertised protein component (in this case, tofu), and the vegetables and the sauce were so and so. Prices are a little high for this quality, and I feel that Bristol offers better in terms of street food. The automatised system for self-order and self-payment was friendly and efficient.
I saw they did banh mi and thought I would get one. Now Ive eaten it I remember I tried it once before, a few years ago. This is not a good banh mi. In fact it hardly resembles what a banh mi is supposed to be. It should have a nice, fresh, light baguette, it should be stuffed with meat and fresh, zesty vegetables and coriander, it should have a load of fresh chilies and siracha on it. This had stale bread, fatty meat, barely any vegetables, no herbs, no chilies and no hot sauce. Its like ordering a burger and being given a hot dog.
Awful banh mi. Not even close to good. The bun was stale and the salad was non existent. This place may just have the least tasty banh mi in the world !!
Your Korean cheese dogs were so yummy today :)
Best brown sugar bubble tea Ive had
Unfortunately, was disappointed the food I had there. Duck in bun was faty with skin, added sugar totally unnecessary. Cheesy " hot dog" also with sugar(?with something black inside. Only bubble tea was very good!
Really disappointed at the portion of duck in the bao bun. It was filled with lettuce and tomato with two mouthfuls of duck. Do not buy from here.
Very nice Bao buns, good choice of drinks and food. Worth a visit
There is nothing special about this place, the bubble tea tasted more like water I had better one so I know what I am saying... and staff isnt very welcoming.
delicous bao buns, nice soft and fluffy texture. the actual buns themself are a massive size, and for £5 they are very filling and a good portion size.
Delicious food and fast service. Definitely recommended! I ordered the bao with tofu and mushroom. Very tasty.
Lovely people, and amazing value for money food. Unfortunately I only tried this one meal but I do intent on going back to try other things and their bubble milk teas.
My favourite place to get bubble tea and bao buns in Bristol! The price is cheaper than most and always great quality tea, as well as food. Generally efficient and hardworking employees, which I cannot fault. You have my heart forever!
The bao buns are great but I love the Banh Mi, very delicious baguettes
The perfect example of bad customer service! When ordering I was very kind at all times; the only request I had was for my drink to have “2 Ice Cubes Only”.Please see the photos of what they served me with. When I kindly asked “is this 2 Ice Cubes?”Their response was “It’s less ice”.Honestly I don’t want to know what their normal portion of ice cubes is… 21?Want to be ignored and treated as trash? Make sure to pay them a visit.
Banh mi was terrible with thick pieces of raw duck fat and a very old baguette. One of the bubble teas didn’t have any bubbles at all. Initially I thought that they the straw just doesn’t get to them, but when I finished the whole tea and still didn’t get a single bubble - that was a shock.
Absolutely shocking. Ordered Baos got baguettes. Order also took well over double the amount of time quoted and was stone cold. Pathetic, over priced and disgusting.
Sorry guys. Although the food is great and I oder constantly I will only give 1 star today. I ordered a rice dish with 5 extra meat toppings. I got 4 toppings only. And the quantity is the same as no extra topping. Its not the first time this is happening. The first time I thought to myself, we are all human, we make mistakes. This is the second time. Paying £5 extra for 5 topping I expect the size of the dish I paid for. On top of it there is no contact number to solve this.
Wow the Bao buns are fantastic. Its been years since Ive enjoyed a proper bun that was light and fluffy instead of stodgy; the char siu pork was so tender and they didnt skimp on the veg either which is lovely. Nice coffee. Great prices!
Unfortunately regards I love big bao and the whole situation we are at now kinda undarstand and wouldnt complain but still miss fortunate I received basicly mostly. just. Water with extremely small hint. Of. Taro flavour. That is not. Worth 4 pounds
Love Bao Buns, the best i have had is in Singapore and London. So naturally i was excited when i saw this place in Bristol. Especially when the name is big bao, you expect big things. This was not a good experience. The Bao was not light and fluffy, but stodgy. The pork did not melt in the mouth, it was chewy. So disappointing. Wont ever be going back. Woky Ko has the best Pork Bao in Bristol.
Has a very nice bubble tea. Tried brown sugar one. Getting it 2 days in a roll because it’s very authentic. Highly recommend for bubble tea lovers.
Yo their bahn me is awesome. The bao is ok but Im not a fan of how much one costs considering I can buy a bao in London for cheaper in the local Chinese bakery. But, it is Bristol and options are limited in the city centre so give it a try.
Poorly made Baos, Pork Belly and Duck are badly cooked, it’s seems your eating rubber, definitely not crispy and soft. The sauce is not tasty... it just doesn’t worth it.
Service was good and it’s a great place to chill, the boba teas were great
Love the selection of bubble teas. There baos and bahn mi are really good with a great selection of fillings, the pulled beef is my favourite.
Finally got to visit this place when I visited Bristol! Just as I imagined great Banh Mi served by friendly staff! I tried the Belly pork and absolutely delicious! Would definitely come here again if I visit Bristol!
Havent tried the food yet but 5 stars for the bubble tea. As someone who developed a bit of an addiction to bubble tea after a few years living in China Im always looking for places that do it well, this is the best bubble tea in Bristol and better than anything Ive found in London as well. The prices are fair, £3.50 for a large cup and they also have a loyalty scheme.
Personally I much prefer big bao bubble tea to more well-known brands such as cupp. Not only is the flavour of the tea and popping balls nicer and more flavourful, they are much more reasonably priced. I visited the other day expecting to pay similar to the amount I would in cupp (£5-6), when in reality it was only £3! I really recommend you visit here!
Loved their bubble tea, but you should interact more with customers or at least acknowledge them. One of the staff did(the man), but the other 2 ladies were more interested in their friends that were walking around.
Love the milk and bubble tea here at this place. In particular their topeoka and popping fruit balls are really nice with a fruit/milk flavour. Didnt wait long for me and my friends order of bubble tea. Also worth the price for a regular cup £3. :would definitely go here again and recommend this place.
Lovely bubble tea that is reasonably priced and easy to get to as it is in the middle of town near M&S :)
Eaten from here a few times now and everythings been delicious and very affordably priced. The bao are light, very tasty and theres a really nice selection.
Shame we didnt realize its there earlier, such a nice little Vietnamese street food place for my Asian food crave in Bristol city centre. The baos are deliciously yummy and the summer rolls are freshly delightful. Hope it can last and we will definitely come back.
I had the beef bun bao and a bubble tea just before closing. The staff were brilliantly nice and the food was excellent. I miss Vietnamese food since I went there several years ago, and this has an authentic feel and the bun baos are soft like clouds! Looking forward to going again.
Best vietnamese food you can fine in Wiltshire and one of the best in the UK. Btw, I’m a world vietnamese traveler.
The food is light, fresh, well flavoured and a good price. The bao buns are a really nice alternative to a sandwich on my lunch break! Staff are nice too, and the bubble tea is fun.
You can’t go wrong with £4 banh mi and Big Bao serves just that. My pork belly one was warm, hearty and filling! One could opt for hirata buns instead but this was better value. They also serve Vietnamese spring rolls and bubble tea amongst other items. Great for a fast lunch.
The best bahn mi i’ve had outside of Vietnam!Delicious baos, banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffees! I went for the big bao bahn mi and char sui bao which were so tasty and really reasonably priced! Friendly helpful staff and authentic food, cannot wait to go back.
Was visiting Bristol over the bank holiday weekend and decided to get a quick bite to eat while shopping. Very happy with the decision.
