Bideford Railway Heritage Centre in Bideford
Description
One of Bidefords little gems, definitely worth a visit. Its kept looking lovely by volunteers and new members and volunteers are always welcome. I would recommend anyone to stop and have a breather here when passing through on the Tarka Trail.

Visited the Bideford Station on a walk along the Tarka Trail.. Great to see the tracks down in the station and a short working length heading towards Torrington.. Carriage being used as a cafe is in the station as well as a restored signal box.Its a shame that the original tracks towards Instow/Barnstaple & towards Torrington were only taken up not that long ago. This would of been a fabulous tourist attraction as well as getting vehicles off the road.As tracks are being relayed at Torrington, hopefully it can be rejoined. But a great effort whats been done and well worth a visit.
MoreAlthough closed when we visited, a very kind man opened the signal box to let me in to take photos.
MoreClosed today, but cycle from Barnstaple along Tarka trail was great.
Closed at the moment because of COVID-19. Tea in a railway carriage look s good though once it opens again
MoreNothing open in peak holiday season - but it all looked in a poor state of repair.

Brilliant little cafe on the Tarka Trail. The staff handled a busy summer day very well. Blueberries in the salad is different and very refreshing. Beautiful setting for a cafe in the little old railway carriage. Can’t comment on the museum because we didn’t go.
MoreWe went along the Tarka Trail on bikes and came across this amazing place. Had some food and a pot of Tea and the kids enjoyed the Gisto8of this place. Great place to visit in Devon.

MoreGreat place to go and sit in an old style railway carriage and have a nice cup of tea or coffee and a bite to eat - dont forget to visit the signal box and see how it all works - the lady who was on duty when we went was very knowledgeable and we spent a very interesting and enjoyable time there - well worth a visit especially if your a railway buff ☺
