Visitor centre & museum devoted to Bideford railway history, with exhibits & tea in old rail cars.
One of Bidefords little gems, definitely worth a visit. Its kept looking lovely by volunteers and new members and volunteers are always welcome. I would recommend anyone to stop and have a breather here when passing through on the Tarka Trail.
Sorry was all closed except the cafe
When I went there was Gala so we could get on the train and go for a short ride there was also a tombola and some model railways, there were other bits and pieces too.
Lovely place with wonderful peopleVery warm and friendly staff that couldnt do more to helpWonderful day tripThoroughly worth a visit
Very well presented vintage railway equipment.
Due to covid-19 the cafe was closed very disappointing.
Arrived on a Thursday at midday after kind drive and it was closed. All looked in very bad condition and derelict
Just passing on the way from Weare Gifford to Inshot beach but this was a evocative place to pass through. The museum carriages were impressively restored too!
Great hotel and dedicated staff who will provide a professional service! Ideal for Tarka Trail
Museum was closed which was a shame but the Tarka trail is great with stunning views of the estuary.
Lovely peaceful area with flower beds. Interesting carriage with memorabilia. Also a cycling area.
Passed through this station while walking the coast path. The Tarka trail, which starts here, follow the route of the old railway.
Very interesting location but heritage centre closed
Visited the Bideford Station on a walk along the Tarka Trail.. Great to see the tracks down in the station and a short working length heading towards Torrington.. Carriage being used as a cafe is in the station as well as a restored signal box.Its a shame that the original tracks towards Instow/Barnstaple & towards Torrington were only taken up not that long ago. This would of been a fabulous tourist attraction as well as getting vehicles off the road.As tracks are being relayed at Torrington, hopefully it can be rejoined. But a great effort whats been done and well worth a visit.
Although closed when we visited, a very kind man opened the signal box to let me in to take photos.
Closed today, but cycle from Barnstaple along Tarka trail was great.
Closed at the moment because of COVID-19. Tea in a railway carriage look s good though once it opens again
Nothing open in peak holiday season - but it all looked in a poor state of repair.
Lovely place cant wait to see the cafe open again đđ
Great for cycling on the tarka trail pit stop tea cold drinks and you can sit by your bike outside great
Great ride down from Torrington. No hard peddling required. Rural vistas of valley and riverscapes.
Free admission to the heritage and history of the railway. Nice little cafe
Lovely little cafe and great way to save history. Grandchildren enjoyed it.
Great tea on the train cafe with selection of gluten, dairy, and nut free produce! The free heritage centre is exelent as well.
Great museum and signal box. Cafe in lovely old carraige. Great food.
Opportunity for walking. Lots of information. Cafe on the tracks is lovely.
Brilliant little cafe on the Tarka Trail. The staff handled a busy summer day very well. Blueberries in the salad is different and very refreshing. Beautiful setting for a cafe in the little old railway carriage. Canât comment on the museum because we didnât go.
We went along the Tarka Trail on bikes and came across this amazing place. Had some food and a pot of Tea and the kids enjoyed the Gisto8of this place. Great place to visit in Devon.
Fantastic that you get to look around the old signal boxes bideford and instow and the carriages at bideford are open for hot and cold drinks and cakes and snacks
A great place to stop for a coffee and cake and watch the world go by. Great interactive area showing the past history of the local area
Great place to go and sit in an old style railway carriage and have a nice cup of tea or coffee and a bite to eat - dont forget to visit the signal box and see how it all works - the lady who was on duty when we went was very knowledgeable and we spent a very interesting and enjoyable time there - well worth a visit especially if your a railway buff âē
Nice cafe on the tarka trail and an interesting display in the old railway truck.
Lovely walks around here and a nice pub.
Very quirky cafe with limited, but tasty, menu
Good tarka trail pitstop and heritage musuem
For North Devon and with such a history of rail this place could be much much better i found the staff unresponsive and toured thos place in under a hour was a bore
Cafe in old railway carriage on the platform. Good stop off when cycling the Tarka Trail either towards Torrington or the other direction towards Instow and Barnstaple.
What an amazing idea, tea shop on a train, beautiful homemade cakes, just what the dr ordered after the tarka trail bike ride, a lovely half way stop!
Brilliant homemade cakes, real preserved train carriages, a small heritage museum beautifully presented and a super friendly welcome. What more could you ask for!

Good bit of history, signal box, old engine and a nice cafe in a railcar.
Nice little cafe on train and interesting little museum about old railway.
The Heritage Centre has been totally restored over the past 12 months. The Museum is open 10am-4pm daily which includes "Tea On The Train" which serves wonderful refreshments. The Museum is based in the railway parcels van and the Signal Van - both are open and free!

Home made cakes and sandwiches open weekends, school holidays. new owners are revamping while open.
Ive been here a few times as its a great access point on to or off of the Tarka Trail and the actual museum seems to never be open. Its a well preserved former Train Station with a few examples of rolling stock on the tracks.
New cafe opened in the railway museum and signal box to have a look around whilst eating an ice cream!
Lively friendly staff and good cream tea at a super price.
Looks very rundown. A coat of dulux paint on the carriage would be a good start.
