Bideford Bay Holiday Park - in Bideford, United Kingdom
The caravan was beautiful, but had no direct access from the car parking area, except down a steep, muddy and wet slope. Very dangerous for the disabled child in our party for whom we carry lots of equipment. The worst thing about this park was the lack of any effort made by the staff/ entertainers. Regardless of the fact that it was the last week of the season, we still paid substantially for this holiday and were told upon arrival (on Halloweenthat all the Halloween activities had been done the week prior as THAT was half term. Well Bideford Bay, we live in Wales where the week we stayed was half term! In the club that night, every child and some adults were in costume and the entertainer did absolutely nothing. In fact, the highlight of my childrens night was when another guest dressed up as a dinosaur (his Halloween costumeand played with them on the dance floor. The one man who seemed to be responsible for entertainment was actually taking down the Halloween decorations around them!Six nights at Bideford Bay saw absolutely no effort made on the entertainment front and on the last three days even the small soft play area was closed off. We kept asking when the prize booth would be open, as the children had won tokens, and were told so many lies. It never opened all week. This was our main holiday after spending the first six months of this year (and nine of lastin hospital with our son, who is lucky to be with us. Staff at this site need to remember that they are dealing with peoples memories. And Parkdean, if your staff cant be bothered to deliver the same service at the end of the season (Im assuming it is usually better, but cant say for certain), then you shouldnt be opening and taking peoples money.
Was using their car park as I was checking out and received a parking ticket. Tried to appeal and they said they couldn’t get involved as they don’t operate the carpark despite owning it. The parking company couldn’t care less and I had to pay a £60 fine.Camping feels like a festival as there’s lots of large groups playing music and shouting until 3/4am. The staff don’t care and don’t ask anyone to be more quiet.
Brilliant facilities, staff extremely helpful.Childrens play Park is great.Very relaxing space with lots to do locally.
Lovely spot, great facilities, lovely clean accommodation..Not suitable for anyone who cannot get about easily, which is to be expected in North Devon.Only downside was one of the staff doing their rounds in a noisy diesel buggy at 7.45 in the morning, which was quite annoying!
The caravan it self was not so clean, it had dust everywhere and dirty dishes, there was holes in 2 places but the caravan was warm which was good for winter. The site it self was not good, very boring entertainment and activities only on weekends but even the weekday ones are very limited. The place is very outdated and needs some upgrade. But I enjoyed my stay it wasnt my worst holiday but I have been to much better caravan sites with parkdean resorts
Booked on a newspaper offer, always worried what accommodation we will get but was surprised as we were in a recently modernised chalet which was lovely. Didnt use site facilities as booked this venue for location to just do coastal walks. Hilly site but we expected that.We had some friends booked on same offer and their accomodation was poor...dated caravan with awful smell of dog!
Just spent four nights here. The accommodation was basic but clean and tidy. All the basics were there. Plenty of hot water and central heating. Comfy beds with lovely clean white bedding. Very hilly if you are not too good on your feet. But the views and location are great. Well stocked shop with pleasant staff. Did not use the entertainment so cannot comment . Thankyou Parkdean for a lovely few days.
This holiday park has a nice restaurant and grocery store. You can also book the swimming pool by yourself at the reception on the day you arrive. The holiday park also offers night entertainment for the family to enjoy. You can buy the pass for the swimming pool from the reception. It is £12.95 for adult and £8.95 for child in 2022. Please note that from November to February, the swimming pool, restaurant and entertainment shows are closed. The outdoor playground for children is free and remain open during winter.
Was looking forward too our holiday and was here for a 4 day break we was rung a week before we was due too arrive from a guy at head office who upgraded us too premium caravan .caravan was very nice and comfortable thank you but we ask when speaking on the day if was possible too paid extra and stay a extra night which we was told too go into reception and sort a extra night out which we did only too be told by the manager that it would be OK but she would ring us too confilm this but on the 3 day we had heard nothing so we went to the reception too see what was happening only too be pushed too someone esle only too be told this wasnt possible after we was told it was. paid extra for entertainment passes and walked 10 mins in the wind and rain too find our entertainment was bingo what a total waste of paying extra for entertainment passes not many attractions nearby unfortunately we wont be back very disappointing
I came her via the sun holidays so I didnt actually expect too much for such a good price however the accommodation was beautiful, very well looked after with all facilities needed. The site had everything we needed such as pool, park, golf, bar/restaurant, bingo and a shop. We did however pay extra for 5 entertainment passes which we never had to use because we got access to everything anyway which was a shame. There isnt alot to do locally without driving but that isnt the parks fault and it was quite nice to be in the middle of nowhere to relax! I would deffinatly come back!
Lovely holiday park, very hilly though. Plenty for young children to do. Lovely food and good prices. Very clean.
Dirty caravan on arrivalWindows dirtyDead flies, soiled toilet paper on toilet floor and dirty toiletAsked at reception for housekeeping to come back. When we returned they had attempt to clean the window but nothing else and left dirty cleaning cloths on the furniture. The caravan smelled bag of dogs.Out dated club and the decking was closed off so no outdoor seating or sea view.Staff unhelpful
Its OK depending on what you want, its quiet and surrounded by trees and its also dog friendly, its also got a beautiful view of Bideford bay so if this is wht you want then for you I would give it 4 stars, however it is on the side of a steep hill with a steep walk to the sea so for us with kids it wasnt ideal but it maybe for you.
Had a few issues when we got there with our caravan but overall the experience was good. As it was the end of the main holiday season the entertainment was winding down too but had something on each night. But the bing has gotten rather expensive. Could stomach £12 last time but not £18.
Lovely accommodation, very modern and the staff are very friendly the downside is there is really not much going on like the other parkdean resorts, very quiet, onsite shop not open today (Saturday)extremely hilly so if you have mobility problems then it would be difficult to get your accommodation,if you are looking for a very quiet break this is the place for you.
Caravans are terraced, rows of 5, lighting very poor, none to light the way to the van we stayed in at night, not a site suitable for anyone with mobility issues or wheel chairs. Caravan was basic, moderately clean, no information in caravan with regard to using gas fire etc. Not as good site as other Parkdean sites weve been on
We found the site a little shabby, and inundated with horrible flies, unusual in September. The caravan was fairly clean, but not as clean as others that we have stayed in. There was virtually no storage space, just one wardrobe in each bedroom, with a shelf between the beds in the twin rooms, only a narrow shelf under the mirror in the tiny bathroom, (we were afraid the shower wouldnt be big enough to use), and just one towel ring. The site is definitely not designed for anyone with mobility problems, as it is hilly and steep in some places. Unpacking and packing the car involved several trips to and from car and caravan, as we couldnt park nearby, Im afraid that we wont be returning and will not be recommending this site.
We stayed in a private rental caravan on site. A nice quiet park. The reception and club house were right at the bottom of quite a steep hill so we got quite a bit of exercise during our stay 😂 Molly was one of the bar/restaurant staff who was great and made us feel very welcome 🤗
Not a bad place to take the family away, plenty to do on site. Park, swimming pools, mini arcade, the let downs are the restaurant as when we looked at the food available most of it was out of stock, parking is a pain as they have only enough space for 1 car per 2 caravans or at least thats how it feels and then you get told off for parking on the grass.
We come home tomorrow (29/08we arrived on Friday evening for a bank holiday family getaway before the kids go back to school. We got into our standard caravan which was surprisingly lovely for a standard! Bigger than I’ve been in elsewhere, however the fridge hadn’t been cleaned at all which wasn’t great as we had stuff to put in there ourselves. There was a dirty plate and left over items. It also was very grubby. That was the only thing I noticed that was dirty. The area itself is stunning. Lovely view of the far sea from our caravan. Really lovely area.We went into the complex itself and was a bit let down, there’s barely any arcade machines for the children, and the ticket machine is always closed so my children couldn’t even draw they’re tickets in at the end. There is a lot to do for the kids outside, big play areas ect.Staff are very friendly.Bar is okay, very over priced but you need to expect that from holiday parks. There isn’t much choice either.Food however I’m actually shocked at…. Waiters look like they don’t want to be there, we had to take our food off the servers place ourselves , barely any words from the waiters. Barely any choice of food, a lot wasn’t available. Also extremely expensive but again this is expected.I’m extremely shocked at one of the starters. Me and my partner had calamari to share which was £7.99. I’ve attached the picture of it below. I wouldn’t even give it to a dog. It was basically raw with a slight batter on . Body and ink sac still there with tenticles . It was rather vile. Not how it’s supposed to be at all. I have also complained about this particular thing. My partners food was very dry, very poorly cooked for the price it was. Mine was fine and my childrens was fine.Just very hit and miss.Overall we had a nice few days but I don’t think I would want to return for what we payed personally.Glad we tried it and my kids enjoyed themselves so that’s the main thing
We had a chalet, which on the surface didn’t look too bad. However it’s the general cleanliness and maintenance that lets the whole place down. Both toilet seats tried to break our necks and the slid around. Smell from the shower drains was pretty bad. The outdoor pool, appreciate daily build up, but the amount of bugs in their would suggest it hadn’t been cleaned for a week or two. Along with the build up of scum, which a jet wash would have cleaned off. 8 person chalet, with 2 small wardrobes. Not for us, and won’t be staying at a Parkdean again
Beautiful lodge - shame about the lies down from head office. My mum has limited mobility and we rang before we left to confirm if there were stairs to the lodge. We were told there wasn’t any stairs to get into the lodge, just stairs from the veranda but we could have a ramp if we wanted. On arrival (6hrs journeywe arrived to a beautifully finish lodge however there were 4 stairs to get in. When I spoke to reception the lady said she was here when head office rang and clearly stated there WAS stairs and a ramp wasnt possible due to insurance. There was nowhere to offer us a move so we were told we could choose to leave if we so wanted. But the manager would ring us to offer a goodwill gesture if we did choose to stay.My mum very rarely came out of the lodge due to the struggle getting in and out.No phone call on Tuesday as promise from Lauren the manager.Rang Wednesday to be told she isn’t on site today but they would get her to ring Thursday.Rang Thursday to be told she’s out of the office but will ring us. No phone call. Went to the restaurant that night to be told Lauren doesn’t even work here anymore.Tried to order food via the app and was told there was a problem, arcades for the kids was poor. The queues for the swimming pools were just ridiculous! And very very hilly!Could have been a lovely holiday if not let down massively by the management team. Even after emailing with our complaint we are yet to get a response!
We were in a lodge for 8 people, there was 7 of us. The accommodation was very good. We all liked it.If I could change the lodge, I would have a washing machine rather than a dishwasher. But this is a small detail. The little shop is useful but a bit pricey. The bar restaurant was ok but felt like most things were an oven meal.Probably the worst thing, surprisingly, was the swimming pool. Queues to get in, limited amounts of people allowed in.Not enough sunloungers. But the worst thing about the pool is the amount of dead flies in it ! They should be skimming a swimming pool before a day starts, this is clearly not happening. There are also Fun Spoilers, known as Lifeguards to stop people playing .Lifeguards are not required, the pool is 1 metre deep, everyone except babies can touch the bottom. These lifeguards would be better employed to clean the pool. The site is well maintained generally and parking is well thought out.A beneficial change would be some provision to sit outside your lodge eg picnic tables or garden table/chairsBecause this site is kind of in the middle of nowhere, you have to drive toeverything. All in all, accommodation is good, entertainment facilities are bang average.Would I stay here again?Maybe.
The caravan alotted had no view or decent outside space even though advertisement showed it did. The unit was sparsely furnished again advertsement showed a homely feel; which made it feel cold even with the warm weather. The resort was OK. Employees friendly.
Just had a beautiful week here beautiful weather beautiful caravan and stunning park with such lovely people and staff. Entertainment was good and both pools were fantastic was like being abroad. The park is very hilly which we didn’t mind but not so good for those with mobility issues. The only reason for not giving an extra star is the bar unfortunately. 2 nights they had run out of white wine. Hot chocolate machine wasn’t working properly one morning, no syrup for the cocktail and one evening was very busy and only one person behind the bar. As a loyal Parkdean customer I’m sure you will do your best to ensure this won’t happen again.Other than that Thankyou Parkdean for another amazing holiday and hope to visit Bideford again in the future ❤️
Came here as a last minute panic holiday but pleasantly surprised. Handy for beaches and with a nice view. Kids love the playground, football pitch and excellent pool. I like the pool too 😉
Caravan clean and tidy unfortunately the fridge freezer didnt work, was replaced with a smaller one that was also faulty the door keep falling to one side so had to wedge with a book to keep it closed. The club house was a waste of time no cider no vodka could not guarantee the bitter was chilled,no management was available to explain what the problem was, very disappointed
The Walland chalet was lovely, they have been refurbished to a good standard. The setting is excellent and is close to the Milky Way Adventure Park and The Big Sheep family farm. Its also fifteen minutes by car to Westward Ho! and thirty five minutes to Bude, both lovely beaches. The view of the sea is stunning over the bay. The staff are fantastic and it would have been five stars, however, there were a few issues with getting coffee and certain food items.
Caravan was not as good as I expected but was ok for a week. Kids park brilliant, pool was good. Food way to expensive for family of six. Arcade was good, entertainment was a bit hit and miss some nights. Bingo was brilliant.. I would go again but would pay a bit more for a better caravan.
Not bad. Shame can’t park next to accommodation so get wet in the rain. Pools are great with brilliant kids play area (although have to pay £13 each for two days use!)
The caravan we stayed in was spotless, and the outside childrens park and pool were great, that ends the good points of this park. The Clubhouse was terrible, they ran out of most things several times a day, from the basics like peas and mushrooms to the essentials like wine glasses, theres nothing quite like a tumbler of wine! The entertainment for children in the evening was awful, despite the poor woman doing her best to make it enjoyable. The whole park comes across like its on its last legs, there seems to have been no investment in the site for decades, and the majority of the staff come across embarrassed of the place when you ask for the most basic of things you would expect at a site like this. It feels understaffed and extremely underloved, it needs some tlc and investment rapidly if the owners want this site to remain open in my view. If you are coming to this site just as a place to stay to explore the surrounding beautiful beaches you may be fine, but if you come here with children and want the facilities to be good for them, look elsewhere. Im being generous with he two star review because it was a Sun holiday and so didnt cost much, if I was to have paid full price I would be demanding my money back.
Fabulous park. But very hilly, lots to do for all ages if you like swimming pools, as they have indoor and outdoor pools. With shutes. Club reaustrant nice and clean good choices. The shop is Nisa. Fabulous lodge and amazing view. Lodge needs some updating. And Staff so nice and helpful.
There aint no holiday like a Parkdean holiday...Unfortunately we had such a bad experience here that we will never go to a Parkdean resort ever again. Where to begin...- We upgraded to a better caravan, but found the layout extremely cramped and hadnt been cleaned properly on arrival.- there was constant noise from the neighbours. Whenever their kids ran across the caravan the noise travelled to ours and made the whole place shake 🙄 makes it really difficult to relax.- we had bed bugs which we found after a few nights. So many that they had to move us to another caravan.- terrible Internet here. Good luck getting any phone reception or Internet at all. This would be ok but even the WiFi at the clubhouse was shocking.- clubhouse seems extremely disorganised. At one point the bar was unattended for over half an hour, so was impossible to order food/drink.I could go on... we tried to spend every minute possible off site due to how much we disliked it here.Stay clear.
Got off to a really bad start. The caravan we where given was disgusting! To be honest.Cracked bathroom sink, stained toilet, no lock on bathroom door, stains on the kitchen ceiling, bedding smelt damp, sitting room was like sitting in a doctors waiting room.We where stuck in the back of beyond with a dirty brick wall for a view and overhanging trees making in dark and miserable. The staff in reception where really good I have to say and we where moved out after only one night to a different caravan without much fuss
Absolutely awful place! Lots will moan just to get something off but this place especially if camping is really not worth the money, dangerous toilets witg ripped lino floors, tripped twice on it, really REALLY expensive £24 for 3 drinks! They sell BBQs but youre not allowed BBQs, staff are rude, entertainment is dire with the main host screeching when she sings on a system that is the cheapest sound system they could find. Make no mistake they advertise it by Barnstaple... its no where near! Literally in the middle of no where. Scenery is beautiful though but shame its owned by this awful company!! Avoid it and book somewhere else.
The three stars were for the accomodation. It would of had 5 star rating but Im removing two stars for the run down depressing miserable site.Who knew that the kitchen staff break after breakfast meals and restart 5pm. So dont expect a holiday lunch on your break. Very low on stock and when they were open they had hardly anything.Amusements. Hahaha very 80s. Goto Wayward Ho for some proper amusements. The toys at this site had not moved an inch from Friday to Monday. Poor kids who paid didnt stand a chance as the grippers didnt even attempt to grip.Pools. Outside was freezing. Inside was lovely and warm but very tiny. More for babies.Miserable staff. Didnt even make the shows as the area was so tiny and the staff so miserable beforehand we had to leave for our own sanity and go back to the chaletThe wooden park was the nicest entertainment. Crazy golf.. dont bother.Very very hilly, nothing around unless a hike or a car driveNot suitable for people with limited mobility or people that want to park up and relax on site for the holiday.Westward Ho and Appledore are beautiful areas to visit. Westward Ho more for children and beach goers
Lovely park, clean dog friendly caravan with central heating, lovely and cosy and thats with the bronze offer. Lovely site even in the rain. Plenty for kids to do. Great facilities. Staff brilliant and bubbly. Great weekend away 👍👍
Not a good experience I’ve had with them. The caravan we were given was completely different to the one on the picture. The restaurant is always out of food. Not much of entertainments. Staff were okay but they couldn’t really do much either . (Can’t really blame themThe only good thing about this was the caravan was clean and white goods were in good quality as well.
Overall this holiday park isn’t too bad, the views are really nice, there is a path down from the caravan place to the beach, the caravans and chalets look nice from the outside. My family and i were in a chalet, it satisfied our needs and was nice looking. There is a park for children to play in and an arcade which can pass by time. Overall the park isn’t too bad however the restaurant is the bigger problem. We went for a dinner and when it came to ordering, we were informed that they don’t have a lot of the ingredients to fulfil the meals we wanted, the staff working were kind however seemed a bit unorganised and the waiting time we had to wait for food, which didn’t fully satisfy us, was a joke. To receive normal straight fries with no sides we had to remind the workers that we still haven’t received anything after 40+ minutes. The restaurant would probably be the downfall of this place and possibly the lack of entertainment for families but if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway holiday where you don’t need entertainment then this could be a place for you.
First time visiting this park.Very nice well kept and clean. However could do with more shops there is Nisa on site but does seem to close when it suits. You do need to drive if you come to this camp as you are in the middle of no where.Staff are a bit slack.Entertainment staff- jordii absolutely fab!!Food not brilliant- not much choice. And you only have the one restaurant on site.
Nice chalet newly refurbished is clean and cozy and overlooking the sea that’s only a big points other than that the place is boring and very quite . Not much people . No entertainment for family and to my kids . Lack of activities and entertainment. No shops , restaurant only 1. Small baking place . They prioritise only 5yo below kids and my 8yo son not enjoying even the colouring . Lifeguard is not polite talking to my husband older than him when he told is not allowed to go down the pool must use the stairs . There was no entertainment below 13 yo . No activities outdoor and no free breakfast at last day unlike the other parkdean site. I booked for a breakfast but doesn’t say any age restriction but when we went there they said only for 5yo but how about my not excited to go there to join. So disappointing. Small place and far from the beaches and attraction. Very small place is design for sleeping only not for a family so I suggest book a bigger themed park with load of activities inside
Great caravan park. Our caravan was modern, clean, and really spacious. The setting was lovely in the woods, quiet and nature all around us. Loved it. Great old fashioned club house with arcade and amusements. Friendly staff. Park and deck at rear if restaurant lovely in the sun. Would definitely stay again. Only downside was food. Clubhouse menu limited and no other food options. But I would definitely go again as park so lovely and area Great for touring. Well dine Parkdean, very laid back and low key for families. 👍
Well, where do I begin.... It was absolutely awful. We were booked for 3 nights, arrived late on the Friday and left Saturday morning. We couldnt bare to be in the accomodation another minute. Here is just some of the things we experienced:1No bedding provided, bedding was on the floor outside on arrival (see photos)2Damp mould on ceiling in every room (see photos)3Strong smell of urine throughout.4No soap provided and none stocked in shop.5No shelf in oven to cook - filthy covered in fat.6Mattresses stained with god knows what.7Windows all left open prior to arrival so full of flies.8Park roads are poorly maintained and damage risk to cars is high.List is non-exhaustive and could go on much further.Avoid at all costs. If I could give minus 10 stars I would.
Hi Weve just returned from our second Park Dean holiday and was looking forward to this static caravan would be in better condition than our last one from a couple of years ago. Well no, this caravan at Bideford Devon was in a bad state of affairs. I made sure we took cleaning products and they came into good use.. Obviously I cleaned light switches, handles and all services. But didnt expect to have to buy throws for the seating area and spray the seating as they had very bad odours and some staining. There was staining on the walls and mould too. When we tried to go to bed the space between the bed and walls were very tight and it meant each time you try to get into and out of the bed we had to squeeze against the dirty walls and we hit out legs on the metal bed legs. when we did get into bed the sheets felt cold but they turned out to be damp. the window didnt close properly. We were indoor shoes as not to walk on the carpet. The grill didnt work and the heat from the oven came out the sides of the door. My daughter and partner joined us on the Monday and they often found drips of water dripping from the ceiling. Overall the smell of damp from all the van even the storage cupboards in the kitchen area smelt really bad, we found salt in bowls in the cupboards indicating damp. I suffer with Asthma and not feeling too good since arriving home. The parking was a way from the caravan so many trips to unload and load the car. The pathways down to the club house were very steep and the steps at the bottom were not lit so we stumbled down the steps a couple of times. Glasses often had lipstick on them at the club house My daughter was asked for ID a number of times even though shes nearly 25 and looks older than a lot of the bar staff. We can honestly say that we didnt think we would get a bad van again, even though we own a dog we dont expect a van to be in bad order. We paid a lot more than last time so expected a lot more from this one.
Mixed reviews about our experience. The place is clean and well managed. We had a caravan within the Glades - houses 6 people. There were no toilet papers or even bath/shower mats in the shower areas. No basic handwash or complimentary soap. None were provided. We had to buy bath mats, handwash, soaps, etc. Providing this basic info could have been helpful, so we could have arranged in advance rather than a 40-min to n fro drive to get the items.Secondly though it is advertised that WiFi is freely available in the premises - its wrongly advertised. WiFi is only available in the main venue area and cant be accessed in the lodges, caravans or other staying areas.Response to fixes too isnt great. We had requested a TV fix as none of the Free to air channels were available. It took them 4 days and a reminder to finally fix it.Indoor and Outdoor swimming pools are good but can be overcrowded quickly with hardly any manoeuvre space.Hence the mixed reviews due to the hiccups - else the cleanliness of the caravan or the seating/beds or showers cant be faulted.
Would not recommend. The Chalet looked like a block of toilets upon arrival from the outside. It wasnt clean inside. The cutlery drawer had dirt in, the twin bedroom had damp on the ceiling, the electric shower wasnt fully connected to the wall, the leather chair had 2 rips in, the tap constantly dripped, there was no end stop on the curtain rail of the main bedroom, the walls had stains on, the sofa was stained and smelt. The swimming pool has dirt debris all over the bottom, the changing rooms were filthy, and they keep the main doors open which means as soon as you walk into the changing rooms from the pool youre absolutely freezing. We also booked activities for our 2 year old - the first was Bike Tots which was cancelled due to bad weather although the weather was fine, and we were not told in advance, we were told as we turnt up for it, despite us checking 30 minutes before with reception where we were supposed to meet.Dont even get me started on the food. I ordered burger and chips on our last evening, my chips came covered in BBQ sauce (my food had noneand looked as though it had been scraped of someone elses plate. Food over priced and extremely underwhelming. You cannot park right by your chalet, we had to walk up an extremely steep hill with all of our bags and a 2 year old. The park is not lit up at night time so I almost fell several times.
Very nice place for entertainments, kids arcade games. The only let down was the caravan we stayed in, but apart from that nice resort.
Absolutely stunning park but incredibly hilly! The coastal path to bucks mills is a feat in itself and very slippery when wet. Would have been nice if some of the trees towards the sea view were trimmed down a bit as they are a view blocker! Our caravan was very basic and small, it is meant to sleep 8, sadly three of our group had to cancel last minute which was probably for the best as 8 people in here it would have been extremely claustrophobic. The main bedroom you literally had to squeeze to get round it. The cooking area was small and the utensils were seriously insufficient for larger groups! The grill pan is not the correct size for the cooker (see picsthis needs to be amended with the lack of decent size pans plus the grill made it a challenge when cooking! The curtains were missing hooks overall the caravan was tired looking. The window in the lounge is missing a corner making it unstable, and the lack of lighting outside can make walking back at night time a challenge and potentially a trip hazard, at the caravan we stayed in.The swimming pools were good, but the club house well really really let the whole park down.I accept that we are in a pandemic but the table service was awful many other guests also agreed, waited 30minutes for one round of drinks due to the app not working and when the order came it was wrong! Food was extremely over priced for what it was and when we arrived on Friday most of the menu was missing and we were told that they were having a delivery Tuesday so again we tried to order a meal as it was my son’s birthday and again most of the menu was missing, and oddly what is available it all has some variant of chipolte be it sauce/salt/flavour which is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea!The entertainment was also a let down unless you are a bingo fan and when the night entertainment does start it doesn’t start until 10pm as bingo seems to go on forever and ever! The shop is handy but I’ve never seen such a high mark up on goods! The gifts were reasonably priced but everything else is seriously expensive. The card reader went wrong and stayed wrong for the whole week and the cash machine broke aswellWe spent a lot of time off camp, and I have to say as a location it’s really not in a bad place bude isn’t far away and westward ho is close by but I absolutely recommend the small village of Instow as the beach is dog friendly not just part of the beach but the whole beach. If you do fancy the coastal walk from the park to bucks mills the waterfall is awesome but the beach is very rocky as in big rocks so not great if you have mobility problems.Overall we did enjoy our time here and haven’t given up on parkdean and have already booked our next holiday for next year, but at a different location and paying more for bigger caravan! This camp is in a beautiful location and extremely well kept and tidy and I hope the owners look at my review as not slating them but as constructive criticism and problems that really need to be attended to.
The main reception staff were BRILLIANT, where we stayed and location were also BRILLIANT. Unfortunately the main resturant let it down.. The service was dreadfull for entire stay.....For those who wish to turn mobile phones OFF will NOT get served due to APP service, even though its also table service. Twice in a row we got asked to take a seat and were then ignored for over 25mins, then on 3rd when did get served and orders taken. Had to wait 40mins just to recieve part of our order containing a fly.....Not good when tou have 2 young children.and a further 15min for rest to arrive. Then no offer to replace when mentioned...Although Reception eventualy refund us...
Just got home from a weeks holiday at this park. We, a family of 5 chose to stay in a lodge. When I 1st saw it I thought it looked like a toilet block. I WAS WRONG. Once inside I was amazed at how clean it was and hugely spacious. There was a decent size twin room at either end and a double room each end.A bathroom with a toilet and a shower room with a toilet. A decent size kitchen with a full sized fridge and freezer, microwave, reasonable cooker kettle toaster etc.. A good sized lounge and dining area with nice clean comfortable furniture. Our only minor gripes (only minorwould have been nice to have an outside light,a better chopping board in the kitchen as the one supplied was made from glass, there was no cheese grater and no bedside cabinets in the double rooms so know where to put my early morning mug of tea.(just had to add some tiny details)
