Biblio Taco - Mexican restaurant in Courtenay, Canada
Used to be my favourite taco place in the comox valley. I’m not sure what’s changed, but the food quality isn’t the same and the prices have gone up. My taco was dry with absolutely no sauce on it, and I paid 7$ for stale, hard, tortilla chips and 14$ for 2 bad tasting mini tacos. It’s just not worth the money for me anymore but it used to be when the food was actually high quality and delicious.
Happy to update my review - the service is now just as consistently good as the food has been! Big changes since Max started there. No longer nervous to go in, but rather its a weekly event!
Great food. V generous portions. Friendly staff
Just ate a ahi tuna taco salad at Biblio. Sat in the cozy garden in the back. Great, great salad. Fresh, colourful and full of flavour. If in Cumberland, a must stop!
Its on the pricey side for the size of the portions. That being said it delivers on amazing flavor combinations and very authentic Mexican cuisine.
Great mexican food at a fair price. Easy to understand menu!
We thought the service was superb, we realized this the moment we saw a young waiter respectfully waiting for another table to pray. Shoutout to that kid.
Amazing eats, fun atmosphere, and open late. Three for three. Worth a trip to Cumby to eat there again.
Wow. Frankly, best taco of my life. I had the bibliotaco carnitas and was absolutely floored. Whatever was in it was fantastic but also loved that they fry cheese on the outside of the tortilla adding a bit of crunch and more flavor. Beard guy serving was super cool. Strawberry margarita was delightful.
Seriously the best tacos on the island! Hard to find a roasted veggie combo and you can do half and half. Loved their burritos too! Their in house hot sauces are addictive, mango habenero is spicy yet they perfected the delicate mouth burn.. the chiplote and green one tastes delcious too. Great seats throughout. Loved the backyard patio the best! Super clean, great staff and fabulous selection of drinks. Good for the whole family!
Biblio Taco offers delicious Mexican food with a fun vibe!My personal fave is the roasted vegetable burrito with all the homemade hot sauces. Their margaritas are fantastic and if youre a beer drinker, they offer a big selection of beer on tap and by the bottle. If Mexican is your jam, Biblio is the place for you!
Just finished a long backpacking trip in Strathcona, this was just the thing to hit the spot! Got the chicken tinga enchiladas, crisp shell and tasty chicken! Amazing service and you have to try all the sauces!
Delicious food but the customer service was the best. Appreciated their support in getting to the ferry in time and the understanding and smiles.
Best food ever - Im a big fan, and highly recommend both lunch and dinner!! The staff are friendly, the atmosphere welcoming, with great style and an amazing location, right in the heart of this gem of a community!!
Sat outside. We had great service. Delicious Mexican food. Fresh and with just that extra touch to make it better than most. I cant remember the name of the drink but it was beer and clamato juice with a salted tajine rim (mexican lime seasoning saltand spiced like a caesar. So good 👍 I make them at home all the time now.
Amazing tacos, friendly staff! My favourite taco is the Al Pastor Pork!
We ordered burrito and Burrito bowl, we ordered both Vegan, results were extremely disappointing. The bowl was $17 and was a tiny portion, lacking any flavour besides some spicy chipotle that again besides the spicyness , no salt , lime or anything that will ever give us the desire to come back to an over priced tasteless “ so called “ Mexican good.
Tacos were small but tasty
Best burritos Ive had, the restaurant is full of character in downtown Cumberland. Definitely a must try!
Real good food that our whole family enjoyed. Not your average taco place, its the way tacos should be!
Great taco place on the island! Better than Tacofino in my opinion. We happily drive from Nanaimo to Cumberland just for tacos and a nice local beer! My only “complaint” is that I would prefer the tacos come with two corn tortillas as the tacos come nice and heavy and tend to tear through the tortilla of they sit too long in the juices.
Biblio is the best, the quality and portions are amazing. I get burritos to go for lunch and take out at least once a week for the family. Biblio is a staple in our house hold.Must try if you’ve never beenSimply the best
The food is tasty, and I didnt find it overly spicy if thats not your jam your in luck, but if you want it spicier hot sauce will fix that. They have two vegetarian options as well a few different meat options. They offer Mexican made cola, beer, wine and cocktails. They offer eat in and take out as well you can order online via their website. Give it a try!
Fantastic tacos, burrito bowls, margaritas, and more. Fresh ingredients and loads of flavour-flav. Quick service. Already craving more!
We love Biblio Taco. Whenever we are staying in Cumberland we always try to make it to Biblio Taco. It’s amazing every time!
The Absolute best Taco Soup we have ever had. Sandy totally agrees. David Grace called it, and was bang on. Best Mex around.!!!👍
Who doesnt love a good burrito? No seriously who? I want to know so I can go Spanish Inquisition on you, Monty Python style.
You get about 6 miles per taco if you go before a ride. Go burrito for after ride refueling. Does not disappoint.
First time attending and I thought it was a great little place on first impression. The menu was adequate and covered all the dishes you would expect. Good variety. The service was friendly and a staff member did a very thorough job cleaning surfaces while we sat waiting. The meal came and was certainly enough. Both dishes could have been sufficient for two. The taste was great and price of $14 per dish was processed well. We enjoyed the visit and will be back again.
Stopped here after a day of skiing and it was the right choice. Had the Biblio House Taco and it was huge. Great fresh flavors...only made even more delicious when sampling their signature hot sauces. Lime chili, smokey chipolte, and the orange one is a pineapple habanero that is a total creeper fire sauce...go easy on that one. Excellent root beer, too. Great stop and highly recommend.
Solid tacos that could seriously benefit from a second shell underneath. Tacos are messy but these ones soak too much in the juices and totally fall apart in your hands which means you can’t truly appreciate the mix of flavours and textures. Simple fix that I hope they consider.
3 order they have messed our order up different items than ordered no sour or guac when paid for and less than friendly service. Unfortunately the owner is great when he is there but things sure slide when he isnt.
Prices are pretty high, even for what you get. Good food at least. Closed some weird days for the holidays. Like today. The 3rd? Really? How long do you need to sleep off the hangover? I wouldnt even have thought to look at Google before leaving because you just expect people to have normal operating hours. Maybe Ill just have to find a new place for lunches. 🤷♂️
Delicious Mexican cuisine. It had plenty of taste and all the sauces were hot!!!
I really had high hopes after all the good reviews, and the place is packed too. Tasty tiny tacos and the bottom of the bag for chips and guacamole. If you cant make your own tortilla chips, dont serve a bowl full of bits and shrapnel. Had maybe 5 whole chips, the rest was crumbs and shards. The guacamole tasted like fresh mashed avocado. Maybe they forgot the lime, cilantro, salt, pepper, anything? Tacos had a tablespoon or so of filling, but at least they tasted good. After 2 tacos, a beer, and chips and guacamole, I just ordered a pizza from Ryder because Im still hungry.
Ive gone to Bibliotaco a few times now and have not been disappointed with my experiences. I will admit I prefer the tacos over the burritos, but that might just be me. All in all I most heartily recommend the food here.
Exceptional tacos. Great flavours in all I tried. Front and back patios. And the place was hopping with take out. I can see why. Great experience.
Ordered online for takeout , took about 15 min, staff was very friendly and accommodating. There were people dining on their patio as well as inside.Food was exceptional and price point was fair was well.
We love Bibliotaco in Cumberland! We live in Comox but it’s worth the drive for fresh, homemade, Mexican food stock-full of delicious veggies with multiple meat and vegan options. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not going to give one star because I still like the place, but oh my goodness... if you are going to tell me on the phone that it will be 15 minutes, then when I show up half an hour later dont make me wait another 10 minutes. I dont think they had even started making my food yet when I showed up. Just tell me it will be 45 minutes and I will show up then. The employee told me it was because there were "a lot of orders coming in at that time" but if that is the case then just say on the phone that it will be a longer wait. Please?
Popped in for tacos after a late afternoon ride on a Tuesday. LOTS of seats at 7, and none by 8. The el pastor taco was my favorite. My spouse is not a fan of pineapple, but he refused to trade his with me for something else. That says a lot!!! I will order those again : Their lime margarita was also very good, and their selection of beers on tap was great too. Something for everyone. The perfect finish to the day.
Excellent food, Excellent Staff experience. Cant believe we had the patio to ourselves. Had Tuna, Roasted Veg and Chicky Taco. All were excellent. Guac was fresh and chips were crunchy. Watched the local kids popping Ollies onto the sidewalk after school got out. Great taco and more place in Cumberland. We will be back.
great experience here, had the breakfast taco which was delicious and had a perfect medium Friday on it. The Host and server were very kind. They even brought a choice of hot sauces to try. Highly recommend. Fair price
Biblio taco is 🔥. I was starving, ordered a shredded beef burrito with guacamole and sour cream and it was amazing.Girlfriend ordered chicken burrito and loved it .It was a meal for real.. food quality was great, fresh. We both failed at completing our burritos, will definitely return probably sooner than later.
We wanted a burrito after a day of snowboarding at mount Washington and this place did not disappoint. I got the chicken burrito and my boyfriend got the chorizo.... both were absolutely unreal. Loved that there were three different (and incrediblehome made hot sauces in squeeze bottles that you could bring to the table. We used some with every bite because we just couldn’t get enough. Such a cute little shop and we will definitely be back!
Biblio Taco never ceases to amaze the taste buds and overall impression on the different takes, style of flavor that they offer up tacos or burritos. The plate up on colorful, beautiful presentations of fresh ingredients and ease of enjoying each dish was well constructed without mess. Which I think for Mexican food that is a great in itself. The service is friendly and yet has a nice chill vibe.
Wow much delicious. First time going and I will definitely be going back. Kids enjoyed it very much as well. I think we found a winner here. Go check this place out everyone. Tacos yes please.
Well worth the drive up from Nanaimo. Tacos were beyond delicious, and the sauces you can drizzle on top? Try them. All of them. Seating is limited so if the weather is less than optimal you may have to either get your food to go or wait for a seat. Staff was very friendly and service time was quite reasonable. There is a small step down into the restaurant so isnt wheelchair accessible if that is a concern.
Very disappointed. While the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere felt cool... The wait was unacceptable. We waited 35 minutes for 4 burritos. Which were, unfortunately, quite disappointing and caused all of us an upset stomach later on. I typically dont give reviews less than three stars, but this place earned it. The only thing saving it from a one star review was the cool environment and friendly staff. You know youre doing something wrong when every customer in the store was complaining about the wait.
Awesome tacos and great staff! Helped me custom order a taco just the way I wanted it, then made it fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
