This unfussy hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Alaska SeaLife Center, and 2 miles from both Two Lakes Park and hiking trails on Mount Marathon.Featuring wood furnishings and carpeted floors, the down-to-earth rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minifridges, as well as microwaves. Some come with balconies.Complimentary perks include breakfast and parking. Other amenities consist of guest laundry facilities, and meeting and event space.
Great location and rooms are fine. Staff is helpful. Breakfast is complimentary but not very good. There is no parking for the hotel, and we were advised to just park anywhere in the street. Worked out, but it was just odd!
They have given up and a group of students is in charge, so nothing works. Your room will not be ready at 4PM, your room will not be cleaned unless you request it, and they will not let you know you have to do that.... and they cant refund or discount anything in exchange. But we paid close to 300 USD a night. Not ok. Im sure you can do better.
Clean and quiet with friendly staff. Basic room with strange design: the faucet is at the entrance to the room, iutside the bathroom. Good location, street parking is free but not always available. Limited selection biffet breakfast does not include any vegetables or fruit.
(See 2 week prior review by John Poss regarding clogged toilet. We got assigned room 301, and after dinner nearby, found our toilet was clogged (I wonder if Poss was also in 301). We were told there were no other rooms available. Just as Poss mentions, the gentleman at the front desk tried to unclog it with DRAINO 🤣. Obviously that didn’t work. He then used a plunger to no avail. There was no maintenance person available. The entire situation was very stressful as toilet was unusable for a couple of hours. Fortunately, I found Poss’ review and confronted front desk with it, got him to admit that this was an ongoing problem. He was nice enough to apologize, and magically found another room for us. We are moving to another hotel after tonight. Overall, friendly staff member who tried to help - wish he had offered the other room earlier. Property needs work - they should consider an on-site maintenance person. Hope management will fix 301 toilet. Hope Best Western will pay attention to the negative reviews pointing out ongoing problems.
Great location, friendly staff, and nice laundry setup. Not a queen size bed in our room (hotel claims it is but height doesn’t lie and it was a fullso don’t count on getting one!
Pro’s: convenient location, good view from the roomCon’s: AC too loud to use at night, rooms are tiny, beds are not queen but double, very expensive for what you get
The room is small but other than that everything is good
The room I received had a stopped-up toilet. The maintenance guy went home at 3pm. The front desk guy came and used drano, as if that would work, and they wouldnt let me use a plunger. My brother, who is disabled, had to walk across the hotel to use the public restroom through the night. I talked to the next person at the desk, and she said she was sorry, but didnt offer any compensation. When I asked for a partial refund, she finally talked to the manager and gave me a $50 credit, which was insulting, considering that I could have spent $200 less if I wanted a shared bathrroom. I have stayed at many Best Westerns across the country, and I have never seen such poor customer service. I hope the manager sees this and does something to improve the services that they charge so much for.
Overall our experience here was good. I only have a few small complaints: the air conditioner is extremely loud and wakes you up when it turns on. You can even hear the AC of your neighbors it is so loud. The breakfast was good but it was the same every day. And the shower head sprayed straight at the back wall of the shower and could not be adjusted.
A very nice hotel located in Seward Alaska. Located downtown on a corner overlooking the bay. This is a moderate hotel. Clean rooms, breakfast provided. Easy parking. Close to attractions and restaurants. If your catching a cruise ship out of Seward go a day or two earlier, hotel will fit your needs.
Great view of the bay from the room. Good breakfast. Staff was helpful during check-in. Parking is only available on the street, but it was free.
The hotel is not new, however it had everything that I need when I am in Seward for work.Beautiful location too!
Great hotel overlooking the bay. Nice rooms and friendly staff. They are closing for winter soon but still have a few guests staying. I was told they actually should have been closed by now and we are thankful we did not have to change our plans, or try and find another place to stay. We would stay here again.
Our room was disgusting. We found hair, not our own, on the bed sheets and pillows. Popcorn kernels were in between the sheets. We wiped down the room and the sanitizing wipes were filthy by the time we finished. Room had a dirty feet smell. For what we paid for this property, you’d expect at a bare minimum it would be clean. Would not recommend staying at this property.
The hotel was clean and conveniently located. We purchased our stay through a 3rd party and when we arrived they downgraded our room to a room with no windows and still paid over 280.00. The room was extremely hot as the air conditioner was extremely loud and didnt work. Our only reprise would have been a box fan provided in the room until we found out it didnt work either. Hoping to get a parcel refund
We spent 9 of our 10 nights in Alaska at the Edgewater. It was the perfect choice for our needs. Candace, Dakota, and all the staff were polite, kind, and accommodating to answer all of our questions. They were knowledgeable of the area and always pointed us in the right direction. We also observed their patience with many others that had booked with booking.com and had no rooms. Call Best Western directly, we did. The hotel had a washer and dryer so we packed less in our luggage. The parking wasnt posted in front but we were never far away. The Safeway and Frontier stores had gluten free options which I needed. The hotel is at the quiet end of town near Resurrection Bay. We often took a complimentary cup of coffee and walked down to read, write, or just soak up the beauty. We will return.
We called for room availability and Candace helped us with a smile on her face; we could tell even through the phone. When we arrived, she was friendly, personable, and shared helpful information about the hotel (including guest laundry details! The room was nice and clean, the water was hot (which was perfect after a wet and cold fishing trip), and yummy food was within walking distance. You have everything you need here!
We asked for an extra blanket as the temperature dropped suddenly because of rain. They said they dont have any. This is the first hotel in my entire life who said they dont have any extra blanket. They dont even clean and change the towels daily. The bathtub is tiny and the shower curtain covers half of the tub floor. The toilet flush is broken and you can hear water leaking all night long. This is not expected when you pay 359$ per night. Next time we would prefer to stay in our car rather than Best Western.
We checked into the hotel with a lovely woman named Candice, although it went downhill fast. We went into our room and found it dirty, the general manager Melissa was less than helpful and was rude. Candice did move us to a new room, but unfortunately the toilet didnt flush and the air-conditioning didnt work. We would not choose to stay here again, we would really just stay in our car rather than stay in this hotel!
So far overall a good hotel, unless they put you in a room with no AC and its a summer day of 70, pushing the room temperature to into the 80s.I was provided a box fan, which you can see in the picture below was rather dirty. The staff was helpful. For over 300 dollars a night at the very least I expect a much nicer fan.
I am sorry to say my family did not have a good experience at this hotel. The rudeness of one of the front desk staff members really put a damper on a first vacation in some time for many of us. Personally, the lack of any effort to fix a broken air conditioner in a room with no other ventilation options, and no efforts to make the inconvenience more tolerable was unforgiveable. When we were told if we didnt like it we could take our business elsewhere, we should have done just that!
This is a straightforward hotel. Our room had a view of the water and mountains. I went into the stay appropriately collaborated on what to expect, so I thought the 4 stars was justified, but, as a warning this is not a 4-star hotel experience. The rooms are pretty dated. We asked for a crib, and were told they didnt have any. The free breakfast was minimal and the coffee was really bad. Again, kind of what I expected, so it was fine with me, but dont want people to be misled!
Very friendly staff! Conveniently located with in walking distance of the aquarium and down town shopping and restrictions. We had a great view feom our room.
A very nice hotel on the edge of the water in Seward. The room is clean, modern and a good size for 2 adults. Includes tv and fridge. Staff is friendly and the included breakfast has a big selection. We visited the Seward shipyard just north of the city and when we left the hotel, we drove onto Lowell Point Road which is a very short distance from the hotel for a very scenic view of the city of Seward and the bay.
So my wife and i have always love The Best Western, the room were great, the views have incredible views however, last night the refrigerator kept me awake ALL night with loud noises, the vending machine and ice machine are not working - apparently Covid is the new excuse for not offering exceptional total quality of service. When i stay at a hotel i dont believe that i am only paying for the bed that i am sleeping in, but that of the total quality and experience offered by the hotel name and brand. last night The Best Western failed. During my next stay i will need to try another hotel when i come over from Soldotna.
Great place to stay, location near some of the beauty of Steward. Walking distance to many things, the open water were you can see wales & their spray, beauty of the water & mountains, restaurants, walking areas, the sea museum and the towns free shuttle. The staff and amenities were excellent. Felt very comfortable and enjoyed my stay.
Was forced to use the 4pm late check in time even though I did not sign up for it. They turned away all customers until 4pm. They didnt even check to see if our room was clean. Was forced to keep my luggage in the car and change in a restroom.....The hot breakfast was nice and the room was nice
Nice hotel. But our room felt small for two people, no good place to put our bags, and parking is limited, had to park quite a distance away and walk back. Staff was friendly, housekeeping was good. Complimentary breakfast was fine.
I love this hotel. I have stayed there twice and both times were fantastic. I love the location-easy walk to attractions, yet out of the way of the hustle and bustle. The service from the front desk is excellent-they were quick to respond to any questions or requests I had. I will definitely stay there again.
Wonderful place to stay! Our room overlooked the bay. Close walking distance to restaurants and activities. A very short drive to boat harbor. Staff was wonderful and very helpful as far as where to eat and what to do. The balcony let us enjoy the breeze off the bay. Breakfast exceeded expectations as they had a made to order omelet station and a great variety of other options. Stayed there once 7 years ago also, and we would go back again!
First of all, this hotel does not have a parking lot. You have to park on the street. The street in front of the hotel does get parked and full very early. There is a church parking lot across from it but you cannot park there. We have an ocean-view room that has a small balcony which allows literally just two people to stand on it. The hotel is at the corner of two streets so standing on the balcony you will be looking at the street first. Beyond the street there is the ocean and the mountain. We kept our curtain closed all the time because our room was too close to the street. There is a diner just across from the street next by the church. The hotel also offers continental breakfast in the morning. This hotel is at the end of the road, but Seward is small so driving to the harbor and other places is very convenient from the hotel. Most hotels in town are on the street but with the town being small it is pretty quiet at night. We might not stay here again because of the parking situation, but if that does not bother you, this hotel is cheaper than others in town and offers a good stay.
Do Not stay here. The rooms and halls smell like urine. The rooms are small, no decent lighting, and the beds came over on the mayflower. If thats not bad enough you have to share bathrooms. I did not sign up for this, and thanks to my luck all the rest of the hotels are sold out. What a great experience for my wife and I last night in Alaska. STAY AWAY.
My last stay at this property was 3 years ago, and I still highly recommend it. Very clean, the staff was extremely helpful. The shuttle from train and cruiseport is a lifesaver. Gotta love the constant supply of Ice Water and Iced Tea, as well as the fresh from the oven cookies in the evening! Always my choice to stay in Seward!
Went to Seward, AK for an event. The lobby was nice and could see where breakfast would be. The room was very nice. There was a refrigerator, satellite tv, a balcony facing the water. The bed was comfortable and when I asked the desk for 2 more pillows right away. Restaurants, candy and tourist things all within a couple blocks, I.e. walking distance. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
An outstanding place to stay. The rooms are clean and roomy. The staff is very helpful. The breakfast is outstanding. The lady who operates the breakfast is so kind and helpful. She makes sure you have everything you need.
Disappointing experience. The room was small and overpriced. The "mountain view" was really of the street outside, and was noisy. The staff said they were unable to move us to a bay side room. The bathroom was so small that the vanity was out in the room, making it impossible for one person to get ready in the morning without waking up others. The staff said all rooms were configured like this. The breakfast was blah. The telephone in the room wasnt working, nor was the TV. I also overheard a staff member refuse to allow another guest a one-hour late checkout so he could go fishing in the morning. Never saw staff so unaccommodating to guests. Wouldnt recommend this place.
Stayed here for two nights with my wife, two sons and one of my sons friends. We were in town for a boat tour of Kenai Fjords. The hotel was fine. We had two rooms and both were good. We usually prefer staying in a hotel that has a restaurant and bar, but there are numerous dining choices close to this hotel so that wasnt a problem. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and would stay there again should we return to Seward in the future.
Nice view from balcony, room was large. The hotel is located very close to the downtown restaurants and shops.Sheets and pillows lacked the quality one would expect from this price, however the room was clean. The lobby had several worn out sofas and was poorly laid out. The breakfast room was very small which made it difficult to even see what was offered.
Nice hotel. Some unique touches were the grand piano in the lobby and DVD players in the rooms. Every room also had a refrigerator and microwave, and heater and air conditioners. The only problems were that they didnt have any rooms with two queen beds, so our family of four had to compromise on bed space. Also, the clothes dryer didnt work. Otherwise, great hotel.
For one of Best Westerns nicer "Plus" locations, I expected nicer rooms-- they were small and very, very ordinary. Even the bathroom sink, which is actually in the main room and not the shower/toilet area of the bathroom, is a bit small feeling.Parking is also not the greatest, but the front desk clerks do a good job explaining the details. The location is great, the lobby (with grand piano!is nice enough, and the hot breakfast buffet, while quite standard for a Best Western, is more than pleasant enough to average it out to a pretty decent experience.
There were things we really liked about this hotel: sitting area in the oversized queen room, comfy beds, fabulous breakfast room and food, location in Seward, lobby layout including grand piano. Dislikes: A few things in disrepair, inconvenient parking. Overall we would stay here again even though we were frustrated that the on-site manager at the time was so hard to find when the desk attendant wanted us to talk to her about a concern we had resulting in a long wait at our checkout.
Before i say anything, let me tell you that this was my anniversary tripHere are the issues I had in the hotel. I was in the Room#105* TV was not working* A toilet flush from the room above can easily be heard* The Toilet in my room was not clean* The shower gel was empty* The bathroom tub was not draining quickly. While the breakfast was good, the folks at the front desk were excellent; everything else has been awful for the price I paid. I have been a long time customer of choice hotels and this Alaska trip wanted to check best western". Booked a total of 5 nights but this specific hotel was the worst and I may not return to "Best Western".Note: We checked into the hotel after a 9 Hr long Harding Ice hike @Exit Glacier and just wanted to crash to bed. Certainly did not expect we will face these issues and talk to front desk so someone can come and fix this. The price I paid per night was extremely ridiculous for the services I got.
TV remotes didnt work. Tiny bath towels. Tiny tub. Shower curtain hangs on the floor of the tub. Shower head wont adjust down. Almost sprays on the wall. Bathroom door swings out in an obtrusive manner. Bang your head and stub your toe in the middle of the night bathroom visit. Funky WiFi. Heating and cooling was confusing.Spectacular view on the corner room we had.Friendly staff. Great downtown location. Close to good restaurants (cookery). Close to the marine center. Good breakfast included. Clean modern rooms. Nice king size bed. Would stay again.
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Our view of Resurrection Bay was spectacular and we were just steps away from good shopping and restaurants. We loved have both a refrigerator and microwave in the room. We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel offering a courtesy shuttle to the cruise dock and then back to the railroad station. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to go there again!
Rooms are really small. Breakfast was really good compared to other quick breakfast hotels. Biscuits and gravy were good. There is a serious lack of available parking. If you arent lucky enough to find a spot on the curb, their parking lot is 1.5 blocks up the hill, in the rain.
Location of this hotel is great and the interior as well as the exterior are above average. Staff are very accomodating. The improvements I see needed is: Air Conditioner Units need replaced.Room Carpet needs replaced, I dont think cleaning will improve the carpet appearance.
The Best Western Edgewater in Seward was a fabulous little hotel right on the waterfront. It was clean, nicely appointed and comfortable. We had a room with a gorgeous view of the water and mountains. And I especially liked that their hallways were a gallery of a local artists wonderful work. The staff was great and helpful. Overall, a great value!
Clean hotel with immaculate reception and breakfast dining room. Piano in the lobby was available for my brother to play...nice touch for guests. The rooms were fresh, clean and roomy. Customer service at the front desk, van driver, room attendants and baggage handler were so helpful and customer service oriented.
Very nice clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms with balconies and great views of the Bay tend to be smaller that those without. We chose one of the larger corner rooms that did not have such great views but was satisfactory. Seward is not a place to enjoy from your hotel room anyway! We stayed there for 3 days and enjoyed the experience.
The location is easy to find, right near the water. The rooms are clean and spacious. The provided soaps and lotions smell really good. The free breakfast in the morning is sufficient. Microwaved eggs and sausage were actually pretty good. Make your own waffle station was popular. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
