Best Pad Thai - Thai restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand
Definitely worth the hype! Their signature Phad Thai (shrimp Phad Thai with tofu and wrapped in eggis the best Phad Thai I’ve ever had, and for a very reasonable 150 baht. Staff very polite as well. The big screen with animation about the restaurants history is a bit over the top for me, but other than that can really recommend this spot.
Its a real Tourist trap, the taste is so so for me (a bit sweet). They will make you wait like 30 mins to one hour and its funny because when we walk into restaurant, the table is not full.It is also too expensive, these 2 dishes are ฿500 and ฿700. The staff recommended the most expensive dishes for us and we ordered it because he said it is best option for 4 peoples. As you can see, the portion is too small for 4 ppls, this is really disappointed!! And we feel bad for it. You don’t need to trick us in order to make we spend more money. Finally, we have to order another dish which cost more ฿150 and still not full.I added one more star for the orange juice, its the only thing worth for the money. So, go get Pad Thai somewhere else, you will find something similar in half price. Waste your time and money
The seafood pad thai is definitely the highlight. really nice and flavourful. but the regular signature pad thai is a tad bit underwhelming. not sure how they got the michelin star. i think its overhyped. but its still a good meal. price is reasonable too. When I went in Oct 2022, seating inside the restaurant is only open from 5pm onwards, before that only takeaway option is available.
Thipsamai Padthai is one of most recognized Padthai in Bangkok . Serving only Padthai for more than a decades. This is popular tourist spot around the old town area, and it’s the original of Thipsamai .There are variety type of Padthai offers here but mainly three, Padthai original cover with eggs and shrimps butter, with out eggs cover, and classic one. The recommend version is Cover or not cover eggs but shrimps butter is a must to add on Padthai. Price is reasonable here and quality ingredients, taste is amazing and flavorful.
This is one of the Michelin Star shop in Bangkok, accessible via a taxi. The dish that makes it to the stardom is quite nice but I would highly recommend the normal Pad Thai. They do offer take out and also ingredients for your own cooking. They have an local orange juice that tasted more like mandarin orange juice. A bit too sweet for my liking, added water to dilute it. The typical waiting time is around 30mins to an hour.
The place is a legend is Bangkok, so just because of the history is worth to try. The menu is short, basically no more than 10 dishes all some kind of Pad Thai. You can ask for a vegetarian option or order their seafood ones. The portions are more “international” so check for it in case you are someone with small appetite. I am not into sweet main dishes but the authentic cuisine in Bangkok is quite sweet, so if you are like me, prepare yourself for some sweetness in all the options. The sweetness can be diminish by the use of chilli powder, lemon juice and fish sauce that you can find on the table. My recommendation is the signature dish with shrimps, it has crab meat as well so it balances the rest of the ingredients really nice. Beware also of the fact that the coconut signature drink is god but mega sweet so I recommend ordering an extra bottle of water to mix together so have it not so sweet. The payment is just in cash which is not so cool for tourists but hey, be aware of this and take cash with you.
Best Pad Thai you can eat. 10/10!This beautiful food is etched in my memory. Michelin star recommended, try it for yourself and be blown away.
Out of our curiosity by so many recommendation to try the best pad thai in thailand, so yes we tried and guess what it is the best oad thai we ever had. Fantastis 🔥
So long as you expect a 30 min wait to sit, and know that menu is highly constrained, you wont be disappointed. The padthai was tasty. You can see it being made. Drink options very limited, so ended up eating with drink. I would eat the Original again. And the price was only 150 bhatt.
Food and service are excellent but why not 5 star … because they don’t update open and close time . On google it shows open and when I arrive around 3:55 pm it is close and reopen at 5 . Suddenly they open at 4:30 ….
Best pad thai in Bangkok! Is 2nd time visit at Bangkok. It located same row as Jay Fai (Michelin guide restaurant- crab omelette). We Come on Saturday. Luckily just queue 10 mins, maybe because the time is on around 5pm. Must try their famous real orange juice! Overall is good, just price is bit pricey. But still worth to try this Michelin guide restaurant when in Bangkok!
Very good Pad Thai. I came here late at night to avoid lines and was able to order their signature pad thai that has lumps of crab in it, hence the high price of 500. Had it to go and the packaging is some of the best i seen. They seperate everything nice and neatly. Pad thai was very tasty and worth the price in my opinion. Highly recommended.
It’s a nice old school place great to experience one. The pad Thai is good and so is the orange juice but expensive. Wouldn’t do the line more than once.
After trying the branch, we just had to try the original outlet. Hands down, it’s the best pad Thai. Take out waiting time was 5 mins and dine in was about 20m at 7pm on a weekend. Jay Fai next door did not have a long wait list either.
Amazing pad thai with shrimps! If you are in the morning (only you can order to take awaybut then there are no big queues to order.Really good quality! I fully recommend!
Arrived at 10am but the shop only started opening up around 10.10am. Please note that only takeaway is available from 10am to 5pm.That aside, the padthai was incredibly tasty with two huge prawns. The seasoning and vege are packed separately for you to add to you liking. Will definitely visit again, one of the best I’ve eaten.
A very famous padthai place that had been opened for generations. The place offered different types of padthai with varying price from around 150baht to 700baht. They also known for their orange juices, which contain nearly a whole orange worth of pulp. For me this place tasted alright, but it can be rather pricey. The service is great and is very foreigner friendly. Would recommend if it was your first time trying padthai and is worth a visit, as it is near many tourist attractions.
Great place to have Pad Thai! The popular order is to try the one wrapped in egg. Very fragrant and you can also add more lime juice to taste as well. Coconut shaved ice is also great to complement the meal. Interesting interior and fast service as well; would visit again if I ever return to Bangkok!
Take away only, looks like dine in is only after 5pm? We took our Pad Thai and ate it at the nearby roti place (also ordered some roti there, delicious). The order didnt take long, may 20mins.Really, really good Pat Thai. Recommend dish #4 Original & #7 Signature. #7 had some nice crab meat and green mango.
Bring the hand fan.Calm for the long queue line. They do try their best to serve you with their manic popularity.Compare with Pad Thai I had tried so far, they still not the best for me (I just happened to love the recipe that have pork fat deep fried, aka, Gaagmoo กากหมูhowever, every dishes come out from this kitchen surely are the best of them!Do not too crazy with their shrimp and ask for the most expensive one (Seafood always better in seaside town), try their regular one with the orange juice is the best choice for this place, and have double order for the big stomach people.Staffs here are all super polite, ไหว้สวยทกคนค่ะ ❤️
I like how the Pad Thai taste like especially since it is being wrapped in an omelette. I also love the coconut smoothie. The ice cream is also a treat to my tongue. The staffs are really nice and can understand and speak English. I love the interior. What I don’t like is that they only accept payment in cash. The other thing is the dine in is only open after 5pm, you can however order for takeaway before 5pm. Something to keep in mind.
Visited this restaurant based on recommendation from our friends who travelled before to Bangkok. Must try is Vegetable or Sea Food Pad Thai, which is recommended/ signature dish of this place. They serve few other variants Pod Thai dishes too. Try Icy Coconut juice and Orange juice too. Service is good. Place is maintained clean and hygienic.Keep in mind - They accept only CASH, in Thai Bahts. No cards or other currencies are accepted.
Professional and well done. Pad Thai tastes decent but you can spice it up with fish sauce, lime, peanuts, sugar, and a little soy sauce. Opens at 5 for dine in so dont come too early and be disappointed!
No… just no.Firstly, yes, technically it’s open on 10am, but we visit 2pm, they closed dine-in and only allow take away. The take away is warm (not hoteven though i ate right there at the front of the restaurant. I can firmly say, after eating at least 100 pad thai dishes in my life, and dozens in bangkok, this is the least tastiest one.
Undoubtedly the best Pad Thai. This beats all the others. A note of caution - since November 2021 they open for TAKE AWAY ONLY between 10am and 5pm. Get there early, we arrived not knowing this at 4:10pm and the queue was already forming. Excellent attentive and helpful staff tend to every need. The food is stunning and the orange juice is probably the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s gently squeezed thereby retaining a considerable amount of the orange flesh within the juice. Make sure you have your Thai Baht ready as this restaurant is cash only. An absolute must go to place when in Bangkok. Highly recommended.
We loved this place. The staff is very thoughtful and efficient. We surprisingly did not wait for too long. Both the pad Thai we ordered were very tasty.
Great padthai. Personally not my favorite Thai style dish, but if it is, definitely the place to go. Service is run like a train. Well done.
Great Pad Thai with shrimps (nr. 5), but not the best one I have had, since it lacked a bit of taste. Price was 150 baht, which is not that expensive. The juice was good but a bit pricey. Their prices on the juice varies from day to day because it follows market prices.Place is very cozy, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth waiting 20 minutes in line for a table.
The first and best Pad Thai in the world! This Michelin star restaurant has everything a good restaurant should have: history, great food, wonderful service and long waits! On a Thursday at 22:00, I waited about 30 minutes before being seated. Once inside, I ordered the vegetarian Pad Thai and famed Orange Juice (lots of juicy pulp!and treated the Pad Thai to a wash in Thai chili and vinegar. Delicious! The noodles werent gummy, but had a nice texture and were elastic. They are a pale color compared to more saucy Pad Thaiz and the dish as a whole is rather sweet. The tofu was very fresh and nicely compressed; had an almost cheese like flavor. I would have loved to have the Pad Thai wrapped in an egg casing (Super Pad Thaibut this cannot be done on vegetarian Pad Thais, unfortunately. Lovely interior with many awards scattered throughout the walls. Professional and meaningful serviceCash only! What a wonderful place to eat and say you have had the worlds first and best Pad Thai 🇹🇭
This was the best (and secondpadthai I ever tasted. No jokes aside it was very good and fast served and the staff was super friendly! It was a good experienced and we went back a few days later!
Tried out Thipsamai of course for their Original & Superb Pad Thai. For the original pad thai, opted for the one covered in omelette. As for the Superb Pad Thai, it has the option for glass noodle and served with crab meat, prawn & mangoes. Why it stood out is because they use prawn oil in their dishes. That luscious red coloured oil, brings out the flavour of the dish more. And the taste is just balanced. For drinks, get the fresh orange juice since it’s so refreshing.
❤️Good place for Padthai, however how they handling more customers may affect the original taste of the dish. May 2022, it doesn’t take long waiting for the que compare to those before covid-19.😼Taste is good but chage from original 10 years ago. Orange Juice is super.😋Tips: Try banana dessert next to this Padthai place.🚘Parking: No parking, should visit this area with taxi or public transportation.
If you like pad thai that tastes like ketchup (sweet tomatoeythen you’ll like this. Otherwise the sauce just overpowers the taste of everything else. Just stick to Jay Fai next door for the authentic experience. Also dine-in only opens at 5pm.
The Pad Thai is famous and tasty. I was expecting for better.I did not like the rapid atmosphere in the restaurant. The que in long so they harry up everything. You can not sit and enjoy your time. Just eat and go because others are waiting.Since November 2021 they open 10:00-17:00 only for take away and from 17:00-00:00 you can sit down
Special mention to the special Phad Thai which they added papaya and crab meat. The papaya salad added a fresh dimension to the flavor. Great experience again.
This 3 stars given is based solely on the Pad Thai ordered for takeaway while waiting for a table at nearby Raan Jay Fai. The restaurant seems to have other amazing dishes mixed of Thai, Italian etc. and looks good.To start of, I’m not really a fan of Pad Thai but since this is one of the highly reviewed and recommended spot and dish, and hence got to try it. Agreed with some reviewers here mentioning the small portion for the price of THB150. However, good for me as I don’t want to be too full for my meal later at Raan Jay Fai.The noodles itself is not the usual brown colour but rather orange-red, which makes it rather sweet. There are also two king prawns with fresh sprouts and spring onions. Taste wise I would say if you like Pad Thai, you will like it but if you don’t, definitely not.
Ive travelled a lot and have tried the famous Pad Thai dish very often... but hands down that the pad thai they serve here is the best one ive ever tried before. I actually want to come back at the end of my thailand trip and order it again. My girlfriend who is a real foodie also agrees that this is the best Pad thai she ever had. So we def recommand the "Pad thai superb" (pad thai wrapped in egg)
Best pad thai I have ever had. Well worth the wait - they have a vegan pad thai offering as well (traveled here with a vegan friend and was pleasantly surprised)! Will be back for more.
Would give it 0 stars if I could. Total tourist trap. Almost any other eatery in bkk would serve up better pad thai.It was extremely dry, goopy, and didn’t have any smoky wok char flavours.Take your money elsewhere.
No. No. No. No. No. “Overpriced tourist trap rubbish” is the only way to describe this restaurant. The first red flag is the hoards of clueless tourists clambering out of vans being led by a tour guide into the restaurant. In a city and country famous for rich culinary traditions, Thipsamai shouldn’t even be on your radar. The Pad Thai sold here is actually worse than what you could even get from that vaguely Thai/pan-Asian restaurant in your hometown in the Middle-of-Nowhere, Europe or the US.Pad Thai, when done well, should be smoky, slightly charred around the edges, both savory and mildly sweet. Thipsamai is none of this. It’s a gummy, sickeningly sweet dish with zero texture and depth. The two pieces of prawn they give you a joke. And the reviews here about the orange juice being so good? Ask yourself: are you really going to a pad Thai restaurant to drink the orange juice? If you are fortunate enough to visit Bangkok, do yourself a favor: explore the rich cultural and culinary landscape by taking risks, stepping outside of your comfort zone, and staying far, far away from tourist traps like this one. Your conscience will reward you.
Firstly, do not be put off by the long queue outside of this restaurant - it goes very quickly!Had the Superb Padthai for 150 bahts which was a nice one, but rather on the small side (you do get 2 decently-sized prawnsand I personally found the shrimp oil slightly too overpowering. My partner had their crab and mango Padthai version and enjoyed it too.Special mention for the OJ which is outstanding and the very efficient + friendly service
We had "The Original". Its good, different flavor from other PadThai we tried. Dont expect to have the best one, but you will enjoy it. Be careful as it is take away only before 5pm.
No doubt it is good - and they are the most famous in Thailand. But there is better ! The shrimp taste like cardboard. The pad Thai not interesting without adding condiments. The Orange juice wonderful - a must have … the AC was blasting in the back room. There were mostly local people and just a very few foreigners … honestly, better to go next door for pad Thai (better and cheaperor just up the block to Jai Fai - a legend with the Michelin macaroon
The best Phad Thai in Bangkok. I always come back everything I visit bangkok. Staff always make you feel you’re a VIP, they even wear suit and tie. Food is always good. I wish they have more variation for the drink. It’s also very well priced, around 200 baths for normal dishes. A little fast pace, and it’s always busy.
Do not be concerned about the long line outside. It moves very quickly, and the whole process inside is quick and efficient.Basic Pad Thai noodles with prawns is 120thb, and fancier versions (with crab, bigger prawns, etcare 400-500thb. The noodles are the same regardless of the version you get. Just the toppings/extras are different. The noodles are so creamy and full of flavour. I think its because theyre cooked in shrimp oil. You can get the egg scrambled in or outside like an omurice wrap.My partner and I ended up getting 3 to share between the two of us.
Really like the pad Thai, excellent place to try it in a different cooking style. The queue was not so long so totally worth it. The shrimps are also delicious!
The pad thai were okay, taste good but the portion is way too small. Putting a fried omelette on top of the noodles is a nice trick, but only makes the 2 shrimps come with it look even more out of place. The condiments are not enough and lacking some essentials like banana blossom. The star of our meal is their orange juice. The sweetness and freshness of the juice is wonderful. The restaurant is clean and service is great.
If you are in bangkok and want to taste the best, real pad thai, this is the place to go. What to drink?Their orange juice is also well worth it.And leave some space for their ice cream. You will NOT be disappointed.
Went there twice .. ordered both of their best seller: the regular shrimp Pad Thai and the one wrapped with egg. Both were delicious, totally live up to the hype.Tips: one alternative if you don’t want to wait in line is to ordered to go and eat at nearby cafe with live music and better drinks .. it’s about 50m from the rest right across the temple.
It is very delicious every menu. I ate three kinds of Pad Thai. I will remember this taste(sweet, scentforever. When I go to Bangkok, Im going to this place again. Thank you for giving me good memories.
