Just the place I needed to be. The atmosphere was taste of good drinks and people kicked back as we doooo!!

Very small bar way overly crowded not really my scene bartenders are not accommodating and theyll get to you when they feel like it

This was a fairly unremarkable bar with a small menu of decent bar food, typical drinks, and good service.I had the Homestyle Chicken, Nashville Hot and the cheese curds. Both were alright and the prices arent too bad given the location.

Great place to hang out with friends. Also great way to meet new people. Patrons are very friendly. Great staff. Awesome music!

No complaints from us at all, a family of 7 and each of us ordered something different. My 8 year old daughter destroyed bbq wings! Our new favorite place! We can’t wait until next trip.

If you havent been here for awhile, things have changed. There was no server. The menu has been greatly reduced. You have to give your order to the bartender.All that side, my smash burger was one of the best burgers Ive had for quite a long time.Oh, the music too loud to even carry on a conversation.

Absolutely delicious food. Fantastic atmosphere and well priced. Bartender was quick to get us drinks, give us a menu when we asked and was very friendly. Highly recommend if you want a drink and good bar food. Their selection wasnt very big but for a bar it worked. Burgers, fries, onion rings were all Fantastic. Even was able to add pickles to a item that didnt have them listed as an option. I only mention that because I have had some smaller style bars or food places deny adding extras if they are not listed in the food description. Fantastic place, a short walk from the Hyatt convention center. Definitely will be eating again from them next time we are on an extended vist up here.

We had a group of 25 ordering drinks and appetizers, Drew was our bartender and was amazing! He was able to take care of our large group plus the other patrons. Thank you for great service, cold drinks and delicious apps!

Fries were so good! Steak quesadilla impressive! Best house cut fries we’ve had in a long time.

Nice tavern with good atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was very good. Only knock on it was the lack of seasonal beers.

Went for restaurant week. Service was friendly, but food took forever considering place was pretty dead. Food was 4/5 when it was received, serving size was good. I will give another shot someday.

Located in the Columbus Short North strip on High street. This bar is actually larger than you think when you enter and plenty of space. TV screens, a large long bar and people that can come to wait on your table too; as an option. Food can be ordered. Afternoon was hopping...

Just had an amazing lunch at Bernard’s. As we were sitting down, Jordin was on her way over with menus and grabbed our drink orders. The Reuben egg rolls were amazing and the smash burger and fries were perfection! It was busy as we went on the 4th of July after the Doo Dah parade, but Jordin and her co-workers worked like a well oiled machine to provide excellent service! This stop wasn’t planned but so glad we discovered Bernard’s Tavern! We can’t wait to go back!

I love this place. Its always dead when I am there but maybe I am just going at the wrong time, but that is ok, I like it not being crowded. Drinks are good and appetizer dip was good too.

I LOVE this bar! I stop in to see my favorite bartender in the city, Jonny. He’s quick with the jokes and even quicker pouring you a drink. This place is a blast!! , 🥴😎🍻Cheers!

My friends and I stopped in last night. The taller male bartender with the ponytail/bun and the eyeglasses was extremely rude and unhelpful. After buying multiple rounds of drinks I asked him for a water. He asked me “how much would I pay for it?” I said I assumed it was free and he rolled his eyes and walked away. I asked him a second time and he stared at me for a few seconds and then walked away again. I then asked a different bartender and she informed me it was self serve at the front of the bar. When we asked the first bartender why he didn’t just tell us it was self serve instead of ignoring us, his response was to throw up two middle fingers at us and then walk away. Not a great way to treat the customers who have spent a good amount of money at your bar and just wanted a glass of water.

Went there with a group of friends and was highly disappointed. I never complain about anything on social media let alone complain at all in general but the experience was awful. I’ve been a bar manager for 15 years and this was by far the worst. Food took over an hour for simple appetizers. The service was not the issue for the most part, I get it big parties are overwhelming and finding employees right now is tough, but the manager could’ve handled the situation a heck of a lot better. Very unprofessional and I would not recommend, nor would I go back even if it were free.

We went in with a group of 9. The food took around one hour. We did order a few orders of well done wings however that should not contributed to the whole table of food taking nearly 1 hour. While we waited in our food, the server did not come over to comfort us and make sure that we were ok during this long wait. Once we asked to talk to a manger, the manager was instantly defensive that we brought it to her attention about our long wait . She said it was the cook’s first day. So while our food took around an hour it just seemed like no one was even paying attention to this long wait and also they just left the cook hanging back there by him/herself ? Another employee could have gone back and helped if anything. The GM noticed on of our group members talking to the manager. The GM asked if we wanted shots to make things better and she asked “what shots do y’all want?”. Our group member said he would go back to the table and ask everyone. The server came to our table and asked “what shots would you guys like?”. We told the server we would like a shot of casamigo to make it easier on the bartender instead of having the tender make a bunch of different shots. Instead we were given green tea shots that seemed pre made and barely and liquor in them. So of course we would get upset because we were offered the option by the GM end given something totally different. Once we brought it to their attention the GM came over and she was also defensive and had an attitude just like the originalmanager we talk to. It was like no matter what we said they would make it out to seem like we were in the wrong or we were just the type of guests who complained about things. Mind you almost our entire group had years of service industry experience. We had bartenders and servers in our group. Our one group member just got off of work and he was still in his work gear. He’s a manager at a popular fine dining food chain. We were allvery professional and understanding group of people, however it just seemed like the Bernards management staff treated us as if we were ridiculous. We had to go out of our way to be accurately accommodated for the bad service we were receiving. The wildest part about the whole ordeal was that they were so comfortable with meeting the guest of their establishments with attitudes of their own. Long food wait (close to 1hrwait in an empty bar. Management was defensive with attitudes. Only the appetizer menu was available and we were never told that until we sat down to get drinks. We made a party reservation there, it would have been nice to be notified about that over the phone at the time. I would not recommend this place. Also @Bernard’s, if you read this review and you intend on responding , make sure you are honest about what happened. There is absolutely nothing I am making up about this experience. I’ve read other reviews about this place and their long wait (drinksand poor service team and I just got to experience first hand. This place is careless and unprofessional. Do not get on here making it seem like we were a tough group of customers, we know the industry just as well as you do and you did not do a good job at respecting the people who come in there and spend their money.

Waited over an hour to get my party of 10s food. Only 4 ordered and it was wings. Was told I could either have a sauce or a dip. Manager told me the server was incorrect on the order. Was given watered down shots for the table and only received the ones we actually asked for after complaining. It wasnt even crowded. Plenty of empty tables. Was told it was the chefs first night. Clean bar. Nice outdoor panels. My best friends bachelor party.Wings were good once properly addressed and I was told the Mac n cheese was good.*******I did not order well done wings, I ordered regular wings and was told I was only allowed to have either a sauce or a dip and was told ranch counted. Then management told me the server was incorrect, and u was brought out a big cup of BBQ sauce. Also I didnt say I was an industry professional. The owner in the reply is confusing me with one of the other black gentlemen at my table of 10. I was actually the man who resolved the situation with management and placed the order for the final shots. If you want me to be more accurate you should do the same and not confuse me with another customer you exchanged words with. I am also not the customer who asked for the two rounds of shots. Just keep confusing me with other patrons.Not to mention all this wait and you guys only had 6 menu items avaliable, all shareable little bites with no real food selection.I mean they passed out menus and everything with food specials and all that, then when I tried to order everything I wanted was sold out or not avaliable. 80% of the menu useless.Smh. Just a testament to how aggressive staff is here. Super long reply that isnt even directed towards me. Nice job guys. Originally 3 stars. Now 2 stars. Horrible customer aftercare.

I went to Bernards this past weekend and let me tell you the customer service was not only fantastic but the food was over the top GOOD too! I was originally walking by but the music and vibes were so perfect I had to stop in. A HUGE shoutout to Jamal because good vibes and good energy is what I live for. Jamal was super friendly, fun, and might I add can make a GREAT mimosa. Jamal just made my day and will keep me coming back. This Sunday for brunch I’ll be back!!!!!!!

Bernards is our new favorite place to go in the short north! Great music, cheap drinks, and good dive-bar vibes. I usually come in with a bigger group and Lauren is very helpful accommodating us and making our experience fun! Will be back for many weekends to come! Love the touchtunes

Lauren is amazing!!!! We absolutely love her and she is the reason we still keep coming back here. With COVID we were nervous that she may not be here still but so happy to see she is still here. She ALWAYS takes amazing care of us and everyone.

This post is long overdue! If you have an opportunity to go to Bernards ask for Lauren. She’s a great server and has so much personality! I personally will go back just to get drinks from her again. Overall great atmosphere, but she just makes it even better.

Bernards has been a great place for my friends and I to go to throughout the pandemic. We love to support local bars and their covid protocols have made us feel safe while being out. Major shoutout to our waitress, Lauren, as she was attentive, fun to talk to and did so while managing many other tables. We will definitely be back!

Everything was great, as I sat at the bar with a family member and had one drink after dinner. Great until this raging ball of fire of a waitress was so loud and trying to "make her point" about following rules that it got the attention of the entire bar. It was handled VERY unprofessional! Whatever issue she had with the guy she wanted removed, that shouldve remained between her, that patron and management.Wouldve stayed for more drinks, but thats not the environment I choose to spend my Friday night. Not a fan!Our bartender however was incredible!

This use to be in of the best bars in town, since Covid the service well there is zero service. Owner have just given up. Don’t wast your time even coming here. Takes 30-45mins to get first drink, and 1 hr to find anyone to close your tab. It’s a joke anymore.

The short brunette waitress was unbelievably rude to my group. Before we said one word to her she yelled at us accusing us of fake IDs that are completely real. After she told us to sit at the bar, she came over and yelled at us to move to a table because 6 people cannot sit at the bar, which is completely understandable. My friend politely asked “is it okay if we sit at a table and just order drinks?” and she replied condescendingly and loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear, “that is not the issue. food is not the issue. you all need to sit at a table because we’re still in the middle of a pandemic.” That was never a problem for us, as we follow all pandemic guidelines. I have no problem with the establishment or any other workers besides this employee. Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. The tall male bartender made us amazing drinks but we couldn’t fully enjoy them because she ruined the our experience.

Drew is very attentive. Welcomed people as the came and went. Quick service, and he was helpful with the options available. Bar is a good size with tons of tvs.

Before covid, this was low-key the best place for really good pub food. People didnt seem to know this somehow, which also made getting a table super easy. One of the best burgers in Columbus, amazing wings, really good thick-cut fries, and definitely the best French onion soup in the area (Im confident that Ive tried them all). Then they closed, and I was worried that they wouldnt weather the pandemic. Im happy to report that theyre back, and though they dont have French onion soup right now, everything else I loved from them is back, too. Give them a try if youre looking for the basics done really, really well.

Great, little bar on the short north! Food was good! Prices are decent. Clean spot. Valet and a little bit of street parking available. Late night DJ was great! Matched beats, harmonies and rinsed into some great mash ups! Service was good too!

5 🌟 for food! The service was pretty good until the end. Then it became very slow. The server seemed more interested in the people at the bar then finishing up with the patrons. We were put off by it. We asked about maybe more help and evidently that isnt in the near future. In my opinion, That was the only issue.

First off, the bar is extremely cold. Turn your heat on. I should not have to wear a winter coat while I’m in the bar for hours. Second, your bartenders are oblivious. Do not ignore the people sitting at the bar with empty drinks. Women have money also. I understand asking for a card to hold the tab but please ask if I want it charged to the card before charging it because I prefer to pay cash at the end of it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Colleagues and I went to Columbus for a work trip and we stumbled upon Bernards the first evening we were there. Bartender Alex greeted us and served us while we were there. Being our first time to Columbus, she welcomed us and offered suggestions on where to go during our stay. She also said the if we had any questions we could come by or call her and she was willing to help us with anything. Alex was polite, friendly, and hospitable. She really made us all feel very comfortable for our first evening in Columbus. We started our week at Bernards and we ended our week at Bernards in hopes we would see Alex again. Bernards is a chill bar with music, TVs for watching sports, and is a great place to go for a drink. Also, our last night in Columbus, they had a live band with karaoke. That was a great time! Thanks Alex for being an amazing person!

I would highly recommend Bernard’s Tavern. I went in on a day that I was super busy and the wait staff was extremely helpful. The food was really good and the beer was greatly price. I would recommend going there in any day besides probably a Saturday because it’s so busy there. The wait staff went above and beyond and all those people should get a raise I would go there again at any rate. Thanks for kicking that really drunk guy out. Haha! Lol!

Great drink menu. The food was delicious. The prices were reasonable. They didnt have enough wait staff, though. The live band Karaoke was great. The bathrooms were not the cleanest, but they were not gross either. There are lots of TVs. We go there every year.

Food is excellent; good diverse menu and very well prepared with great prices. Service has been good the 3 times we have been (small group). With few staff I wonder how they would handle it if it got really busy, but Im assuming on Sunday evenings they are not expecting a big crowd (for now?). The music could be a bit quieter when the place is empty. If they can open up the front and let the outside in more this would be a great hangout spot.

The food was great but the service was terrible. We had a party of 12 but were the ONLY people here for the majority of the time. (Minus 2 people at the barWe wrote our own orders down on a piece of paper because it took over 30 minutes to even get our drinks. It also took 45 minutes for our whole table to get their food. The place was empty the whole time, and now we know why. If they had better service I bet this place wouldn’t be so bad.

Great for their screens for sure, good layout, but unfortunately couldnt hear the game although they did have the audio on. Often thats fine, but to watch the Buckeyes in their hometown, it was a bit of a disappointment. And that was the vast majority of the crowds intent. If you dont care about hearing it, youd be challenged to find a better spot for sports.

Bernards Tavern was one of my favorite places to enter leaving arena district years ago. It was the place you go because everyone wanted to go to finish off the night there. And see all the same people that wanted to do the same. The bartenders, security, everyone knew our name. It made an even more fun establishment to partake in a few beverages. Recently, (after the Ohio State vs Michigan football game, I found myself back at Bernards with those same friends that all happened to be in town. The new lighting throughout the bar made it feel more fun and exciting to be there. If you have only been there for the nightlife take a moment and make it there a little earlier in the evening because the food is fantastic. I have eaten there several times and have not come across a single menu item that didnt disappoint. There are a plethora of televisions that help you stay in the know about any game that you may be keeping track of and a huge projector screen in the back. Still love that Touchtunes rules the scene and everyone is still having a good time. Ive missed you Bernards, you keep feelin yourself.

Great place to eat, drink, and watch the game or just go hang out with your friends for lunch or Happy Hour/ Dinner! The Burgers are AMAZING! Fast and Friendly service, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to go out to have a Great Time!

This place looks like a local dive bar. This place smells like a local dive bar. This place pretty much is a local dive bar. What people may not realize is that it serves fantastic food. Some of the best food I ate while in Columbus came from Bernards. Decent beer selection as well.

I always seem to end up here during happy hour, which is perfect. Its chill, calming and relaxing. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive and the music is always one point. The back bar is lined with large flat screen TVs and super sharp.

Ordinarily, I am not a big fan of the rowdy crowded bar set up with music at excessively loud volume. (Yeah, yeah, I could be a real crotchety, grumpy old curmudgeon for much of the time. "Damn whipper-snappers!"However, I found the experience much more comfortable than I would ordinarily expect. Though the bar was busy when I visited, it did not trigger any claustrophobia or crowd aversion. I suppose part of it may be cultural, the local people are politer, than say, Chicago where there would be much more pushing and shoving in a busy bar setting. Also, I dont think music volume was much above the threshold of conversation. I definitely enjoyed the brief time we visited (and would have been just fine staying longer), even if it would not be my ideal scene ordinarily. I recommend paying Bernards Tavern a visit.

We visited during The Arnold Classic. It wasnt slammed but steadily busy. After waiting for an extended time to order one of the servers came over and asked US who had our table! The food was good. Nice portions. However, after receiving our order no one approached our table until the check. When we finally found our waitress to pay her response was, "Oh, I thought I cashed you out awhile ago!"

Half off drinks and appetizers made for a nice happy hour. We ordered several appetizers and they were all really good. The staff checked in on us frequently, especially when the happy hour was coming to a close. Would definitely go back again.

Great spot in the short north especially if youre coming from out of town. Easily accessible from a quick Uber or walking from most places downtown. Great wait staff, beer selection, and the menu is good if youre looking for something small or for a full meal. Great for watching sports as well!

Went there at 5 pm on Saturday of gay pride. No drink specials. Drinks were reasonable in price and well made. Had the buffalo chicken strips. These were a total rip off. Received 4 breaded small chicken strips limp and drenched in buffalo sauce. Reminded me of cheap microwave food but for restaurant prices. Terrible table service. Wasnt busy at all. Waitress was not interested in serving us. Will go back, but no more food and will go to the bar to get our own drinks. Very disappointed.

The food was good but the service less so. We called ahead to make a reservation for our team, we were informed by another team that they accommodated them well, and were told we were good to come and they had space prepared for us. When we arrived, they had saved us only a tiny back room with a couple tables, not enough chairs, and skinny bar counters for us to eat on, not what we were told would be waiting for us. We made do and the food was good. Need to work on serving larger groups.

I think we were the first customers of the day, today. The server, she was spunky and fun. I had the Smoky Slaw Burger with fries, She had a Cobb salad with steak added. The food was great The portions were over the top. The sweet and sour of the slaw on my burger was enhanced by the BBQ sauce mixed in...plus cheese and bacon! Life is good. The price was right on target. It doesnt advertise itself as 5 star decor with linen tablecloths, so I cant ding it for that. It had good bar decor. The food and service exceeded my expectations.
