Marshes, grassy hillsides & rocky beaches attract hikers, birders, fishers & cyclists to this park.
Awesome place. Watch out for the coyotes. Dont start none. Wont be none. Leave them be and theyll do the same.
Nice run route next to the water, my issue with it is all having 680 right next to you. A bit more distance between the road would be awesome
Cool place for biking or walking with some beautiful view.
Update: Below was the review of many, many months ago. Unfortunately now, its a different experience due to encounters with visitors who present with rudeness and behaving in a manner that does not prioritize others safety and positive community. Props to the local rangers who try to keep this place safe for local residents and those that appreciate nature and behave in a civil manner. Peace!Benicia State Recreation area is STILL awesome! Great place for a walk, jog/run, or cycling. Never too crowded. Wish attendants were back at the kiosk/entrance areas, but oh well as long as visitors are respectful of the parks natural beauty/habitat and are mindful of throwing trash in the garbage (remember those things called trash cans?), then it will stay BEAUTIFUL. : Peace out*
This is a beutiful place to walk and enjoy your beutiful views
Two ununiformed "park staff" who had no identification kicked us and our toddler out after we payed to camp. We have a self contained camper, while not an RV, meets all the legal definitions, to be considered as such. Dont waste your time or money. What a shame
Great place to exercise and ride my bike, love the scenery.
It affords a fantastic opportunity to walk short distances or three miles. The view is great and as you walk along you can hear birds singing and see natures little critters scurrying about. It is a perfect place for a picnic too.
Such a great place to hike and relax!
Nice walk, beautiful views, clean air... Great sightseeing!!!
Great hikes along the largest strait in North America. Views of the urban wilderness interface. Abundant wildflowers in Spring.
Nice place to walk, jog or ride,as the state charges for parking or entrance to the inner parts they could(or shouldupdate the parking permit system for the access point off of military west, the folks who walk their dogs could have a little more class and pick up the droppings and not hog the road with their dogs and themselves..and after watching two guys yelling at each other over one possibly going through the others belongings on his parked and locked bike the state should install a multi bike covered pod simular to the ones used by cities..if the park service could address these issues it would make it a safer and more enjoyable experience and worthy of 5 stars...
It is an enjoyable walk. You have the option of walking on pavement the entire way or doing a couple loops venturing out into the wilderness a bit. I recommend the loops since it takes you further from the road noise.
Great trails & beautiful 360° views from the top.
Great park to explore with incredible views of the Carquinez Strait (where Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet). Nice views of Mt. Diablo and the Carquinez bridge too.
Great area to explore with many paved, and unpaved trails to experience. Good for birding as well, last visit saw 6 species of ducks, 3 species of grebes, kestrel, 3 species of hawks, and so many songbirds.
If you’re feeling stressed, anxious or discouraged, finding the energy to get outdoors may be hard – but it could be one of the best things you could do to lift your mood, particularly during COVID-19. Look no further benicia state park is the best park in the neighborhood. Plenty parking in the park and on street.
I almost forgot how pretty this area is.It had been a long time since Ive been here...
Had fun fishing here with my uncle Gerry! He caught a striped, but it was too short to keep. Then he caught 2 smelt. 🦭🐟
Awesome spot to view the water and lounge with the fam
As Benicia residents, we are here often in all seasons. Now things are drying up of course, but there is always something new to see in nuance. Biked in, and as usual wished for a place to tie up the bikes at the end of the road. We did tie up to a sign post and hiked around the end of Dillon point at water level.
Great place to do short hike...trail runs from Vallejo to Benecia. Family friendly recreation area. A lot of picnic tables. Also, popular place to fish.
Enjoyed a nice walk with my daughter, while granddaughter rode her bike
Beautiful serene place to hike, walk, ride your bike.
Beautiful park space with several trails. Great views of the bridges and Mt Diablo.
Lovely Sunday afternoon there 😊 peaceful setting. Fed the ducks with bread...took family photo by seashore & Legacy shrimp boat. $6 to park. Voluntary.
Great spot for a quick trail run!
Walk, hike, bike, fish, kayak, its all here, as well as bird watching. Great place to social distance with friends.
Open and clean. Place isnt busy and is a great place to just relax, take a walk or go fishing. Its proximity to some stores make it easy to access some things you forgot for a picnic.
Beautiful and not as crowded. $6 entry but well worth it. Prepare to walk. Nice beach area.
Fun great place for a walk with your family and friends ❤
Only 3 spots for camping overnight, first come first serve, ranger was great, quiet and 5 min to city and one would never know
Very peaceful and beautiful park with paved trails all the way through and breathtaking views of the strait. It’s definitely a trail for all levels and ages with very minimal hills. There is an amazing view of the Alfred Zampa Memorial Bridge at the end.
Only $6 per vehicle. Pet friendly and plenty of trails to walk around.
Beautiful place to get some fresh air. There are a few trails for hiking and riding bikes on the west side of the park near glen cove. The trails are fairly flat and feature less but loads of great views of the carquinez strait. Great spot for beginner off road cyclists. Its a big hit with fisherman as well.
Well suited for jogging and some limited hiking. Views of both Martinez and Carquinez bridges.
Wonderful weather, great trails with tons of options, fantastic views
Well my daughter is in Kumon, Karate, and Jujitsu, we bring our dog Godzilla out for a walk in the trails and he absolutely loves it by the time we get home this dog will sleep for the rest of the evening and until its time to go to bed obviously he sleeps in my bed.
The walking/running/biking/hiking trails are nice. However, we all need to keep the park clean with responsibility. In this case, there are still irresponsible pet owners (see pics). I wish the park & city would strictly enforce the laws to keep the park/trails clean. Also, the 15MPH speed limit is ignored. Cars/trucks alike are going at least 25-30MPH easily. Again, the city/park should consider to enforce the speed limit. Perhaps; for starters, issue a few tickets for the irresponsible pet owners and speed drivers. Its a start, right? All in all, BSRA is a great park to enjoy. 😃
Good for fishing. Nice path to walk. You do have to pay for parking. 2 or 3 dollars
What a hidden gem. Beautiful location for family picnics, fishing and hiking.
This little park is a hidden gem. The shoreline trail has a lot of driftwood and sandstone. People have built many driftwood teepees. You can see the Carquinez bridges and Mt. Diablo. Salmon are caught here. Boulders fall down which make natural sculptures some families were grilling meat and having a great picnic. The park is close to 780 but is also quiet. Thumbs up to the Benicia residents for its cleanliness.
Home away from home. As a local Benician, I love our piece of the state park pie. This is the local place to calm my soul and feel blessed.
Met up with some friends here with our 7 year old boys to get some outdoor time and picnic. Parking is cash only. Can get windy and we were warned to be aware of the tide when walking along the shoreline. Easy trail hiking and rocky beach play for kids - glad we came here!
NO SHADE except for a few picnic areas. Would not recommend, especially on a hot/sunny day. The Bay Trail runs right along the same stretch of water and you can park just down the street in Benicia and save yourself $6.
The park is located in a beautiful setting - it aligns to Southamton Bay and Sandy Beach. There are fabulous walking and biking paths. The maintenance of the park could be improved upon.
Can be a total drive thru for people not up to hiking. Nice Rocky point...wide vistas. $6 entrance, $12 camping fees.
This Park is a great place to take a walk and relax. The view is very beautiful!
Nice small park with some great views of the Carquinez straits. There are a lot of trails and seating. Great for families.
Beautiful park, long trail to bike. At the end of the paved area you can walk around the point on the beach. Trail is mostly flat.
