Gothic & Romanesque castle from 1869 set on Vista Rock (the park's highest point) with park views.
the castle itself is beautiful with a good view on central park lake, it is made up of two floors that you can access with a narrow staircase. the view is amazing and a great opportunity to take a photo of central park and the lake, the castle is rather small and nothing else to see.
Interesting find in the middle of Central Park, take a free climb up the steep steps and catch a more elevated view
On this crisp fall day a hike to Belvedere Castle is beautiful with its scenic views and overlook it is breath taking.
Kind of cool monument in Central Park. You can go up on the roof and you get a decent view of the park. It’s not all that exciting so I wouldn’t plan your trip around it but if you happen to be in the area with time to kill, yeah by all means, check it out.
Peaceful and good to enjoy Central Park scenery.
Belvedere castle. If the British was here to storm this place, it would be overtaken although it does offer vantage point from high above.
The castle is beautiful but when you view it from northside across the pond. When you reach at the castle there is nothing much in there other than the view from the top. Given its free entry its still worth visiting if you are around that side of Central Park but might not be worth making a trip for the castle itself. Would recommend taking photo from across the pond. There is a spot from where you can see the whole castle.
It was closed today, which is Columbus Day. Lots of folks taking photos. Breathtaking views.
Who needs Scotland when you can just come here. In reality, who needs to ever leave central park. You can probably squat here, and order food delivery and never have any issues. Highly recommend as for a vacation holiday spot!
Nice view. Climb to the top to see the surrounding. We were there with kid who liked it a lot.
Great view, nice experience
Free admission, good stop if you’re looking to take a walk through the park. Tight winding stairwells to go up, but it’s only 1 flight at a time with 2 landings. Plan accordingly.
Little castle in the middle of NYC! The castle isn’t that impressive, it’s mainly just good to ascend to see Central Park from a different perspective. But the view is also not super exciting because the park is relatively flat, so not a priority. But if you’re in Central Park, would be fun to visit. Pay attention to the hours (like 4 or 5 PM). Free admission. Steep and narrow stairs, not accessible friendly. Popular proposal location.
Nice for a visit atleast once. Great views of the city. There is an air conditioned section but no clear signs stating that. Overall worth a visit on your tour if Manhattan
Very cool historical site! Its a small castle, but not underwhelming at all. Many opportunities to take beautiful pictures. Right on the middle of Central Park, close by to one of the many lakes, partially surrounded by bushes and trees giving you somewhat a sense of privacy. Beautiful place within an already beautiful place! I would recommend anyone to visit at least once.
Belvedere Castle is a great viewing castle 🏰, you can enjoy beautiful scenery and city scenery when you climb to the top. Especially standing on the castle 🏯 to enjoy this pool of clear water and blue sky, it is really exciting! This is Central Park worth a visit!
This castle is nice, it looks a little scary too. There is also a lake at the left side, I can see a lot of buildings.
You don’t see castles in America much. The architecture and frankly the novelty of it are enough to make this a stop worth seeing in Central Park. Lots of steps but some neat views from here as well.
An excellent structure to visit in perhaps the ultimate city park!
Nice place for a stop while visiting Central park. Great view!
Just a nice place for a small view of the park.
Sweet little hidden castle. Not many people know it’s there. Overlooks a big pond and concert stage. Multiple viewing levels on 3 different floors. Super charming. Great for kids.
Cool castle in the middle of Central Park! Good little break to enjoy the park - although not too high, it’s the highest peak in the park.
Smaller than I thought but great views of the park and beautiful architecture. We didn’t get there in time to check out the shop inside of it.
Its real nice and the castle is well kept, the view from here is phenomenal and the cool breeze feels good, you have views from all angle outlooking every angle. I really enjoy the jog up here and the beautiful views on the way up to the castle, would really recommend for anyone visiting central park.
Honest review from your southern tourist:Cool find in the middle of NYC.It’s not a bad walk from 81st st. Don’t let the stairs intimidate ya, it’s not to hard to walk up them.Great view point and a decent amount of history and a lot of work went into refurbishing this.Come check it out.If ya enjoyed this review hit the like and or follow button.Have a great day!!!!
Beautiful spot to view the park.
Ive been to Central Park many times and this was my first visit to Belvedere Castle and Im so glad I went. The views are gorgeous. The castle wasnt open when we were there, but it was still worth the visit!
Having grown up on West 90th Street, both Central Park and Riverside Park were my playgrounds...Of the various activities a young boy can experience in Central Park, visiting Belvedere Castle was among my favorites...Unfortunately, back then the building was shuttered (Ill withhold the story of me entering the dark structure through a window)...It wasnt until I went back in 2001 that I had a chance to explore it as the part of Central Park Conservatory its become...If ever visiting NYC, I highly recommend visiting Belvedere Castle...
A nice little historic castle located in Central Park. On the second level there is a nice view, but from the top level, there is an awesome view. It is free to enter the castle. On the way out, you go through the gift shop.
Special place always see wildlife, watch blue grey heron, turtles, red tail hawks.great views of the pond, lawn, walk carved out steps on granite boulders neat too..
Beautiful views. Calm place (in winter). Worth a rest after a long walk in the Park.
Cute little castle in the center of the park. It’s nice that it is free because you can just walk in and get nice views. I would come back.
Wonderful castle with great views of Central Park and the rest of Manhattan. The architecture of this castle is very unique and interesting. The observation platform is also easily accessible and free of charge. This is a great castle that I think everyone should visit if they’re in the area.
It is an attractive place inside the Central Park. You can take amazing pictures.
Beautiful castle inside Central Park and reminds me of Hogwarts in some ways. Gorgeous views of Shakespeares Garden and the pond.
Beautiful Central Park Castle. Wonderful view to the Turtle Pond and The Great Lawn with 6 Softball fields and green for picnics.
A castle in the middle of Central Park, Manhattan! Not something you expect to see. A great piece of history with nice views and good spot for pictures. They have an indoor area/shop but it’s closed right now unfortunately. Another gem in the middle of CP you have to see. Very cute little castle near the Shakespeare garden so you have other picture and picnic opportunities nearby.
I give it a three star only because it wasn’t completely opened. Limited to two rooms, but I know the beauty is there.Nice spot in Central Park, and any castle is worth seeing.
A cute little castle at Central Park. It gets pretty packed here but people just come and go. A-must to check out if youre taking a stroll through Central Park. Its pretty rare to have a castle at a park so I had to come see it for myself. People come to take pictures and catch a nice view of Central Park and the city. You can go up to the top of the castle through a small narrow staircase. Careful because you can only go up or down but not both at the same time. It was the narrowest stairs Ive seen. The changing leaves during the fall with a clear blue sky was the perf view of Central Park. Such a nice addition to Central Park.
Been wanting to visit this place for a while. It was under renovation last year but opened up again recently! The view is magnificent, you can see the Turtle Pond and the great lawn from there! Best for photoshoots!
This place is absolutely beautiful and has some stunning views of the park and the city skyline. Really enjoyed climbing to the top and hanging out for a moment. Cute little gift shop inside the castle. Free to go inside and up the castle though!
So lucky to be here in January and it was warm and sunny out. The castle is a must trek over. There were a bit of people there, doing the same tourist thing that we were doing. But its great nonetheless.
Beautiful building that offers incredible views for free. Was relatively empty on a weekday. Building inside is climate controlled and you can warm up inside on a cold day. Great photo ops await at the top. Avoid if you have trouble with narrow staircases or enclosed areas.
The castle is pretty nice. Today was a gloomy day so there were not many people. Its nice how you can actually go up and see the lake and some parts of Central Park from the tower. Its free of charge to visit. FYI: need to climb 2 floors up.
This castle in the middle of Central Park is just amazing. Its easy to miss it because of the number of places available in Central Park but its definitely worth visiting. The place, the views, the vibe. I was lucky to be there at the sunset and enjoyed both experiences. I loved it!
We had fun exploring the castle and looking at the different things that were here and taking photos from different angles in different places amongst the castle. Its a good landmark to see on your way through the park, but it wont provide you with too much entertainment unless you are really into that sort of thing - the history might interest some.
More than beautiful, great views of the city, if you go in regular hours you can even go up. But regardless of not going up, I can say that it was a great experience, never imagined that such a beautiful place would exist inside Central Park.
A small place to take a break from walking around. It has some lovely views and from here there are several paths through dense forest that makes you feel away from a bustling city. The docents here were super friendly.
Its a pretty little castle in the middle of the park with such an interesting history. There are great views of the park and city from the top floor and a little souvenir shop at the bottom. Listen to park staff regarding the stairs and entrance to the castle!
