Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier - Pier in Long Beach, United States
The water looked perfect at the time I went there which is so sad for such a trashy pier. So getto, most lights were out, as we walked deeper and farther the pee smell got stronger. Trash was everywhere. It was so uncomfortable to walk there after sunset with no lights and pee smell. The biggest fear was the broken cement piece in the bottom where it was so easy for a little kid to fall into the water!!! (See pic)
I use to fish this pier every night until closing time. Now just a visit to wet a line and remember all the good times shared catching or not. Tight lines
Nice to see a landmark tribute to those who served our country! The pier is great for those who like to fish. Paradoxical that there’s seafood serving restaurants nearby for customers who prefer to fish expensive Belmont Shore menu’s, without getting taken hook, line, and sinker!I’m not here for the fishing, tho do enjoy the scenery. The beaches have a different perspective and the unobstructed views of popular land and seascapes and are well worth a quick stroll! There’s a small vendor cart serving refreshments and selling some souvenir items, including t-shirts.Structures that possibly have housed business establishments are located at the end of the pier and appeared unavailable for public access.Restrooms or port-a-potty’s are available on the pier and are serviced during the day.I noticed a combination of oily and old fishy smells that apparently comes with the territory.I detach from the displeasure, my visual impression comes to the fore and I’m transformed into an immersive experience, all while remaining dry!
the pier is a little dirty and getto but fishing is good if you go at sunrise. you can come here and catch lots of maceral.
Great beach to spend time with family. The beach is not the cleanest compared to Huntington and Newport. Parking is free after 6 pm and they have plenty of parking. Fishing is good and you can find a lot of people fishing here. Almost overcrowded always. You mostly get mackerel and sardines here. Sabiki rigs works perfectly fine for beginners.
Had never been to this beach and doubt wed ever do it again. Very dirty, there was a lifeguard picking up used syringes of the ground. This is a family beach, there were kids all over, why arent authorities doing something about this??
Dirty and run down, but you get a nice view of the Long Beach shoreline
Too many ppl fishing on the Pier and homeless all around. They need to clean up the piers and remove fishing to another part.
First time there plenty of parking easy paying method. The Pier was clean people going about their fishing. The beach area was also picked up and clean good place for family gatherings. If you show up in early evening be sure to take a jacket or sweater because the wind gets cold if youre not used to those conditions.
Beach was awesome! It was quite warm, first trip to Long Beach was a fun experience! Parking wasn’t bad at all, we had a great time!
The original Belmont Pier was built at approximately 39th Place in 1915 at a location know as "Devils Gate" for an off shore rock below the bluff. In 1967 the new concrete Pier opened, east of the old wooden pier, which remained until after construction. The Belmont Plaza Pier area includes the plaza connecting the pier to 39th Place. The Pier is 1,800 feet long and 24 feet wide, with an enlarged hexagonal area at the seaward end, and two wings extending 120 feet east and west. A structure at the end of the pier housed a snack bar on the ground floor and lifeguard offices and restaurant on the second floor. Second story uses were discontinued in the 1980s.
Cool pier. Free parking after 6pm but pier gates close at midnight. U can fish and they sell bait and a few snacks Herr. All restrooms are closed but porter potty are open. Of course they have bad odor and graffiti all over. A lot of drug addicts/homeless use these so please be very cautious using and sanitizer what you touch. I believe they can have better maintenance for the restrooms.
Love this pier. It’s perfect to add a few km to my skate, it’s never crowded, there’s lots of places to stop, and there’s a club at the very end. (Club in Saturday’s only - if they’re open rn)
Awesome place to fish and just to enjoy th view.
Great place to take the family for a walk. Lots of people/familys fishing. Really fun
Great walk along the pier, people watching in a brisk sea breeze.
Pleasant to take a stroll down the pier. The view is good and there are food and drink establishments along the shore to visit as well.
I live right down the street. I run past everyday and fish most days. Everyone is super nice, and we help each other out.
Lots of benches, fishers, eatery, and stunning views.
Nice view and relax walking, roller skating, and bicycle 🚴 place.
Had a wonderful time with the family, big fish werent biting, i met new fishing brothas, I caught a lil crab and seen a baby bass for the first time...Aah Ha, PRICELESS!!!
Fun to be outdoors with my family... fishing 🎣 we had a nice time.
This place is beautiful I have no idea why I didnt come before the water is shallow enough for kids to play in the water. The pier was very clean the bathroom are by far the cleanest Ive ever seen in California beaches.
Little pier with lots to offer, parking available and safe for everyone. A must place to visit.
When we came to Los Angeles, I had the feeling that I had entered a series that was adored by my entire generation of Beverly Hills 90210. As a dream come true. Tall palm trees, sand underfoot, people on rollerblades and bicycles, sunset, wonderful ...
Good for fishing, exercising, bike riding or just walking. The afternoons great sunset
Captivating and a beautiful place to visit.
Nice pier in a good, peaceful area in Long Beach. This is a very laid down place, came on a Saturday and enjoyed watching the sunset after a run alongside the beach. Most people were wearing masks while I was there, only a few exceptions with some runners but overall I felt pretty comfortable with the distancing and the flow of public in this area.I recommend coming here to meditate, get your feet on the sand or just workout. Its the perfect activity in these crazy times and I feel the area is pretty safe and family friendly over here.I saw some families roller skating and going on bikes with their kids and I thought it was an amazing idea to get little people outta the house for a while. Also, theres a lot of space closer to the shore if youre not to comfortable with having people walking next to you so, yeah, great place, definitely will go back soon
A nice place to drone fish ! Are just chill !
Super fun place to go fishing at. Everyone is friendly and the sunsets look amazing from the pier as well. Would highly recommend even just to go for a walk.
I love to take walks by the beach in the evening to catch the beautiful sunset 🌇
My new spot for sunsets after work. Not easy to find free parking.
It’s great place to go for an evening walk after walking the walk path along the beach.
Amazing view.. not too crowded... And very peaceful.
