Charming, traditional house built in 1902 offering American fare & wine, along with afternoon tea.
Just plain nice atmospherically as you enter. Excellent food. Server we had was phenomenal!Definitely need to go here.
This restaurant is a charming little gem. We were so pleased to have found it. The ambience is outstanding, as is the food. The drinks were excellent and the customer service was phenomenal. If you are in the area, check out this place! Id gladly eat here again!
We met the chef outside the Bell House on a day they were closed, but he invited us up to eat a Hot Brown on their new beautiful porch! We sat in the sunshine and learned about the history of the Hot Brown and of the Bell House restaurant. The Hot Brown was delicious (our first!and dessert was also amazing. Highly recommend this treat!
One of the best dining experiences ever in Kentucky. Went in with a party of six and tried a bite of everyone’s dish. Everything was superb. My angle hair pasta with meatballs was a little too peppery for me but I’m a baby when it comes to spice. We also got every dessert on the menu and loved it all. Treat yourself a go there.
Lovely restaurant in the town of Shelbyville. Stopped for lunch and ate outside on the porch. Menu had a nice variety of choices. Staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Recommend calling for reservations. They were busy, but handled tables very well. We will be returning soon.
It us an AWESOME place to eat. Check it out. The food is wonderful
Best hot brown I have ever had! Great service too!
I love Bell House! The tomato vinaigrette is delicious. I like the garden quiche and the spicy cajun pasta. Cosmos all around, please.
Among the best dining experiences Ive had! I plan to return often!
I had the hotbrown and it was delicious. Very nice place to have lunch. Best option is to make a reservation as they are busy for lunch
Fairly nice place, beautiful ambience. Went on a dinner date. The mixed drinks are absolutely tasty. The portion size for some of the entrees and appetizers tend to be small but decently made. I would say perhaps deserve a 4.5 star rather than a 4. However, that’s not an option but overall I would say this is a place I would return to.
The scallops and salmon were amazing. Weve been down in the area a few times, but just visited for the first time. Well definitely be back.
Great food, top of the line detail in the restaurant, good menu, professional staff and outstanding fare. We were a part of 6 and there was not one negative comment through the entirety of our experience. Highly recommend this establishment and kudos to Chef Brent was definitely on his A game. His visit to our table, to check on our satisfaction with our meal was quite refreshing and taking the time to have a conversation with us, tell us their history and a bit about Shelbyville was just an added perk for us. Thank you Chef Brent and the entire staff for an exceptional evening at the Bell House Restaurant...... we shall return
Excellent experience, food was delicious and Abby was very good. 4 and 9 tenth rating. Lol
Wonderful atmosphere setting an old Victorian style home. Had chicken salad sandwich and lobster bisque for lunch ..both outstanding. The staff was friendly and very accommodating considering we arrived close to the lunch cutoff (2 pmand did not rush us at all.
Great quaint spot in heart of Shelbyville. Food is a tad pricy for what it is but delicious.
Our new favorite spot. Food is exceptional! Great service. Love the decor and atmosphere.
Wife ordered scallops, three little less than bite sized bits came on the plate. I ordered Bob’s burger medium rare, Bob would be ashamed that it came back well done. It could of been great meat but I will never know because it was so over cooked .Sent both back. The drinks were fine but we won’t be back
Delicious food, gorgeous atmosphere, and amazing staff. Our server, Mary Beth (I believe), was absolutely wonderful!P.S. If someone from the restaurant sees this, please tell her the Renaissance Festival is worth checking out; I promised Id let her know.
I work at a local florist in Shelbyville and we decided to order lunch from Bell House. Several of us ordered the hamburger with potato salad. We all agreed It was one of the best hamburgers we’d ever had and the potato salad was so fresh and delicious too! If I could give more than five stars I would!
I like this place. Its got history and good food. Nice outdoor patio dining. Good beer and wine menu. Recommended
Hot brown was great. Unique. Chicken salad was good and good service.
My lunch was the best, bite after bite I enjoyed my food, followed by a pink lemonade to wash it down. Bell house restaurant that is recommended. A must go to.
Bell House fit us in when I called late with a large party on Oaks night. The service was great, the kitchen was quick, and the food was delicious. I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown and loved it. The atmosphere is so comfortable, we ended up having an impromptu sing along with the table next to us! It was an unforgettable dinner.
Was passing through town and found this gem. Very friendly staff and delicious food, what more could you ask for? Trenda was a sweetheart and made me feel right at home. I had the Hot Brown which is their specialty. A dish Ive never had anywhere else and Ill come back again next time Im in town.
Great restaurant in Shelbyville. Lasagna and pork tenderloin special were great.
I had the Prime Rib and they let me get a thicker cut, wonderful! I am from the south so have never had horseradish that actually tasted good! Only enhanced the flavor more! We were in a large group and I heard the spaghetti was amazing as well. Everyone left happy and full!
Love this place! Hot brown is fabulous! Turkey flat is great and great left over, cold from the fridge!Love the environment, the heritage, the people, and the food!Thankful this place has been preserved!
Great little cafe with the nicest staff and really good food. Had a Ruben sandwich and the wife had the chicken salad with a side of grape salad. It was all really good. A return trip will be coming soon
Ive had lunch and dinner here several times, and have never been disappointed. Then we used the Bell House as the caterer for our wedding, and everything was excellent. They boxed up some of the left overs for my new wife and I to enjoy the next day as we came down off the excitement of the big day. Brent was excellent to work with, putting up with all the crazy requests of my brides grandmother. The staff that came to our wedding was amazing and worked so well together. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Delicious entrees, desserts all in house made, wonderful attentive service! My pasta dish was incredible! Pleasurable experience and will definitely return! Cant say enough great things about the atmosphere and experience! Thank you!
This is such a great place to eat. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in shelbyville.
The chef is a southern class act. Food was great. One of our party asked for modifications to a dish and the chef came out to offer a counter suggestion. She took it and had no regrets. We went for dinner on a random Thursday. It was calm and quiet (think people were at the play). A nice semi formal atmosphere at dinner. Good food. Good service.I got the blue cheese wedge and it was super creamy and filling. Not the overpowering blue cheese you get sometimes, but not ranch on lettuce. I was very happy. Also, we got crème brûlée and it was perfect.
Had dinner at Bell House with my family last night. While the food tasted good and the service was fine, what you get is a terrible value. I ordered the scallop appetizer and when it was brought out to me, there were only three scallops each the size of a quarter on the plate. For dinner, someone else at the table order the twice baked potato but were only given half a potato. I ordered the beef tips for which there was an upcharge and the portion I received was tiny and definitely not worth the cost. I really wanted to like this place. Having moved to Shelbyville from Louisville, one of the things I really miss is the restaurant scene. It wouldve been great to find a place that could become a regular in this town of so few options, but Bell House missed the mark. For me, their cost cutting is enough to make me not return, even though the food was cooked well and the service was friendly. I wonder how many other customers they fail to retain because of these practices?
Simply AMAZING! I got the flat bread steak sandwich with pimento cheese I am going to do my best to try to recreate this. Saved room for dessert and had the apple cake OMG once again delicious and when I come back to town this will be on my list again.
While on a Bourbon Trail weekend, my traveling party of six had dinner here and it was EXCELLENT. From the wait staff to the head chef, the staff was very friendly and engaged with us.The food was fantastic. I had a ribeye and it was cooked to how I ordered it - the sides were great (wedge salad, twice baked potatoand my group shared several of the appetizers that were all very good. Their dessert menu was great - the coconut cream pie was delicious, and the crème brulee that I tasted from another member of my party was perfect. My entire party was pleased with the dinner, and the prices were very fair for the quality and service we received. All in all - the experience was better than advertised.
Visited with a group of ladies from my office around 12:30pm. I had never been but a couple of my coworkers had been several times. They had made a reservation, which I thought unusual for a lunch spot. When I arrived, I understood why since it was a relatively small place, but not in a bad way! It was perfectly adorable and quaint, and the size just made it seem all the more cozy. I had the French dip sandwich w/potato salad, and we shared the fried green tomatoes appetizer. The food was delicious! In fact, when I saw what my friends had ordered, I was already making a mental note on what I would order on my next visit! And there will definitely be a next! I highly recommend this place.
We had lunch and enjoyed it very much. My husband had the Italian sausage lasagna and I had the 1/2 sandwich & soup. The chicken salad and creamy tomato basil soup were wonderful & very fresh.
Perfect restaurant while coming here from Florida to visit my old Kentucky home, and made me miss it here. Everything about it gave me the loving Kentucky southern hospitality vibes. The staff was friendly and every single plate was delicious. I did not expect that. I want to eat here every single time I visit Kentucky. ♥️♥️♥️
I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and good staff. Might call ahead on weekend to ensure available tables and dont dress too shabby! Beautiful old house.
Found the bell house by accident and we are so glad we did. Stopped in town to pick up derby pie and find the bell house because they have hot browns on the menu. Beautiful historic home and the staff were awesome. Made for a perfect lunch on a day with a very long drive.
I had half a Chicken Salad sandwich, bowl of corn chowder and a cup of fresh fruit, and then dessert 🥪🥣🍓🫐
Warm atmosphere and kind servers. The owner (I thinkand host swung by our table to greet and welcome us. Food was delicious and the ambiance pleasant. I had the Hot Brown (worth the caloriesand my partner had the Tuscan grilled veggie Flatbread which was tasty. Would go again if I was ever in town again.
Good food, good service, hot brown, and lasagna, and the chicken salad are so good! The older house has great character!
Small, quaint restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Not a huge menu but everything is very good. Try the hot brown!
Hands down this is my favorite place to take visitors! The quality in their food is amazing and the decor and atmosphere is so charming! They will offer specials that change frequently, but my favorite menu options are the goat cheese salad, fried green tomatoes, and their potato salad!
Great service, always. Amazing food, always. we love the Asagio Turkey Flat with southern grape salad.
I hosted an impromptu business dinner. The service, food, atmosphere were all fantastic. We had prime rib, lasagna, salmonAnd of course desertALL were delicious.
Delicious homemade lasagna. Recommend the bruschetta and red wine - blackberry and plum blend. Quaint decor in a historic home converted to restaurant.
The Bell House restaurant absolutely lived up to the hype. My wife and I were eager to give it a try after such amazing reviews. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, that wonderful Kentucky southern hospitality you come to expect from small businesses. The building itself is a marvel of historical architecture. Built in 1902, it still stands strong and beautiful in historic downtown Shelbyville. The food and drinks at Bell House are among the best my wife and I have experienced in all of Shelbyville. Nearly everything is home made using the freshest of fine ingredients. We enjoyed fried green tomatoes, homemade cream of asparagus soup, salad, homemade quiche, and the freshest BLT that puts all major deli restaurants to shame. We sipped on some amazing loose leaf teas and found that they even offer a tea time once a month for a flat fee, you get unlimited fresh loose leaf teas and appetizers. Wonderful experience that I recommend everyone try at least once to get hooked on. I cant wait to go back!
