Markt 7, 8000 Brugge, Belgium, Middelburg
Medieval bell tower with 366 steps leading to views, plus treasure chamber & 47-belled carillon.
It is the heart of the city center. Worth visiting, however the entrance tickets are quite expensive. Now and then it rings the 47 massive bells and the sound is amazing.
Very beautiful view from the tower and the bewitching ringing of bells.Climbing the stairs is scary, but you should do it - the view from above is indescribable.
Want to check out the best view of Bruges? Not afraid of a few hundred steps? The Belfry is your ticket to a light workout and spectacular vista over this medieval gem of a town. Be sure to get a discount card from your hotel and you can visit everything here for €28pp
Definitely worth going all the way up there! We went on a weekday so there was barely any wait. The ticket was 14 euros. We heard it could be crowded over the weekend so plan accordingly. Lots of stairs, just take your time. People are generally nice and wait for others to pass by the other direction so it wasnt really dramatic as the stairs became narrow. The tower still has its authentic feel, how its built and youll get a piece of this history in the tower. The wind is strong when you reach the top and the view is lovely. Go up!
Large belltower located at the main square of Bruges. It is classified as an UNESCO heritage site and the top can be accessed by a long stair to admire the view of the city from above. Not to be missed when visiting Bruges.
Amazing looking tower in an amazing looking square. Must see at night and must see the movie In Bruges first.
Brugge is the world heritage city , which is one of the best place in the Belgium . Belfry is the city centre . Which is the beauty of the Brugge . It has huge space in the middle and lot of tourist visit this place . Weekend will be more crowded . Week days will be like less crowded . But if you are in Europe you shouldn’t miss this place for sure .
Great experience, 366 steps:Better to book online, picturesque view of the city and of the 🔔 bells. Took up to 25 min to up, stay there and go down
A UNESCO world heritage site located in the heart of the city. Absolutely stunning as it stands high in the sky. I could not stop admiring it as I stood for a long moment in the market square. Buying the tickets in advance is absolutely recommended. Unfortunately we could not enter inside because of the long waiting time, but the pictures from other visitors look really promising. Will definitely go to the top in our next visit.
Beautiful old bell tower with 366 steps to the top. A must see for any Bruges visitor.
The views from the top are great. If you dont mind walking a lot of stairs and paying 14€ to go up, you should do it.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Good price. Best place to see Bruges. Just remember you need to be reasonably fit as there are a lot of steps and they are very steep (you dont need to be super fit though and there is a rope to hang on to).
The belfry is really nice and I would suggest buy the ticket first. There would be pretty much stairs to climb but the view up there is totally worth it .
Purchase tickets ahead of time and enjoy this amazing experience. Youll have to walk up 366 steps which get narrower the more you walk up, but there are areas to take breaks throughout the way. Youll be rewarded with spectacular views of the whole city!
Must see attraction. What a view! Spectacular. But the queue was awful (at once).Btw, Another time I was almost before the closing time, there were no people.Maybe it will help.
Obvious must see. I hear the stairs are very narrow though...Genuinely, We visited and noticed a sign in the courtyard for Concert 7pm We waited in anticipation of instruments being produced, but instead, beautiful chiming from the Belfry started to sound. It was was a Belfry concert, and it was enchanting. I thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of it, and the quiet in the square. Everyone was taking the time to listen and enjoy. Go, go.
Went on a Sunday evening at 6pm. Enjoyed it. Interesting history and cool to see the bells and internal structure. Its a bit of a climb to the top and the steps are narrow. And only one way and down. But they stagger entry times so its not too crowded. Recommend buying tickets in advance. We bought them online only when we got there and had to wait for the next slot - 30 mins. No big deal but may be longer in the afternoon.
I just came from Paris to visit Bruges, to see the ancient placesThe Belfry of Bruges reminds me somehow with transformers 😃 from the first look you can feel that it will transform r to something giantIt’s magical 🧙♀️I have good memories here with my friend Bandary and KarlIf you will enter the tower prepare yourself for the 366 steps 💪🏽This type of towers used to defend the city from invaders
Exciting climb to the top. Very narrow steps close to the top. Brilliant views of Bruges. Beware of the sound of the bells 😉
Very expensive, we paid 40 euros as a small family, 2 adults. The experience is nice, there are lots of explanations, its Unesco heritage. The view is tampered by the cable fence and the mechanisms. Would not pay the money again. You need to book in advance with them the exact time slot.
Bought the tickets online 10 minutes prior to our arrival. There’s a specific time slot for you, you won’t be let inside before. The stairs are quite the workout. 366 steps with a couple of stops to see some parts of the belfry before reaching the top.The reason for the 5 stars…the view. It’s quite spectacular, an eagle’s view of the entire historic center.Beware of what time you choose. For example, reaching the top at 11:15, you’ll get to hear a not-so-loud ring. However, reaching at 12 will have your ears ringing with the loudest bells.
A lot of stairs but worth it. Some nice views and exhibits on the way up too.Stairs get narrower up towards the top and the stairs get smaller too. Just take your time and you can make it. Stop and see the floors and rest if needed.
Its a beautiful Belfry it does take you back to medieval times, but 14 euros to go up i think its allot.
nice view when u get to the top, 366 stairs from ground floor to the top, not sure if kid or elderly can make it
Bruges is a wonderful experience, small enough to see most in a day trip from Brussels if you are looking for something to do via one hour train. We also took a 30 minute boat tour that was great, remember to tip your guide as most people dont or wont, a little is better than nothing and they appreciate the gesture.
Tickets are not cheap, but quite an experience. And you have to climb 300 some stairs to get to the top (where the bell and carillon are). The gigantic carillon is played every 10~15 minutes, it can be really loud but cool to watch its action if you happen to be there at the time. Also some nice birds view of Bruges from up there.
Phenomenal view from the top, and a really interesting look into historical clockwork. Met a friendly local guide at the top who told me information about all the different landmarks and the history of the city which I hadnt heard from other sources. I would recommend going in the evening, or whenever it is least busy while youre there as it was great to be able to experience it peacefully and not have to awkwardly pass by loads of people on the steps up.€12 is a bit steep but at the same time theres not much like it so worth it in my mind.
Amazing views! A serious amount of steps to get to the top and very narrow but totally worth it. Book in advance using the ticket machine at the bottom of the tower in the archway entrance. Aiming for quieter slots certainly makes the journey up and down the tower easier!
Beautiful tower made in 1220 having 366 stairs to go on the top. Amazing experience to visit and see the whole city from the top.Clock bells are still working.
A very beautiful square around with a view on historic sightseeings and buildings. Especially since “In Brugges” was filmed there. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go on top of the tower, because one has to do online appointment for a specific timeslot in advance, which we didn’t know. Next time we are on our way to Ostende we will definitely stop by again and go on top of the tower. Also, on the square around there good restaurants with excellent Belgian beer and local food
Amazing view at the top! Worth the climb, the price and the loud sound of the bell
Amazing! Simply weird tower that makes you see so much of the beautiful Bruges from above.I only wish I was there in the morning when the bell guy plays the bells, apparently he can play "Dont worry be happy" and Game of Thrones songs. Who knew? Some fascinating stairs, history and very heavy bells, certainly worth visiting if you still have money after eating all and I mean ALL of the chocolate and drinking all the super tasty beers 🍫☕🍺🍻
It is rustic and awesome. There are lots visitors. Better buy your tickets soon to secure your place at your convenience. In addition, while using the machine to buy your tickets just scroll down and check buy otherwise you will be giving up on purchasing the tickets. That said, I enjoyed climbing the 366 steps of the tour. At each level, there is a kind of rest place: view and learn something before moving up. I found that very interesting as I do not need and have to walk up at once the steps. Once, at the top, I appreciated the fact that I spent 14 euros to buy the visit. It was pleasant being in the air and to have another perspective on the city. I Enjoyed.
Wicked expensive, but the history was cool and the views were great. Try to go on the hour, so you can watch the pianist playing the melody ringing out all over the city.
Absolutely worth a visit! Its a bit if climb on the narrow stairs, but definitely worth it. The view from the top is stunning. The stairs are very uneven and its a squish when people need to pass in the other direction, but keep going, you wont be disappointed.I do have to say, it wasnt as high as I expected it to be, but it was still a great view!
Great views and the climb to the top isnt that bad and there are places to stop and see things on the way. Fair price too. We went on Friday afternoon and we didnt have to queue at all.
It was the Best place that ive ever been.I have no words to describe it. You just have to live the experience by your own to understand what does it feels like to be there.
Historic bell tower in the city center of Bruges. There are about 275 steps to the top and the view from up there is worth the climb. You can have a panoramic view of the old city with canals and other churches and towers. If you have time, then I suggest that you book the tickets in advance to watch the sunset, if the weather permits.
Its not easy to climb up to the end. I dont recommend for those people who has heart problems. You can have a time travel. Each floor belongs to another era. Especially these people who has interest to mechanisms will enjoy a lot.
Wonderful views. Worth the climb although a little hair-raising at the top.Amazing clock and bell mechanism like a giant music box. A must see and do if you can manage the stairs. There is a simple to use pre book ticket machine just inside the entrace. We booked and came back for dusk viewing.
Climbing the belfry was an amazing experience. It is not as tiring as I expected, since there are stops along the way up where one can rest. That said, the ticket price (at €14 on my visitwas a little much for a simple access to the steps with no extra features.
Belfry of Bruges is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is really awesome place. Many tour operators are connecting Bruges with Brussels and Amsterdam. It is heard that view from Bellfort is breathtaking sight but unfortunately, they were not allowing visitors to the top of it when I visited. Some time, there will be massive crowd of tourists.
What can I say except when in Bruges! You must visit the Belfry, and you must climb all 366 steps as we did! Almost passed out from the work out! But it was Very worth it! Breathtaking views of the medieval town that is SO well preserved! Belgium is just very Beautiful! Cant wait to see it again someday!
I would say its worth it for a visit but currently that visit costs 14 EUR for an adult. I think its a bit expensive. What you get for your money is 366 steps upwards in a constantly narrowing spiral staircase tunnel and a breathtaking view to the city (see my photos). There are rooms along the way upwards where you can have a rest and get interresting information about the bells of the tower.
Totally worth 14 euro for an entry ticket (which I bought online and did not regret)! The view from the top is simply spectacular, try to get upstairs before the bell rings, to enjoy the view of the city accompanied by the bell. Fascinating!
Bruges is a picturesque town, few hours drive from Brussels, it is also easily accessible by train. This historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are very unique architecture in Bruges that tourists come from all over the world to admire. The town is not very big, there are many cafe and restaurants around and i took a few hours to walk around
Awesome this view from the top.366 Steps are i lttle hike for familys also. There are all the time a few rooms to make a stop. The last 100 steps the place isnt a lot of space to go.
What a fun experience especially with kids. Our kids are 4 & 5 and did the climb by themselves. Make sure to take in the views and wait for the bells to run while you’re up.
Bruges...Bruges...Bruges... my personal experience is stay in Bruges rather than Brussels.its worth staying there...as I see nothing in Brussels to see so much local Attraction. Night life in Bruges is worth watching..dont miss it.
Great views from the square of the tower, even better views if you pay admission to climb to top. I was able to overlook Christmas village, just incredible and made my holiday season. It’s amazing how windy it was as I climbed up, you definitely feel the history as you ascend!
