Prospekte Pobeditelei 8, Minsk, Belarus, Horad Zhodzina
Established in 1944, this World War II museum features 24 exhibit halls in an iconic building.
Dramatic but at the same time cool museum to visit. Such a must for kids and the young. Photos and videos are allowed though no one speaks English or even smiles a bit 🤔not very helpful staff
I like the DP-28 gun😅, amazing collection from ww2
Definitely worth a visit and Definitely much better and much more interactive than the old one.
It is beautiful place and every one come to Minsk should go to this place , but there is one problem that all Identification panels in Russian language , they should add the English language for the visitor that came from another country
World class WWII museum. It obviously focuses on Belarus and the Eastern Front but it ties it in very well to the whole of the war. The narrative structure of the exhibits is as good as any museum Ive been to, walking through the beginning of the war to the end. The huge number of artifacts they have are very well presented with audio guides and English labels for almost everything. It should be your first stop on Minsk and if youre a WWII buff, its worth the trip to Belarus just to see it. I spent two hours there but could have spent a whole day if I listened to all the audio guides. Truly a fantastic museum.
Great and very impressive museum of WW2. Displays a lot of sculptures, weapons and equipment.
Dramatic Place could spend hours and hours and hours going through such tremendously detailed information. Well were seeing once or going back many times.
I highly recommend everyone to go here , I learned some new things that the Americans left out of the history books.
My love brought me here in my visit to Minsk, Belarus and it really opened my eyes that no matter if we are American or Belarusian we all honor our heroes, soldiers, citizens and will fight for what we believe in! Humanity is a gift and we need to cherish it more often and not focus on hate and our differences!
Amazing museum, one of the best, i have visited. if you travel to Minsk you must visit it
By all means impressive. A beautiful building with such a heavy story inside. I spend around 2 hours learning about the 2nd world war atrocities in Belarus and Minsk. The museum is a must and you will leave with a renew sense of hope and positivity.
Magnificent museum. Large amount of athentic weapons from WWII.
Magnificent museum. I have never been in a so realistic place. The war in front of tour eyes. Dont miss it in any way.
A fantastic museum in a brilliant setting. Very informative and a huge amount to see, from full size planes and tanks to a wide array of guns on display, medals and other assorted items. Id recommend planning for a bare minimum of 2 hours as a visit to take it all in.
Very good organised museum. Staff were invisible but when you need them very close, easy to get and helpful. You can come without guide.. In museum you get small electronic device with well organized audio guides for every part of museum on few languages..
Actually a really cool museum in Minsk. There is a giant plane outside the museum but the inside is actually full of information and exhibits. Really worth seeing and be occupied for around 1-2 hours.
Really amazing museum, probably the best I visited about WWII. Fantastic and informative, many ineractive tv panels.
"Feel Good" museum to celebrate the Soviet win over Nazi Germany. Great planning and very well built, but what stood out was that there was NO mention of the 800,000 Jews that were simply wiped out in Belarus. Zero responsibility...
Interesting museum about the history of world war 2 starting from 1941. Fair amount of military weapons, tanks, trucks, interesting history finishing with the victory. Lots of memorabilia and war stories. Cost of entrance and audioguide 14 Rubles (about 7 euro).
It’s a cool museum and not expensive at all.
Interest place of history of ww2. I reccomend to all if you visite Minsk. Museum is huge. Its little bit propaganda but is very nice and complex.
Wonderful museum; nicely laid out in chronological order. Full of personal artifacts that show individual contributions and sacrifice. Unique opportunity to get very close to equipment that you only see on film or photos. This is a must see for anyone interested in WW2 history.
Of course, the whole exhibition is viewed from the perspective of the heroism of the Belarusian people and the unspeakable suffering the war brought to this part of what used to be the Soviet Union. You may not agree with the clear-cut division along the lines of "we were all good / they were all bad", as rarely does such a division exist in reality. It has to said, however, that with its halls, 135 audio-guide soundbites, and hundreds of exhibits, the museum provides you with a wealth of information that will put the toughest to the test.
If somehow you come to Minsk and looking for a place to visit. You have to visit this museum. There is everything about Red Army and Belarus in World War 2.
In depth display of the grave impact of the Great Patriotic War (WW 2on Belarus. Tanks, weapons, dioramas, photographs, and many items in countless display cases.Unusual in that the collection began in 1942, during the war, which adds to its comprehensive natureYou will leave enlightened if not more than a little sad at the atrocities committed during the war. A must see museum in Minsk.
Many different sort of war equitment and stories of heroes of the USSR. Also english audioguide that was decent
Cool building which features a museum about WW2. For a foreigner there is some English translations but the individual items dont have a translation.
Terrific design to this building stretched over 4 floors. Made to pay homage to the war effort that the Soviets endured against the Nazis in WW2. Loads of interesting artefacts. A great education to everyone who comes here. Could be an idea for Minsk to let go of Moscow now though.
One of the highlights of Belarus - well worth a visit. Some good displays and a nice monument outside
Good museum. Tells you a part of the history of the WorldWar2 through the fate of completely different people from ordinary people and soldiers to generals.
Incredible 2WW museum. Its a must if you come to Minsk. I liked it very much.
A very interesting & detailed exposition. They have a huge collection. And they have English speaking guides.
I really like this place. Perfect to go here with kids! Three languages access ( Russian, English and Germanand wheelchair accessible
One of most incredible museum for WW2 history maniacs.
Truly amazing place so much history and its in english amd Russian tge staff speak both languages too, theres history thats missing from western teaching so its a worthwhile visit to fill in the blanks
I have been to many war museums, and this was a unique experience. To see from the point of view of soldiers and civilians living in those times is humbling. The presentation of this museum is immaculate, and English speaker friendly.
Rating this place is difficult. On the one hand its quite big and filled with objects and replicas (a lot of weaponsfrom the war, displayed skillfully and with comprehensive information in Russian, Belarussian and English. On the other hand there are some big objectivity issues and the facts need to be reevalued and updated. Definitely worth a visit.
One of the best museums for Soviet WW2 awards I have ever been to. The rest is pretty good as well but the awards and storys behind them is the biggest part and well worth visiting just for them.
Must visit place in Minsk. I have been in the war museums in other cities, but this one is best. The expositions are very nicely done with an authentic relic from WWII
Perhaps the best ww2 museum in the world. Better than the one in Moscow 👍
Excellent museum! Very new and modern look that shows WWII in nice detail and from the perspective of the Belarusian people. Also very nice to see the entire! facility wheelchair accessible! Definitely place this on your Minsk itinerary!
Really nice museum next to the park. If you are in Minsk go here.
Great exhibits and war explained from the Belarussian viewpoint. Also includes a hall for Nanking massacre
Feels the atmosphere truly... Afghanistan war section shouldnt be missed as well
It was an awesome experience. Breathtaking structure. Very informative with life like structures depicting the war. The English audio guide is cool even though almost every exhibit was described in English. The surrounding park plus the victory fountain was nice too.
A school parade was on close by, the patriotic music loud and the flags, held by each of the school kids, fluttering in the wind. A lovely backdrop on an excellent museum. The museum is new and expansive that takes the tourist through Belarus in the Second World War. There is everything from dioramas to weapons and even a few tanks. All material is in English and very extensive at that. The addition of an exhibit about “the raping of nanjing”, the Japanese army’s cruelty inflicted on the Japanese was brutal and fascinating.
We did not enter the museum. Just took some picture outside the building. And thats quite interesting.
Number 1 if you visit minsk. Nice new museum of great war. Love history and i mast say its here ...
It’s an amazing place, one who visits Minsk, then should visit this museum, as it is worth for the money and time and you’ll come to know about many things of war.
A great historical place to view for all ages! Saw many cool WWII weapons, there are English explanations for the important elements shown in the exhibitions. Be warned though, it is quite a sad place when you view the photos of WWII, a young kid in the family cried. Otherwise, it is a pleasant, educational experience for everyone
