Excellent food, with lovely wine pairing to go with it. Superb staff with attention to detail. Clearly the chef thinks long and hard about his dishes as these are exceptionally well balanced. The use of local produce is something of an example. Recommended.

A superb experience from beginning to end. The food is creative, delicious and beautifully presented. Colours, tastes and surprising ways of treating the ingredients were delightful. The ambiance is lovely and the service simply amazing and binds to all into a wonderful evening. Thank you especially to Christina, our server, who was knowledgeable and informative about the food, wonderfully flexible and lots of fun.

Outstanding! Casual Fine Dining at its best. Tucked away in a quiet side street in Soho. It offers both a great value set menu but also a la carte options if you are not that hungry. The sourdough bread is the best I have ever eaten. All dishes have a modern twist, are perfectly executed and sourced from local producers. They use Zalto wine glasses and have a great selection of wine by the bottle as well as by the glass. One of the very top restaurants in Hong Kong!

Fine dining scam, with fine dinning bill!!How do you dare to charge 3 slices of tomato for $128???Honestly, none of the dishes we tried are worth their price. To a point that I just felt angry all the way :Beef : excellent product but you managed to overload the dish with way too much dressing and topping.Asparagus were fantastic.Pork : okay, but not memorable either.Starters : too much blablabla in the waitress mouth, but too less results in my mouth for the price that I ve paid.Wine : where is the somelier, and why not give recommendations with the food?I still give 2 stars for the excellent beef, fresh products and cosy setting.Surely the chef doesn t lack of creativity and talent, but I am too tired of this over sophisticated food failing to deliver the essential : happiness, generosity, and genuine taste! Not for me sorry.

I am not normally one to review but I thought I would take the time to express how much I enjoyed the atmosphere, staff and most of all the food at Beet. I visited in November 2019 and loved the menu, I often can be picky with food but everything was so good here I could not have been happier with my choice to visit. Next time I am in Hong Kong I will for sure be heading back to Beet. The bread is amazing here, made in house...I seriously would travel 13 hours back just for that bread.

If you are with your lover or family in the evening, you will be able to enjoy the dish quietly in a good atmosphere. Even though I went with a man... From pre-eating to main dishes and desserts, you can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes at reasonable prices. Especially, I recommend steak and fish dishes with wine. If you are going to Hong Kong, make sure to visit. enjoy!!

The food is inventive and tasty. The portions are relatively small (except for dessertbut the whole experience lasts a couple of hours so youre very full by the end of it. Lots of interesting combinations of local ingredients that I had not tried before. The juice pairings were also very good although by the end of it you may be a little juiced out. It is also very pricey, probably $1200+ per head if you get the extra course, plus juice pairing. Certainly worth experiencing but not sure if I would go back at that price point, but I am glad I went. The service was excellent, good natured and attentive.

My boyfriend and I dined here recently for our anniversary and they printed our names on the menus! It wa such a nice personal touch. We throughly enjoyed the tasting menus and shared the geoduck course. My boyfriend is gluten free and Iā€™m not but they were able to accommodate and the gluten free bread is really good here too. They also gave us a candle with our dessert. Beet made us feel special and really looked after us. Thanks again!

Beet was recently recognised by HK Tattler as one of the best new restaurants in Hong Kong in 2018, prompting us to book a table and give them a try. This is a small place on Kau U Fong Street in Central. Opening hours are 6.30-10pm for dinner only (closed on Sundays). You can make reservations directly through their website or through Chope. We reserved table a little over a week in advance. Seating is simple but tasteful, there is an opened but glassed off kitchen in full view of all the tables.Menu is fixed and very simple with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Diners are served a multi-course meal including a couple of light bites (snacks), salad, two small mains and dessert. Restaurant tries to make as much us of local produce as is possible.Kitchen execution is very good. Of the dishes tried on the evening, we found the tomato mint seaweed soup to be very tasty and the N.T. pork tenderloin to be excellent, about as good a pork dish as weve been served in quite some time. A side option of scallops was also delicious. Overall, we found ingredients for all dishes to be fresh and very well prepared. In short, we enjoyed everything served on the evening.Service was very polite throughout our meal but in need of some refinement. For example, we were served cocktails and bottle of wine at the same time instead of letting us enjoy our pre-meal drinks before moving on to our bottle of wine. This was further complicated by the problems with the first bottle, which had to be sent back. Second bottle was just fine. A side-note that our cocktails were ok, nothing special nor bad.Related, we found the head waiter rather chatty and eager to talk, even as courses arrived and sat on our table waiting for us to enjoy. He also circled by our table too frequently, sometimes every couple of minutes to see if we had finished so the next course could be brought to our table. This made parts of the meal feel quite rushed at times, when we really wanted to just enjoy the very good dishes being served. In the end, we really liked the dishes being created at Peel but felt the service could use some fine-tuning, which would result in better overall meal experiences here. This is something we hope this restaurant can achieve as it has the potential to be a great venue for dining out here in Hong Kong.

Chef Barry cut his teeth at Robuchon Singapore before venturing into smaller shops in Belgium and England. Despite his classical culinary training, there is no shortage of experimentation among his dishes. For example, the fermented tomato water was a pleasant surprise, where the acidity and freshness make an ideal starter. His focus on using a variety of vegetables and local produce is also respectable - especially in the fine-dining scene of Hong Kong, where expectation is high and the easy way out is to add truffle and uni to everything. The dishes here give an air of honesty and focus back on the basics. Is this a restaurant where every dish is a home run? Not quite so (although the homemade sourdough was indeed impressive). But it is the attitude of a down-to-earth team which tries to push the boundaries that would make us come back for a second, and more, visit.P.S. prix-fixe menu (vegetarian or normal); around 800 per pax

The overall experience and food was below par, especially when in anticipation from these high reviews. We tried every single dish on the tasting menu and what was not, we ordered a la carte. The tomato and seaweed starter was far too salty and left a terrible taste in my mouth and so was the amuse-bouchƩe. The waiting staff did not ever ask how the food was and our plates were infrequently replaced. The main dishes: the halibut, the New Territories potato and the New Territories pork belly were far better. Nevertheless, they were nothing to write home about. The famous pork belly was also far too chewy and the meat quite tough. The halibut and the potato mains were good but in considering the price and the standards of the competing restaurants in the area, Beets is far less worth your time, money and -most importantly- stomach space. This was truly disappointing as I was so excited to try this highly acclaimed novelty but was left severely underwhelmed mostly by the lack of enthusiasm on part of the waiting staff and also by the taste of the food.

Chef trained at Joel Robuchon in Singapore and then in London with the Portland Restaurant on Great Portland Street. Great farm to table concept that really showcases what farms in HK are capable of supplying with a chef who has been very thoughtful about cooking in a manner that really showcases the freshness of the produce and ingredients, there is no grandiosity of sauces or esoteric twists where the ego of the chef overshadows the food...nothing was disappointing. This isnā€™t about fancy fine dining - there is nothing stuffy or pretentious about this restaurant, itā€™s about eating well

Everything was amazing including the service and vibeThe only thing is I had two underwhelming main dishesFor the price we paid, its alright. But for a fine dining place, the plating of the two mains is pretty much what Id do recreationally.

Originally tried this as it showed up in the SCMP article about the best vegetarian food in HK, but was pleasantly surprised to find the menu showed equal precedence to vegetarian and omnivore tastes, I could get a full tasting menu and my wife, who is not a vegetarian, could have the meat and seafood tasting menu. Was even more pleasantly surprised when the food arrived, fantastic dishes one and all, the veggie options all had an unexpected and welcome depth of flavour - chef obviously understands the need to up the umami content for veggie dishes. Speaking of the chef, we did a quick Google between courses and found amongst other credits, hes worked at Attica in Melbourne - rated best restaurant in Oz several years running. The food quality, originality and service are fine dining quality in a much more relaxed setting. Highly, highly recommended. On top of that, when we got a bit lost on the way to the restaurant, a very nice young man ran round the corner to rescue us!

The bread and the Brussel sprouts were def my favourite. The chicken ( not pictured here was delish - I wish I got that instead of the ravioli. Iā€™m not super stoked on ā€œ sauces ā€œ and thought the ravioli was just a bit too heavy for me. The daily fish was also delish ( also not pictured here - crispy skin, cooked perfectly. The bread - get the bread ! Came to our table nice and warm, butter melted right on top. Pass on the ice cream , but Iā€™m not a super ice cream fan to begin with. Easy to make a reservation ! I know I mentioned the bread twice in this post, must have really made an impression x

A small restaurant in the quiet corner of Central. The owner changed the place from previous French bistro to Beet, I would call it a modern English cuisine. Simple and delicious food, the namesake beet root is amazing but also bread and butter both are made in the restaurant. Pork belly with Apple source is another surprise, very fatty dish but has been very well balanced.

We only stayed a couple nights in Hong Kong and have had some pretty good food but our meal at Beet was by far the best meal that we have had. My favorites were 1the hamachi with kefir cream, caviar, and peaches, and 2the maitake mushrooms with walnut emulsion, hollandaise, and autumn truffle. Overall, the meal was full of flavour and I definitely recommend eating here.
