The Hope & Ruin, 11-12 Queens Rd, Brighton BN1 3WA, P'ot'i
A menu featuring vegan doners, hot dogs, loaded fries & drinks in a playful, kitschy setting.
Reasonably priced vegan food in the middle of the city.
The kebab was really tasty, perfect texture for the meat and delicious sauces. However I have one major gripe - dont skimp on the salad! There was only a small amount of salad (no lettuceburied under a mountain of meat - I would have preferred lettuce, both cabbages, pickled chillies, loads of cucumber and tomato but only got a couple bits of each. Otherwise delicious and would definitely be back
the food was very disappointing, good idea in theory but the flavours were not complementary to each other. the only good thing was the norm hotdog that was delicious.
Really nice vegan hot dogs. The cheese and onion rings were delicious too. Buff vvings could be better cooked but the spices were perfect. Well be back :)
Felt like I was intentionally ignored when waiting to order. I queued to order behind one other, when it was my turn to order the bar staff did not take my order and left me standing there waiting for over 10 minutes while there were no other customers to serve and the place was fairly quiet as a whole. I gave up and a friend managed to find someone who was clearing tables to take our order.Although quick, the food was disappointing. I had the signature Beezlebab kebab, it had a lot of “meat” and red cabbage” but little else, leaving it somewhat bland. The sauce that it did have was watery enough to make the pitta soggy.I imagine this place could be 4* on a good day if you order the right thing, But overall my experience was disappointing.
I had the kebab and it was RIDICULOUS. So delicious. Dont hesitate to go here its amazing. I would like if the kebab had a little more sauce layered throughout not just on top but honestly that is a tiny criticism to what was an otherwise amazing meal. Staff are very friendly and efficient, in a great spot and very cool, chill decor and environment. Cant recommend more.
Someone made a deal with the devil. The vegan wings here are the best Ive had. The vegan kebab? Real close to the real thing, and none of the grease meat would leave you with. Drinks and desserts? Tasty as can be. The Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock soda is one of my favorites. The vegan ice cream is local and tasty. If youre in Brighton and vegan or vegetarian, this is the best youre gonna find and its well worth the stop.
Lovely vegan menu!
Great pub music orientated a live venue upstairs friendly reception and staff definitely 5 out of 5
This pub has a great relaxed atmosphere. The vegan options are plentiful. If you want to introduce someone to vegan pub grub, this is a great spot. Great service and nice people.
The food was really good (for 2 non vegansso good I ate the paper that came with it. Vibes very cool.
Vegan restaurant, first time ever visiting vegan place. Kebab was lil spicy, but the vegan meat was suprisingly good!! kinda shocked.. Guiness draft is a must drink :P
Love these vegan hot dogs and all the trimmings including seitan, monthly specials too. Consistently good, we Consistently eat there when in town!
Amazing vegan hot dogs and super fast service.
Always a pleasure going to the Hope and Ruin and getting a little beelzebab goodness. Heavily recommend the Naughty little lads, deep fried olives you cant go wrong!
I wanted to like it but ultimately it was vile. The fake sausages/seitan meat were so synthetic. My sister and I felt horrendous afterwards. My sister said she wanted to throw up just to get it out of her stomach. Disgusting!!!
Have been here twice when visiting Brighton and would 100% recommend. Very tasty food!
Vegan fast food done right. Been several times, always a steady menu of classics and a few seasonal specials. Great range for pub food. Often hear friends comment they didnt realise the Currywurst is vegan. Seitan can get a lot of flak but these guys do it really well. Highly recommend the seitan donner.
Good vegan grub, original things to try not just the same old vegan burger and fries. In a great setting too, really loved the vibe of the Hope & Ruin!
Hope and Ruin still offering quality vegan junk food (my number 1 is their delicious vegan chilli, chips n vegan cheese 😋🤤😋🤤). Loads of vegan options available though and all their booze is vegan too. Great atmosphere for chats downstairs, with bands upstairs. One of my fave hangouts 😍 Oh, and ask Luke the chef if you want the chilli extra hot 🔥🥵
Cool interior, friendly staff and all veggie/vegan. Five stars! 😎
Youre probably searching through all the best vegan places in Brighton for somewhere to eat right now - you can stop your search, youve found your place. I cannot tell you how delicious the Dirty Kraut dog and Hoisin Wngs were. Genuinely, it was the best vegan food Ive ever eaten. My meat-eater boyfriend agreed that the food was delicious and commented that he would have never known the hotdog was vegan (especially the cheese!). The staff were all lovely and made us feel safe and welcome. I 666% recommend Beelzebab!
Best vegan food ever. my favourite new place to go.
Im not a vegan, but I LOVE THE FOOD HERE. Chilli cheese fries and the currywurst are my favourite. Even meat eaters will love the food. An absolute must for those local to and just visiting Brighton.
Food was OK, not bad but not particularly good either - certainly average when considering Brighton is absolutely sodden with vegan offerings. Service was aloof, kinda felt like we were crashing a friends party- totally understand bar and waiting staff being friendly with one another (especially in these timesbut it shouldnt feel at the expense of customer service you know? Maybe a little more professionalism wouldnt kill yall.
Great vegan junk food, great staff and lots of character. They sell cool ts too.
Really great food, cant even tell its vegan, and tonnes of exciting options for chips.
Always lovely food in the Hope and Ruin, great atmosphere this evening and really friendly staff. Beelzebub was particularly good, but the loaded fries are ace too. Online ordering process was great, and allows you to customise your food. No charge for soda water too which is a bonus!
Super duper friendly staff, very good food with substantial portions, easily located and has a nice airy vibe. Food came in good time a long with the drinks. The digital menu was a bit fiddly even on a new iPhone which was a little annoying but otherwise everything else was great! Will be back next time I’m in B town
Proper junk food and some things really hit the spot like the deep fried Brussels sprouts (omg YESbut other things were a bit claggy or strange flavour combinations (cauliflower cheese and parsnip kimchi hot dog..). Overall really nice experience but reckon if the menu was reduced to focus more on show stopping dishes that would really work.
Cool concept; the doner sandwich was a little heavy on the chili sauce, and the gluten "meat" was a bit dense for my taste. I like the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. The vegan tzatziki was very nice-- made from soy yogurt.
This place was a great chance encounter. Out with my partner looking for food and we saw this place offering vegan kebabs. The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing. Their interior decor was really different and interesting to look at. I hear they have live music occasionally too but unfortunately wasnt able to catch that!
Great place, awesome food, generous portions. Loaded fries (any kindand the poppers are a must try.
I want to love it so much, but bad experiences have let it down for me.The food and drinks are great, all vegan and delicious based on what Ive tried.Seems to be the staff that let it down though - had a wrong order on one visit, replaced with another wrong order! Next visit the server was rushing around and carelessly spilled the food into my lap. No attempt to resolve apart from a half-hearted apology...
Tasty quick vegan dogs and draft craft beer! Relaxed environment!
Love the Beelzebab! And Beelzebab loves me! Great hotdogs, kebabs and loaded fries. Just tried the Blueberry, Maple, Seitan Bacon Brownie
Great place with famous vegan food. The staff is helpful and kind
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, incredible food. This is some of the best vegan fast food Ive ever tasted, some of best fast food overall Ive ever tasted too. Couldnt fault it, will definitely be returning here.
If I lived in Brighton Id be here all the time and Im not even a vegetarian. Delicious food. Great atmosphere.
Delicious food, not so small list of options, and you could find here vegan NOT spicy food, which is really rare. Atmospheric place and very welcoming staff.
All vegan, bit hipster, very colourful. Beelzebab is, I hope, a Vegan Brighton Institution by now. A great range of beer and always the delicious Seacider on tap. Vegan junk food is good, but pancake Day here is the best. Off the normal menu, Im personally not a big fan of the hotdogs, and thats a "my mouth doesnt like the texture" thing. However, the loaded fries and kebabs are amazing. Pudding is ways super too. This is one of my fav places to bring an omni friend to surprise them how ace vegan junk food can be. Service is usually good, although, of course, a little slower when busy. Its a popular place, so dont be surprised if you cant get a seat on a Saturday evening.
Amazing place! Cool, quirky atmosphere, random decor everywhere. Staff are friendly and profesh. Its an experience as much as a place to go grab vegan pulled pork fries. Recommend to everyone!
Do not ever hesitate to eat at this place. It was the best vegan cheesy fries Ive ever had. Large servings for a decent price too. We entered the place all in good mood and looking forward to having a nice meal, but was unfortunately met by uninterested bar staff. They seemed to be bored. Kinda didnt expect that from Beezlebab. The two people in the kitchen made amazing food though and gave us a few smiles!Dont miss out on the food guys! But a tip is to move on to another place for drinks.
Amazing vegan food! The hot dogs are to die for!
Great bar this one. Really good chilled vibe, stickers on the wall - always a good touch. They offer a great vegan menu with lots of selection, many new dishes I hadnt seen before. It was fairly quiet as we stopped by early doors. Only had time for some Chickn Poppers with their special sauce which was very good, it fooled my heathen friends who kept coming back for more.
Amazing vegan food, everything on the menu is brilliant. So nice to see such a variety of vegan food but a shame its limited to places like Brighton and London...(for now at least would recommend anything with the donner meet on it as its so tasty!
Very edgy pub with great vegan food, plenty of seating and awesome atmosphere.
Doners were not good, but the atmosphere is cool and a good collection of beers
Best vegan junk food Ive ever had 😁
Ducked in here to get out of the rain and was so pleased with what we found. Being an American on tour in the U.K. I was so happy to find IPAs on tap and fried pickles! The place itself is quirky and a great spot to hang out with a pint and enjoy some vegan bar food.
