2331 E Evergreen Dr, Appleton, WI 54913, United States, Appleton
Casual, cozy tavern offering classic British & American pub grub, draft beers & happy hour.
(This review is from some time ago. I am just posting it now.Service was great. The food was horrible. Everything looked and tasted like it was processed and came out of a bag. The mashed potatoes I had were instant and the gravy was out of a can. The chicken breast was pre frozen and par cooked, and the vegetables were microwaved. Nothing was made fresh and the food had zero quality. I am sure they will say its all made fresh and from scratch, but anyone with a palate can tell the difference between fresh mashed potatoes and instant mashed potatoes, gravy that comes out of a can, meat that was frozen and par cooked, and vegetables that were not steamed. They are not fooling me.
Drinks were just OK. The old fashioned tasted good, but seemed like it came from a dispenser instead of being made by a human. Food was good, but entree came after I had taken about 1½ bites out of my salad.
What a waste of potential and a great idea. Setting is smashing, great pub feel at barOk beer selection. But terrible terrible food! Who ever came up with the menus idea and thought they were being clever should never work in food again unless it’s taking out the trash, which this food is. Why insult classic British dishes, such as Bangers and Mash, by Frankensteining with them. Why did they think Cajun fare would work well with it? Why take such simple ideas and fail so hard at them?? I wish someone could buy this place out and redeem it with better food and ale
The best London broil I have eaten in years. Tender and juicy served perfectly cooked.Oh. And scones.Did I mention those little bites of heaven lurking in the bread basket? I asked for an extra one for dessert because they are that good!Cheerful atmosphere that reminded me of pubs in England, great service and a nicely varied menu. Definitely on my "repeat business" list next time I am in NW Appleton.
The food was excellent and the service was decent except that we had to hunt through an empty restaurant to find someone to seat us. I know we were ahead of the dinner crowd but it was still pretty ridiculous. Also, for a place calling themselves a British ale house they had a pretty limited selection of British beers.
Atmosphere was great. Food was exceptional. I had the buffalo chicken salad and would have it again. Was here for lunch. Would try for dinner another time.
We had the absolute worst service on a Monday night when we were the only people there.1st ,one person was given the wrong food and they didnt offer to get a fresh plate for the person food it was nor did they take it off the bill.2nd,we had to actually go in the kitchen to find our server to replenish drinks & get food for a person who came in late .3rd,I walked out the front door & forgot my leftovers...tryed getting back in ,pounded on the dood for 5 min. ...no one ever came so unfortunately I had to leave my leftovers.Time was 8:15 pm.I will NOT recommend nor go here again!
Food wasnt bad. I was part of a group of 20 plus people so I understand my steak might have sat for a couple of minutes before being brought to me. Dessert was phenomenal. Only real downside was our waiter came and told us to leave at 9. I was surprised they closed so early. I might eat here again for an event, but I doubt I would come here with just my wife. Next time a large group sets a reservation, make sure they know what time you close.
Our first time at Beefeaters. We were warmly greeted upon entry and escorted to our table. Waiter arrived with menus and drinks were ordered.Drinks arrived with warm rolls and scones. The waiter took our order. Salads arrived a few minutes later and our entrees followed about 20 minutes later. The food was delicious, large portions and service was excellent. All at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend Beefeaters to friends and family.
Older gentleman sat us, he was very nice! Our waitress was obviously inexperienced and very un sure of herself. I ordered the Beefeater cheeseburger and made sure to tell our waitress TWICE, NO ONOINS! My burger came with onions and she said she would tell the kitchen, that was it. My wife ordered the fish and chips, neither was very good. Her meal came with a salad, she asked for ranch dressing, she never got her salad. Couldnt have been a much worse experience.
The food good. Service bad. "Henry" forgot drinks and didnt know what all comes with the meal, the change was incorrect. A $71.00 food bill was paid with $100.00. he first asked do you need change for that? Really? Then gave $21. 25 as change for food bill. When called him on it. He pulled the balance out of his personal wallet. Which, makes me question how many people this happens to. And how much does "Henery " skims in a working day?
Waitress was nice but the food not so great. They have 4 star prices for 1.5 star food. The potatoes were not even home made. They did get are order wrong as well. But not that big of deal. I didnt care for the beer selection as well. But mainly disappointed with the food quality
I come here often when I am in town. Corey and Sarah are always professional and friendly when they are bartending. They really have a good happy hour food selection, which is free. They seem to rotate the beers on tap often. Corey seems to be very knowledgeable about beer. I have only eaten in the restaurant once. It was good but I wouldnt rave about the food.
Ordered the chicken tortellini tonight off of doordash (staying a local hotel). The tortellini was super delicious, however the chicken was awful. I am not sure how it was prepared but it tastes like it was cooked on a bed of salt. It was too salty to eat and ultimately had to pick all the chicken out and discard it. Wish I saved a few bucks and ordered the regular tortellini.
Fish had excellent flavor and perfect seasoning. Cranberry scones with honey butter also a "cheeky" start with a nod to Britain. Not exactly British food but good nevertheless. Good job!
Went here a year ago and wasnt impressed so thought wed give it another try. Now I know why we were the only people in the restaurant. Ordered the sausage and peppers penne and it was the most disgusting rendition of pasta Ive ever seen or tasted. Picture says it all...this is Alfredo sauce?!? Hard to believe this place any relation to good company
Excellent choice for our whole soccer team! We were seated and served with no fuss at a moments notice. Food was very, very good. Great service! We will definitely go again.
Was very unsatisfied with the food! My friends and I ordered food and were several of us were unsatisfied with the food. The soup was very bland, fries were soggy and the burger (cajan avacodo burgermeat was bland far to much going on with burger the cheese overwhelmed the whole burger. Friend order a roast beef sandwich the meat was also extremely bland!! Service was amazing!! Hopefully you can figure out whats going on in the kitchen!
Food was wonderful. I had the Sheppards pie and thought it was great. My wife had a pasta and loved it. The rest of the party had a burger on Texas toast and they all loved it. Definitely a place to try if in the area. Decor is really awesome. Lots of Beatles memorabilia on the walls which adds awesome character to the already beautiful building. Bar is also very nice with a good amount of craft beer options.
We stopped by during one of the hours thats typically slower in food service, so around 2pm; the place was practically empty save for a few stragglers at the bar. This was fine, except for when our food took perhaps half an hour to arrive. None of us were wildly impressed with the food, either: the "kettle" chips were soft, the Thai chicken sandwich came with a bun saturated with sauce, and portions of our meals were already lukewarm. I dont like leaving bad reviews, but honestly, we wont be returning to Beefeaters.
So my two friends and I had just finished the April Fools 5k run and wanted to get a beverage and a appetizer to share in celebration, so we decided to stop. When walking in the tables were dirty and were not wiped in the bar area so we decided to go sit at the actual bar. The bartender was extremely rude. She never had an actual conversation with us, threw down menus when we asked to look at them, had to ask twice to get water with our appetizer, had to ask for plates. I felt as if we were bothering her. She either was having a bad day or just didnt care. It was my first time here, the food was good and you received plenty of it, and my Margarita was ok. Little salt and no lime garnish. Not sure Ill be back.
The staff and food were awesome!
Very cozy place . Ordered some bacon cheddar potatoe skins and man watch out these things are huge and amazing !! For the main meal I had an 8oz tenderloin (medium welland theres no words for how amazing this thing was . It melted in my mouth !!! Hands down, the best steak I have ever had !!! Thank you to the staff and chefs on staff today !!! Recommend everyone tries this place !! Very fair priced and you wont leave hungry !!
Food and atmosphere are amazing! Went there with my brother and a 10 dollar off a 30 dollar order coupon planning on getting it as close to $30 as we could. Instead, we spent probably a little over 2 hours there and close to an $80 check. The waitress, Brooke, was also very good. She had some good recommendations that we both enjoyed for food AND brews. Very impressed all around with this place.
Well the food was underwhelming to say the least. The fish was overcooked and chewy. The waffle fries were also chewy. Everything tasted as though it were cooked the previous day and then microwaved before serving. The Shepards pie looked like dog food. It was basically ground beef with some instant potatoes slapped on top. But the server was friendly. Plus as a bonus, my two young children were treated to an after dinner show in the parking lot where pleasures of the flesh were on full display for all to see.
We were here for a work Christmas party. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The waitress did an awesome job of accommodating our large group and promptly bringing drinks and water. The food was ok. I really enjoyed my mashed potatoes they had great flavor but were cold when they arrived and the tenderloin was only ok. The mixed drinks were made well and the private room was very nice with a fireplace and Christmas tree.
Its been nearly a decade since I was last here and it was all just as I remembered. From the rolls and scones, to the Friday all-you-can-eat crabby haddock and the super awesome staff. It was great! This maybe our Friday night spot from now on now that we have moved back to the area.
Party of 8-10. Bread for appetizer was best part (it was very good). No one enjoyed their soup, (It was pushed to the side by 2 of 3 in the partywhile my salad was ok. Main dishes were poor to bland/average. My pasta and chicken was bland. Chicken was chewy and had no flavor. Someone’s fish was cold. Server was friendly, but food was sub par. Only in town for special event, but we would not recommend this place.
I had the smothered mushroom chicken and it was extremely delicious!! Very large portion, I could only eat half! The mashed potatoes were buttery and flavorful. And the grilled chicken had a nice grilled flavor
Welcoming atmosphere and great staff. But the food could of been better. New York strip was very tough, cooked under my liking and lettuce from saled was redesh brown. Manager on duty was friendly and apologized for mistakes (gave discount).
The service was so great! I got the fruit cup with my burger and it was so yummy! They have a gluten free bun option on burgers, which is nice! The mushroom and Swiss burger was delicious! Very nice owners!
We usually get our food to be picked up and have ordered consistently every couple of weeks for the past few months. I usually get the Turkey avocado wrap with the mayo on the side. When I first started getting it it was really good but the past couple times a simple wrap has gone downhill considerably as well as consistency. Last time they forgot the mayo (not a huge deal but stilland this time they almost forgot the mayo again (my husband had to remindbut I didnt even get avocado in my wrap and they put the wrap on the grill and burned the bottom of it. My husband usually switches what he gets but they even forgot the cheese curds as his side last time, it was a sandwich and curds. Not sure how hard it is to remember to add the curds to the box. As much as enjoy Beefeaters and the food I think we might have to start looking for somewhere else until consistency returns.
Food was good. Waiter was visably still drunk from night before( and smelled like a homeless wino). Took forever to get service, and he spilled a full beverage all over( including on meand just kicked ice toward wall- didnt say a word. He delivered a bowl of French onion soup to the table with more on the plate than in the bowl. Had go track down a second waiter/host in different room( by the barto get the scones we had asked for three times. Our waiter brought to the table and said he forgot to put order in.We had 8 people at our table on Sunday early afternoon with reservations. There were possibly 4 other tables in the whole place with people.( Not a busy day).So very disappointing for Mothers Day. We had three Moms in our group- not one " Happy Mothers Day" was uttered from either of the two staff we saw. Just cant stress enough how poor the service was.
Absolutely horrible food. No exaggeration. Ive been there a few times because the hotel I stay at is next door and its convenient. However I have never had a good meal there. Also they crank loud rock music through the entire restaurant. In the bar area during a sporting event, they have the TV speakers off and they continue to play loud rock music. I grew up in the seventies Im a big fan of rock however when Im sitting down to eat or Im in a bar watching sporting event ( like the NBA finalsI sure would like to listen to the actual sporting event and not blaring music in my face.
I recently was here for a business meeting with a meal. While the bar area is busy, the noise overflows into the meeting room that doesnt have any partition or doors to separate it.My meal came Luke warm and because it took so long for the entire group to receive their food I felt it better to eat it rather than to risk sending it back...One of our guests ordered to go and his food came as the group were almost completely finished eating. Not a location that I would recommend for this type of function.
Our food was not as good as the prices were high. The burgers werent anything fabulous and I honestly didnt think they were worth what we paid for them. My daughter found a few hairs in her pasta too. I dont care to go back but my daughter has a few times. She does really like the pasta.
I always order the shepherds pie, today i ordered it to go with the meatloaf for my husband. When i got home, much to my dismay, i had a very small serving and the potatoes werent dolloped on top in the decorative way they normally do. It still tasted fine, however the meat had a lot of chunks. Very disappointing, guess i will never get it to go again.
Went here for the first time a few days ago. They have seasoned waffle fries as their standard French fries, which are delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable and enjoyable. The menu has a lot of variety. It is also owned by the same people who own good company and Pullmans.
This place is amazing. Such a cool welcoming vibe all around. Lots old wood, lots of low mood lighting, the staff was super friendly, and the food was killer! This will definitely be a repeat place for us. Thanks for a great dinner!
Three of us arrived for lunch at 11:30 a.m. And were greeted by the server and seated. It was after 11:50 a.m. before we first saw our server. there were maybe five other tables busy. Food was okay, price was above average.
Best fish ever! Potatoe soup is so good as well. The fish wasnt what I ordered, they remade it, manager came out and apologized and said it was on them. They went above and beyond and they didnt need to. :we still would have been back. :)
Friendly staff. The drinks were great with some creative names (the snozzberries tasted like snozzberries!). The food was great. The pricing was about what you would expect for a casual place. Very happy, would go back in a heart beat.
Place is empty, you get seated right next to the only other guests. I think they struggle getting business. I ordered a chicken walnut salad and discovered at some point that there were no walnuts. The waitress didnt arrive back at our table until I was nearly done making the best of my meal. I let her know I had missed my walnuts and she was like, "oh". And didnt do or suggest anything to correct the issue.
Nice restaurant and bar! They have a serviceable rotation of craft beers and good menu. We really like the Shepards pie. Its also awesome when the bar manager recognizes you. Unfortunately we stopped going as often when they moved the happy hour appetizers back an hour. I understand its a business decision and thats cool with me. But that was the best, free apps drew us in and then we bought beers and dinner. We still try to make it in once every 2-3 months unless we can cut out of work earlier to make it in sooner for happy hour.
We have always loved going to Beefeaters....loved the atmosphere, the food, service, etc. but no longer will be going back. While eating tonight, I noticed that on the last bite of a chicken tender, my child was eating raw chicken. It was completely pink and uncooked under the layer of batter. We cut into the 2nd chicken tender to discover the same thing. The waitress was apologetic, professional and friendly. However, we should never have to worry that our children are eating something that could be very harmful to them. None of us could finish our meal....just praying now that our child doesnt get sick.
Delightful service. Good food. My friends and I had steaks and drinks. Both were tasty. Nice atmosphere for friends or family. Great time and looking forward to going back and telling others about it.
I dont usually eat in the restaurant area, but booths are roomy and fairly private and not overcrowded. The bar area is nice and the bar itself is beautiful- very old time elegant. Bar tenders are great and the bar manager has really made great improvements. Staff is very personable and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Happy hour offers a small free appetizer buffet and there is always free popcorn and bar nut mix. Happy hour can get extremely busy so be prepared to wait. Staff handles the chaos well, but if youre wanting immediate service or are impatient do not come at this time. Also be ready with your order when your turn comes because there will be quite a few people waiting to order and to keep things moving you may be given some extra time to think. Good selections of beers and drinks, as well as offering a taste from across the pond- both in food and drinks. One of their girls also infuses liquors with different flavors which are definitely a must try! Cheese curds are awesome, and their ranch is a thicker dip. Soups and salads are very good. Desserts are big enough for 2-3 people. My favorites are the Guinness chocolate cake and the peanut butter pie yum yum. Ive never had food here which wasnt good. Theyre open until about 10pm, but may close sooner if overly slow, so call ahead if its after 9 pm. Pub area stays open later than the restaurant as the kitchen closes before the bar. This is a great place to go out with friends or for a date night.
Had the fish and chips with a helping of loaded shepherds mashed. One word...delightful. Service was very good and atmosphere was cool. I wish theyd bring one of these to Sioux Falls, SD
Great formal atmosphere, with a wonderful selection of food and beers. Our server, Sarah, was very polite and was on top of anything we needed. I had the Reuben and my wife had the shepherds pie, both were delicious. We will be stopping in again next time we pass through.
Food was fantastic. I had steak sandwich. Hubby had a steak felt it was too fatty. AUCE fish was great. Burger and kids chicken strips great as well. Desserts delish and very rich. Only bad thing table was a bit sticky I asked for no mushrooms but they came anyway on the steak sandwich. Waitress was good. Checked often and got us everything we needed. Definitely will go back.
