Priory Country Park, Barkers Ln, Bedford MK41 9RQ, Piripiri
Pub-style chain serving up a menu of grilled meats and international favourites such as fajitas.
Worst roast Ive ever had. They were busy and I think chose money over quality and customer service. Terrible food and wont be going back.
Very disappointed raved so much about Beefeater Bedford to my Niece her partner & Baby they stayed in premier inn which they had a lovely room there, had meal deal which let it down. The only problem was the quality of food that was served to us after 3/4 hr wait to get any service kept being looked at by the manager. Was there early enough eventually ordered our Drinks & food to be brought over Overcooked food & Dry .A Beautiful setting like the Marina spoilt by your appalling Food & Service Have more relatives coming next week We will NOT be bringing them to you very Dissapointed .
Good location from one of my preferred restaurant chains…. Reasonable food quality, prices could be lower to be more competitive…. Anyway, special thanks to Joe who looked after us
The food good but they forgot about me. I was ok my own because I work away alot ate here a bit and it was always the same they forget about you. Food and drinks were always late and the staff always apologised but it just a while to order and get my food and drinks. The place wasnt particular busy and I noticed that they also forgot about a couple that where sat in front of me. The tables that had alot of people sat at them seemed to get the service.
Friendly staff but as usual short on some key ingredients to make up the advertised dishes. I’d have thought making up 2 identical burgers would be easy but missing the bacon and cheese from a burger shouldn’t happen.
1 star for the friendly staff. Food was very disappointing. £20 for the surf and turf which was a very sad looking steak, 2 prawns that tasted of bleach, a little bowl of calamari offcuts and about 5 chips
Will never return to this place. Ribs cold no skinny chips and the salmon dry as a bone. Complained about the Ribs so they brought me some fresh microwaved ones. They did take the food off the bill.
They didnt have tbone steak, kitchen got the orders mixed up and gave me a medium rare when I asked for medium well done. Lovely waiter and good promotion at the time meant the meal wasnt that much in the end, hence the 3 stars - otherwise I would have given less
Great bar/Restaurant in an absolutely beautiful setting!! Lovely outdoor seating area with kids play area. Beautiful walks leading straight from the outdoor area to walk off the tasty food 👍😁🥰
Absolutely shocking! booked a table for 12 and they really were not prepared for 12 people. drinks to 30 minutes to arrive and then the food took 1 hour 20 minutes. The food was bland and cold. the waitress apologised for the poor experience but I certainly will not recommend this place to anyone. there were other groups in that night that did not look impressed as well.
Lovely place to sit & have a drink, nice & cool in the warm weather, good sized outdoor area. Could not believe the girl was on her own behind the bar on a busy Sunday lunchtime though, the queue was literally out the door at one time, she was very good at her job.
Just got back from having lunch here. It was the worst meal my partner and I have had out. The chicken in the burger was hard and charcoaled to an inch of its life. The fries were tasteless and as for the house slaw, it was vile and was never home made. Money down the drain (over £30), will not eat here again. Did not want to give any stars but it wont let you post without at least one.
This was an amazing experience ans our main server was great. We felt welcomed and attended throughout the whole meal. The food was absolutely excellent and thebsteak was cooked as requested. Although the prices may be a bit more, we felt we had got what we were paying for. The rest of the staff were very pleasent and the atmosphere was great. We will definatley be back when in the area again!Blue light card accepted.
Really enjoyed our lunch outside by the lake. Samuel the barman was friendly and helpful with drink ideas on such a hot day. Lovely spot , will return soon.
Just popped in for a beer. Very pleasant but only one server on bar duty, do had to queue for five or six minutes as it was lunch time and quite busy. Having said that, the young lady serving was very professional, helpful and cheerful.
Looks nice but staff werent great, firstly had to wait about 10 minutes to get served at the empty bar. The lady that served us clearly hated her job and could even take a joke. Then sat outside which was dirty with glasses left on tables and chairs dusty and dirty. What really ended it for us was being told I needed to wear a top in the garden area due to children which where none existent even though my top was soaked from a 10k run on a very hot day. There is no customer dress code on there sight and I made the point of surely me having no top is not as bad as everyone smoking around kids as everytabke had Ash trays. Wont be returning
Plates cold, salmon chilly, fries rock hard. Happily changed meal and provided a free cocktail each. Happy. Unfortunately we went for unlimited breakfast this morning. Expensive for what we got. No porridge, no muesli, no coco pops, no labelling on milk to say which was full fat and which semi, cooked option had to be cooked specially...one serving only, and was barely warm, coffee mug arrived before cooked breakfast and we were not offered more. Shouldnt be advertising unlimited as its clearly not. Both waitresses came across as surly. Not a good way to leave our stay away
This was a second visit after several years...the first being a let down with long waits for food and then inedible food.We decided to visit again as,we were in the area and were welcomed by a member of staff and seated and offered drinks....we waited some time before my husband going to the bar and getting our order himself. We continued waiting for a member of staff to take our food order and had to call staff member over to give our order.Again we were waiting some time before food was eventually brought out but when it did eventually arrive was hot and tasty. We decided to order desserts and again had to call staff member over to give our order to her?All in all, food good and well presented but shortage of staff made it a less enjoyable experience, maybe third time lucky...we shall see.
Went there with family on the spur of the moment as it was a lovely day to sit outside and have a bite to eat. When we settled on what we wanted i wentf to order our food and drinks. There was a young barman working (on his own, might i addwho was getting flustered because the barrel needed changing, then the till froze, so by the time he went off to find someone if was over 20 minutes by the time our order was completed! We had numerous things to eat but the 3 ladies each chose the large salad course of which neither of them hardly touched because it was tasteless and had hard root ends and very bitter leaves in it! Also af this point i went back to the bar to order them something else. We also had dirty cutlery and no napkins. The young man who originally served us was the one who came outside to our table. I proceeded to show him how the salads were disgusting (which he agreed and could i have a word with the manager. He responded with this instruction and said he would get the manager asap. We were having our drinks and realised 25 minutes had passed and no sign of the manager! I went inside and asked to see the manager. A lovely lady came out and when I explained everything she was totally unaware of my complaint and that the barman had finished his shift and didnt say a word to anyone before he went home! This lady sincerely apologised and proceeded to give me a full refund of my original order which I thought was amazing. I made a point of saying that I had worked in hospitality for years and that the barman to be made aware of his mistake. All in all it hasnt put me off returning and hope ti visit again in the near future.
So we went for an anniversary meal on a Monday night. Big mistake, under staffed, very under stocked as we have 4 occasions where the waitress(whos actually a cook therehad to come and ask if we would like something instead of what we ordered or part of your meal isnt avail can you choose something else? We went there to enjoy ourselves and were left feeling robbed of a special night for us. Then to top it off we wanted to have a cocktail in the garden and it STINKS of goose droppings.
Nice place to stop for a drink or meal after a walk around Priory Country Park. Welcoming and attentive staff and enjoyed my meal.
Disappointing. Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a 50th birthday. Table was sticky and had a puddle but not cleaned when pointed out to staff, had to chase our drinks order. Table was booked for 1.45 pm. Food wasnt served until 2.45 pm even though most orders from our party were for the basic Sunday lunch. Wont return in a hurry.
Terrible service, terrible food. This is what they served my child and they tried to hide the burnt parts within the meal. The beef pie was solid and I couldnt really eat it. Tables sticky, food on the floor and the carpets stained. Felt disgusting, needed a shower when I got home. Im not normally fussy, but this was really bad.
Very good venue for a family breakfast with the children eating free. All you can eat from both the continental side and also the full English menu with lots of choice and freshly cooked. If there is a downside it would be the hot water for tea and coffee (juices were availablethe hot water was by a pump pot thermos type thing which takes a while to fill the cup. I understand that health and safety must be followed, but there must be a better system for this, but all round it is well worth it.Good parking and plenty of seating.
Terrible food! We waited an hour for our roast’s to arrive to our table (the restaurant was not busy for a Sundayduring this time we had already complained about the wait. Once the food came, all 3 different plates of chicken were stone cold in the middle, and the plates were missing items they were supposed to come with. Waitresses were very kind and helpful however the managers would not come to speak to us.Totally unacceptable service and quality of food.
We visited the Beefeater recently for a friends leaving do at work, bearing in mind we normally only have a 1 hour lunch break we had a group of 16 of us. We provided a pre order the night before so all menu choices were already in. We booked the table for 12.30. We provided our drinks order within 10 mins of arriving only to find out they had lost our drinks order list, and took a further 30 minutes to provide drinks. Our meal arrived 1hr and 15 minutes after we had arrived. The waitress knew i was strict vegan and mentioned that my dish was vegan only to open the burger and find mayonnaise in it. The waitress said she would check with the chef to see what the sauce was....only to come back to me and say the chef didnt know and they will be making a fresh one. So while everyone was finishing off there meal i was only recieving mine to the point i cancelled my dessert ate my burger and left 2 hours later and they didnt even offer me a discount! Definitely do not recommend and will not be going back!!!!
Don’t understand what people are complaining about. We both had lamb which was cooked exactly the way we asked for. Venue is clean, serving staff lovely, service prompt, food tasty. Thought it would be like harvester but is way better.
Really gone downhill. We used to come here regularly, most weekends for lunch or dinner and always recommended it to people but the last couple of times it has gotten progressively worse. It is now overpriced for what you receive. Burgers have come out burnt more than once. The portions have gotten smaller. Food is just not good anymore. Really disappointed, definitely will not be eating here again. It also takes ages getting served a drink at the bar now as there only seems to be one person working behind the bar at a time so there is always a line.
Pretty poor, stayed for 3 days in the hotel next door. Ordered a medium steak one night that came out very well done, ordered onion rings with my main another night that never showed even after asking where they were when the mains arrived too. On the plus side the burgers are very n8ce and the portion sizes are good.
Visited yesterday with a friend at lunchtime. We ordered breaded mushrooms which were hard and overcooked. Told the waiter. He said he would feedback to the kitchen. My lasagne was fine. My friend ordered a classic burger which was overcooked and had hardly any salad. Her chips were hard and cold but she didnt want to make a fuss. My dessert was missing its sauce and my friends ice cream wasnt big enough for a child. Some adjoining diners said their steaks were overcooked.A very disappointing visit
Where do I begin sat at a table for 2 quite close to serving hatch. The plastic screens were filthy the table sticky. Drinks we ordered had to wait for husbands drink came out wrong flavour. He didnt say anything. There was a couldnt careless attitude amongst the young staff. Share platter for two. Twondsy items missing from the menu listed. Main Sunday roast was awful the chicken not roasted put on a griddle pan to give a few stripes to it. It tasted burnt couldnt eat mosst of it. Very disappointing.
As a regular user of The Barn Beefeater at Milton Keynes we thought going to this one would be of the same standard. How wrong. Went as a fathers day treat, but was really disappointed by the poor service, not enough staff working, and the food was terrible. Send your chef to mk to learn how to cook. All in all terrible restaurant that would not go to again total waste of money.
From the moment we entered the Beefeater at the Priory Marina in Bedford ... We were welcomed with a friendly smile & seated. Our Waitress AJ was absolutely amazing... Very attentive, friendly & also very welcoming. AJ ensured that all our dietary requirements were met & continued to assist us in anyway she could although the restaurant was busy. We will definitely come again. Thank you AJ & continue to stay blessed.
The meals sat on the counter for 10mins before being served. We had watched staff clear and set tables during this time.It was cold when it reached us. We ate some of it because we were tired and wanted to get back to the room but noticed many going back.Worst meal we have had for long timefries and beans be so bad. The chicken looked and tasted as if it had been steamed and then grilled. Beans were in a particularly unpleasant sauce. Fries were OK.
Had to wait an hour for food to arrive, had the Big Dipper, burgers weren’t so much cooked as cremated. Barely any gravy to dip anything with. Asked them to make it again and the burger was edible this time but the chips were either stale or over cooked. I was hungry so I ate what I could.Drinks had to be remade multiple times, didn’t taste right, Coke Zero tasted like Diet Coke and Fanta tasted floral.Gents Toilets were out of order and had to use the disabled toilet. Door lock doesn’t work and toilet was practically a disgusting swimming pool.
Unfortunately after an hours wait the food arrived cold. My fries were obviously a microwave version , very soggy . We were told they had run out of mash potato at 1pm on a Sunday. Strange phenomena as surely a staple ingredient. Our party member that had fish said the batter was dry and fish tasteless. The only redeeming feature of the afternoon was our charming waiter .Otherwise a very negative experience. We wont be returning in a hurry.
It was a long time before someone took our order then it took ages to come out. We were warned about how slow the toaster was but I did not expect to be lingering around the pastries for 10 minutes for a ruddy slice of toast!!! NOT how I imagined I would be spending my Sunday morning! We were held hostage in this place for an hour by the time wed finished our average breakfast. If youre forced in to it, make sure you get 3 sausages because theyre small. The day before we waited a while for a drink and the queue for the bar grew to about 8 people. Under staffed and over priced.
None of the items we ordered were available. Then my chips were brought out in a bowl, rock hard. The waitress took them back and brought out a new bowl of chips. The chef had mixed the old ones and some new ones together as some were hot and soft and some were rock hard and cold. It’s chips they really couldn’t give fresh ones?My husband ordered steak with a sauce (his third choice of a meal as the kitchen kept coming out saying they don’t have what he’s orderedit was only after he was eating the steak and chasing the sauce with the waitress that they said’Oh they didn’t have the sauce that’s why they didn’t give it you’ it would have been nice to choose a different one…. But no option was given. The waitress in the bar was sweet. The manager was aware of the horrific situation we had as the waitress informed them. They really didn’t care. It showed.First and definitely last time here. Shall be telling my friends and family to avoid like the plague.
The spinach and ricotta cannelloni was so dry and rubbery had to return it. It was replaced with another one which looked better but definitely was not in a creamy tomato sauce as advertised on the menu, and was still not very good.We also requested extra chips as portions very small. They never did arrive. However on the upside the pub is in a beautiful setting. Perfect for a drink.
Busy Sunday afternoon but not enough bar staff. For a place that thrives on weekend business theres no excuse. The food was abysmal, cheesy dirty fries were precooked microwaved french fries with cheese sauce, grillmasters sharing favourite was very sorry looking, ribs were passable but the rest was dire and at £21, severly overpriced considering what we actually got.As a cider drinker was a bit annoyed at the one cider on tap being off but hey, thats acceptable in a pub, the food was not.Great for a pint to break up your walk but as gor the rest, save your money. If the pics look nice, its probably because I dont onow how to turn ai beautification off on canera 🤣
Went for breakfast today with friends, it was terrible, continental cereal had not much of a choice, cooked breakfast was even worse, eggs were over cooked, rubbery, left an aftertaste and it was warm rather than hot. Must be a change in chefs as we have had breakfast here on many other occasions and it has always been fine.
Very very poor. Cold steak had to send back. Cold pulled pork open sandwich. Rare avocado instead of guacamole. Only thing good was the waitress.
On my own with my pups, was able to place order with staff outside very attentive, was busy but they were on top of it. Food didnt take long to come out, water bowl for pups and salad was lovely and fresh.
Not very impressed with the quality of food served. Had to send the Steak back as it was stone cold and my partner got some raw avocado instead of guacamole and all was a bit bland.. However the waitress we had was lovely.
I really could not rate any lower as I have been eating at this restaurant for the last 20 weeks.I have been staying for business and could have easily gone elsewhere to eat.The food is really good, I can safely say that as I have had everything on the menu. To have good meals for 20 weeks is a testament to the kitchen staff. The service is efficient and the staff are super friendly. Obviously I have got to know them over the 4 months I have eaten here but from my first day to my last they have been super. Also I would like to mention the lady at breakfast, always greets me with a smile and looks after all the customers in such a friendly way which you need first thing in the morning.I can honestly say I have really enjoyed my time eating and drinking here and will really miss all the staff.I will however need to go on a bit of a diet but that’s my own fault as I just cannot resist the desserts.Thank you Bedford Beefeater it has been an absolute pleasure meeting and eating with you all.
Have used this Beefeater many times but this experience was dreadful. Put on the worst table with servers constantly going through the fire door to serve customers in the garden. I got up 12 times to close the door. Food was good though and our young waitress (her first daywas amazing and so sweet.
Came here for a bite to eat before cinema. Service good, but portion size very small. Get more chips at McDonald’s! Over priced for basic food.
I liked it especially because it is situated within the Priory Country Park and there is a good walking route available to exercise off the extra calories youve just eaten 😀 The food was good what I would expect from the Beefeater chain. The service was exceptional really lovely table waiter and Manager. I will definitely be back. Thank you
The restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, thats where the positives end.The wait time was very long but the place was fully booked. The lamb starter was dry and overpriced. I tried the steak. It was bland, no seasoning whatsoever. Very fatty steak, not trimmed at all. Finally, for £22, I was expecting more quantity in terms of garnish. My friends that tried the burger and the fried chicken were content with their food. Finally, at no point did they ask us if we enjoyed the food. Not even when the server took the starter only half eaten.
This restaurant and pub is in a great location on the lake and is really enjoyable in the summer with a large garden and loads of outdoor seating. Food is offered outside too but has to be ordered at the bar rather than there being table service. The car park outside is a decent size but be aware it’s very tight! Inside there’s two distinct areas, with a restaurant side and separate bar section, suited more for drinks and snacks. The restaurant offers table service and has large tables suitable for groups as well as couples and single diners. Everywhere is really clean and the open kitchen is reassuring. There’s a good range of options on the food menu with some cheaper deals available during the week before 6:30pm. Our waitress was really friendly and was prompt with drinks orders. Soft drinks are sold as unlimited refills, and throughout the meal top-ups were proactively offered and brought quickly.I went for one of the new starters on the menu - chicken and duck wings. Two chicken wings and three duck wings made it a good size and the sauce wasn’t overpowering, with some chilli slices adding a nice little kick. The chicken and chorizo pie was offered with a choice of potatoes or chips, and came in filo pastry. This made it rather unique and one of the sub-600 calorie options on the menu. Again, it was a good portion size and was tasty. The premium surf and turf steak came with good sized prawns, loads of chips and the steak was cooked nicely to the order of medium-rare. Unfortunately the promised calamari wasn’t present and hadn’t been replaced with anything else. Sauces were offered by the waitress and brought quickly in small pots. While eating the mains a new waitress checked on our meals and introduced herself as taking over from the previous girl who was finishing her shift. This is the first time I’ve had the experience in such a restaurant which was really nice. Unfortunately though at this point (around 7pmthe place was starting to get a lot busier and the service started to suffer as a result. It took a long time for desert orders to be taken and the ice cream took ages to be brought from the kitchen. After the meal it seemed to take forever to get hold of anyone for the bill. It doesn’t feel like it was the fault of the staff though, just not enough of them to go round so many tables.Overall we had an enjoyable early evening meal here. It’s far from being the cheapest option in the town and did end up feeling a little steep for what we got. But the quality of food was good and it was relaxing, so for somewhere different it’s worth a visit if you don’t mind the bill.
