Beefeater Coombe Lodge in Piripiri
Description
Privilege
Absolutely appalling The service was disgusting, our chicken breast was still pink in the middle and the chicken Goujon had a bone in it. After speaking to the staf member about it we just got told ‘not like you’re gunna get food poisoning’ no apology no refund just rude service. One of the young lady’s working there was just shouting about how disgusting it was and how awful it is to work there. We then left feeling very belittled by the way we were spoken to, came back after thinking that wasn’t right to get spoken to the best time like we were stupid and still no result with the situation. Extremely disappointed and outraged if anything.
MoreWell, the cocktails for £5 was a joke. Ordered two, didnt have any other than two of your own. Then to be told you didnt have the bramble one after ordering one and a negroni. No vodka, no Bacardi? The negroni one wasnt very nice, my partner didnt enjoy it either.Starters were fine, hot and enjoyable. The mains, chips cold on all 4 plates, the steak was cooked correctly (mediumbut was cold. On the 1/2 chicken, it looked as though it had been sitting under a lamp for too long as the beans and BBQ sauce had like a film covering over them.We did report this all to the waitress who served us, replacing the chips and eventually adding a discount for the two disgusting cocktails. For a birthday meal for myself, it left something of a poor taste in my mouth. Disappointed doesnt really cut it.
MoreAwful! Undercooked and cold food. Chewy fatty steak, cheap mayonnaise and ketchup. Flavourless food. Understaffed, grubby stained furniture. Will not be returning 😡
MoreFood was terrible they either need new chefs or go with boil in a bag or microwave menu style food the only fresh item I had o my plate was the coleslaw and I bet that wasnt made on sight very dissatisfied
MoreWe were a large booking and the food was over cooked and stone cold, a drinks order took nearly half an hour to arrive and Ive never heard a manager be so rude to paying guests. Absolutely disgusting and Id recommend not going!
MoreAffordable place to have a good meal. Dishes are not too expensive and staff is friendly
MoreGreat food & friendly staff. Service was fast & the place is clean. Staff are very helpfull too. Great place to come for a big family meal. We came for Mothers Day & had a great time with a good selection of food & drinks. The table given to us was in a good area & the place is well lit up. Allround a good experience. Had another great dinner experience here today. The staff are always friendly & the food is delicious. 👍😁🍹💥
MoreDisappointing!Service was extremely poor, it seemed like we were forgotten about. We had empty main course plates on our table for 30 minutes before asking someone to take it away...at which point it was super late.We would have spent a lot more money if the service was more efficient.Starters were ok. Main course was poor, bland & lukewarm. Not the greatest
MoreIve been to Coombe Lodge several times. over the past few years and feel the standard of food is getting worse. On our last visit, we ordered the spinach and ricotta cannelloni. It turned up and it was dry. Not an ounce of sauce to be seen. The cannelloni was accompanied by some form of garlic flatbread. It was so hard it could be used as a offensive weapon.
MoreIf I could give zero stars I would. Waited 40 minutes to be served, thats 40 minutes with no drink as well. Ordered the fillet steak and could only eat half of it as it was abhorrently fatty and none of the knives provided would cut through it. The service was incredibly slow, which was particularly astouding as staff were in abundance and there werent many customers. The mushroom that accompanied the steak tasted off from the first bite and the bernaise sauce tasted overwhelming of vinegar. Terrible service and terrible food, would not go back again.Worth noting that shortly after writing the initial review (edited half hour after postingI saw my entire meal in reverse.
MoreWe had booked a table for 6 for Sunday lunch. Before booking, my grandparents attended the restaurant in person to book a specific table as my grandad is hard of hearing, so wanted to make sure the table was in a suitable location so he could hear the conversation. Upon arrival, we were told we couldn’t sit there and had to sit somewhere completely different. We then sat down to a see our cutlery was all sticky, as was the table, and the surrounding restaurant was frankly filthy and thick with dust. We ordered a bottle of white wine only to find out they didn’t have it in stock, but not only that - there was only one bottle of white wine left in the whole restaurant which seemed very bizarre. Other than this, the food was pleasant and the waiter was friendly. It was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday, we had always known it to be very busy in the past, so seems the place is going down hill sadly.
MoreWent for a birthday meal. No drinks menus given to us. Meals plonked down in a hurry, we werent asked if we wanted any sauces which is the usual . My husband had about 6 chips. My steak was fine but the tiny half tomato and tiny half mushroom were disappointing. Desserts were fine, no complaints. Bill arrived ..theyd added 2 cocktails onto our bill! (£13 approx).Disappointed overall and will not return.
MoreStaff were lovely but the food was pretty awful. Overcooked salmon undercooked chips and soggy veg.
MoreRooms good standard drinks good price and wicked cocktails ! Reception forgot our breakfast reservation but all n all a good nights stay
MoreThe food was good. The service was good. The table, that we were sitting at, felt sticky too the touch and the carpet looked ok, but the baby we had with us, had a little crawl on it and ended up with dirty hands, knees and socks. So if you go here dont let your little ones crawl around on the floor.
MoreA really cosy breakfast experience, perfect family treat. Fantastic continental options, all freshly baked. Delicious fresh fruit. Drink selection amazing and all included in one price and obviously fantastic value with kids eat free too. Great service throughout our time there.
MoreWe booked for a birthday, party of 9. Food was good to the most part, service was terrible, we booked for 5pm and didnt leave till gone 8! Took over half hour to get a drinks order, and a further hour and a half to get mains for the table. Extra drinks through the dinner were forgotten about until the end we asked for the bill and random drinks came to the table. Hardest part was we had two under 2s, so trying to keep them occupied became impossible to the point a couple of us had to go sit in the cars with them and had to leave the rest of the family to carry on. Beefeater on a whole has been a good restaurant for us, but we definitely wont be coming back.
MoreFirst time coming and it was our son bday food was brilliant and pudding very good service and friendly staff looking forward to going back in October for my birthday travel from Eastbourne tonight x
MoreCelebrated a 92 birthday and it was good!We were a party of over 30 and had our own room. The staff were well organised and Freya looked after us beautifully. Thanks also to her colleague who helped at times. The food and drinks were great and we enjoyed ourselves. A bonus about the location is that it was just next door to Coombe Gardens where we could take photos. Overall, a very good way to celebrate an event. Thanks and great job to the staff. We look forward to returning.
MoreGreat food, great priced kids meals, come with pudding and starter, good staff and huge garden, can get busy so service can be a little slow, but worth the wait.
MoreHad a nice time here, would have been 5 stars but the gammon was very thin, should have called it thick bacon, pineapple and egg. Excellent service, lovely place, refillable diet drinks. Free kid meals during the day, during the kids summer holidays.
MoreCame here for lunch with my sister last week and whilst my food was nice and flavoursome I was very disappointed by the portion of calamari I received especially for the price I paid. There was also options on the menu which had run out in the kitchen as sweet potato fries and hot dogs which was interesting as it as it was still quite early in the day. I also wanted to buy churros and and ice cream for dessert but as the waitress explained the portion of churros would not have been worth the price.
MoreAn old favourite place to eat out in the garden with family, but somewhat disappointing food for the second time running this summer.Medium rare steaks were quite tasty but rather rare and bloody. Only one mini corn instead of 2 with the kids meals. Cobb salad was simple but salmon was good.Service was a bit slow and needed following up for drinks and desserts even though it was early on a Sunday evening and not at all busy. Staff were looking tired.
MoreReally nice welcome from staff with attentive service and pleasant surroundings. Evening meal was nice ( portion fairly small on the Haddock and chips).Good range of drinks. Breakfast was excellent in both range and quality.Once again the staff were friendly and attentive. Would happily return
More... Took friends along for lunch again... Food and sweets fine... Fairly quiet because of the heat.... Prices reasonable..... Good service...... And great, easy parking!.... Which in Croydon is saying something.
MoreThe food was really poor. I paid for fillet steak for my £21.99 its was really poor meaning hard. Its o ok for a drink but food dont buy food from this because you might regret if this place dont improve on food. Definitely overpriced food.
MoreIf I could my marking would be a minus score.12 of us visited recently to celebrate my mother-in-laws 89th birthday.Let’s start on a positive note, the gentleman on the front desk was very helpful as my mother-in-law is disabled and he was very accommodating. Also the food on our previous visits has been good.On this visit the food was terrible. Some examples: the nachos that were supposed to be ‘oozing in cheese’ were more like hunt the cheese. As for the lettuce wedge, words fail me as how best to describe this abomination on a plate, plus no blue cheese as per the menu. The double crunch chicken burger was dry and burnt. The supposedly cooked to order Cookie Dough was cold and rock hard, so hard you could not break it was a spoon.I could have sent the meals back but that was not an option with 12 of us or I could have refused to pay some of the £400 plus bill. Again this was have spoilt the birthday celebration and caused my mother-in-law upset.I chose the option to write and complain to Beefeater. They offered their apologies and sent an underwhelming £40 goodwill voucher (less than 10% of the bill). In future I will take my custom elsewhere
MoreNo other way to say it but the food is awful. Had smothered chicken and ordered a side of hallomi fries followed by the cookie dough with ice cream. The menu boasts quality bbq sauce and specialist cheese as well as triple cooked chips and house slaw. What a disappointment!!!The hallomi fries were rubbery and salty. As for the cookie dough more like over cooked cookie with dust thrown all over it. Go find a McDs rather than this place! Only positive was the staff!
MoreStaying here for a funeral nearby Payed £45 for two of us for breakfast and dinner. Great service fastest iv been served ever. Great staff great food., will return next time in Croydon destination a must.. 🙂👍
MoreWe have used this venue in the past for celebration of life events. The managers have always been very helpful in planning and delivering the agreed spaces and food! I would normally rate them 4/5 stars but on this occasion they left us high and dry, after giving us 2 days notice. They were unable to host the event due to the site being forced to close due to drainage issues. It was disappointing that we werent given more notice.
MoreBeautiful building and grounds but go there for a drink, not to eat. The menu with pictures & descriptions looked so inviting. My friend and I ordered 3/4 side dishes each to try them out. Prawns so overcooked like leather, BBQ chicken pieces burnt, tough & dry, calamari tasteless, mac n cheese coagulation etc. SO BAD we left the food and went to another eatery.
MoreThe service was great but the food was awful. Oven chips, a scrag end of tomato and a gristly piece of beef that had no grilled flavour at all. Could have done it better in s getting own at home. The place has the atmosphere of a forgotten motorway service station.
MoreWent with some friends on a Sunday lunchtime. Had the vegetarian "chicken" roast dinner. The veg was hard and cold, and the veggie chicken was really tough and tiny. Dessert was slightly better. The service was good and friendly, just pretty awful food
MoreService and staff were lovely and very helpful, however unfortunately the food was not the best, although we ate in the garden and not in the restaurant. I had a chicken open sandwich, the bread was tough and difficult to cut and the chicken was quite dry. It was a shame as otherwise a pleasant venue and experience.
MoreLovely place, however the food was not great. Had chargrilled lamb chops. Had 3 tiny pieces with very few potatoes, 2 halves of a tomatoe and about 15 green peas if that. £15.99. Very mean portions and not very tasty. Its a real shame, because the place is lovely. Wont be going back.
MoreVery nice building and food. I had the mixed grill which was very good. We sat in the conservatory which has very large tables with plenty of room. Service was also very good.
MoreWe had a table for 12 for breakfast. Excellent choice of the continental. The hot breakfast was served hot and all together. The staff were friendly and helpful.
MoreFood is over priced and poor quality which is a shame as it is a nice pub. Food obviously put in microwave and no quality control. I think the management/staff need a shake up. Poor quality food.I had a simple lunch order that was served up like slop and cold! Looked like someone had thrown up!Anthony on the other hand is amazing !! Love him! (Bar staff).
MoreMeal was enjoyable my daughter had mixed grill.I had chicken cheese and bacon and chips. but our waitress disappeared after the main meal was served ,we were lucky we had the time to spare before our transport came.Nice drinks large glasses orange squash and coke. The another wait for the unfortunately during our meal we were surprised by a loud banging noise .We observed two men putting up cables for some reason.why couldnt they do this when the place is empty? This went on for approximately an hour.Dont think I will return.
MoreVery reasonable price . The food is good or standard. I like the chicken rings not in butter which is more tasty. Only mistake is a waitress she over charge me . But I ask another waitress to help.
MoreThe standard of food for the price is pathetic! £13.29 for the pic attached. The chips, werent cooked, no bbq sauce as stated on the menu, overall a very greasy dish. Not helped by the chefs choice of music, blaring out from the open kitchen. Would not recommend at all, service ok, the waitress gave me a reduction on the bill. Avoid!
MoreNice interior for a family meet up. Shame yet again this particular restaurant chain across the UK are struggling to provide a full menu due to food shortages......
MoreThe food is poor considering how expensive it is. The Coombe Lodge beefeater are disgraceful for charging the amount they do for the food they provide . The sticky barbecue ribs are £16.99 and came out cold and most obviously microwaved . All the food here is clearly microwaved and yet still managed to be lukewarm at best , there is no thought or effort put into the food. The ribeye which costs £19.29 which is an average price for that cut of meat was once again cold . The roast dinner was also cold. The food itself wasn’t disgusting but it was clear that you could buy this from Tesco’s and heat it up yourself . I’ve been a few times before but will not be coming back.
MorePretty poor to be honest. The floor around us was filthy. The plasters falling off the wall! Our main meals was missing food - (Corn on the cob). And ordered beer battered onion rings and got some cheap breaded Iceland specials! We won’t be back!Avoid this place! See pics..
MoreCoombe Lodge, a very nice place with lovely staff and food. The outdoor seating arrangement is quite nice but beware of some of the insects during the height of summer. It also has an excellent hotel and a very rich history. Good for the family, parties, stag and hen nights or to watch the game. Definitely recommend.
MoreHad a great evening, was served by Nicala, food was very well cooked and I cant wait too come back soon!
MoreHad Xmas dinner here, the staff were friendly and did not rush us through the meal. The food tasted great and portion sizes were were good, my only minor gripe was the Xmas pudding was a bit small, but that did not take away from an otherwise excellent meal.
MoreHorrific..... waited 20mins on arrival to be told our table was not ready, even though we had booked it in advance. Told to go to the bar where we would be called. We were not called. Eventually we found a member of staff who showed us our table. We waited again until someone took our order. The waiter did his upmost to get our food order and apologised for the delay. By this time it was 15.45. We had arrived at 14.00. Disgusting. Our starters came up, over cooked and definitely not as described on the menu. After a further wait of 35 minutes our main course arrived. Burnt burgers, dried out chips, no salad..... it was such a disappointment. We did call the duty manager and expressed our concerns. He did not charge us for our meals but unfortunately it ruined a birthday celebration which should have been a fun afternoon with family enjoying a delicious meal. To top it off the toilets were in a disgusting state. One blocked and the other over flowing. These had not been checked in a while. This restaurant was definitely under staffed. The kitchen / chef needs some help with cooking and preparation. We felt sorry for the front of house staff as they were getting all the complaints but the problems obviously go a lot further into the management chain. This organisation needs attention.
MoreSteak was a lil too dry but i guess its my fault you need to specify how you want it cooked so they dont assume, took a while for the food to arrive, over worked staffs other than that delicious meal ,amazingly friendly staffs ,beautiful outside scenerio
MoreFor starters I had cheese ball bites and this was the best thing about the meal. The friends had the potato skins but there were waaaay too much. They might as well have them as a sharing dish. For main I had sausage and mash but there wasn’t as much mash as I would normally like. Plenty of peas though if you’re into that sort of thing. My company had a burger with fries but the fries were over cooked and very hard. He said the burger was ok.If I stopped at the premier inn again I would properly look for somewhere else to eat as I thought the food was just ok.The staff were very friendly.
