Pub-style chain serving up a menu of grilled meats and international favourites such as fajitas.
Table was sticky, cutlery was dirty & glasses for the water were not clean. Meal took 35 mins to arrive & was luke warm. My vegetarian roast was dry & no had no gravy. Very disappointing
The food was lovely best I have had from a beefeater the lady that served us was a lovely lady would 100% come back here
Decent breakfast and the kids age free with the adults. Plenty of choice and the staff where helpful but a little rushed due to the lack of staff.
Food was not great and was expensive. Didnt help with the chef coughing while cooking. Happened at breakfast and tea. Breakfast hot food was very poor quality
Most white wine was out of stock, so had to buy one bottle for £8 more, not happy
Left without eating. Asked to be seated to be told they were fully booked and up to an hour wait on food. Sat in a horrible dirty corner food all over floor and tables. Discussed eating but the place was empty and told by staff we couldnt move tables so left and spent our money elsewhere
Service behind the bar is slow , but most of the staff are friendly and pricing is good
Mixed bag for breakfast. We went for the buffet all you can eat, but they were woefully understaffed. The staff that were working did their best and were pleasant and friendly, but a number of the food options were sparse and not keeping with demand. The tea/coffee machines were out of milk and distinct lack of pastries. Due to the lack of staff, tables werent cleared and the place looked a mess. We even had to go on the hunt for our own cutlery. Im sure on another day, it would be fine, but cant see is going back.
Horrendous, We waited over an hour and a half for our food and when it eventually came it was dry, overcooked and tasteless. The kids meal consisted of a few burnt chicken nuggets and about 6 chips. One of our party asked four times over a 45 minute period for a glass of wine and it never came.Staff were friendly but clearly not enough of them to cope with the demand.Never will we ever visit this dump again.Don’t waste your money. You’re honestly better off staying in and getting a take out.
Good service good food and good beer what more can you ask for.
Very disappointed with our visit last night, this used to be one of my favourite places to grab a bite to eat, all staff interaction was great however there clearly wasn’t enough staff to cope with the number of people eating. The food to the table was So poor, my ribs felt like they been cooked twice what they should have been and practically no bbq sauce.Oh and to remove the free fries top up if needed was the final straw. We won’t be coming back in the near future.
Unfortunately we were served two very poor lunches that arrived nothing like the description and with coleslaw that looked old and grey. All meals were returned and were graciously refunded.Hopefully things will be better if we have the opportunity to visit again another time.
Dinner for four. Great friendly service. Good food and top end of reasonable prices. Just recently have noticed they are running out of some items on the menu from time to time. Plenty of parking as shared carpark with hotel. As clean as can be expected.
Poor service. Overwhelmed staff. Feel sorry for them they need more support. The manager makes you feel like an inconvenience.
Used to be a really good place to go. Now just seems a bit of a dive. Food is good but the wait is long. There doesnt seem to be many experienced staff.
We had 2 adults and 2 children. We also had a kids eat for free all summer voucher. The kids voucher apparently is ONLY for 1 child at any one time and ONLY for the MAIN meal. We had Starters and Mains and Dessert each. The wait for each course was so bad it took 2 and half hours from arriving to leaving. The meal was nice I cant fault that. The tables were very sticky and needed more than a wet cloth to clean. Going up to the toilets the handrails were also very sticky. It was OK but not somewhere to return to. Other branches have faired better in my experience.
Very tasty meals, stopping off on way to Ferry Port at Newhaven
Has improved a lot, would of got 5 stars If they did not leave the fire doors open, as its was a bit of a bad draft chilling my food quickly.
A lovely meal with excellent service from very friendly staff. Christina in particular was extremely professional, friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.
The service was poor. Ordered 3 iced latte’s which never arrived at the table and had finished eating. Food was nice, just a shame about the service.
Friendly welcome and service. Food delivered exactly as ordered and in reasonable time. Pleasant surroundings. Good value.
Quality of the food and service is ok. The menu list looks smaller than before though - unfortunately portion sizes are smaller and prices are higher than seen previously.
Our meals took over an hour to come, with with many key parts missing including steak and chicken, and half the salad my grandparents ordered, when we complained we were told "dont eat it then". I dont like to leave poor reviews but this was shocking. The chefs were being re-trained at the time, perhaps the prices should be lowered until they are fully-trained.
I came in with a friend at 1pm on the last Friday in June as a payday treat. The waited section was being manned by one waitress, she curtly told me and my friend she was busy and on her own and to sit down there, she pointed to a table and walked off with a look of impatience, she then came back and snapped at my friend when she asked if we could sit at a different table as the chairs were uncomfortable. She said "no because I just cleaned that table so sit there!"Due to her being very rude and borderline aggressive, we decided to go to the bar and order food and sit as far away from the rude and clearly frustrated waitress as possible. My friend was quite upset so I advised the barman the waitress needed a break or some help as she was running around snapping at customers.Food was great but experience made it an uncomfortable visit, I hope she was just having a bad day and does not treat all her customers like a severe imposition on her day. 😕Bar staff were very polite and helpful though.
Not very nice today... We was little late for our table and didnt we feel it... Staff was rude and unhelpful... Refused to get white bread and only half of our meals had what we wanted on the plate.
Ive always enjoyed my time here and the food is mostly consistently good.
Very bad service took over 20 mins to be seen to be seated and extra 40 mins till anybody came take our order so we left very bad service
Terrible service from start to end. Spent over 2 hours to have a main and pudding to share. No concern from management or staff. Will be taking it to head office so not writing to much on here
Food was nice enough but service was a bit slow.
Absolutely brilliantDecided to take my daughter and grandkids out for breakfast but unsure where to go that isnt going to break the bank and still get good food for a fair price, as we have always had a good meal at a beefeater we settled on The Acorn at Burgess Hill we were greeted by Luigi when we arrived and made to feel very welcome, the family all enjoyed our continental breakfast followed up with a cooked breakfast, the service from Luigi was 1st class ( he even apologised several times for the delay as they were busy , yet we never felt that we had had to wait Luigi was absolutely brilliant with my grandkids who are 2 and 5 we will we most definitely be back for a breakfast again, we hope that Luigi is our server again, my daughter and I assumed that Luigi is the GM if he isnt then he should be as he deserves 5 stars just for him
Very disappointing from food to the service.Booked a table for 5pm this evening with ease over the phone with a friendly assistant.Arrived on time for our table and requested to be seated outside and were told to come back inside to order at the bar.At the bar, I witnessed someone in the kitchen dropping a plastic lid on the floor that belonged to a box containing some sort of meat inside, he didnt bother washing it up and simply threw it back on the box and closed the drawer...Food hygiene ?? Which later put me off my food remembering this...The waitress who served me wasnt the most friendly (Name on the receipt was Luigi - the starter I wished to order wasnt available so had to choose something else off the top of my head, and then was told the sauce I wanted for my steak wasnt available either and I didnt want the other sauce available - so I asked for a menu to choose something else, which made me feel like I was being an inconvenience, so I quickly ordered the ribs as soon as I opened the menu, as I didnt want to keep her waiting. My husband ordered a Mixed Grill but did not want the egg or mushrooms that came with it, so I requested an extra two sausages as a replacement and was told "we cant do that, but I can add extra veg (Tomato)" - I was quite surprised at this - also due to the fact that 1/2 a grilled tomato isnt to the same value as an egg and portion of mushrooms ?? I provided my Blue Light Card and was given 25% off the food bill.We then waited a further 20 minutes outside with no sign of our refillable drinks, and then our starters appeared - we gently reminded the waitress that we were still waiting for our drinks - she apologised and brought them out to us a few minutes later, advising we must go to the bar to request a re-fill... Not great when the staff seem so busy - Maybe a drinks station would be beneficial to the restaurant to take some pressure off the staff working behind the bar. The starters were mediocre. My husband then popped inside to get another refill at the bar, just moments before our main courses came out - without the side we had also ordered- there was no offering of condiments for the table, however I managed to source some HP sauce sachets from inside the restaurant (no ketchup or mayo). No steak knife provided either for the mixed grill - this is supposed to be a Steak House....When he came back 10 minutes later due to time it took to get served, our food was starting to go cold and I was still waiting for the side order, so I popped back inside and advised who I assume was the manager of this (different uniform- the side came piping hot and within a couple of minutes of me asking for it.My ribs were so dry and not "falling off the bone" as described / advised on the menu, and out of many ribs Ive had the pleasure of enjoying at restaurants such as Smith and Western, Hard Rock Café etc., they were terrible! The mixed grill didnt look very appealing either, with no sauces offered. My husband also said the meal was dry and feels a sauce should have been provided or at least suggested upon ordering. No one came back to ask us how our food was.I felt so upset and angry I didnt want to return to the bar to get another refill on my drink, as I feel I wouldnt have been so polite to the staff - we are paying for a service and a good standard of food - neither of which we received , all in all pretty diabolical. We over heard and saw a family of 5 get turned away with a comment made by one of the party "Theyre short staffed, lets go to Wetherspoons in town" - so this could explain why the service received the evening was not up to any decent standard. There was a family next to us who left just as we started our main courses, and their table was still covered in dirty plates, glasses and sundae glasses upon our departure. Not great with the wild life that was very present throughout our meal. So much so, a seagull had helped himself to my ribs when we were leaving the car park - lets hope he enjoyed them more than I did !!Will not be coming back.
The restaurant was very busy and had to wait for an hour to be seated, but the food didnt suffer. Waitresses were efficient and didnt stop. One of the best Beefeaters weve been to.
The lunch menu was very good value, I certainly enjoyed my steak, which was cooked to perfection. Only criticism I have is that the breaded mushrooms were rather difficult to cut. I nearly lost quite a few skidding across the plate.
Had a fantastic ribeye steak. But unfortunately had to send prawns back as they tasted off. Staff where lovely
Sorry to say it was disappointing, even though we were booked early on a Saturday lunchtime, the service and food were poor. The quality of the food was ordinary and the cooking expertise was poor. No excuses given we were virtually the only people in there.
Absolutely shocking service. Never advised there was an hours wait for hot breakfast. No Choc crossaints left at all at 9.30!! most of the continental left to go empty, about 10 min queue for coffee, appalling
Not the greatest Beefeater, got drinks order wrong, had to send fish and chips main course back as fish had basically been overcooked to such an extent that it was curling up. Staff apologetic. Appeared to be short of staff for a busy Sunday lunchtime
Loved this place. The food was so nice & the waiter so friendly. I think his name was Steve.Great place & will defo be returning. We all enjoyed our meals. Very nice
Stood at door waiting for ages to be seated as I amdisabled not good but kind lady in front of us asked one staff member to get me a chair eventually got seated lady who served our table was very polite and kept apologising enjoyed my meal but would not go there again
Good food. Free pop refills. Tables are wonky so dont place your glasses near to an edge or they will slide off 😅 Very friendly service. Fish was a bit hard to cut through the batter. Burger was delicious. Also had ribs which were good. Love the chunky chips.
You know what youre getting with beefeater and the food was up to standard and tasty. However they had run out of quite a few dishes and we only arrived at 1pm (maybe because it was a bank holiday?), also the service was slow which was a bit frustrating, especially when trying to entertain 5 and 8 year old children.
This was our very first visit to Beefeater Burgess hill restaurant. We were very much impressed by the kind, helping and professional attitude shown by the manager Paul and the serving staff. We actually dropped in on a Saturday evening without any prior reservation as we were on an unplanned outing. The service was quick and the food was amazing. We all had a good hearty lunch and looking forward to be back sometime soon. A sure recommend to anybody planning to visit the burgess hill branch of the restaurant. Thanks!!
Nice bar / restaurant style Beefeater. Attached to a Premier Inn Hotel but separate businesses, we visited just before lunch so plenty of tables available. Once their lunch service started the restaurant started to get steadily busier. Nice friendly, attentive staff who did all they could to make lunch enjoyable.
If you havent been to a Beefeater before all you need to know is that they have a standard menu serving grilled foods. Although the restaurants are different they share a similar style and are generally co-located with a Premier Inn hotel. Our visit to The Acorn was great, our waitress, Shyirra, was polite and friendly and our food was delivered quickly and as ordered. We both enjoyed our meals, sirloin steak and a beef burger and they were cooked exactly as requested. If you want grilled foods then a Beefeater is always reliable and The Acorn was no exception. There is a plant based menu available but we didnt look at it.
After a long wait, we visited our local beefeater and wow it was really, really nice experienceThey have a good chef, the food was amazing, you can see the starters - chicken wings and steak skewers and mains beef pie and slow cooked pork ribs didnt make to the photos - we can recommend a visit, also the staff was very nice - we had Kerry, thank you guys, we will be back
Picture talks a thousand words and the staff was not much better with exception to kerry my waiter who was really nice. Manager was rude other staff were rude, kerry really was an exception to the general attitude of the staff just glad i got her if honest. That one star is for her and her alone lol
This was a great beefeater. After doing the cycle for BHF yesterday we came here to celebrate the day along with fathers day. The waiting services were great and the overall food was good. While one of the steaks was a little gritty, the quality at which it was cooked was perfect. Additionally, the vegetarian and vegan options were cooked to a great quality. The alcohol was nice, not overly pricey for a restaurant and the fathers day special came well done and well presented.A slight misunderstanding on the bill was quickly explained and we were quickly reassured that everything was fine.Overall, a great beefeater to enjoy a nice dinner at. Highly recommend.Disabled access: YesAccepts Card: YesCar Park: YesBookings advised: Yes depending on day (fathers/mothers day, etc)Value for Money: GoodQuality of food: GoodQuality of Service: Great
Service was run by children who must have just left school. Meal took a long time to come even though they were not busy. When it did come, it was well overcooked, possibly having been on the pass for too long as the plate was too hot to touch. The wine was not that special for the price either. Probably will not go back here.
Food good service ok but toilets disgusting... 4 flights of stairs then a broken door cubicle 1 broken seat cubicle 2 broken toilet paper dispenser cubicle 2 broken floor cubicle 2 and no soap anywhere! Oh and then waited 20 mins for my bill!!!!
I stayed at the Premier Inn next and had the opportunity to have dinner at this place. My experience here was nothing short of 5*. First evening, I ordered buttermilk chicken goujons as starter and paprika chicken as main. Starters had a good flavour to it so did the main and the chicken was very juicy and moist. Next evening, I ordered the same starters and it tasted exactly the same. For mains, I chose ribs and chicken breast. Ribs were glazed with bbq sauce which was not too sweet, just as I like it. And the chicken was again quite juicy and flavourful. Service is very prompt and the starter appeared in no time. As soon as I was finished with starters, they brought the mains out. The attitude of the staff is commendable.
