We got married at the end of August of this year 2022. Everything went well, and the two stars we gave are for the place that has beautiful nature and also for the helpful staff on the day. But we cannot recommend the place to others due to the management. From the signing of the contract the communication was horrible. Twice we tried to set up a phone conversation and just sat on the couch for an hour waiting. We do not live in Northern Ireland, and, for starters, we were not informed of the day that there would be a tasting menu for the bride and groom! After many emails and phone calls (yes, the amount of misunderstandings in the organization of this wedding surpassed anything I had ever seen), my in-laws were offered to try the tasting menu at our place...We were always informed that we would be renting the entire place, that is, without other guests or unwanted visitors. Even a month before the wedding we travelled to Northern Ireland to take care of the last details of the wedding, and we intended to see the place. Obviously, every bride wants to see the place where she will enter, decorate, etc., right? Incredibly the manager denied us the possibility of visiting that weekend, claiming that there was an event there and we would disturb even if we were to stay in the garden for 15 minutes. Imagine our surprise and how upset we were to see, on our wedding day, cars circulating with unknown people watching our ceremony (it was outsideand the owner of the place (we imagine he isshowing other visitors the place (in the middle of our reception!)Our package was called the Absolute, the one where everything is included. Unfortunately, we were not served scones and shortbread at reception as agreed, and we did not have a custom printed menu. By the way, when I asked the manager to send me the personalized menu, she sent the one in the photo. In addition to being unprofessional and having mistakes, even the date of our wedding is wrong! We naturally had it printed on a graphic and we had a nice personalized menu... but without receiving any discount for it.For those who have doubts, I have all the emails and photos of the communication in the months before the wedding. Organizing such an important event should be more relaxed, with respect and professionalism.
Guest at a wedding, ceremony was outside on a wooded setting, really lovely, beautiful grounds, food was good, staff were very helpful, the rooms are dated but comfy beds, door locks are dodgy, couldnt get in and then had problem getting out.
Fantastic place really enjoyed food. Great venue...
Looking for a wedding venue, we would recommend checking this out! We always receive a warm welcome when we come along with our gelato cart ππ¦
Was here for a wedding and it was just beautiful. We didnt stay but the food was amazing and the hotel was just beautiful π amazing venue for a wedding or a getaway b.
Attended as a wedding guest. The bar service was slow and food not up to the expectations I had heard about both dinner and breakfast. Expenses at no benefit with a 10:30 check out
I didnt rate the room as I was there for a wedding. I was impressed by the overall service and the surrounding scenery. Its a perfect place to do a wedding with plenty of places for pictures and also go for a little cute stroll. I will consider this place for a wedding invent when my turn comes πCan I say the staff there are so lovely.
Nice and quiet place. Welcoming staff. Their offer best services
We had our wedding here in June, I can honestly say from the day we first contacted the venue and the went to see it it was first class service all the way.. Absolutely stunning forest setting and the bar reception was soo relaxed. I had guests say to me it was the most laid back wedding but also the poshest wedding they were ever at.. The food was unreal and everyone talking how good it was and also the service was like clockwork.. Trevor went above and beyond got everyone going for our introductions, smooth operator. The rest of team were all so helpful nothing was a problem all they wanted was foe us both to have the best day ever .. Honestly the best day of our lives we cannot thank u all enough
The room was good, staff were friendly and helpful . However the breakfast was awful.. mushrooms not cooked and everything else was cold. Expected better for the price we paid
This business is not generally open to the public and as such is not bookable for overnight stays. My visit was to see if the owners would either cater for or allow history groups in or around this location.
Attended a wedding here recently and found it to be a very pleasant venue. Staff are friendly but needed more for the number of guests. We stayed overnight and the room could have been better. Some of the bed linen had marks on it which I would not expect given the room price.Handy enough to get to when travelling from Belfast just beware some sat navs struggle with road closures.
We were here for a wedding, and did not stay overnight. Wonderful wedding location. Great photo opportunities. Staff helpful and friendly. Food excellent.
Beech Hill is the place to have your wedding reception everything was perfect from beginning to end. Beautiful grounds for your pictures, food excellent and staff most helpful, nothing too much trouble special thanks to Alina, Roisin and Ann who made the day extra special.
Attend wedding. Bar service very slow. Food was nice but very limited quantities of vegetables served at table of 12 persons female manager facial expression said it all when one of male guests asked for more potatoes. Which didnt go unnoticed.Meal served in marquee which was quite cold especially at nightfall.
went here for a wedding show around and it beyond anything i ever expected the drive in was amazing and the grounds were beautiful the staff were lovely the sitting down and talking through the details was the best experience ive ever had with a show around because it wasnt just about what they offered it was about what things were important to me and what could they do for me its was the best experience ever
The beech Hill Country house Hotel was amazing ,the staff where very friendly and welcoming, the grounds around the house where so lovely
Had our wedding here a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful grounds and the food was all lovely for the two days we were there. Staff couldnt do enough for us and everything went smoothly
Have not actually stayed here, but Ive had tea (sublimeand sometimes just go here for a nice walk. The building itself is beautiful. The gardens are lovely, including several little bridges, and scenic ponds. Smaller trails are slightly muddy, and the best time to visit would probably be late summer, when its dry.If youre looking to have tea, make sure you check beforehand that there arent any weddings being hosted, or they wont let you in!
Our son got married here and we had a thoroughly great day and night. Some issues the morning after with no hot water available and a number of staff not turning up for breakfast which protracted breakfast service. It wasnt that big a deal to us. Staff food and service were excellent. Grounds are beautiful and would recommend it as a venue. Lastly, a big shout out to Gary the manager, who steered proceedings along nicely, ensuring we all had a fantastic day.
As someone who suffers from a food allergy. I was very disappointed in the restaurant managers attitude when I had to return food that contained gluten. Even though I had requested a gluten free meal. He made me feel embarrassed in front of strangers. As a plus the other staff are friendly and nice.
We recently got married here and everything was just perfect. Such a classy venue with so many choices as to where to have your ceremony or reception. Food was top notch and staff were attentive to every need. Itβs really is a one stop shop for your whole day and of course the grounds are spectacular for photos. I didnβt even view anywhere else as this place won me over on sight. You will not be disappointed with this place!
This is ridiculous as we are staying due to our nieces wedding. The room is below standard, TV doesnt work, no cold water and lights are limited. Told receptionist about the TV but only realised later that the other things not working. For the ridiculous price paid we have been really let down. We only stayed because of nieces wedding reception. Also lack of restrictions re masks and social distancing, we had to leave early due to this and couldnt even watch TV in our room. Also our room was ajdacent to the wedding marquee which was very noisy and it impeded our sleep. We had originally been given another room but cannot understand why this was changed. To add to this when confirming our booking the receptionist implied that I had not paid for the room of which I told her I did and later confirmed this to her with the date. She could not confirm this.a had requested that I see her the following day so that she could speak with her boss and confirm.
This venue is very special. A wonderful venue for a wedding. We stayed in a beautiful suite and I will be back for sure when the opportunity arises. The wedding reception was truly class. The food was great with really friendly staff. A special mention for the management team. Their warmth understanding and professionalism sets them apart. They are a credit to this beautiful place. I am anticipating a full reopening other than for events soon and would love to go back. For something a bit special this place is a must.
Beautiful place, excellent staff. We were here for a wedding. The food was terrible, the vegan risotto main was described by guests as "disgusting" and the portion was miniscule. The soup was a terrible, tasteless, broth and when one guest asked for vegan bread to go with it she was given a stale burger bap. (Most bread is, by default, vegan. The mousse dessert was extremely lazy. All the vegan portions were much, much smaller than the other dinners provided. There was no vegetarian option. It was very disappointing, especially when 20% or more of wedding guests will want a vegan/veg option. To be in any restaurant and be given food like this is discriminatory at best, but to be in an establishment like the Beech Hill and be treated with such disdain is just horrible.
5/5Having recently got married with our Reception in the Beech Hill, we found the staff to be very supportive and understanding. We were able to work with James and Jenny at each stage to understand what we may be able to have in terms of a reception despite the multiple changes that needed to be made from our original date and plans. On the day itself, the warm welcome for our family and ourselves was exceptional. The staff were always in masks, and also very careful to ensure that they followed the guidelines throughout, as well as making sure that we did the same. This meant that we all felt relaxed and safe while we were there. JP and Beth were on hand throughout the weekend to make sure that everything went smoothly. The food throughout the weekend was excellent. Everyone commented on just how good everything was.Overall we could not have asked for a better experience for our wedding reception. Despite the challenges and the uncertainties we were able to have an amazing and unforgettable weekend, while still feeling safe, much of which was down to the staff at the Beech Hill. They even managed to ensure we had a bright and sunny day for our wedding in December.
I was at a Christmas party night at The Beech Hill recently. The staff were polite and professional, they were attentive when available however .. while we had a decent night I really did feel that the price tag of almost Β£40 for a party night there was just not worth it. This is one of the more expensive options in the Derry area and we chose it for our work night because we thought there would be a bit more going on and that the food would be top class. Unfortunately everyone who had soup at my table found it inedible.. my own desert was a brownie which was as dry as bone along with a fruit cake which my colleagues also said was dry and tasteless. Also at the beginning of the night we wanted to have drinks in the small bar area and there just was not enough staff to serve the people coming in the door in a timely manner meaning we were waiting for 20+ minutes to order. I have to again say staff were nothing but professional but maybe having more on for such a night would have made things a bit quicker and more comfortable.. sorry but it was not worth what would be considered the upper limit price for a party night out! Beautiful building and grounds.
Fantastic service, very welcoming from the minute we arrived at reception! We had our dog with us too and nothing was too much trouble. The menu was fantastic for both us and the dog! Very well done! Will definitely recommend and of course we will be back!
Great service, cozy atmosphere, and I was super impressed with my vegan option! Not usually a fan of salad at all n just grin and bear it when its the only dairy and meat starter but this was delicious! And had a Fab flat bread dish for dinner.
Second time here and loved it even more!!!!! Celebrated my sisters 60th birthday - the staff were exceptional - they couldnt do enough for you. Rooms were beautiful, thoroughly clean and they had just introduced a gorgeous new toiletry line (I dont usually use hotel toiletriesbut these were something different!!! Food was outstanding! as well beautiful grounds to walk round. No wonder a past President from the United States stayed there! Loved every moment. Thank you to all the fantastic staff
I absolutely love this hotel and have done so for many years. The food and rooms are fabulous and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The only thing I would like to see is more variety at breakfast- very little fruit and no yogurt on our last visit. Iβm not a big breakfast person but I do love to have a choice of cereals, fruits and yoghurt . Please please for my next visit because otherwise you are brilliant. X
Stayed there for part of my trip up the Atlantic way lovely atmosphere great place to stay the room well suite was amazing and the food was excellent. Can get very busy with tourists visiting from America as beech hill was used by the Americans in the second world war as a hospital and recuperation facility. The hotel grounds are stunning especially the waterfall and watermill.
A friendly and well-kept country house hotel. The room are comfortable and clean, while maintaining the traditional feel. The food was very good with the Irish breakfast, cooked to order, worthy of particular mention: its been a long time since Ive had such a tasty and beautifully presented breakfast.
The grounds surrounding this hotel is some of the nicest I have seen in any hotel there are, if you like to go on scenic walks then I couldnt really recommend a short stay here more (short because the place isnt huge). The hotel itself has that old fashioned look without feeling run down, everything is kept very well. I only had breakfast and it was a nice buffet as you would expect, but nothing special. (Its not huge either due to the size of this hotel being rather small). And that last point leads me on to the only downside to this hotel- which is its lack of facilities and things to do. Now Im an active individual who this kind of hotel isnt really aimed at (I was there for a weddingbecause going back to earlier it is more for relaxing. Side note- it was the reception that was carried out in the hotels marquis and it was stunning as well as the food being incredible.
Had a family lunch in the hotel in a private function room. We have been to the hotel many times for lunch and the service is always excellent. The food is consistently fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful - it is always great to get such a personal service from the owners of the hotel. The hotel itself and the grounds are lovely, steeped in history and has a roster of famous guests, not least President Clinton. Will be back again for sure.
