In a Georgian manor that was the birthplace of writer Samuel Beckett's mother, this refined hotel is 6 km from Lucan Golf Club and 15 km from central Dublin.Warm rooms with wood accents and rustic stonework feature tea/coffeemaking equipment and free Wi-Fi. Suites add separate lounge areas.Continental breakfast is free. There's also a modern restaurant serving international cuisine and featuring a glass-enclosed dining area. Other amenities include a garden, and a seasonal patio with picnic tables.
During lockdown, when they were doing takeout dinners, they refused a gift voucher, saying that their “machine could not process them at the moment”They closed shortly after. So what really happened is that they gladly kept what was paid for the gift voucher, got extra from me for my meal.Nice way to run a dying business.
The building is nice. The heater radiator cover in room 8 on the 2nd floor fell down as I walked in. The wall supply socket came loose where the kettle is. The headboard has a piece of wood sticking out. Shower gel container in shower cubicle was empty. Right bed side lamp switch is defected. a handyman around would be very handy.
Such a lovely spot for a quiet meal. Food was nice and staff very friendly. It does need updating the outside needs some work.
Beautiful food and service excellent.Well worth a visit if you enjoy excellent food.
Food was excellent. It was really lovely time with my wife who was celebrating her birthday. The staff were very helpful.
Lovely restaurant, the food was amazing;Very nice room (suitespacious, immaculately clean and comfortable;Breakfast (continentalwas OK, simple and satisfying, but could be better (when compared to dinner service).Staff was excellent, professional and approachable.
The food is nice but its pricey for what you get. You cannot choose if you just want a starter and main on a Sunday as the price includes all three. A little bit underwhelming. Staff are so lovely however
As you walk through the door of the restaurant apart from the personable welcome in a nice setting and, whilst you may have had an idea of what you were going to eat, you are greeted with such wonderful aromas you then put that original thought on the back burner and eagerly investigate the menu!🙄 Wonderful restaurant!!
Food and service as good as I remember which us good, but nostalgia wavered me. Unfortunately its still a bit in the 90s but overpriced as the menu not up with the times. €150 for lunch for 3 is top heavy. Better value in somewhere like Marco Pierre white for at least100. Ill go back again in 5 years. Its a pity that there are no really great restaurants in the area. This is probably as good as you can get. Needs a wake up through and through
Stylish, friendly country house hotel and restaurant. Set in own grounds and just a short walk from Leixlip village. Very nice food and most accommodating. Couldnt do enough for our group.
This restaurant does fine dining and its not too expensive. If you arrive before 7pm, the early bird menu has some great offers. Every time that Ive come here I havent been disappointed. The food is always delicious. A bit fancy in appearance but well worth it. Staff are very friendly and the service is prompt so youre never waiting too long for the food to arrive. I would recommend their sticky toffee pudding as it is divine.
Nice hotel in a lovly setting with very friendly staff at reception only thing is the breakfast we were offered was slimy salmon on a plate or well nothing and sour grapefruit juice it was laughable when I asked for some toast the member of staff looked at me as if I asked for her first born and I work in a hotel and never would this situation happen other then that the hotel was nice
Easily the best restaurant in the Leixlip area. I had not visited for two years but while the place has changed hands in that period it was a very enjoyable evening with a friend of mine. It was lovely to see the restaurant nearly full with everyone in good humour and many delicious plates of food. I am a Coeliac and our waiter was able to guide me in the extensive menu to pick out many options. My friend had duck as a main and I had a lovely piece of lamb which was tender and delicious. The accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked and we had a full three courses. the staff were so helpful and the food was delivered to us in a timely manner. Along with sparkling waters and coffee our bill was near €100. If we had been a half an hour earlier we could have had the excellent value early bird. Superb all round and so comfortable settings to make the evening very enjoyable. five stars on this evening!
Rooms are clean and cozy. Hotel is quiet and staff are amazing! literally 1 minute to Lexlip and 25min to Dublin. Food was excellent. great value
Very good food. Staff friendly and efficient. Would recommend.
We had a 50th wedding celebration recently in Becketts. 27 people enjoy excellent food and service. Staff very professional and polite. Would definitely recommend. Fantastic setting and so relaxed, not rushed. Would highly recommend. This was our third big event there and it only gets better. Catered for children in such a friendly way, it was lovely.
Really good food, had the pear salid for starters it was full of interesting flavours.Had a burger for main and it was excellent.Staff were friendly and the place was comfortable.
Really enjoyed my visit to Becketts Hotel the resturant was very nice atmosphere lovely white linen tablecloths the food was exceptional with decent portions very good value in a lovely old world surroundings so rekaxing will definately visit again staff were very friendly well worth a visit lovely place to go for a celebration for a nice evening out.
We went for dinner on a Thursday night and the place was very quiet. I had rang in advance to ask if I needed to book and the lady I spoke to was incredulous that I would ask such a question. I booked a table for two anyway and when we arrived the place was lovely and warm. They took our coats and we took a seat (which were very comfortablein the reception/lounge area. We ordered a couple of drinks and after those I wanted another Heineken but the keg was tapped. Hop House it was then so. The food was delicious, starting off witht the basket of bread they give you. I ordered steak and my girlfriend ordered chicken. We shared a sticky toffee pudding for desert which was outstanding. The jacks were spotless. Im giving it 3 stars based on my experience over the phone before arriving and the fact that the keg was tapped. I will be back!
Excellent food and service. The staff are all amazing, making sure everyone has a special visit. They cant do enough for their customers. And you dont have to ask, they think of your needs before you do. 5 star 🌟 treatment with 5 star 🌟 service and food
Had dinner at this restaurant. Felt it was overpriced. Average food, 2 courses €25 each with 1 bottle of wine plus service charge of 10% - 90 euro. Wasnt blown away with this menu. On the plus side, staff were friendly.
Love this restaurant, the ambiance, the food and the staff are all excellent. Obviously its not a secret as the place was rocking this eve. It caterers very well to all occasions and we really appreciated being given a quiet corner away from all the parties. I can also recommend Sunday lunch, especially in the conservatory on a sunny day.
Good dining experience. Variety on the menu, whilst a tight enough range to ensure they can do it well. Parking is a bit chaotic, but thats down to the customers being no better than many Irish drivers.
Okay. Front of house great. Service at table indifferent and got the impression waitress working off a script. Asked how our meals were but whisked herself off before we could answer! Wont be back!
Went here for a meal with my partner. The food was fine. Little bit overpriced for what we got and there was only a few other people in the restaurant. Felt quiet and tired with a lack of atmosphere.
Lovely spot. We had a family lunch for 13 ranging from 80 down to 3 years old. Everyone was happy with the food and the service was great.
Lovely place but the service was a little slower than expected. The vegetarian options were limited and there were no vegan options on the menu at all. Food was very tasty according to each person on our table. I would recommend here for most people but if youre vegan Id go elsewhere.
Hi, I have been here a few times most recently last Thursday evening and found the food absolutely fantastic and the staff were like friends and really looked after us. My only regret is that I cant give them TEN stars. Thanks guys for a great night
We ate in the restaurant. I had purchased a Groupon and so I was pleasantly surprised at how many other diners were using this voucher also..from the time we went into Becketts go the time we left was a wonderful experience..staff were amazing and very professional and the food was just delicious. It worked out great value for money in a very relaxing atmosphere. I am already planning a Christmas family dinner there..cant wait to go back
Had a formal social dinner in the hotel at the restaurant. We were seated in the sun room overlooking the woods. View aside, I got their 3 course meal. I come from an asian country and used to flavorful food, the dishes I ordered were balanced in flavor. The beef rib I ordered was very soft and tender, dont feel like eating meat at all. The terrine, clean taste. Great service, wine glass always full, very pleasant dining experience.
Very enjoyable meal and surroundings lovely. I understand now why this hotel restaurant need to make reservations. Will call again. Staff very courteous.
Excellent food and courteous staff. A nice place to enjoy an evening out.
I only stayed at this hotel for one brief night so I have limited experience, but I enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend Becketts. The room was compact, but had high ceilings so didnt feel too claustrophobic. The room temperature was not too hot or stuffy, and road noise was not a problem—however I was woken up by people talking very loudly around 5am outside my door, but they were other guests, not cleaners. The bathroom was clean and had the essentials—except a toilet role holder. xD The patrons allowed us to have a basic breakfast (yoghurt, cereal, pastries, etcearlier than usual, and the coffee was good. I paid €3.50 for a coffee at Citywest Hotel the next day and it was so weak I think it actually made me more tired from how disappointing it was. The staff were also really friendly and chatted to us as we watched the tail end of England losing in the semi-finals. We didnt eat the food here, but the diners seemed to be enjoying themselves, some of which looked like locals; and a good rule of thumb for travelling is: go where the locals go.
I had a family meal in Becketts Hotel last weekend for a group of 10. The staff provided a warm greetings on arrival and inpeccable service. The food was delicious, each and everyone of us raved about our meal including the two kids. The pricing is modest and the building itself has plenty of character and beautifully decorated inside. Will definitely be visiting again.
Another visit, another great meal. We have a variety of dishes and all of them were very nice. The special was a monkfish and it was very tasty and cooked nicely. The duck also was tasty. Fantastic Italian wine. Deserts is something that can be worked on. I have ordered the same dessert as previously, but before it was fancy served on a board and this time it was just a big piece on the plate and it affects the taste! When on the board the flavours were nicely balanced and complementing one another, when on the plate the sweetness of a meringue dominate the whole thing. However, the main dishes are really really nice and the service is fantastic. I recommend it! Also the venue itself is very nice!
We were here for a family communion party!!The service was amazing, enough could not be done to accommodate us and especially the children!!seriously recommend the fish cake starter and the apple crumble was to die for!!will definitely return!!:):)
Great Hotel and Restaurant. I was here for a Christening and they couldnt do more for us, so attentive and ready to help. At one stage a waitress even took the baby so Mammy could eat her starter with 2 hands! Food is great, atmosphere is great, staff are great. Everytime I go here I leave thinking what an amazing establishment it is! Thanks Becketts!
Nice small hotel in a nice secluded location. Rooms were small but comfortable. The food was lovely and excellent service from all the staff in duty.
The food and service was very good, however, they gave our table a different menu to everyone else. When I asked if there were starters available, the waitress said not this menu, which is the lunch menu. Never offered a different menu. Every other table were ordering starters as I could hear, after I placed my order. After paying, I saw a menu on an empty table, confirming there was a 3 course menu with the correct date. I left feeling peed off because I went in for something nice but was given a basic cheap menu instead. was my first time to eat there. I disappointed we were lied to. Maybe the waitress wanted to save herself embarrassment or we looked like we did not have money.
Nice and cause place, everything I ordered was very tasty, very friendly and good service. They have some options for Vegans even desert. Price is range for such places, though service tips included in the bill, but in our case we were happy with the service.
The food is great but the menu has not changed in 18 months +I give it five stars because my mother would insist. Service is excellent.
Always a treat to escape for a night to Becketts Hotel. A short walk around the corner brings you to The Salmon Leap, where we always lunch prior to checking-in. The food at Becketts restaurant itself is excellent, with a great value early bird menu available too. Michelle and all the staff really make you feel welcome. Some tea, toast, and fresh salmon for breakfast and were away again, already planning our next stay.
Wonderful place, great ambiance, superb food and friendly competent staff! One of my favourite places to eat, drink and relax.
We went here for dinner on my Mums birthday, and everyone had a great time. I ate the ham hock and chicken terrine (pictured), the chicken wrapped in bacon, which was tender and juicy, unlike sometimes when you order chicken breast in a restaurant, and the banoffee meringue pie. Im normally a savoury type of person, but that lie was to die for. Also, we were very impressed with the service, particularly being a group of 8. Our starters came promptly, our mains arrived after a respectable amount of recovery time, as did our puddings (I say recovery times because all the portions were very generous). Our waitress went above and beyond, and had them put a candle in Mums pudding, and wrote out Happy Birthday elaborately in chocolate on the plate. The setting is lovely, the loos were clean, and my Mum had a fantastic birthday. Thanks everyone at Becketts!
Had a family dinner here of ten adults and a pair of babies, they sat us in a lovely solarium and let us while away the hours between the lunch and dinner sittings. The quick exit to the garden was a big plus for one of the babies who was a fan of the grass and gravel. The server broke a salt shaker while clearing the table, and I thought that was very considerate since its usually me who is the first to break something.
Serves top quality food. It was quiet the night we were there. I hope its making money. Would be a shame to lose such a great restaurant.
This is a very small hotel upstairs a restaurant, and it does have the feel of it being more of a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel with a restaurant! Staff were nice and breakfast was basic (no cooked breakfast as such). Rooms were small but comfortable and very clean. It was a good option for us given it was cheaper (although I wouldnt call it cheap!than booking somewhere in the city centre but my advice would be to book early and somewhere closer to town if possible!
Got a starter n not enough except 3 mouthfuls.my salmon was on the plate upside down n not sure if that was a mistake or what..service a bit thin on the ground. Overall good for first visit n probably wdnt go back.
Thats a very nice boutique hotel with friendly staff, warm atmosphere and cosy nicely designed rooms. The rooms are also very clean. Smooth communication from the moment we entered the place till the check out. The twin room that we had booked was upgraded to a suite just because it was available - lovely surprise and a sign of no greed. Wed definitely go back.
The wonderfully tall ceilings were matched by windows edged in ivy. Gorgeous grounds and simple landscaping highlight the historic nature of the building. The food was very good and the service interstellar. Most comfortable bed out of 7 other hotels on this vacation.
