Bearcat Stables - Stable in York, United States
Bearcat Stables was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Our two hour ride with Charlotte as our guide had incredible views. They did a great job matching the horse/rider based on personality, and it was so fun to spend time with them! Charlotte was so personable and easy to talk to, as well as very knowledgeable about the area, history, and the horses. Our horses were experts at the process, too. :All of the other staff we came in contact with were lovely as well. Don’t hesitate to book with them!
Loved our experience with Bearcat Stables. The guide was delightful, calm, and knowledgeable. The horses were gentle and strong, with unique personalities matching their rider amazingly. The scenes were gorgeous.
Meredith is a great guide. Fun to talk to and a good horseback rider. The trail is absolutely beautiful. I rode on Rose, and she was a sweet horse and a good listener.
Great place to ride. Super easy!
Last summer had a great 1-hour ride with my daughter and two grandchildren. Today my sister-in-law and I went on the 1-hour ride and it was a most unsatisfactory experience due to two horses that should not have been on the trail ride. Maple, a very fat female, did nothing but eat grass constantly, holding up those of us behind her and causing the riders ahead to have to keep stopping for us to catch up. This horse didnt even complete the trail;she stood in a field eating grass while the rest of us rode a loop around her. My sister-in-law’s horse Miles wasn’t much better. Neither horse responded well to pulling of reins or kicks. The ride leader was unconcerned. She said they fed the horses poor hay so they made up for it by eating lots of grass! One wrangler commented at the end of the ride that “maybe we shouldn’t t have put Maple on the ride.” But she apparently is a favorite of some of the workers here so she is favored over the experience of paying customers!
Had some great guides. Found prices to be fair. Would definitely go back.
Very friendly staff, Luke was our guide and was great. Very nice ride. Rode a horse named Maple she was a great horse!
Leeds and his crew do an amazing job. Can not recommend highly enough!
Our group of 7 had an amazing ride. The horses were great! Very well trained and good with people. The entire staff was very accommodating, knowledgeable, professional and fun. It was the highlight of our entire trip.
Luke was a great guide. My cousin & I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 hr. ride through the mountains. And the elk herd complete w/ mamas & babies was an extra added attraction. Highly recommend this stable.
Best trail ride experience in Edwards! The views on the 2 hour ride are spectacular!! Will definitely be coming back.
Wonderful knowledgeable staff. Very helpful with reservations. Beautiful trail ride with well trained horses. Visited May 2022.
Really picturesque horse-drawn sleigh ride followed by a flavorful, filling dinner. Our family had a wonderful experience!
Excellent, helpful staff and instructors—very thorough, perfect for our beginner girls. Beautiful setting. We will be returning for years. Our 7 and 9-year old girls loved the trail ride, and our 5-year old loved her "pony" ride and cant wait to come back and go on a trail ride. Couldnt recommend Bearcat Stables more.
Horrible experience. Owner Nicole was extremely rude and disrespectful. We had a huge group and were running 15 min behind which somehow soured the tenth of a mile sleigh ride around the grounds. Very disappointing. The friendly bartender, beautiful cabin and fire pit made the experience for us. Would not recommend.
We scheduled a sleigh ride and dinner this December 2021. Our family loved the experience. There is ample parking and as you walk down to the historic cabin, you see a campfire and two sleighs set up with two horses each. These are truly sleighs on blades, not a wagon. They are gorgeous and supposedly weigh 4000 lbs. The horses pulling the sleighs are humongous. I cant remember the breeds they told me, but they each weigh 2000 to 3000 lbs. You can order some fancy hot or cold drinks before the ride and enjoy the outdoor fire. On the ride they offered us blankets to put on our laps. The sleigh driver gave us a history of the Bearcat Stables, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Horses are clearly well fed and cared for. When we got back we had a catered dinner of a spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, tomato bisque soup, then the entry was a choice of some fancy baked chicken thing or braised short ribs, steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls, and berry cobbler with ice cream for dessert. The service for dinner was beyond good, the ladies attended you every spare minute and cleared dishes and brought you anything you needed. It was such a lovely evening and I highly recommend all you young lovers out there to take your girl on a romantic cozy date, you wont regret it. Marvelous business idea and great winter activity. They had Christmas music playing outside too. Just lots of thoughtful things put into this experience by the owners. Blessings!!! Hope you have great success!!!
Admittedly, I have not been to BearCat stables (yet). But I did meet one of the owners named Leeds while driving them to the airport, and had a pleasant conversation where Leeds showed he was a thoughtful, respectful, and empathetic......which certainly earned my future business. Cant wait to check them out!
Great ride.Awesome views.Great people that run it.
Great 2 hr ride - views were amazing! Gorgeous homestead with lots of history. Staff accommodating to groups or private rides - tailored to your skill set. Have a cocktail at the historical homestead and sit on the porch - definitely not a rushed experience. We are planning on doing a 4 day trail ride next year with this group. Great for young riders as well.
We had an excellent experience at Bearcat stables. We did the one hour ride, and it was just perfect. The check in staff and the guide were both very friendly. The horses were great, and the views were phenomenal. Highly recommend this place.
Amazing experience for my entire family. We had never been on a horse before and our wrangler (charlottewas exceptional! Myself and my oldest son were very nervous and she was so patient and kind. Beautiful mountain views and truly a unique experience!! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
We had an awesome Time!! Our wrangler was great! Beautiful views, and great horses. We will definitely be coming again!! It was a great experience!
Had a great time here. Everyone was friendly. This was my daughter’s favorite thing we did during our trip to Colorado. We did the 1 hour ride and it was perfect. Neither of us had ever been on a horse before but we both felt comfortable. The views were awesome. So glad we did this.
Great trail ride! Breathtaking views and knowledgeable wranglers.
My son and I did the one hour ride on july 1st. It was amazing! Both of us are beginners, but we felt so safe. The scenery was beautiful .It was a winding up the mountain trail. Everyone there was so nice. Cant wait to come back again.
Beautiful ride and excellent staff! Our wrangler told us fun info about the local flora and was super friendly. The staff at the cabin was spectacular as well. Kids enjoyed pony rides and meeting some of the friendly animals that live there. Horseshoes, cornhole and a big porch area to relax-something for everyone!
Absolutely awesome experience! Took a 90 minute ride with my daughter and it was so fun. Beautiful setting and Taylor was a fantastic guide. We will definitely be back!
Use the restroom before you get here, they have an outhouse otherwise. A nice outhouse, but its still an outhouse... With lots of scented candles.Short horse sleigh ride and then dinner. Sounds great, but in practice, it wasnt what we thought. The sleigh ride was short but not much to see. If you have little kids, they will enjoy it because the driver is engaging and answers all of the kids questions. The dinner was disappointing. It was a buffet style but the chef served it for you. Not sure if this is the norm or if it is due to Covid policies. The chef did not seem particularly pleased at having to serve everyone. I would say to add another person to serve while the chef cooks. However, they are doing all of this in a 10x15 space to cook and present food. Its quite cramped.Overall, the kids loved the sleigh ride. But the value for experience was pretty low overall for us.
Great place for a nice little adventure. I took my family of 5 (Ages 2, 13 & 15to this stable for the horse drawn sleigh ride dinner. Sunny and Butch were our sleigh chauffeurs that took us for a beautiful and relaxing scenic ride. Our guide was super nice and knowledgeable and stopped multiple times to provide info about the ranch. We then had dinner in the small but quaint cabin. Our server, Adrian, was great and attentive. The food was really good. The Chef served buffet style but still keeping Covid guidelines.Definitely recommend this for families or even couples for a nice date night.
Bearcat Stables was SO fun! 15/10 would recommend if you are in the area! Best horses and ranch dogs and the trail ride was beautiful! Nicole, our trail leader was amazing and made us feel super comfortable. Great views and even greater company!
Very nice and friendly staff. The horseback ride was great and since I was not an experienced rider the wrangler took that into considerations when matching me with a horse. The trail and views were very nice. The wrangler gave a history of the area during the ride. She also pointed out the various animals during the ride. I would go again if ever back in the area.
I had an enjoyable ride at Bearcat Stables today. I chose the 2 hour ride, which was just perfect. Making the reservation was simple, the check in process upon arrival was quick and simple. Each horse/saddle is equipped with a saddle bag to carry water and personal belongings. If you forget to bring water, they have water and soft beverages for sale. They have a restroom as well, clean but somewhat rustic. As an experienced horsewoman, I could see that the horses are well cared for and healthy. They are also well behaved and dependable so that a first time rider will have an enjoyable ride. The scenery on the ride is just beautiful! On the two hour ride one will ride on mountains, through an Aspen forest and on a plain with wildflowers. If you love experiencing the outdoors, while on horseback, you will love this ride! If you desire activity besides walking (i.e. trotting or faster), then this might not be the right ride.I highly recommend Bearcat Stables.
Great ride, excellent horses and friendly staff. Everyone was so accommodating. Highly recommend at least 2 hour rife or the backcountry trip!
Bearcat did a great job and the horses were easy to handle. My teenage crew choose the back country three hour trip in the nearby national forest and we were not disappointed. we all enjoyed the experience but would pick a different trail next time
This was the highlight of our vacation! We cant recommend Bearcat Stables or our wrangler, Charlotte, any higher. Our family loved every minute of our experience. Check in was prompt, friendly and covid19 precautions were in place for our safety. We were offered helmets which were clean and comfortable for peace of mind while riding. Our horses were calm, well trained and sure footed. We were given excellent instruction on how to control the horses at any obstacle. The three hour ride offered amazing views and varied terrain through aspen groves, wildflower fields, and mountainsides. We even saw a bear on the ride, which made it even more memorable! Charlotte was an amazing wrangler and guide and has the perfect skills and personality to work with adults and children of all ages. Five stars all around! Thanks Bearcat Stables and Charlotte for an unforgettable ride!
We had a great time at Bearcat stables! It was close to vail and was cheaper than horseback riding in vail. We did the hour and a half ride which was just the right amount of time for newbies! We climbed hills, saw elk and had a great view. I would recommend this outfit. The staff was great! Our guide was Kylie.
With so many stables to choose from I am so happy with Bearcat. Nicole was awesome with us...so patient and informative. The views were stunning and the ride itself was so relaxing. Highly recommend.
We had a great ride with Nikki this past Saturday! They do a really great job of being accommodating of different levels of riders. Our horses were matched to us well, and were in great condition. We did the more advanced 3-hour Backcountry Ride and had an absolute blast. Lots of switchbacks up the mountain that led to a field with amazing views where we got to run. We saw them taking out another group before we left, and they do a really great tutorial for beginner riders before putting anyone on a horse. Id highly recommend this place to anyone!
This place is great. We have horses and really didnt want to pay for a trail ride but we did and it was so much fun. Molly the wrangler is awesome.
Excellent experience. Warm & friendly folks. Isabella was an amazing guide. We did the 1 1/2 trip. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Great venue for the outdoor concert sponsored by the community of Cordillera. Bearcat Stables also has a very cozy bar with a Western vibe. Outdoor small covered pavilion for the band with nice size open air dance floor attached. View is looking north from the lawn seating area.
Pretty neat experience at the Bearcat Stables. Upon entering we were offered wine or hot cocoa. After we paid, we sat around a fire and met our driver. Before the ride, we took some pictures with the horses and the local stable dogs. It was only about 30-45 minutes total. We chose not to do the dinner option so we cant speak to that. The sleigh ride through the snow was a great family experience that I would recommend to others.
Super cool! My family and I did the sleigh ride and dinner. Super fun loop around the cabin property and the weather cooperated and it snowed during our ride. Absolutely magical! Dinner was delicious and the history of the cabin was interesting. Definitely will come back and well do a summer wagon ride too!
Views are magnificent! Nicki is the best! If you live mountain riding, this is for you!!!
Great people and horses! They dont always answer the phone, but they do call back promptly. Once on site the guides were all great. It was all female staff the day we were there which was awesome for my two city girls to see. Great views and a great ride!
My daughters (8 & 9 years oldand I went on a 4 hour trail ride. Molly was super helpful helping me decided if my girls would be better suited doing horse camp or a trail ride. Nicole was our trail guide and was awesome. We loved our ride. We will be back.
The guides and horseback riding were great. Horses were matched with the riders and the setting was beautiful. The meal on Tuesday night is a commitment you can not change your mind on. I did received confirmation on the trail ride but not the meal. Considering no confirmation and no deposit required, it seemed optional. We had a change of plans and decided we could not stay for dinner. That was not acceptable and that was made known The meal was very expensive for minimal options. No drinks included. No vegetarian options.
Horse back riding was very nice! All the people at the stable were very helpful! The only negative I had (which is trivialis that they offered us a bottle of water before going out and we saw that we were charged for them when checking out. Two of us in my group of three already had water so none was really needed. It just would have been nice to know that there was a fee. Other than that, great place to take a ride!
Fantastic experience. Both the owner and our guide were fabulous, genuinely nice and had tons of stories to tell. We took the two hour ride, which takes you throigh the neighbouring hills. There is a stoo for pictures. I travelled with my mother, who is from Europe, barely speak English and rode a horse for the first time. They helped her climbing the horse, put her right behind the guide and spoke slower so she would understand. Fantastic human beings. This experience is a 5* without a doubt.
Corporate team building event - 1 hour ride followed by dinner in the old cabin. Everything was fantastic. We had a few that had never been on horses before but the wranglers were great, as were the horses. Dinner was great, followed by a campfire. Everything was first rate. Highly recommend. In fact, were looking to join one of their 4-day rides from Vail to Aspen next summer.
