Baymont by Wyndham Sioux Falls Near West 41st Street in Sioux Falls

Wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond; its clear they work hard and care about their hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and there was a good variety. The pet fee was very reasonable. We stayed a week while we waited for our house to be ready to move into, and we would stay again.

Reasonably priced. Decor and facilities were a bit dated and the beds were bouncy which made for an interesting and restless night. Breakfast was ok, a couple warm items on the menu alongside several cold items. Checkout was easy and the people that worked there seemed nice and ready to help.

Very dated hotel that hasnt been kept up. Staff was cordial but not what I would say as hospitable as most hotels. Honestly the saddest hotel experience Ive had that I can recall. This is coming from a solo traveler arriving at 9:30pm after 12 hours on the road. My bar wasnt high.Fitness room has 3 machines and no weights - elliptical (didnt try), treadmill - doesnt work, bike - seat is loose, causing it to constantly rock back and forth as you crank the pedals. The light was off and appeared room hadnt been used in a while, and for good reason, given what Id found of the equipment. Room smelled bad. It was just a guest room turned into a fitness room, retaining original carpet. Water dispenser was empty, a single sad little towel remained for use on a large bakers rack. I suspect they picked the equipment up second hand from a gym, etc. Looked old and well used. No frills I assure you.First room I had smelled bad and generally looked to have 20 years of use on it. Fridge was beat up, towels were mismatched, etc. As I was changing for bed I noticed a substance on the draped linen at the foot of the bed. It was dark (as was the roomand I didnt investigate further. I pulled back the covers and there was hair still in the bed as well as on the pillow. So I went to the front desk and reported my findings and to their credit they gave me a different room. Next room was much nicer, even looked almost like a different hotel. I cant explain. Im not sure if all rooms are different and set based on whatever furniture the hotel operator was able to locate from an auction, etc. or what. Regardless, I was thankful. Air conditioning had a digital temp setting available instead of the hot/cold mixing knob found on the first room. Like first room, it didnt smell great, AC was off and it was stuffy. Turned AC on and down to 68. It ran for about 5-10 min before turning off, nowhere near the set point. So I turned it down all the way and found it would run again, and kick off again about 5-10 minutes later before coming back on in 5-10 minutes. Par for the course I guess.I didnt have high hopes for a breakfast before hitting the road. Expectations were about right. Looked like powdered eggs and some sausages, pancake mix/maker, cereal, assorted juices, and bagels. I snagged some eggs and sausage and cereal. Eggs and sausages were about level with expectations and because the milk dispenser was empty (and nobody manning front deskthe cereal was a bust. The cranberry juice tasted mighty fine.Last time I was travelling through here I stayed across the street at a well known brand hotel. Since I am alone travelling I figured Id save a few bucks and try this Baymont. Swing and a miss.
