Oldbridge House, Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, Drogheda, Co. Meath, Ireland, Drogheda
This center explains the battle & relevance of the Battle of the Boyne which turned the tide of war.
Great location to visit and beautiful walks around the grounds and down by the river.
Checked out the exhibition on the Battle of the Boyne and it was short and sweet. The audio visual at the end summed it up nicely and made it easy to understand. The gardens are very nice and well sign posted.
Visited on the way home from Dublin. Beautiful gardens and walks to enjoy on a sunny day.
We where there for a nice picnic. We chose to sit on a blanket under a tree, but there are benched and tables to use as well. You can get coffe at the Caffè , and there are clean and free toilets at the car park, whats in a one minute walk from Caffè and the picnic area.As I cant walk much because of disability, I thought the place was good accessible for me.The gardens are beautiful, at least I think they are.Ans the Museum is interesting. And I learned a lot about the history of the battle of the boyne.Museum has own toilets. (I have a kid, knowing where the toilets are, is important for some, i experienced.)
This place is a treasure. With plenty of delightful walks, short and long, this is a perfect place for an outing. There are a few picnic tables in the field near the main house and there is a basic cafe on site. The gardens are lovely and well maintained. The toilets at the car park were closed on my last visit but the ones at the cafe were open, and spotlessly clean.Go visit!
Great for walks and the children love the freedom but the caffe area a bit of a rip off OK for a coffee and a ice cream
Very interesting visit for both adults and kids, the exposition is clear and straightforward, there is a short movie to explain the history and importance of the site
Could be anything, from the outside its relevance to the 1690 battle isnt apparent. I did, however get a laugh when I saw that the battle of the Boyne signs are in Irish too! Wont please some but I found it mildly amusing.
Historic house and gardens. Lots of time needed to tour the grounds - and looped walks.
Enjoyable visit, staff all full of information about the battle and the building itself. Could have spent much longer there but unfortunately didnt have the time.
This place is fantastic, staff are very well informed and there are plenty of gruesome tales and gums and cannons to entertain the kids, also a movie of a reenactment of the battle and a laser show. Its inside a manor house and the associated grounds are open but safe and very kid friendly, great café and ice creams onsite.A great place for the whole family and a lot of people bring their own picnics too.Free parking and pretty kitchen gardens.Well worth a visit.
Lovely open space great for ball games, picknicks and walks. Nice cafe... Went on the tour, just displays about the battle, in about 4 rooms and outside area. (Not a tour of the houserevisited today and just walked around the extensive ground through wild flower fields, and along cannal beautiful
Oldbridge was excellent, I fully recommend it.I was there for a play in an outdoor setting where we sat on the grass. The weather was grand except for one bit of rain, it was all fine. Also they have a lovely cafe in which you can get drinks and pastries.
Loved it here, beautiful walks and a small museum. Nice cafe and good food
Great propriety, lovely well kept walled gardens. The exhibition is small but well made. Enjoyed especially the short reenactment movie about the Battle of the Boyne.
Very interesting and well executed exhibit about an important time in Irish history. Unique because its impossible to tell who the "good guys" are, but apparently this site has done much good for Ireland/Northern Ireland relations. About an hour will take you through the exhibit, but there are beautiful grounds to explore as well.
Besides the history of the site, its a nice place to visit. Its very well kept, you can also get your coffee, cakes etc, all in all a good day out for family.
All year round this is an awesome space to visit. Meander down from Drogheda via the gorgeous Ramparts walkway and end up in the visitor centre, its about a 5km walk but level all the way and well maintained. Stunning cafe to recharge and really well organised and hosted events. Loads of history in the area and the centre is excellently maintain and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. The pop up market had lovely stalls and divine food from the Boyne Valley. Well worth the visit!
The battlefield is well signposted and has walks. It is quite manicured though so you need to use your imagination. Unfortunately, some of the indoors displays were broken (like the battlefield animation map), but that did mean free entry! Cafe good; shop closed and empty of stock, alas.
Lovely place for a walk through the fields of wildflowers, plenty of erfect spots for a picnic, the coffee and snack van is handy and for something more filling the main cafe has a lot to offer with indoor and outdoor seating, the curated walled gardens are worth a visit.
Lovely place to walk around. Steeped in history. Nice and relaxing and if your into plant and an area for a nice picnic a good place to go. The museum and heritage and historic history of the the battle of the Boyne was very good and informative. They hav a excellent coffee shop where you can get some nice salads soup or a lovely sausage roll. A very good selection of cakes and treats including icreams cones etc. Nice teas and coffee as well as Earl Grey teas and royboss tea. Clean and tidy and friendly staff. I would highly recomend a visit.
Great place for a walk, be it short or long, you can also walk from Drogheda to here using the boyne walkway, its about a 40min walk. Paths at the park can get a bit mucky at times but well worth it. Good sized car park with toilet facilities. There is also a fantastic cafe in the grounds of the walled garden.
The grounds are beautifully kept. It is wonderful for people to find an activity or just to get time away. The day we visited we had perfect blue skies. The visitor centre is decent but I would like to see more there and for it to be more interactive. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Walked from Drogheda out to Oldbridge. Very enjoyable time spent in the gardens.
Very nice place to visit and spend time.Lots of green trees and wide areas of grass.
After we walked the green way we stopped into the Bramble cafe. The scenery is stunning and the food was just what was needed.
Great place for a picnic and walk. Free parking, toilets, cafe and information boards to explain the history.
Nice gardens and grounds around. I didnt go inside as the day was so nice
Good exhibition, not very long but interesting. Lovely walled garden with cafe next door. Walked around the grounds and out to the Navan canel. Great view out front.
We often come here on a sunny day either alone or with our guests from abroad. Beautifully maintained grounds and garden, nice coffee and food, space for picnic.
Excellent place. Could not go inside the house. One need to book ahead of time online.
Fabulous for a walk and a coffee beautiful gardens and estate. Lots if history too.
Beautiful place, self guide exhibition was very informative and the grounds were 5*
Got an recommendation from Lady in Newgrange, because we didnt checked online for bookings in it (it was random drivebut spent the day on battle of Boyne and it was amazing. Great surrounding for picnicking or just lay down on ground to stare in sky. Surrounding wall gardens are not big but big enough to sit and soak all the beautiful colours. Make sure you pay a visit to this place
Nice quiet pretty area. No bicycles u can enjoy a walk there. Very nice laid out garden the cast iron flower pots could do with refurbishing. We had coffee at coffee dock. Was hot but couldve tasted nicer.
Beautiful walk here by the river Boyne and surrounding area. Very dog friendly. All walks are free and a fine big free carpark.Well worth a visit on summer days.Very well maintained with a nice coffee shop and outside picnic areaVisitor centre is closed at the moment. There is a fee to enter the centre when its open. But not that expensive

Beautiful place great to see our history. Friendly staff , so relaxing , plenty to see & learn & enjoy a hot drink & food in the cafe & look onto the beautiful garden/ scenery , 😁
Great day out for all the family. Loads of parking and wide open spaces for the kids to run wild. Easy walk along the boardwalk into town. Lovely cafe. Fantastic walk along the river up as far as Newgrange interpretive centre.
Beautiful natural environment with lovely Forest, Riverside and Canal walks. Also there is an excellent visitor centre with a superb Restaurant and Audio visual presentation in different languages.
The centre has free parking and walks around it to do with the battle of the Boyne. You can step back in history and travel the same path as the battle its self as wee as go in the visitors centre which has videos and laser shows of battle. It is not expensive to go and see at only 5 euros an adult at the minute.
Beautiful place to visit, nice walks, visitors center well worth the money. Only €5 per adult.
Lov this place! Children and buggy friendly place! Worth visiting a museum and garden centre! Plenty space to play!
Beautiful place to spend a few hours. Lovely grounds to walk around and even learn some history
Very good value for money. Great walks and gorgeous food in Cafe. Been done up at the moment so some areas you cant access. Could be doing with more children facilities.
Spent a beautiful autumn day here. Thoughtful, creative, interesting displays that illustrate this powerful, fundamental moment in our history. There is a well composed mix of artefact display, light show, mannequins in uniform, information boards, illustrations and audio visual. A beautiful coffee shop in the well maintained walled garden is a welcome retreat to take in all the information. And of course there is the battlefield and the river. You can walk out across the field towards the river were once men fought and died. An impressive day.
Amazing place plenty of history you can visit the house take a walk on the beautiful gardenHave a restaurant to eat a meal or drink a coffeeThis place its friendly dog and you can do a picnicGreat place to chill and learn history about irelandMy mascot William loved this place lol
The Battle of the Boyne exhibition at Oldbridge combines many different attractions in one place. In the main house youll find waxworks kitted out in period dress and weapons. Afterwards theres the laser indicated historical timeline of the multinational battle. Finally you have the audiovisual reenactment. In the courtyard there are many carriage mounted cannon. The Walled Gardens are not to be missed, they are kept in beautiful condition and include a restored victorian peach house.Access to the Oldbridge Estate is free of charge as is the parking. There are optional self guided walks around the estate and the core battle site.We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Oldbridge.
