Batthyany ter Market in Budapest IX. kerület

This is a huge Spar and some more stores on the 2nd floor. If you are looking for the food market you need the CENTRAL MARKET HALL!

In my opinion, much better than Nagy Vasarcsarnok near Fovam ter which is much more expensive because tourists visit it more. In the upper part there is pepco and dm.

It is not the actual “Market Hall”, this is a fake location. Search “Central Market Hall” instead and it’s on the other side of River, far from this location. Don’t believe the other reviews because they reviewed on this wrong place, they should have searched and left the review properly and correctly. Irresponsible people!

There are no restaurants, it’s mainly small commercial shops

It’s a main enough tourist attraction that you should probably go to see it. However, expect throngs of your groups that make navigating the market a challenge. Busy is vibrant and fun. It’s what a market should be. Large groups that block paths, are not there to shop and have no regard for others is another thing. While the prices may be a little higher that other shops, if you want souvenir spices or a nice piece of fresh fruit for a snack, enjoy the experience.

This is the first place that comes up when you search for the market in Budapest this is a local supermarket NOT THE TOURIST GRAND MARKET.To find the main one type central market Hall!

Very disappointing, its only a supermarket and Chain stores

A lovely market place where one can buy food, vegetables and meat. As well as souvenirs, one can also eat local dishes like meat stew and chicken paprika.

Market Hall is one of my favourite place in Budapest. It is located in Fovam Ter and you can reach easily via metro, tram or bus. It is near the liberty bridge. You can find every food products meat, bread, vegetable or fruit. Also there are restaurants and souvenirs in the upstairs if you buy something gifts for your friends you can find anything with reasonable prices

The increased price its not justified. 5€ five years ago..7€ 3 years ago and now 13.90€. Food buffet its poor. Not recommend

Complete waste of time. It’s a supermarket and tour offices.

This may be a market hall but it is not THE market hall that tourists search for. If you want Spa supermarket come here. If not heard over the river. Search for the Central Market Hall.

Nice, feels good to walk around

Lovely market . Lots of paprika and Hungarian specialties sold there such as take runners .There is stairs there , it’s on 2 levels

On the first floor, you find some nice souvenirs at acceptable prices. Although very repetitive, they all sell the same things, worth visiting

I like spending my time at this place because there is a nice view on the other side of the Danube, where you can see the Parliament.

Small but efficient, local grocery store Spar and some small stores like Pepco and a coffee shop to drink at and have some cookies

Fresh vegetables and genuine hungarian sausages

Stopped in for some beer at Spar before heading to the hotel. Good assortment and friendly (even though I came in 5 minutes before closing, thanks).

Its way too touristy to be interesting, unfortunately.

Nothing to see here really. If you’re looking for the famous Budapest marketplace - this is not it.

I heard about this famous Market Hall in Budapest. We were on holidays from Australia so we went there and we were mesmerized and amazed in the quality of the fresh produce the fruit and vegetables and varieties of cheeses salamis meats paprikas . Hand crafts I loved the folk art stitching on table cloths and blouses. I was very impressed how very clean the market was. Budapest you won my ♥

Many people are reviewing this and posting photos as if it were the Central Market Hall - it is not. The Central Market Hall is a similar building on the other side of the river, where you will find fresh produce and restaurants. This market hall only has a supermarket on the lower level and a café on the upper level.

There is one spar market inside, drug store=apoterachy. You can find anythingelse and also there is spar on the go for eating fastfood is also good.

It’s not the biggest indoor market in town, but it’s in a convenient location (directly across the river from the Parliament, great for picturesand it’s very nicely maintained. You can go inside, look around and buy a small lunch which you can eat picnic style along the Danube!

Nice historic building once a market but today inly shops and restaurants even a bank. Lost its original function but worth looking at it if you pass by.

They have a Spar supermarket and a couple of other places. Its not massive but has the necessities.
