Bastion - Fine dining restaurant in Cork, Ireland
Lovely creative menu which certainly both surprises and delights. Excellent courses of fish, meat and veg. I will dream about the bread course!
A great culinary delight for that extra special occasion. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A must visit dining experience in Kinsale.
This is what a Michelin Star restaurant experience should be; subtle, sublime flavors with all local seafood, meat and produce with sensational canapes and amuse bouche. Wine pairings that complement and enhance are explained by a truly world-class sommelier.
Excellent experience, lovely dining and wine pairings
Absolutely oustanding dining experience. It lives up to its michelin star. The staff were outstanding and the food was absolutely superb with great flavour, texture and design. Highly recommended. Different class
This Michelin star restaurant is a place you must visit the food is exquisite the presentation the staff first class.
We dined at many fine restaurants along the Wild Atlantic Way, but Bastion was by far the best.
Amazing amazing what can be done with tasty plates of tiny tasty (did I say tasty already!:seasonal food
Was looking forward to experiencing Bastion and it didnt disappoint! Great food with excellent staff.
We choose this restaurant for our 30th anniversary. It was one of my top 3 dinner experience, ever. The wine menu was extensive and superb. Staff is so pleasant and friendly.Highly recommended.Enjoy
We ate in Bastion last night for our wedding anniversary. Was a very special evening, table setting was perfect, staff were brilliant and the food fantastic. 5 star experience, would give it 20 out of 20 if there were more stars to choose from.
We went for dinner last Saturday and as always were delighted! It was our 5th (or possibly 6th??visit and Bastion have never failed to impress. The food is sensational, the service impeccable - we never hesitate to recommend to friends. Great job guys as always!
Our first experience at a Michelin restaurant. Excellent food and superb service. Would highly recommend.
Sublime. We had the tasting menu. One of the best eating experiences weve had.
Impeccable service. Our waiter Rawle was amazing. Food was exquisite. Would highly recommend going for the wine pairing option. A great experience.
We recently moved to Kinsale and were excited to try Bastion. My wife and I travel a lot and love fine dining. The food at Bastion rivals or exceeds the 3 star Michelin restaurants we have been do.From the moment we walked in with a personal greeting down to the moment we left with a warm farewell the food and experience was top notch. We opted for the chef selected wine pairing with the tasting menu (which I understand changes frequently). Every dish we had paired perfectly with the wine and we were able to taste the subtle flavors in all of the dishes.Bastion is the best fine dining restaurant in Kinsale and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a special date night or a great night out with friends and family. Its absolutely worth every euro and the whole experience is very refined. We will be back with family and friends.
Absolutely an Amazing Dining Experience !! Tasting menu was Supberb and the flavours and presentation out of this world !!
Amazing experienceFood and WineThank you
Really lovely atmosphere very relaxed and chilled the menu is inspired Id recommend the matching wines they really bring out the subilties of the menu and an awful lot of thought has gone into selecting them. Its a great dining experience
A super restaurant with exceptional food such as cauliflower and caviar cheesecake, langoustine with horseradish. Looking forward to going back 😋
Without a doubt, an absolute treat. We had a wonderful evening and will remember the beautiful food and wine for a very long time. We opted to be surprised by each course, rather than have the menu at the beginning of the evening, and we are so glad we did - it added an extra element to the evening. Will definitely be back again!
I was so excited to visit Bastion on a trip to Kinsale 2 weeks ago and I was not disappointed!Let me just say the waiters and chefs are amazing! So friendly and informative, really, they make the place! The menu was an 8 course tasting and we got the wine pairing as well. The addition of the wine pairing definitely adds a lot to the bill but if you were to order the same amount of drinks it wouldnt be cheaper! The food was immaculately presented, so creative and minimal. From amuse buche to petits fours, we thoroughly enjoyed every plate, the use of flavours and the respect towards the fab ingredients is really evident in each course! My fav was the dessert of course, white choc mousse and passion fruit. Divine. Go here.
We felt very lucky to secure a reservation at Bastion, soon after the restrictions were relaxed. Our anticipation was completely justified. From the moment we entered, we were greeted with genuine and friendly welcome and shown to our table. The decor and ambience is perfect. From then on, the 8 course tasting menu, together with the perfectly paired wine selection left us in no doubt that everything here is of the highest standard. A truly wonderful experience!
From the moment we stepped through the door of Bastion last night to the very end of the evening, this was a flawless experience. We had the tasting menu, and each dish was explained in detail as it arrived. We opted for wine pairing, which was an education for the palate. Co-owner Helen Noonans wine selection brought out the subtleties of the dish they matched in a really exceptional way.Chef Paul McDonald is a culinary artist of immense talent, but what we both appreciated was the craft of his presentation and the appreciation for pure simplicity of ingredients. One of the outstanding courses, for instance, was a small bunch of locally grown charred sprouting broccoli, served with Macroom ricotta and a lemon and pernot emulsion. Perfect.A meal like this is expensive, but stays with you, as a fantastic concert experience or theatre booking will. This is art.
Superb, an eight course tasting menu each one delivering the WOW factor with flavours popping out at each new service.Gorgeous wine list and good value.Service top notch from beginning to end.Favourite course - difficult to say, but the baked Celeriac and Loin of venison were close 1st place. The final cheese board - stunning.I was sorry we didnt go for the wine pairing, it wouldnt have cost much more than what we paid for wine anyway. What a treat, hopefully well make it back sooner, rather than later.
Amazing food experience. I would strongly recommend this stylish place. The white wine from the Sicily was fantastic!
This is a world class degustation restaurant. The wine matching was astounding. It is definitely for a special night out, as the prices are appropriate, but not for every day. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fantastic. recommended for a special occasion
Excellent high quality fine dining.Choice of 5 course or 8 course tasting menus.Creative and skilful cooking, great service and good atmosphere. Very enjoyable
Superb. Service excellent. Exquisite tastes and flavours brought to best quality ingredients. THE place to eat in Kinsale. Paul and his team are doing a fabulous job.
Delicious food in a classy cool restaurant. Service was top notch and the wine flowed easily. One of the best in Kinsale without a doubt
Food was excellent. Staff were so professional and friendly. Lovely atmosphere to the whole dining experience. Will definitely be back soon!
Delicious food, great wine and amazing ambiance! We had a wonderful time at Bastion. Highly recommended to any visitors in Kinsale. Truly a pleasure!
Highly recommended! Wonderful food, great flavors and cozy location. Would definitely come back.
I went with my family and we had a fantastic time. The food was wonderful and beautifully prepared. The presentation was stunning as well. The interior is very cozy and comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant to any visitor in Kinsale. 5 stars!
Bastion is truly a dining experience. While Kinsale can be a rather expensive community to dine in, I expect Bastion to be near the top. Still, the experience and the meal are both excellent and definitely worth it!
Bastion never disappoints. Its never boring, nor does it settle for just being good. Indeed this is what you would expect from a place like this.Where many other places often get lost though, is when the essence is forgotten while pursuing greater customer experience: the food, and the tastes.Bastion still ventures through a modest "show" now and then, but what I love about it is that it doesnt get lost on them.Been to a few 1 or 2 star places that did put up a hell of a show, but in the end very lacking on the essence: the food and the tastes. Bastion seems to keep this at the core, and it never disappoints. Always a pleasure to visit. Thank you
This place is incredible! We had such a lovely experience here on Friday night, the food was magnificent. The staff are very friendly and attentive and have a good knowledge of all the dishes. I’m just disappointed I had not gone here sooner. Can’t wait to go back and try the tasting menu 🙂
Incredible. Our fourth time at this amazing restaurant and still love it as much. We had the tasting menu tonight. Superb. Not too much and great timing between courses. Helen and her team are still at the top of their game. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Beautiful food and exquisite service.
A lovely restaurant in the heart of Kinsale, with sumptuous food, great service, and an amazingly good wine list..! #yummo 😋
The food and service were excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the rabbit lasagne, which was amazing. This is definitely a place I would recommend to any visitors.
This an amazing restaurant! The food is sublime and the service is excellent. We make a point to eat here when in Cork.
My partner and I were visiting from the US and stumbled upon this absolutely fantastic restaurant. We had the vegetarian tasting menu, which was exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented. Loved every bite and every moment spent in this charming restaurant! Terrific, warm service as well. It was the perfect way to spend our last night in Ireland!
If I could give this restaurant 6 stars I would. Ate there 1/11/17 whilst in Kinsale for 3 nights. Everything about it was simply perfect. Small, intimate, first rate service, even the wait staff uniforms were exceptionally smart. Food was faultless and a taste sensation with every course. Lovely touch to have the chef explain the dish and have a quick chat. Best culinary experience we had in 3 weeks of eating out in Ireland.
Stunning experience. Incredible tasting course, beautifully paired wines, incomparable service. Pricey, but you know that going in.
Just home from the best restaurant I have ever eaten in. We only go for birthdays and you simply forget how unreal it is until you visit again. The food is just the best! The atmosphere is just so nice and the staff are the friendliest staff you could meet. The restaurant is ran with love! Keep doing what your doing and keep defending yourselves. Because your standards couldnt be higher! Thank you for an amazing birthday for the third time in a row.John & SiobhanReview from Feb this yearOne of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in! We visited there last September and it really was the icing on the cake. I think restaurants like this is just so so rare. Cant wait to go back.
Fine dining. Excellent food. We had a lamb and a beef main course and neither disappointed. Service was unobtrusive but lovely. Little touches, like the chef having a word with each table, made this a memorable meal.
Fantastic restaurant. The service was perfect. The ham quick bite was amazing, and the oyster haven was so unique. I am a huge fan of raw oyster and I totally loved it. I even wanted to order one more plate. My main dish was stone sea bass, which was cooked perfectly as well. Finally the dessert was chocolate fondant. Outside of the cake was very soft, and the chocolate flew out when the spoon cut through it. So good! One thing destroyed the romance was the noise. The restaurant was fully packed and some people were so loud and we couldnt even hear properly what the waiter said.
A chef at the top of his game. Amazing meal. Lovely restaurant. Terrific staff - and put simply, delicious and exciting food. This is right up there in terms of quality. Thanks again!!
OMG! We are self proclaimed foodies from Boston, Mass, USA. We have eaten at Meritage, O Ya, ... all the best. This was the single best gourmet level meal we have ever had. Every single thing was awesome, and the service was excellant. Well done!
