Basilica of St. Pius X - Basilica in Tarbes, France
Beautiful place. A bit on cold side when there. Capacity is 25,000, and as many less on my visit, understandable it was coldish.
Back in Lourdes again. The international mass here is amazing. So many countries represented.
A huge holy place to meditate and hear mass
Amazing building.Design well thought outAcoustics were good
There is not another place like it on earth its beautiful a must see
Absolutely studding architecture and place of worship. Open your heart and see what comes ❤
An amazing underground basilica.
Wonderful to attend Mass again in this Basilica
Amazing place. Massive and all under ground. Have to see it to believe it. Beautiful. Well worth the visit.
Loved it ,you have to experience it
The basilica might look weird, but once you see the beauty of it, its wonderful. An upside-down boat with the altar in the middle of the church. The international mass and the Eucharistic procession will happen/end here. The atmosphere is incredible, especially when its filled with 20.000 people!
Nice place and huge too.
Have been several times and it never ceases to amaze me. It is so big and hearing mass in different languages is awesome.
😇
Amazing worth visiting place. Intense experience, I highly recommend it. I even forgot my hat there and dont regret anything.
Amazing space of worship
Huge worshipping space for Catholic pilgrims.
Most beautiful church
Its a quiet and peaceful place not to be missed
Really worth to go.
Huge basilica but did very little for me, disappointed with the experience.
One the most amazing venues Ive been in for Mass, from outside you cannot imagine how large it is or if is even there but as you go down the walkway you come into a beautiful Church underground the size of a football stadium, acoustics are fantastic .
Attended the International Mass there last Wednesday with Ferns Diocese pilgrimage. The Basilica is beautiful
There is no describing it...you need to experience it 😇😇😇😇
Took my breath away. International Mass was beautiful.
Amazing underground giant church, with capacity of 20,000 worshipers, and the torches mass and walk was breath taking.
Awesome, Im blessed to be part of the Adoration
Magnificent place. Very huge. It fits thousands. The mass was subliminal.
Little bit cold feeling due to being so modern but at the same time the art is very beautiful and the architecture is unique. The organ and choir are beautiful as well.
One of the largest underground churches in the world!
A truly lovely place to spend time in prayer. I recommend that you visit with a church group. This is a beautiful Shrine of our lady.
In contrast to the midday warmth on the Pont Saint Michel, the gaping maw that is the entrance into the hard grey concrete of the subterranean Basilica Saint Pie X draws you deep into the belly of this colossal tomb like structure. At first you could mistake the huge cavernous structure for the setting of a futuristic sci-fi novel. As you pass the threshold of the main entrance the walls insidiously seep a breath of cool chilling air in to this dimly lit behemoth of a space. With a floor area of 12,000m2 or two whole football pitches, this immense feat of architectural magnificence can hold a staggering 25,000 people which puts its capacity on a par with the famous Plaza de Toros Las Ventas in Madrid. The walls are adorned with the Mysteries of the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross and the series "Bernadettes Way of Light". The ethereal faces of the long dead characters from the Old and the New Testament , apostles , martyrs, religious men and women, bishops, priests, missionaries, theologians and lay people stare forlornly from the hanging drapes, besieging the basilica’s visitors. When you feel the necessity to emerge from the cloying darkness, the curved ramp to the outside is like a tongue spewing forth its patrons to the light of the naturally lit world. Splendidly enjoyable.Open every day with the exception of special services.
The service of the Blessing of the Sick in this underground Basilica is the best of all the services on offer at the shrine of Lourdes for me. Its so uplifting and so brilliantly organised that it makes intercessory prayer so easy to do.
The largest indoor basilica at the Sanctuary of Lourdes can accommodate thousands of people with large screen every corner and plenty of chairs its good for mass goers. The time we went there is bad weather so its perfect inside. The mass was Italian but a translated in French and English. The best place for pilgrimage.
They have an international mass on every wednesday at 9 a.m.
Once you get over that architecturally its a massive underground carpark, amazing! Crazy acoustics, excellent pipe organ, always good music.
Very beautiful church with an amazing interior. Very spacious and has plenty of space for people with disabilities. Large space and beautiful because its underground. Very good location inside the cathedral premises.
It filled with over 5000 people but still felt as personal as a smaller chapel . Beautifully set up and peaceful
Capacity 25k is an understatement. It cpuld hold 100k if seats were organised. Good soumd system, good choir, eell orgznised. Volunteers are very helpful. Occasionally an odd rude volunteer. Love this place
Very stark and brutalist sort of architecture but has many wonderful pictures of the saints. Very different to a typical parish church but works really well for the big Masses that you get in Lourdes.
Funnily enough, for a brutalist bit of architecture, built underground, that halfway resembles a concert venue and a gigantic skatepark, it’s actually very impressive. The acoustics were great and the whole ambiance was very hard to define. Plus being underground and the temperature outside being 44 degrees, this was the place to be!
Like it or hate it, where else can you share Mass with 25,000 people at one time, it also hides you from the blistering sun. For me it reminds me of the old testament basic and awe inspiring, and learning more about it at every visit, a must see in Lourdes
The International Mass & The daily Procession of the Blessed Sacrament
Stunning as so large! But almost everyone was silent for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which made it very peaceful and sacred feeling.
This is a modernist concrete worship space made for the kinds of celebrations that are fundamental to a pilgrimage in Lourdes. A space in which the people of God can offer worship and sing praise. Wonderful.
A very special and rare infrastructure... Special means out of the world... I havent seen any place like this. Was lucky to take part in the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament..
Time well spent in this magnificent and holy place. Holy Week 2019.
Amazing underground space with pipe organ, central altar and side chapels. High-tech facilities available. Beautiful glass artworks along the walkways / walls.
Huge!!! Very well hidden structure but massive and well ventilated. Nice art rendering of stations and mysteries. Centrally placed altar.
An underground basilica that looks like a parking garage.
