Large church with a mix of romanesque, gothic & baroque architecture & several sarcophagi.
That’s history of Girona. Sarcophagus from III and IV century and much more. Must see it! Do not rush.
Beautiful and educational
Gorgeous Basilica to visit. Entry is combined if your Cathedral ticket. Very good value. The basilica is quiet a contrast to the cathedral. Very calm and a more traditional structure. Definitely worth a visit.
Its closed and cant find info on why or when it will open
5€ combined entry ticket for Sant Feliu and the Cathedral, worth it! The Basilica is a good first choice, really enjoyed it. The audioguide is free and works very well. Interesting history behind the Basilica Sant Feliu, incredible architecture, especially in the side chapel.
Worth a visit
Impressive architecture
Interior is not interesting, but free to enter
A beautiful basilica filled with history. We enjoyed walking through and listening to the audio tour. A must visit if youre in Girona.
i liked the basilica
Only seen it from outside, but took a peak inside. Not a big tourist on religious buildings but looked in great shape for such an old building.
Simple basilic but very beautiful room dedicated to Saint Narcissus
Second main Cathedral in Girona, it is a pleasant cathedral where you can take beautiful photos. It was closed when I went there. Almost in front of it there is a square where is located one of symbols of the city: Lyon Sculpture.
Included in the entrance ticket for its more famous neighbour , the basilica is well worth popping in to visit. Apart from being the citys first cathedral, it is ground zero for Gironas most famous legend, that of the Flies of Sant Narcís.
A neat little church in the gothic style. Some nice windows and statues. Theres an audio guide that tells some interesting stories about the church. It was very quiet - only a few other people were there when I was so I got a good look at everything.
Tipical Cathedral of the era
Wonderful church with an amazing ceiling and strong architecture.
Wonderfully maintained church
Monumental great building
Beautiful gothic interior with a truly amazing side chapel dedicated to St Narcis
Great for Game of thrones fans, where Jamie rose the white horse
Comes with a free audio guide. Very interesting display of ancient sarcophagae, with their artwork explained in the audioguide
Its beautiful specially when during the sunset when the light falls on it. Surrounded by lots of gelato shops, its a place to sit for a while and enjoy the surroundings. You can click the famous pic of girona onyar river .
Beautiful gothic cathedral
Absolutely impressive building. A must see when in Girona
Nice stairs to look at. Didnt climb because it was too hot and there were too many stairs. But nice to look at
Excellent historical basilica well worth a visit
This church is just opposite the bridge of Saint Felix, on the eastern bank of the River Onyar. It seemed a little odd that a basilica is smaller than the cathedral until I found out that historically this church housed the Diocese of Girona and therefore the main church in Girona until the construction of the cathedral. Much like the cathedral, it’s a lovely mix of Romanesque, Gothic and with a Baroque facade. Not quite a beautiful as Girona Cathedral, this church does have a few interesting points such as the 4th century sarcophaguses, an interesting alter with a statue of Saint Felix (I think), and the tomb of Narcissus of Girona who was one of the early bishops of Girona.Keep in mind that you can buy a combined ticket for this basilica and Girona Cathedral, also known as the Church of St. Mary. Although the cathedral is more opulent than the basilica, I actually found the narrative of the audio guide for the basilica far superior.Do not miss the Chapel of Saint Narcissus, which I though was far more beautiful than any of the chapels in the church for its stunning jasper walls.
This imposing basilica church equals the nearby city cathedral in beauty and importance.Located in a picturesque medieval part of the city, this church is Gothic in style with a baroque facade, full of statues in niches. The church is older than the cathedral and has also a slender bell tower and stairs leading up to its main entrance.
Beautiful basilica. Smaller than the cathedral but well worth the visit for the 3rd-4th century Roman sarcophagi. The audio guide is very interesting and extensive. A very good introduction to early Catalan history/culture and well worth a visit. The ticket includes a visit to the cathedral and is good value
Beautiful and as it was the festival of flowers even more so.
My cousins grandfather runs the place. Gave us an in-depth tour of the Basilica. Truly a hidden gem in Girona. Take the time to visit.
Beautiful basilica of Girona! Together with the cathedral, they dominate the skyline of Girona. Walk around the basilica where the Jewish quarter is located or go up to the hill where the old City Hall is and catch a glimpse of the basilica against the city as backdrop. You can also see the top of the basilica along the river.
First when we visited Girona with tour group we didnt have a chance to go in the Basilica. We were lucky to return back by train and visited the place. You couldnt miss it.It is unique historical and functional now place was built next to the oldest Christian church in Europe, there sarcophagus 3d & 4th centuries, one even has scenes of Greek Mythology.
The ticket for entry allows entry to cathedral too. Nice outside gorgeus inside
The joined ticket to the cathedral and basilica includes a very informative audioguide. The basilica is of course less impressive, but still a very interesting piece of history.
Great church. Do not forget to visit the walls.
Stopped in Girona on the way back from the Dali Museum. Wish we had more time to walk the walls explore the various churches and the narrow. Definitely worth a visit once you find the historic centre. A bit like Florence meets Spain with the bridges and houses along the river
Gorgeous with a bit of game of thrones tv history now thrown in.
Very informative tour of a nice....and very old Basilica. The tour was definitely worth it and I highly recommend adding this stop during your visit.
Free entry last Tuesday of each month (also the cathedral, the arqueològic and the art museum)
Old beautiful basilica
Versiones en inglés y español siguen -English & Spanish versions follow Magnifique Eglise de style roman (et non gothique comme dans certains avis), même si la tour est élancée, escalier magistral et sur la droite on remarque bien la tour de fortification, situé juste au pied de lOnyar et du pont auquel lEglise a donné son nom St Feliu ou Saint Félix en FrançaisBeautiful Romanesque church (and not Gothic as in some reviews), although the tower is slender, masterful staircase and on the right we notice the tower of fortification, located just at the foot of the Onyar and the bridge to which the Church gave its name St Feliu in Spanish or Saint Felix in FrenchHermosa iglesia románica (y no gótica como en algunos comentarios), aunque la torre es esbelta, la escalera magistral ya la derecha observamos la torre de la fortificación, situada justo al pie del Onyar y el puente al que el La iglesia dio su nombre a St Feliu en español o a San Felix en francés
Impressive. Must visit
Admire our ancestors perseverance
It is an enlightening and impressive place of interest as an example of pre-mediaeval religious structures.
Impressive place full of history.Be early. Parking might give you hard time
The basilica is very close to the bigger cathedral in the centre of the old town of Girona. Its possible to enter the basilica for an entrance fee of 3 euros, which is relatively high for what you get; the basilica is rather small and doesnt offer much that cant be viewed elsewhere in the region better.
Iconic skyline of girona so should visit. History is interesting, poor thing has been sacked so many times. A few good art pieces as well.
This basilica is beautiful, yet dwarfed by the nearby Cathedral (very impressive). Its worth stopping by if you have already paid the fee to enter the Cathedral which includes entrance to this basilica.
