Basil and Wick's in North Creek

Basils has changed the way restaurants work and it’s pretty sweet! They have a few local chefs doing popups in Basil and Wick’s kitchen that rotate throughout the week. It’s nice, it keeps the menu changing and the food options fresh. Check Basil and Wicks Facebook or Instagram page for the changing menus! The owner also makes her own ice cream! They offer takeout and dine in.

Awesome! Awesome food, great cocktails, cookies for dessert were DELICIOUS! Check the Instagram menus as this is a rotating kitchen, and it may not have enough options for some, but for us - it was great!

Beautiful place and the owner Jane is the sweetest! The food is great and its a real nice place to rent for a celebration! Totally recommend !

We decided to go here for dinner while on vacation because we thought it looked like a neat place with good food. Once we got there we were advised that their dinner menu changes each day of the week. Thursdays are burger night. They don’t own a deep fryer so French fries are not an option. They had 1 appetizer on the menu, 4 burger options and 2 salad choices. We didn’t have a problem with this until we realized that the salad options which were priced at an entree price came out looking like a side salad. A person in our party does not like burgers so chose the salad for dinner. It came out as the saddest salad ever. Some spinach, 3 carrot peels and 3 slices of tomato: No option to add chicken or shrimp or anything to give it more protein. The burgers were okay but the service was not. There were only 2 other tables seated and it took 15 minutes for our 2 waters and Diet Pepsi to come out to us. We saw the waitresses texting and rolling their eyes when we asked questions about the menu. I would not recommend this place. We went to Becks tavern down the road the following night and the food was 10 times better and we were actually treated like guests.

Limited menu but the food is very good & so is the service! When in the area again, most definitely will go again!

We are in town working on a new store. Basil and Wicks was recommended by hotel staff. We were greater at the door with "you might want to look at the menu, we dont have hamburgers and hotdogs. Not sure if this was meant that we dont serve your kind. Was slightly offended but it was late and we ate anyway. Food was good , staff pushed us out quickly. Will look for other places while we are here.

The menu is nothing like what’s offered on the website. We were super excited for burgers and sirloins but encountered bar food and Mexican items. The tacos were cold, and the service was spotty. We didn’t have a set waitress, and they barely checked if we needed anything. Not to mention they charge you separately for food and separately for beverages including non alcoholic??? Super disappointed!

Was less than impressed with the menu choices. The prices seemed high for the portions of food you got. The two separate bills for food and drink was off putting. We were offered drinks once than ignored after. The service was slow. Some of our food was clearly forgotten when it was brought out to us. We had go wait for them to be remade. The place was extremely quiet. A few folks out front, and no one inside initially. However, the other table that was seated after us seemed as they were treated like royalty vs us. Multiple people serving drinks, and food orders taken right away. Food was not bad, just not enough for what you paid for. Pretty sure we will not return based off this experience.

Great food and service! They also allowed dogs on the patio which was very nice. A lot of reviews complained about 2 separate checks for the bar and food but that is because they seem to have different restaurants rent out their kitchen, wasn’t a big deal at all! Toby and Rocky loved Basil and Wicks!

After a 9 hour drive through a storm we finally made it to Basil and Wicks. Where we know normally we can get a decent meal. However it was Kikis pop up. Well the menu was not what we’re expecting. Waited for a waitress, 15-20 mins. And had to ask for one.. meal came it was kinda warm. Sent it back waited 5-8 minutes and came back ,still not hot. Then we get 2 separate checks one from the bar and one for the food. This should be done by the owners and the pop up people. Very confusing ! The barmaid was awesome!! We left extremely disappointed and said never again.. Let me know when the puffer pond meatloaf is back! (Customer for 45 years)

Although I was a little shocked by the change I came to love it. The red wagon food had the best potato dish Ive ever had absolutely amazing! The manager was wonderful and the holiday shopping experience was great too!

The pop-up menus at Basils have made the best out of a pandemic that was VERY hard on a small town like ours. They brought amazing/different food, creativity, and a place for us to still congregate several days a week. Yes, that means the locals still LOVE going there mid-week :And Jane is a rockstar.

What used to be the best place in North Creek is nothing short of a complete disappointment. Pop up this, pop up that. No thanks. I have no interest in eating off of paper dishes and having two tabs - one for whoever is running the kitchen this weekend and one for the bar. The rest of the week when the locals would be there - nothing.....

I would have said that I loved it, as the food was good and the setting was very nice. However, the Saturday night we had dinner there, only 1 of the 2 people who prepare the Entrees was available. There were fewer menu items to be had. I am a Vegetarian and there was only 1 Vegetarian option. A table of 14 was ordering before us and there was a possibility that the Veg option might be sold out. We didnt want to order drinks unless we knew we were staying... Luckily, there was 1 piece of Veggie Lasagna left! And that was at 6:15.

Not the same restaurant as pre covid. Just be aware that they don’t have a full menu, we were there for the weather light menu which was emphasis on the light. Tuna tostadas were small tuna slices on a few chips. Pretty disappointing. The drinks were good.

This is a review of July 2021. This may have been a good restaurant but as of right now they are ‘running a reduced menu due to COVID’. They do not have a cook at this time and are selling things that can be assembled not cooked. Like nachos which were what my wife and I had were chips from a bag with a little cheese thrown on. Put in an oven to melt the cheese and then they throw a salsa on it and call it good. My daughter ended up with a hotdog and pretzels. Again out of the freezer isle. I paid $60 for less satisfying then a gas station. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars was the staff was great! It is running a full bar so maybe if your drunk enough you would be happier with the food.

Delicious food and great service. Seriously, it was service with a smile! The atmosphere was welcoming and the restaurant including bathrooms were clean. Did I mention the food??? DELICIOUS. My family and I will return on our next trip up to the Lake George area!

Been driving by this place for years but this was the first stop. Prompt, courteous service and reasonably priced pub fare. We had the chicken avocado sandwich and haddock filet with a few local brews. Great spot.

The pathway for the customer to their meal was full of safety and efficiency with regard to COVID19 precautions. The food was good, the setting was lovely. We would go back!

Inside seating now available! When last here 8/15 only outside dining of take-out was allowed. Good food after a full day of trail- work, and friendly staff.

Love coming here after a day of skiing at Gore. The pulled pork "cigars" are sinfully delicious. I dont know if these are their own concoction, but Ive never seen them anywhere else. Brilliant idea, really, whoever came up with it. They have a decent draft beer selection too, and the waitress weve had the last two times is very nice. Whats not to like? Good job Basil! Good job Wicks!

Festive atmosphere—decorated for Christmas. Friendly waiter, yummy food. We tried their “pulled pork cigars,” which were delicious and just presented in a cool way and duck wings (just to try them, and they were great too). French onion soup was killer. I’d for 100% sure go again😊 Do get a reservation, as it’s busy!

Awesome food and great customer service! The size of this establishment is perfect for big parties. Live music sounds great here as well.

Took my mother here for dinner Saturday night. She decided on the special and was told that they had one serving of the prime rib left and that it was an end cut. She ordered it and we had a cocktail while we waited. Drinks were not good.There was no bread or tossed salad included with their entrees. When we finally got our meals, she was extremely disappointed. It was very well done and tough.After some time, our waitress asked how her meal was. She told her it was horrible. I can not say enough good about how this was handled. She told the owner and had my mothers entree taken off the bill as well as free desserts. The care and concern about my mom was very much appreciated. Im sure that she will be back another time.

We were traveling in the area and came upon this restaurant. Great atmosphere and very welcoming. Kate C was our server who was personable and an excellent server. My husband was very pleased with the duck wings he had as an appetizer with a draft beer. We ordered the chicken parmesan which was well prepared with a generous portion of chicken breast cutlet. Just enough spaghetti and sauce to complete the dish. We had left chicken cutlet and had it for lunch the next day.Simply delicious. Truly a place to stop!

My wife, 11 y.o. daughter, and I had an incredible lunch at Basil & Wicks on Monday July 29, 2019. Rob from Revolution Rail recommended the place after our rail bike adventure and we could not have been more pleased. The hostess and server were professional and incredibly kind. The food was AWESOME. I had The Bacon Blue Burger and it was one of the BEST burgers Id ever tasted. My wife had the Lettuce Wraps and our daughter had the kids mac n cheese, which they also really enjoyed. When we tried to pay, their credit card machine wouldnt process our payment so the hostess came over and informed us the lunch was on the house! We HIGHLY recommend Basil & Wicks both for their EXCELLENT food & service. We hope to return their someday again.

Great for a local joint but it times can seem slow for people getting to you. The one time I did get the special the only thing that sucked was it was shrimp scampi and I only had gotten 3 shrimp. its not that I dont mind saying anything but I dont really like to not the kind of person I am other than that its really good.

We were so excited to try Basil and Wicks and it was a complete fail. It is poorly run and the food was bland and overpriced. We were a party of 4 and after waiting a decent amount of time, 3 of 4 meals were brought out to the table. It was then our friend was informed that they ran out of his particular dish. The waitress just handed him a menu and walked away. There was no apology, no offer to comp a drink for the inconvenience. It was mediocre at best, poorly run and understaffed. The dishes were bland and not up to par. It seemed like it was frozen food reheated. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi, it was 4 pieces of shrimp over elbow pasta. The shrimp had no color on it, looked boiled and had no garlic on it or the pasta. It was a truly disappointing dinning experience.

We went there for dinner 7/18/19. Very good service. My wife had 2 glasses house wine and I had 1 beer. I had the fried haddock, very good. My wife had the chicken and sausage pasta, which was good, but they forgot to put the sausage in it and when she told them, they promptly came and added it to her dish. We would give 5 stars if it wasent for that. Overall, with tip, it was $110.00, so this place, though very nice, is in the high price range for this area.

Consistently good food, great people. A regular stopping place on the route. Its rare to see a restaurant that keeps the same staff for 8 to 10 years. That is telling you something about the place and the owners.

Great food. This is our "special" place for celebrating special occasions. It is a bit of drive from our home in Tupper Lake, but the food is always worth it. Favorite meal: St. Patricks Day. Second favorite: any other day!

Montrealers on vacation. We waited nearly 1.5 hours to get what tasted like cafeteria food for over average prices. Although the service (other than the waiting timewas decent, the same CANT be said about the food. Very very disappointing !

Excellent food, service and beer. We sat outside and it was lovely. Great character inside. Upscale pub food that was frech and hot. Will be going again.

While on a long Adirondack drive on Fathers Day, we stopped here after realizing it was the same place we had dined 18 years ago (different name, maybe Caseys?on a ski trip with our 3 kids. We liked it back then. Not so much this time. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is fairly pleasant. It was not busy at all and we were waited on and served pretty quickly. But we were disappointed in our meals. My husband ordered pulled pork and said it was bland and just ok, nothing great; same for his french fries. The coleslaw on his plate was basically plain shredded cabbage and was in the tiniest container - the kind normally used for salad dressing! It was barely a sample, not a side dish! I had the grilled eggplant ratatouille which had decent flavor but all the veggies in it were very mushy, as if maybe they used frozen ones, not fresh. The exception was the onions which were nearly raw. The description said "served over baby spinach" but there was only a small amount of spinach next to the pile of veggies. My glass of wine was only half a glass - and it was not a very large sized glass. Probably all i needed but it seemed cheap for the $6 charge. Overall we were just very disappointed. Not much else was open in the area, but next time well just keep driving and choose something hopefully better. We are surprised by the many great reviews - possibly they do a better job during ski season??????

Nice atmosphere, first customers and greeted with such happy smiles from employees. Burger was juicy and cooked to perfection! Our family would definitely recommend!

This place has some of the best ribs around, usually pretty busy during the summer months, we sometimes go in the late summer to early fall as there are less families and more open seats! Really cool, local place in town besides the new Stewarts in town!

10 oz. Signature steak is awesome. Paired with beaver bite local craft beer...I will be back!!

I tried to call in an order of three dozen wings for take-out... Was told they were busy and that it wasnt doable. Disbelieving what I heard on the phone and considering that it was before 6 oclock in the evening, I asked again, when it might be possible to put an order in, and was told to call back in two hours. This is absolutely insane!The only place in town to get food after about 3 pm, and they cant handle three dozen wings?? Regardless how busy you are, it only takes about 10 minutes, at the most, to make them.For this reason, i do not recommend this establishment. I will continue to drive to Warrensburg to get great service and be treated correctly.I am a local business owner, and i will never step foot in your business ever again.

stopped in for dinner on valentines day on our way up to gore. it was very busy but they were able to seat us quickly. The service was good . the food and drinks were good .

Loved Basil and Wicks! Restaurant was very cool, and the food was great. Only negative was long wait for food, but our waitress kept us informed about status. Highly recommend!

Came here on vacation not expecting much but got way more then could have expected! Amazing beer, wine, drinks and the food was even better!!! The burger was cooked to perfection, I never ever get a perfect medium burger but they gave it to me the way I wanted, this is a place I would drive hours to go to no matter what! Do yourself a favor and come here u will not be disappointed!

Great service and they want you to be happy. They have a fantastic happy hour so much better than most places. Beautiful place.Whether taking in a beer during ski season as they are minutes from Gore Mountain which has skiing for people who either want to push it to the limit or just having a nice casual ski day. In the summer it is a fantastic spot to end your day have a great meal. I LOVE there chicken wings BTW.Just a great place.

Great spot for dinner if you are in the North Creek / Gore Mountain area. My wife and I had an excellent steak and shrimp dinner on a Sunday evening. The food was perfectly prepared, the service was friendly and the facility makes for a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

What a great meal! Tonight, 1/2 of our party had the meatloaf, the other half had the Scottish salmon. We all had happy plates. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, was a very large portion, had a wonderfully sweet glaze that really worked. Im told the meatloaf was very good as well. We are spending a few days in North Creek and Im looking forward to visiting Basil and Wicks again. So good!

Excellent fried haddock and chicken parmigana. Guinness was cold. Great atmosphere. Very clean. Would definitely recommend to friends/family and will be returning ourselves.

A North Creek Favorite! Always friendly service. Can get crowded at times during the peak of ski season but they handle it well. Great food and service. Always fun events going on.

Went here with a group of 14 people! Easily seated without a reservation. The food was great. I had the Nicoise salad, and had asked for dressing on the side, however it was on the salad. Luckily, it wasnt terrible with the dressing nor was it completely engulfing my meal.Not a lot of options on the menu for someone who doesnt eat pig or shellfish.Wa(i)ter service was a little slow. We were all able to enjoy a good meal and enjoy the ambiance and each other.They also have unique art works by local artists on their walls - which are up for sale.

Food was excellent! Huge portions. Cozy clean place. Staff so sweet and friendly. My daughter was chilly and they offered her a shall to wrap herself.

Outstanding Veggie BurgerThe veggie burger here is outstanding! We were surprised that they carried it on the menu, given its such a small town. To start, the pattie is mix of vegetables, not just a "bean" pattie. Its topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guacamole and mushrooms. The flavors mix wonderfully and the bun is great too! You cant go wrong with this!
