Casual, compact eatery with a mix of Thai & Vietnamese staples, including curries & noodle soups.
Great service, amazing food! One of the best places I’ve ever eaten at, and I’ll definitely come back!
We regularly get to-go orders from here. The food is always fantastic. The inside shows its age, but dont let that stop you from visiting.
Hidden gem. The minute I walked in, I knew I was going to be tasting some nice authentic food. Very causal spot and great atmosphere. The portion sizes were also incredible. First time I didny finish all my pho.
The food was so good. The service was excellent. Nice little quite place. You order your food and its out very quickly. Definitely recommend trying it if you have not already. If you have tried it then hurry up and go back 😁
I had Coconut tea milk and really enjoyed. The food really too healthy for me. Service was okay clean
The food was amazing! Highly recommend!!
Had the lemon grass noodles with curry beef .. Pretty good...Wife had the same but with chicken. The Thai Tea was great.. Little sweet.. But good..
Fresh and warm food. Loved the Red Curry Thai Rice.
Shrimp Fried Rice
Everything we tried was good they had an interesting assortment of Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese food will definitely be back stop by and give them a try
First there was today! Everything was delicious and fresh! The pho is really good.
We LOVE BASIL HOUSE!!!Food is always fresh and delicious! Yum-yum....
The main guy there is so sweet. The food is always good! ❤️
Food is delicious! Small family owned mom & pop so there isn’t a lot of servers but everyone is nice & polite…. ASK FOR FRESH RICE … the last few times I’ve been the rice has been way to hard….
This place is a gem in the dust and highly overlooked by people. I absolutely love their food.. Everything Ive tried, even the basic grilled dishes are extremely good. Ive had Thai all over the states and one of the better areas was in South Puget Sound in Washington State. I ate at one near FT Carson in Colorado when I was stationed there but it wasnt as good as this one in Texas City. Prices are great, portions are perfect.. Do not drive past this place, give it a try.. Have a Thai iced tea if you havent had one before. Ive met a handful of random folks going in there and its a family owned and ran business. Ive found myself dining in at around 8:30 and my wife and I were basically sitting next to the family that owns it eating dinner while they had their family dinner getting ready to close up shop. Awesome experiences, I love this place and only hope and pray they will stay in TC. Give them a try! You never know, Ive been an avid customer since retiring from the US Army.Thought I should add this note, My wife took my keys one night.. I wasnt aware and I ordered dinner to pick up before they closed. I couldnt arrive there so the owner offered to drive and deliver it to me at my house. Hes not a very talkative fella in shop but very kind hearted, so dont take that as a sign of being rude. He ended up leaving the food at the front door for me in several bags for my wife to grab on her way home.
This is absolutely the best Thai and Vietnamese food in the whole Galveston area. Worth the drive over to Texas city. I highly recommend the basil house lemon grass and also the yellow curry with prawns.
Hidden gem! Great place for lunch the Pho is definitely my favorite
Friendly Restaurant, we ordered Goi Cuon {Fresh Salad Rolls}, Pan Fried Dumplings and Pho Dac Biet. Food was delicious and waited very little for our food. Location is outdated but clean and has a small parking lot area.
Swift customer service and delicious authentic Thai dishes. I highly recommend the spicy Thai fried rice.
All the food is great!! The Soups and Pho plus the spring rolls are the best.
My first time ordering from the Basil House. My favorite is chicken Panang curry with white rice. I have had this meal at about 2 dozen or more Thai restaurants in the past. The Chicken was tender but the Panang curry sauce was nothing like any other Ive had before. It tasted more like a really spicy red cashew curry. More like Chinese food than Thai. I was not impressed.
Ive been here several times after hearing about their springrolls on Facebook & Ill definitely be visiting more in the future! Along with their springrolls I absolutely loved their Pho and boba tea! My husband and kiddo also love their dishes, especially the shrimp ones!
Husband and I came here for lunch. Wasnt able to take more than 2 spoons of the hot and sour soup. I was not for me. I ordered the pad Thai and disappointed is an understatement . I couldnt eat it. It was a soggy mess and tasted just like the hot and sour soup. My husband had a chicken plate and the chicken was burnt.
I was heading back to my hotel from Galveston and wanted Thai food and saw this described as a hole in the wall type restaurant. Well those are the best because the food was great. I walked in and sat myself and about 5 minutes later the one person working in front took my order. I asked for it spicy but not too spicy and it was perfect! The waiter was fairly friendly, not rude. Overall if you are looking for a spot to get good Thai food try this place!
I ate the vegetable medley with chicken and steamed rice. This is the best Asian food I have had in this state!!! I am a new regular now 😁
Best Asian cuisine Ive had in a long time and by far the best in its area. I highly recommend trying the creamy red curry with stewed chicken or beef.
Nice fragrant meat. However burnt. Not edible. Bitter taste. $31 for vermicelli "burnt meat" noodle added shrimp and egg rolls . One order of appetizer. So hungry and very sad. Tossing it to seagulls.
The food was great and the service was great as well. My first time with a friend and the prices were great as well. Not expensive. They give a great little soup with the meal.
Nice and cozy. Great family run place.A few dishes are true Thai cuisine, and good (they also got some Laos, Chinese and Hmong dishes).
I like the food but the portions aren’t good. I get the Spicy Thai Chicken with Fried Rice and it came with little chicken and a ton of rice. It was good don’t get me wrong but overcompensating the lack of chicken with rice bothered me.
Theyre food tastes amazing. We got Beef curry, Pas Thai & imperial rolls. Everything was wonderful.
Great food, reasonable prices. Spicy enough for all the flavor but can still feel your mouth. Drinks include Boba, milk tea, thai iced tea, and more all complement the meals.
Ordered food (via grubhuband didnt receive one whole entree, and missing parts of the food. Was told they dont even carry Peanut Sauce anymore even though its listed on their online menu on their website. Chicken satay just a dry meat on a stick with no sauce any longer. Very disappointing
We ordered a meal through the grubhub app. When it arrived we were missing one whole item and half of another. When i called, the man who answered tried to tell me that peanut sauce does not come with the satay skewers any more. Then said the other menu item was no longer on the menu and that I would have to contact grubhub because they were not affiliated with the delivery service. When I pressed him, he grudgingly said I could come up there to get the peanut sauce. We are never going or ordering from here again. Dont lie to customers and dont pass the buck. Grubhub however was very helpful in getting our refund.
Our first time here. Spent the day fishing and wanted to get a bite to eat before traveling back to Houston. Everyone was very pleasant And wearing masks. We ordered pho and it was delicious. The eggrolls were very tasty and crispy. We enjoyed our dinner. We hope to come back again.
Roaches. The restaurant has ROACHES!! Me and the wife went in one day to sit and enjoy a meal. Upon opening the menu 3 little roaches fell out. The owner/ waiter quickly squashed all three roaches on the table in front of us. He then proceeded to ask us what we would like to drink. We looked at each other flabbergasted and got up and walked out. He made no effort to apologize or anything else for that matter. Absolutely besides myself wondering how many roach infested meals I have eaten from there. WOW is all I can say. Will be calling the health department tomorrow
Finally went here after years of hearing good things about this place from my wife. Ill admit that I was always a little skeptical just because of the way it looks from outside. But, like they always say, you cant judge a book by its cover. Food was real good! I had the marinated steak over rice, it was delicious. And for a lunch portion, it was just the right size. My wife had the pho which she says was also good, but it was an overly generous portion as she wasnt able to finish it (she usually gets the lemongrass beef and raves about that!). Overall, food quality and price were right on.100% going back with my wife again soon!
Love the Pho and the Drunken Noodles. Husbands favorite is the Kow Pad Kra Pow.
Ive passed this place up for years. Then one day decided to give them a try. Wish Id tried them long ago instead of driving by.The food is amazing. Full of flavor. Highly recommend this place. Ive tried multiple items on the menue and EVERYTHING Ive had has been delicious. I usually call in my order for pickup. Service has been quick and friendly. Restaurant is always clean. If you havent yet, give them a try. Youll be happy that you did. Sooo worth the money.
Best thai food around!! Wait staff is a little standoffish but dont let that deter you. They have added Chinese issues to their Vietnamese and Thai menu. If you are feeling under the weather, order some coconut soup with tofu to go. Better than chicken soup to put you back to rights
This is truly an authentic experience when it comes to Thai food. I order take out almost weekly, and can only speak for the fresh salad spring rolls, yellow curry, and Thai tea. Amazing. All of it. Thats why I have a standing order. An absolute must to any order though.. the spring rolls. They are THE best Ive ever had in Galveston County. The restaurant itself is reminiscent of a 90s asian fare establishment. The lack of interior design is made for in the taste of the food. Quick, easy pick up and friendly customer service.
Very delicious Thai food. Not too spicy. I especially like the guava flavor candy they offer. I frequently order by phone and food is ready for pickup. However, they dont serve food until 11:30, although they are supposed to open at 11. Also if you order by phone dont assume food will be ready for you to pickup unless you specify.
Always enjoy our visits here. Good soups, especially good fresh salad rolls, best I know of. aka spring rolls.Grilled selections - noodle bowls are delicious and light. Never disappointed, but I do avoid the fish meatballs in some of their seafood dishes. Not interested in fish-spam.
Love Basil House. Everything on the menu is amazing. Wish the restaurant would make some updates inside but the food is on a whole different level. Yummm . You will not be disappointed. Try the Coconut Soup and the Pad Thai best ever.
Great Thai food! Ordered spicy fried rice, Lo me in noodles, stay chicken (which was the best stay chicken Ive ever ate), fried shrimp and soup. All was very tasty! The place itself is very simple, but food is great and prices are reasonable.
Right off the main road, this place has pretty good food here with very friendly staff. I had the green curry which was good. There is a lot of cross-contamination with animal products, so vegans beware. Still a good place to go for a plant based diet. They could easily step up their game and become an excellent place to eat.
Food was just ok at best. The place didnt seem clean. The employees were more worried about playing on their phones and sitting back kicking their flip flops off and putting their feet up on the chairs. I asked what levels of spicy they had (1-5, 1-10the waitress responded I have no idea, but do you want it spicy? Well it wasnt spicy at all! Definitely will never be back! I feel like I just completely waisted $15 on lunch!
Delightful lunch spot. Beautiful ingredients, perfectly prepared as simple but elegant Italian dishes. The crispy artichokes are amazing. The squid ink pasta with crab is fantastic. Great wine options. Lovely service.
Amazing Vietnamese food. Cheap and good quality. Very authentic. Had the basil lemongrass Chicken with pasta. Tried the ginger mushroom plate. Plus the shrimp spring rolls are a great way to start.
We tried it based on reviews, and we were sadly disappointed. The staff we encountered wasnt friendly or too customer oriented around 7 pm in the evening. However, that is not my reason for dissatisfaction. The food was subpar. All of the dishes were lacking real flavor. The satay was not good. The peanut sauce was the absolute worst I have ever had. And I have eaten some mediocre peanut dressing in my day and this was inedible. All of our food was covered in oil/grease. It was nothing like the reviews said. We will stick with Thai Cottage. Food is delicious and staff is helpful and polite.
