There were some very loud and inconsiderate guests. They were playing loud music in the afternoon and shouting, banging doors at 12 pm the 2 nights I was there.

Literally the most beautiful hostel I have ever stayed in my life. Would easily stay here again. Peaceful, clean, and wonderful service. Close to much dining and the town itself. I was sad I only stayed 2 nights. I met wonderful travelers here.

I was only there for one night, but it was pleasant. Check-in was somewhat late but not bothersome. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable (stayed in a 2-person room), and the bathrooms were well-sized and nice. The Basel-pass was nice as well, as we could travel Basel with public transport freely. The staff was nice, the hostel looked well-kept.

The staff is super friendly. The wifi doesnt work in the rooms. No electrical outlet in the top bunkers.

Left my wallet in the locker and the people at the counter helped me keep it, went back two days later and lost a hundred franc from the wallet.

Amazing base of operation to have in basel, right next to tram station and a lovely vibe to the whole place!!

This is such a beautiful hostel! I was really impressed with the rooms and the whole vibe. There were heaps of plants around the dining area and also in the bathroom. It was clean, the breakfast (although not freewas worth the cost. They had a great area outside to sit and chill as well. If I go back to Basel I will stay here as it has multiple hang out spaces, so it would be easy to meet people if you are traveling alone. The staff were lovely as well.

Very good utilities, kitchen has everything you could imagine for cooking. The vibe of the room and the furniture are awesome. It’s close to Basel SBB. A lot of shops nearby (Migros, Aldi, Lidlmakes it a perfect place to stay for a city break. The receptionist is a very kind person. 11/10 would come again!

I had a great 2 night stay at Basel Backpack. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm room, but there were only 3-4 women each night, which was nice. The roommates were quiet, clean, and respectful. The front desk staff was very friendly and I appreciated that there were amenities included that didnt cost additional money (locker/key, towel, tea/coffee, etc). My room was near the kitchen, but the kitchen was clean and quiet, so that was not an issue. The neighborhood was super cute (a cool outdoor warehouse courtyard kind of thing), with lots of options for food and activities nearby, including a climbing gym. The shower was great too, with a changing room outside the stall, and great water pressure in the shower. Thanks Basel Backpack!

A very nice hotel close to the centre and easily accessible through public transport. The place is very clean and has a small bar at the reception. Most importantly the staff there, specifically Stefan who was very welcoming and friendly made the stay there even more special.

Nice spot, friendly staff. The room was big enough for 4 persons. Sheets included. Fresh bread at breakfast. A relief after 2 weeks in Italy.

Very laid back and affordable hostel. Has a nice kitchen and a friendly owner. Im sure it would be even more enjoyable in a busier period than the one I went in.

Excellent experience. Good price and clean toilets/ showers. One of the best hostels I have ever been.

Too noisy. Crowd club and bar music just below your room till midnight. You can not have quiet night to sleep.

The staff were really nice and solved the issues encountered. The room was comfortable and fairly quiet most of the time, considering. Good facilities too, and free coffee and tea!The rooms could have proper blinds, some light got in but it wasnt a big issue. The shower curtains also arent long enough to prevent water from spilling out.

Nice, quite clean, staff attending and helpful. The corridors(floorsare mixed, but they have goodly closed women only rooms.

We had an amazing stay. The beds were super comfortable and the people who run the place are very friendly and helpful.

Pretty good hostel. Its not incredible, but at the same time I cant really find anything to complain about. Rooms are clean and have private lockers and windows. The lockers are of decent size and can probably fit a full 70L backpack (maybe a little more if you organize things correctly). The showers are clean, though all the shower heads are considerably calcified resulting in uneven water pressure, but its no big deal. It does have a fully loaded kitchen (utensils and everythingwith two septate electric stoves; albiet half of each stove doesnt work. It doesnt really impede cooking though because nobody ever uses all four heating spots on a stove at a time anyhow. Beds are reasonably comfy and sheets provided are alright. Each bed also has a little lamp and most have their own socket. Both entrance doors and room doors are controlled via electronic key. Ive downside I could think of is that check in time is rather late (~3:30pmThough, if you happen to catch some of the staff, theyll let you store your stuff in the locked reception desk area until then, so youll probably still be able to go out and about. And thats about it... Nothing spectacular, but certainly comfortable and gets the job done. Oh, and you might want to bring your own towel if you can, they ran out while I was there.

Clean, comfortable room. Ryan at the front desk was friendly and helpful at the reception. One thing that could be improved is the strength of the wifi in the building. Overall a positive one night experience!

If I ever find myself in Basil again I wont bother looking for a better place to stay. I suspect I wont find one. It is a very hipster hostel and there are quite a few restaurants around.

The place is clean and has a nice location. The staff are cooperative and nice also. but can be noisy and the toiltes are shared berween males and females which was uncomfortable

Basel Backpack Hostel is incredibly enjoyable to stay. The (sharedroom my friend and I stayed in was lovely, clean and the beds were decent aswell.The four hosts, who were running the hostel reception at the time, were really friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of tips (parking spot, floating on the Rheine river with one of their inflatable backpacks, free public transport, ...)We think their prices were more then reasonable.We only stayed in Basel for one day, which we slightly regret because... The city is beautiful, the people there are kind and respectful plus the whole town is well organized.(Kind regards, two students from Belgium)

Nice place with decent facilities, well fitted within the price. It has small kitchen as well. The living space is combined for 7- 8 people. Also , the owner is kind man.

Spent one night in the girls dormitory. Great place, very close to Basel SBB train station (10 min by walk). Really quiet and clean! The kitchen also was very clean and equipped with everything. Its a very good deal considering the prices in Basel.

The cheapest place to sleep you can find in Basel. If you travel in a small group(under 6 or 7 peopleyou will sleep with other people in the room. The kitchen is shared and people steal a lot from the fridge. There is slow wifi

Its a basic place, dont expect too much. The rooms are clean enough though. Washrooms are common areas. They dont seem to have gotten a handle of managing the place without staff on hand. Its close enough to Basel SBB though, which a great plus point. Rates arent cheap but then it is Basel! 😊

- good value for money- nice staff (speak German, English and French)- very cosy/ relaxing decoration- amazing showers !- double beds in the dormitories for the same price as a simple bedI also encountered strange people but thats always so in hostels I guess.

My guests say Hostel is ok.The brewery pub has the best beer in town.Its a pity its only open Wednesdays

It is a very nice area. you have a quiet trendy bar nearby. since going to a restaurant in Switzerland can be expensive, it was very useful to have a well sorted kitchen. unfortunately there was a spontaneous party in the next building. the host was very sorry and kindly put us to another very nice room. If you book a room, better ask what room exactly you get. They will do the best they can to ensure a good stay for you.

The accommodation is not expensive but the confort is at a minimum. The shared showers are ok. The shared kitchen could really use better equipment. Decent place for a cheap stay but not more than that.

Nice hostel to spend some time in Basel. It has all facilities: kitchen, washer machine, locker, a lamp for each bed and also a plug. It was easy to find and very well connected.

Liked this place very much: clean, spacious rooms and common areas; helpful staff; located within walking distance from the train station but also possibility to get a public transport pass to reach downtown easily.

Nice place, inexpensive and a pretty nice location, just a 10 minute walk to the train station. The beds are nice solid, wooden bunk beds with plenty of head room. Deep lockers, free breakfast and they give you a bus pass when you stay.

Liked this place a lot. Nice bar and breakfast area. Sanitary is clean and has everything you need. Located at walking distance from the station and main square. Grocery market and little Turkish store at 2 minute walk. It is a building around kind of a square where a few bars and restaurants and a local brewery are located. Nice to hang around. Staff is friendly. Payment with cards possible.

For this price in Switzerland its great! Also the stuff is very helpful and nice. I loved the experience staying there. Thank you.

Friendly atmosphere indeed, but take this piece of advice: if you arrive at the reception and find nobody there, simply go upstairs and look for staff around the kitchen area.

Fantastic hostel in a great complex teeming with creativity. Steps from supermarkets and train/bus station, excellent facilities, friendly staff, great wifi, and very relaxing common areas. Would definitely recommend!

A friendly guy welcomes you to the hostel and tells you something about the place. They have a really student feeling and decoration inside the place.They also serve local beers and y I u can play card games if you want.The rooms look nice and you have your own locker so you can store your stuff safe.It is certainly not a hotel but it is very very practical for the price you pay!
