Cozy, sophisticated waterside spot with a patio offering upscale bar fare & over 500 whiskies.

Fantastic location with good views. Good food and service.
Nice bar and friendly people!
Great place for Brunch/ light lunch & chilling in marina, quality food plus more
First timw here, food was good. Great attentive waiter Nevan. Good variety of whiskey to taste for whiskey lovers. Had a very simple meal salt and pepper squid which was great.
MoreA whiskey lovers dream stop. Perfect afternoon drink accompanied by some equally perfect food.Don’t forgot to do a walk through of the cellar and lounge area.
MoreGreat service with very knowledgeable team.
Excellent whiskey tasting experience. Nice cosy atmosphere and a plethora of whiskies on offer. Highly recommend this place. Cheers.
MoreExcellent!Great service, delicious food, a wide variety of drinks to choose from, whiskey tasting, and knowledgeable staff, ambience, and beautiful location - Bascule impressed us in all aspects.
MoreJust perfect! Great service, fantastic whiskey tasting and lovely ambiance! Nevan is a fantastic waiter and extremely knowledgeable, cant go wrong with him helping you out!
MorePossible my top venue in Cape Town. Every time I travel overseas this is my last stop before I go and my first stop on my return. Such an amazing selection of whiskey & wine and the service is un match. The views just round of an amazing experience every time.
MoreBest whiskey bar on the Waterfront.
Great Whiskey bar. Super nice basement/speak easy vibe.
Awesome spot, great views of the marina/waterfront and the mountain. They serve delicious tapas and burgers but their desserts and cocktails are definitely the stars of the show.Closed for the pandemic but theyre back and just as great as they were before.
MoreAlways amazing! One of the best kept secrets at the V&A!
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff.Beautiful views as it overlooks the Cape Grace Marina.
MoreDelicious food I had the burger and truffle fries.Staff is friendly ,barman executed the most delicious Rooibos whiskey sours. Love the outside deck!
MoreI absolutely love this place.Large selection of great whisky, and the people have such passion for sharing their knowledge and experience in the art of distilling.Make sure to ask for suggestion and talk about all the tasty surprises they have in stock :)
MoreLove that bascule is open again, great service and great restaurant. Please management bring back the Duck liver dish and the beef fillet in pepper sauce dish please!!!
MoreBest kept secret. R85 fish and chips. Wine tourist prices and pretty arrogant staff but beautiful food and views! Will be back.
MoreBest Tapas in Cape Town. One of the most beautiful backdrops of Table Mountain. The staff are awesome and very friendly. Great service and the food is spectacular! One of the few places you can smoke a cigar outside after your meal and enjoy it with a whiskey or espresso.Thank you to the Bascule team for always making it memorable.
MoreFrequently visiting this bar in the Marina of Waterfront Cape Town. Always friendly staff, biggest whisky selection I know of and a duck liver to die for.
MoreMy husband and I very much enjoyed our experience here, highly reccomend it to any whiskey lovers or anyone who enjoys harbor views with tasty food and amazing service. We found the Tapas portions of food were very generous and fair priced, recommend the Salt & Pepper Squid and Salmon Rosti. The atmosphere has lots of character and amazing views, exceptionally executed food, superior service and the best whiskey selection we have ever seen. One of the highlights of our trips to Cape Town!
MoreAmazing selection of whisky and whiskeys. If youre curious about the differences between single malt vs blend vs highlands and lowlands then Bascule is a great place to learn. You can also book a guide over the phone to help with your whisky journey.
MoreAmazing place with spectacular views. Great vine selection! It is actually not as expensive as the location might suggest.
MoreExtremely large whiskey selection from Scotch, Bourbon, Japanese, American, Irish and Canadian whiskies. If Im missing one I apologize. The cocktails, predominantly whiskey based, are innovative and delicious. They also make their own ginger beer which was on fire. Ill stop by eac h and every time Im in Cape Town.
MoreVery pricy for a student but excellent space to relax with very knowledgeable and professional staff. The burger is pretty good, but Id recommend getting hold of the mushroom sauce side with it. Be aware of the live music schedule as things can get loud depending on whos playing which may not be what youre looking for.
MoreTop notch if youre after a whiskey tasting experience. Knowledgeable staff to guide you through your tasting - done in a professional but comfortable & relaxed manner. Highly recommended to any whiskey enthusiast.
MoreNice, relaxed subtle atmosphere; friendly staff; good prices. Inside reminds me of being on a small sailing ship.
MorePhenomenal selection of whiskey. The self tasters are a really good idea, you get 3 or 4 themed tasters with tasting notes. Its an excellent way to try new whiskies.Ive been a few times and have always had a good time. The food is great too, nice bar snacks to go with your drinks. This place is a pay day joint only, or bring foreign currency, its incredibly expensive for locals, hence the 4 star rating.
MoreCool vibe.Great to see the cellar and all the liquors and whiskeys in the bar.Staff is very friendly, but lot’s of mistakes in the orders. Cocktails are good but not great. Food is tasty but not amazing.I admit I would love to be a member of the whiskey club, should I live in Cape Town.Had a nice night here and would come again.
MorePretty cool place. Also kind of uppity atmosphere. I can overlook that though because that’s just me. Nice whisky selection. Don’t order beer, they only have CBC. Also, a little advice to the kitchen, if you are going to make fried wings, please consider adding some spice or any kind of seasoning. There is nothing worse than chewing on tasteless wings. Might as well slap some spice and flour on a cauliflower and deep fry it then.
MoreWonderful whisky bar with an exhaustive selection of whiskies, including an extensive collection of single malts. I went early in the evening, and the bartender took some time to chat with me about his favorite whiskies, and the spot gradually turned into more of a lounge setting as the evening wore on, with lots of young people congregating in the large comfortable seats. Oh, and if you have some money to spare, you can actually rent a locker and store your whisky and glassware on site!
MoreExtensive selection of whiskies. Good atmosphere. I loved this bar when you could still sink into deep leather armchairs. The renovation took away some of the charm, but the great service, food and whisky still brings me back.
MoreAny whisky lover or connoisseurs dream!! The widest selection of whisky you will find. Just be prepared to spend some money because it aint cheap. They offer mini tastings which are quite nice as you can get to taste a few whiskies in a particular brand range or region. You can even enjoy a fancy cigar with your whisky! They also offer some delicious snacks and various other drinks. Vibe is very pleasant with friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Although they open at 9am, they only serve alcohol from 10am onwards
MoreHuge selection of Scottish whiskies with a large number of Irish whiskeys as well as international ones. Roughly eight outdoor tables with a similar number inside. Service was fine.
MoreFor quite night out this venue us perfect especially during the week. They have lots of whiskey options
MoreDespite the fantastic whiskey selection, the service is seriously sub-standard. We stepped outside to enjoy a cigar, only to find that you no longer offer an outdoor seating area (your establishment was always advertised as a whiskey/cigar bar). We were then rudley presented with the bill (not requestedwhile enjoying our cigars, with a round of drinks still on the table inside. We advised the waiter that we will be staying longer. He responded rudley as he wanted to give our table away and it seemed like he was forcing us to pay and leave (despite the tab being well over R1k). We then returned inside and ordered another round, only to again be presented with an updated bill (again not requetsed). At this point, feeling extremely frustrated, we left to enjoy our evening at another, more welcoming establishment.
MoreHuge whiskey selection, if there a specific whiskey you want your pretty much garenteed to find it here. This place is nestled amongst the private yachts so you feel very important having a drink here
MoreDefinitely not to be missed - Bascule Whisky & Wine Bar. Yes pricey but the view - the aesthetics of the Bar - the friendly staff are not to be missed. #inmyopinion they make the best Cosmos in Cape Town
MoreVERY extensive wine and Whisky selection. To be fair, it is mostly Scotch, but there is a good selection of other Whisky varieties as well.
MoreGreat selection of whiskies, jazz music on Fridays and tasty tapas selection
Fantastic decor and amazing selection of a whiskey. Whiskey tasting experience is worth every cent.
MoreOne of the premier whiskey bars in Cape Town. A favourite for myself, my fiancé and her dad. A tad expensive, but what can you expect from a 5 star whiskey tasting spot
More5 star hotel service with spectacular Table Mountain views. Watch the sun set over the waterfront harbour while sipping your favorite cocktail.
MoreLove this place and the whiskey selection. My credit card hates it. If you are into all things whiskey then you must drop by for a few quick ones.
MoreIt was a beautiful, sunny day in Cape Town, with no wind at all considering the time of year. The waiter was fantastic, and I was disappointed in the gin options, but I could not complain about the whisky. I went with the beer, an ice cold craft beer and this is definitely a good spot to sit outside, take in the scenery and enjoy the finer side of life
MoreBeautiful bar but shocking service. Ordered a whiskey and had to ask again after ten minutes. Ordered it with ice on the side when it eventually arrives its drowning in ice and had been sitting at the bar with the ice melting watering it down! Dont call yourself a whiskey bar if you dont know how to serve whiskey. Wasnt the first time the service sucked either. Wont be back
MoreNice pub atmosphere, great selection. Service was prompt and polite. Excellent place to end a day on the waterfront, especially if youre already staying at the Cape Grace.
