These 19th-century watchtowers next to an oasis are built out of coral stone & limestone.
Well restored, lacks any kind of context or signing. It is located at a walled site jn the middle of a neighbo.
Good historical place
Historical place.
This is barzan tower situated in um salal Muhammad. Its heritage part of Qatar museam
Beautiful
Verry nice place
Amazing to see historical places.
Silent , small area but nice . specially for photographic.
Its the one of the historical places in QATAR by the way they have a few of them....... So I recomend to see there but there is no staff who direct u for anything or even no a real toilet over there... If we think about the fifa 2022 they should care of there a bit more
Almost an abandoned place.
Beautiful site rich of history & true heritage of Qatar culture. The sunset view from the towers is breath taking and highly recommended to visit and enjoy the beautiful site view and experience the real history and culture.
Iconic monuments in Umm Salal
Empty..nothing to see non educational, not worth it wouldn’t recommend going
Wow 🤩
One of the historic places in Qatar which is still maintained by Qatar Museums. They are watchtowers built in the 19th century. The historic place is located inside the city and is very accessible. On entering itself there will be a guide who will show you around the place.
While this place is currently under repair, I was able to get in before it all happened. I and my mother were the only people there at the time. Such a peaceful place with an interesting story.Do yourself a favour and read about it before going as it makes the journey slightly outside the main city even more worth it. A great spot to pretend like youre an old world explorer.
Historical place, can spend evening tea time with family/friends.Climbing the stairs towards the roof top is an amazing experience. Worth visiting once
Its cool
Currently, Barzan Towers are under restoration and there is no date yet for its reopening.
Check for opening. Hours and visit at the time of our visit it was closed for renovation or rehabilitation of the site
Interesting spot with decent historical information. It was not possible to climb to the top of the towers when I was here.
The Barzan Towers were built in the late 19th century and were renovated in the early 20th century to serve as watchtowers against the incoming Ottoman soldiers.Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we couldnt get inside the towers. But I would recommend to visit this place.
Visit before sun set and feel peaceful.
Nice place to see if you love seeing old structures. You will have an idea how they live here long ago. The place is already furnished and reinforced to stand strong. No entrance fee. You just need to log your name in the book. A caretaker is always there to welcome guests. He speaks little english but is accommodating. He will guide u around and will open the buildings so u will have a chance to see the interiors. Lots of climbing and opening of doors toward the top. You need to be tall to see the surroundings when u r on top of the tower.
Interesting history. Very hot though. Would recommend going in the evening.
The place is little away from highway. Roads are there. Even cars can go. Quiet environment. Neatly maintained
I was there yesterday, but unfortunately it was closed.I cannot say more until i get a chance inside.
Barzan Towers is only one of the many heritage sites in Qatar that preserve the rich culture of the country. Found 14 miles out of Doha, in Umm Salal Mohammed, Barzan (which translates to “high place” in Arabicstands 14 meter tall.It was said to have served as a lookout to protect local water sources, and as an observatory to determine the dates of the lunar calendar - most important during Ramadan and Eid!Planning a visit? 19th century watchtowers and fort by the side of an oasis used for spotting the enemy and for the protection of oasis. A fine example of Arabian architecture. Historic place worth seeing.
Closed no signs nothing there to see. Exteemely dissapointing
Superb place visit. One of historical place
A beautiful fort with a rich history
Nice palace in Qatar
Barzan is good place
Nice place. No covered parking available. I dont think theres a dedicated car park anywhere, in fact.
These beautiful towers dominate the desert skyline. For more than a century, they’ve provided a vantage point for both scanning the horizon for enemies and tracking the movements of the celestial world.
Quite interesting to see these old watchtowers. You are able to climb the stairs inside up to the roof area for a good view. Not too sure if Id take young children as steps are quite steep.
Its a traditional and wonderful place for Qatar .I love this place.
The Barzan Towers historical place with Fascinating unique arabian architecture, an archaeological castle,Memories of old defense methods in QatarWonderful place to visit.Excellent Unique structure, Worth the time spent,If youre in Qatar drop a visit to The Barzan Towers is a must..!Here we go...some snaps from which I witnessed..cheers!! :D
This place are too good and hear have a garden
dry dry coated but once can be seen.
Theres potential here, its well maintained and can be developed further with additional information for visitors and may be add a facility or two. I actually like how low-key and quiet the place is.
Nice to see, if in Doha for a long time and bored with usual stuff. The maintenance could be better, interiors of the towers are dirty and full of bird faeces. The area could be converted to a public park. Toilets are available.
Good for one time visit. Historical place with good architecture. No parking place available there. Good for explorers.
Fascinating. Its feels good to visit a preserved historical place like this 😍😍
Nice fort to visit
the two towers with the arab architecture.and from the top view is awesome.they have built it with more techniques.one of the historical place in qatar. it’s located near from city area so everyone can visit easily.
Not an easy place to find however well worth the trip. I am not sure about the opening hours as I could not find any sign. Keep in mind that it can be really hot
Its one of the oldest buildings around, two fortified towere, has a Wikipedia article and is open to the public to explore. So in that way its almost completely unique in Doha. However its been recently rebuilt to the extent that you cant tell that its old and its also absolutely covered in bird poop. Also theres zero information on site about its history or that of the area.
Nice quick visit attraction. Small but nice to see it!
