Easygoing outlet serving hearty Argentinian comfort fare such as empanadas & grilled meats.
The food was "ok".We ordered out because I couldnt breathe due to smell of the cleaning solution that was used. The smell actually over powered the scent of the food at Barroluco. Overall it was super nice and clean. Ill be back!!
Found this place by pure chance, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt this is the best food ive had all year. These people know their stuff, and are super friendly. tecomended by 10 outa 10 dentists.
I saw this sign when I was picking up my contact lenses from the optometrist. So in love with this restaurant! The paella is so rich and comes with several small plantains. Highly recommended if you’re in the downtown area.
One of my favorite restaurants in Columbus! The food is always amazing & the staff here is super friendly
Just tried for the first time and was amazing! This is the carne asada and beef cheese empanada. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Definitely will order from here again.
Fresh food, but “spicy” sauce lacked spice and paella was a bit bland
I went for lunch and ordered the steak tacos. They were very good! My only complaint is that I wish theyd double wrap the tacos with 2 tortillas because they fell apart when I tried to eat them. The steak on the tacos was perfect though and their sauces are very good! If youre on a limited amount of time during lunch hour its best to order ahead online because they tend to be pretty busy between 12-2 during the week.
Barroluco is a Columbus gem!! Exquisite Argentinian food (great lunch special for us downtown employees!!!that is SO tasty every time. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Lovely outdoor patio just off Gay St in Pearl Alley.
I ordered their empenadas and they were sooooo tasty with that crunchy, flaky crust and savory insides. Their Spanish rice was sooo yummy, will definitely order from here again.
Full paella is a good choice and tasty
DISGUSTING I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. 🦠🤢🤮They are unsanitary. Please do not waste your money or time here. I was served a hair in my food and they refused to give me a refund. They had a truck this past weekend at the Latin festival in Columbus. I was excited to try their food and it smelled and looked amazing. So I got their sampler plate. I went to find a seat and started eating the fries, then the rice and that is when I found the hair mixed in with the rice. I am African American with medium length curly hair, this hair was clearly a long straight black hair, not my length and straight. I went up to go show them and ask for a refund because as you can imagine I felt sick to my stomach at the thought that I couldve eaten more and only noticed the longest one. However the woman working the front refused to give me a refund and accused me of it being my own hair. The best she said she could do was to remake it but not with the fries since I ate them already. I did not want another one because it would be from the same batch with the hair in it first off, and I didnt trust that they were clean and sanitary after that; they served all the food in the same container as well so the hair was actually mixed in with the entire sampler. DISGUSTING!!!! 🦠🤢🤮
Delicious food good for eat in or take out, vegetarian options, highly recommend any of the Paellas!
Only ordered food for takeout. Paella on point. Plantains also on point! No complaints with those two meals at all. Been multiple times already and will gladly go back. Check it out for yourself. Try not to park in the alley if you can.
Great food and has a cozy feeling inside. Food is fantastic - its very much comfort food but the portions are big enough to fill you up. Its a good lunch spot. The server forgot small things like utensils or sauces, so we had to ask for them, but she was sincere and professional about it, so it was no big deal!
This understated alley dwelling was a great stop for a good and fresh home cooked reasonably priced lunch of South American staple cuisine.
This understated alley dwelling was a great stop for a good and fresh home cooked reasonably priced lunch of South American staple cuisine.
I had the paella with everything and an empanada. Both were excellent! I will be ordering again
Food was delicious! Got the sampler platter and was able to try several of the menu items-- definitely worth it for the price!
Took a little while to get our food. Couldve been not too long of a wait, but smelling the delicious food while hungry made it feel longer. Highly recommended 👌
Absolutely great, hidden little gem in downtown Columbus. Have been meaning to try and was on a lunch walk when I took the plunge on their Paella lunch special ($5.50spanish rice, corn, peppers, beans, chicken, and chorizo. DELICIOUS! Cant wait to try even more.
Some of the best food I’ve had in Columbus, wish there was a location closer to me with better parking and I would visit more. Patio is super cute and great for days when the weather is nice
All four of our meals were fresh, cooked to perfection and so rich in flavor!! Would definitely recommend and will be back!
We had the BEST meal here the other day. Would highly recommend the carne asada and paella. Will be back ASAP!
So delicious! We got the sampler appetizer, Barroluco sandwich, and churchs. They were all great. Hidden gem tucked away, perfect for a bestie lunch!
Stopped into this place for the first time with a couple others and I’m so glad we did. This place has delicious empanadas, and the plantains….I took one bite and said I will be coming back. Food was great and the staff is very friendly, definitely recommend.
My first visit is one I’ll remember and can’t wait to go back. The service is great and the food is heavenly! Honestly the best empanadas, rice and plantains I’ve had in Columbus. Highly recommend!
Eating here felt like I was in another part of the world! Ribs are great. I had their signiture sandwich with beef. Food was flavorful and portions where decent. The sauces are quite robust /flavorful. Fries nice and crispy. First time having Argentine fair and loved it. You go up to the front to order.4.7/5
Excellent food and a plesently surprising find in downtown Columbus! The full paella has very generous portions and was served with a variety of spicy sauces. The churros were excellent, fresh and crispy outside, chewy inside. The dulce de leche sauce is a definite winner.
Barroluco sandwich was great. We wish you have authentic bread but it was very good overall. Milanesa was a bit burned. We like the alfajores and empanadas. The guy from Venezuela was very nice and friendly. We will come back!
Good flavors. Large portions. Was so hard to decide from the menu lol
From start to finish each time , glorious Latin American experienced delivered beautifully . The lovely server Carlos even helped me order my fav item off the menu which is shredded beef or famously known as Ropa Vieja with Fresh avocado , Rice , flavorful beans and fried plantains just like my family used to make them ! Wonderful experience and will be back to explore more of the menu.
This is a cozy hidden gem tucked away on Pearl St. Order at the counter and theyll take your food to your table. The interior is simple but dont let that deter you. Empanadas are the best Ive had in Central Ohio (cheese, veggie, beef). Paella is nicely seasoned. Milanesa was excellent for the price too. Well definitely be back!
Food was good. Staff was dishonest and shady. They have a “Get a Bottle with the purchase of 4 entrees” deal. We arrived with a party of 4 and were told we had to order an additional (unwanted or unneededentree to get a bottle of wine. We did…which was essentially knowingly a waste of $15.00. Upon sitting down, we saw the sign which confirmed it was supposed to be for 4 entrees. We brought this up to the waitress to try to cancel and get refunded for the unnecessary meal. We were told oh, okay, sorry. I won’t be returning due to the dishonesty and clear deception of their staff.
I first knew about Barroloco because of its food truck. The empanadas were so good. Now they have a little spot on Pearl Street where Arepazo used to be. I got to enjoy some of their paella rice and empanadas. It came with three sauces. It was pretty good. I recommend it if youre looking for a quick Latin spot to eat at in Columbus. Ill be back soon.
Loved this place! It was quick and delicious. I got the sampler platter and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend.
I have picked up food for others many times from here, and have always wanted to try it. Well guess who popped up on my food delivery app today? I’m so glad it did. Decided to get a sampler with the chicken and cheese empanada, plantains and rib. Got the order still hot. Drizzled some spicy chimi sauce and went to work. So good. The plantains were perfect, and I’m normally not a huge fan. Everything was on point.Don’t pass this place up.
It’s unfair how flavorful everything is. The portions are really great for the price. And even though I haven’t had this type of food before and can’t say how authentic it is, other reviewers seem to say it’s pretty authentic.I ordered takeout - ribs, paella, plantains, and 2 empanadas. It was all wonderful. I particularly liked the ribs - the flavor was unbelievable and no sauce was needed. The empanadas were also amazing and I could’ve eaten dozens of them lol.I always try to order things that I can’t make at home if I’m going to spend money eating out. Barroluco is exactly that and is going to be a frequent spot of mine going forward.
Ordered from ubereats each item was buy one get one free.It was alright, probably be a lot better fresh in the restaurant. Wont get it delivered again.
Good portion sizes even for big eaters (I eat a whole large dominos pizza by myself for reference and the full paella with one churro as dessert left me full). The full paella had chorizo, fajita veggies, sauces, chicken, and beans. I will only say this so that people can have a point of reference, but the full paella is so much better than Chipotles bowl. Better price and a deal too. Id say this is the best deal on the menu. It punches above its price point.Rib was seasoned and cooked well. All the sauces are so good. Adding chimichurri to the ribs made it 👌The churros were very crispy and crunchy, but still moist in the center. It only has sugar, no cinnamon but I still loved it. Similar to the ones I had in TJ Mexico. The shredded pork was a bit too salty on its own, but when mixed in with the rice, beans, and sauces, it was very good and not salty at all (in a good way). The fried plantains definitely helped add to the dish. I hate bananas but I love fried plantains. The "Ready to go" paella ($3 versionis good but wish it could have a little bit more seasoning. Highly recommend getting the chimichurri sauce and pouring it over. Maybe the restaurants Ive had a la carte paella, Spanish rice, and Mexican rice from were over seasoned, so it may not be under seasoned. Idk.I added photos for reference. Standard to-go fork and food service glove to show the portion sizes. Also ruler for the churros.Im from Los Angeles and nothing beats Hispanic food from there iykyk, but this place will definitely be added to my go to places in Columbus.
Absolutely a wonderful experience. A taste of home in Columbus. My family is predominantly Puerto Rican. Their empanadas were melt in your mouth amazing. We also had the Full paella with everything and it to was delicious. I definitely recommend coming here.
Really, really good!!! Small place and tucked in alley but that just adds to the experience. I can’t wait to go back and try some more food. Staff was very friendly and service was prompt.
Best Latin Flavors in town... such good atmosphere! Always good vibes!Treated Como familia! ...Beef Milanesa is my favorite 😋 😍 y la Sangria divina!
The fries are salty goodness, the rice as flavorful as colorful and the steak is yummy. Quiet atmosphere for a late lunch. One unisex bathroom down a hall by the kitchen. No Coke Zero but diet Coke is in the house.Alley entrance near the street.
Great food with lovely outdoor seating! No matter what you order here, get an emapanada to go with it! They are so tasty!
Barroluco is the only Argentinian restaurant I am aware of in the Columbus area. Ive had the paella so far and I hope to try more items soon and write what Im confident will be a glowing review. Available on most delivery apps.
DONT read this review. Just drop whatever youre doing, go here and order the empanada platter. Why? Well, if you enjoy crispy on the outside, fluffy-seasoned-clouds-of-heaven on the inside type things, youll love them. If you dont like happiness-inducing, good food artfully presented, then you probably wont like it very much. The food is fresh, filling and DELICIOUS. Top it off with a Jarritos and you have acheived self-actualization.Pros:-the food-the atmosphere-the staffCons:-not being able to take the chefs with you
The food is soooo delicious. Great size portions. Patio to eat on. Service was fast and friendly. They have margaritas to go. Easy to find parking at a meter or lot nearby. They do not have a parking lot for patrons.
All sorts of yes to this place. I ate there back to back days for lunch. The Piella was good but their tacos are out of this world. Dont pass on the chance to order them. Next.Level.
Great food and a really friendly and wonderful staff. I had the sampler as it was my first visit, and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the paella, its extremely rich and flavorful. Definitely going to get that next time. They are still working on the transition from food truck to restaurant, but theyre making great food and have a good atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit!
Wow, this food truck is incredible! They serve a pretty simple menu of South American favorites, and do them great justice. The paella is loaded with spices and flavors thatll take your taste buds on a journey. They have a selection of excellent chimichurri-based sauces that really elevate the empanadas, fries, or anything you want to put them on. To balance out the savory options, they also serve churros and authentic alfajores which are hard to come by in the US. Barroluco is an all-around excellent dining experience on wheels!
