Really good, birds are creatures of habit and choice so you cant guarantee what you will see but saw streamer tailed and vervain hummingbirds

Everyone in Negril/West Jamaica should try this! The place was easy to find as we drove there ourselves. Got a private tour of the various plant and animal species from a knowledge guide, and was lucky enough to get to feed many hummingbirds. Genuinely incredible!

Barney’s Flower &Hummingbird Garden is a must see! Barney is an amazing human who is willing to share his land and knowledge of both foliage and hummingbirds. The property is his personal land that he has been cultivating for 40 years. The grounds consist of tropical intimate walking paths. If you are patient you may be able to hand feed a hummingbird. Thank you Barney for making this experience beyond amazing!

Barney is a real person and walks you through his amazing grounds. The hummingbirds are fantastic (fed several by handand Barney is a wealth of information on hummingbirds, butterflies and all the beautiful flowers. Had a wonderful time. Highly recommend it!

Fun to feed the hummingbirds from your hand. Would have liked a tour of the garden, explaining plants names etc. A bit expensive… $20

Really a nice garden that has been build with love. A family of hummingbirds will cheer your day and give you an experience that will be remembered for a long time.

Keep your expectations in check..this is not a controlled environment where birds are “captive” in nature..you are still in the wild so it’s a bit of luck and patience, I guess? We were able to get a few feeds in, captured some nice pics and videos and definitely enjoyed the gardens- it’s beautiful. I don’t believe this is a $20 USD activity and I think it could be better priced at $10 for the value provided.Damian, who is the lands keeper, was very helpful, cheerful and kept us well entertained with conversation while we patiently waited for some action :)Now!! That all said, we have read other reviews here about a potential environment where the on-site animals (dogsare treated poorly/abused (allegedly). While we did not observe anything directly ourselves, we definitely heard some intense bouts of yelps from the house area which troubled us. We are dog owners ourselves and made us uncomfortable. The dogs on site are just lovely.

Lovely Gardens and vast array of birds insects etc to look at. Plenty of humming burds to see.

Booked trip through Barney , was such a lovely experience to see the hummingbirds in their natural habitat in a beautiful garden that Barney has created himself over many years. Can clearly see the love and hard work he has put into it. Lovely plants and flowers . The hummingbirds were amazing beautiful little birds and was surreal to be able to feed them. !!! Thank you Barney for allowing us to share your garden.

$20.00 per person so expensive for a small garden with the possibility of seeing hummingbirds. We saw one, and we hung out for a while. Guide was super nice but feeling taken advantage for sure.

We really enjoyed our visit and saw plenty of hummingbirds, plus Jamaican Oriole and Spindalis. One of us managed to get hummingbirds to feed twice on the sugar water bottle. We wouldve stayed longer but it starting chucking it down 😔

Absolutely do not recommend it. Price not acceptable. $ 20 per person + $60 taxi in more than an hour in the small garden where are more mosquitoes than hummingbirds. Better spend this money buying a souvenir mask supporting local artists than paying for taxi and mosquitoes bites at " Barneys hummingbirds garden"

I went there with my family on saturday 19/03/2022 at 10 am. The young Jamaican worker greeted us warmly and unvited us in. We asked how much it would cost just to be sure because on the gate it said Jamaican with with National ID would pay 1000 jamaican dollars. Others pay 20 US dollars. The two persons who accompanied me had Euros . We asked the owner Barney how much is it in euros. He said 18 euros per person. I said I am Jamaican and I have National ID to show. He said I didnt live in Jamaica and I would have to pay like the rest. When I refused to comply to unfair demand. He proceeded to be vulgar.. To use his words move your bloodkleet. Especially when he realized that rest of my company didnt agree with him.So to my German friend Barney ...30 years living in Jamaica has not taught you to be Jamaican. To be Jamaican is an attitude topped with warmth and hospitality. Discrimination is not done here. Travelling to another country hasnt made me less Jamaican nor you less German. You maintain all advantages if you desire to return to your birth country Germany. The same way I do in the land of my birth Jamaica.If you want everybody to pay 20 US dollars then use that on your websites and advertising but do NOT mislead potential customers and try to classify who the Jamaican are or are not. My forefathers and the Jamaican government elected by the people of Jamaica already did that!

Wandering through his garden and watching the hummingbirds was a highlight of our trip to Negril. I highly recommend spending at least an hour there.

Barneys is beautiful and the grounds are so well kept. Feeding the hummingbirds is one of the highlights of our annual trip to Negril!!

A small garden cared for by an eccentric old German hippie. Spendy, but something interesting to do besides laying in the sun. Learn little about Negril and see the national bird, the Swallow- tailed Hummingbird. If hes not in a rush to go somewhere, he may offer you some tea.

Smaller than expected but well kept. You see and if you are lucky and patient you may be able to feed them. Cost $20 tho, not really worth the cost.

Barneys garden is amazing! If you are close by you should visit him! I highly recommend it. If you wanna see a hummingbird, 100% you will. His garden looks like a botanical garden!Thanks to Barney, showing us around and explaining a lot! Greetings from Germany!

Very pretty garden. Only a few hummingbirds. My daughter did get one to come to her and feed it. But the reviews I saw were definitely over-rated.

Amazing experience! Saw many hummingbirds that are specific to Jamaica. My wife is an avid birder and got many nice up close shots. Was even able to get a hummingbird to feed from a bottle in our hands. Unfortunately theyre all on my wifes camera, but uploading a couple shots I grabbed with my phone.

This place is amazing!! If youre in Jamaica, you have to visit this place!It was a beautiful garden and they had a lot if indigenous plants that the owner brought over himself. They are so beautiful and he didnt capture any of the humming birds. They are wild and free! He just planted a beautiful garden with things they like and endangered humming bird groups inhabited it. You can even had feed them, straight from the bottle. They will fly right up to you and drink out of it. It was magical! Great for animal lovers!Barney is a great man and is doing a breath thing. He tells you facts and makes you feel at home.Definitely will be back!

Was a great experience seeing tropical flowers , butterfly and amazing hummingbirds that will drink out of a small bottle out of your hand!

Its a very serene space. It certainly is on the small side but the hummingbirds with two tails will eat of your sugary bottle. Fun stop

It was a neat place. Got one humming bird to feed out of my hand. We made a reservation through our resort but then when we arrived at Barneys he said he had no reservations! After our driver talked to him he did agree to let us in. He seemed irritated and not very welcoming at first. Kind of put myself and my husband on edge. After a little while he came around and lightened up and was very informative and pleasant.

I have loved hummingbirds all my life, a true experience to feed them and be close. My review would have been 5 if Barney himself wasn’t so rude. German guy who made us feel very unwelcome, just interested in collecting the high entrance fee of 19 USD/person.

Very nice place and calm environment for the humming birds and butterflies. We got to feed 3 hummingbirds writhing the one hour stay. You have to book ahead and they take only 6 people at a time

Went today, and what an experience. The guy who greeted us, I apologize I dont remember his name, was so informative. He was very polite and educated us on the different birds, trees and plants. One of the birds fed out of our hands a few times. An experience we will never forget. Thank you for allowing us on your property and be so welcoming!

Such a wonderful treasure to find. We saw several types of hummingbirds. The birds & gardens were beautiful. Its such a relaxing environment & experience.

Barneys is a beautiful little flower garden close to Ricks Café. There are some hummingbirds flying around that you get to try to photograph and even feed. The garden is small, but pretty, and well maintained. The welcome itself from Barney was a bit peculiar. When calling ahead (he insists on this, as the garden is so small and he can accommodate max 6 people at a time), he asked if our child was quiet, because he does not like noisy children to join. And when arriving the first thing he mentioned was this is not a childrens playground. We felt a bit uneasy because of these comments. Less welcome. He mellowed up a bit during the visit, perhaps because we have a quiet child.But all in all, having visited other gardens in Jamaica (can recommend Sun Valley Plantation near Ocho Rios), the place was a bit of a disappointment. Did not feel welcome, its a bit small, and not much is done in terms of tour (for instance, there was very little explanation about the birds or plants, just some basic info). For 20 dollars a person (10 for our son), we would have expected more. Wit the additional cost of the taxi ride there, we felt overcharged. Note: Barney accepts only cash.

Me and my wife went here. The person who greeted us and showed us around was awesome. He was really informative and accommodating. We arrived at 2:45 pm and by 3:40 pm Barney came and told us to leave. There is no time limit listed, but expect to be asked to leave if more people show up after you. For more action try the morning. The hummingbirds were beautiful to see. We had about 4 feed from our bottles.

This was great! We arranged pickup through our resort. Driver Leroy was great. We spent about an hour there, saw quite a few hummers, including the Jamaican national bird &!the worlds 2nd smallest hummingbird, about the size of my thumb! Got a glimpse of Barney, he waved hello. Dane was the one who set us up with our bottles of sugar water. I got to feed several birds!

Very lovely, kept, intimate garden. The hummingbirds were so lovely in all their glory. Definitely a safe, joyful experience. My 1 year old loved it. Suitable for all ages.

ANIMAL CRUELTY behind the facade of Barneys GardenMy wife and I were enjoying the peace and tranquility of Barneys Hummingbird garden when we heard Barney walk into the back area of his house and yelled at his dog then kicked it so hard the dog screamed in pain for a long period and continued to whimper. I couldnt believe it! My wife started to cry. I was angry and could not let this go. I approached Barney about his treatment of the dog. He said it was his to do with as he pleases. The discussion got very heated from there. He told me to leave and threatened to call the police. Sadly, this guy doesnt get it!I highly recommend that you DO NOT patronized this business. If you want to see hummingbirds, they are also at Just Natural right up the road. They too have a beautiful garden with beautiful birds.

Wow - What a beautiful place. Amazing looking flowers and of course many hummingbirds. They give you little bottles that attract the birds and they fly really close to you to drink from it. Very amazing place.Watch out - Its a little bit tricky to find. Keep your eyes on the left hand side of the road until you see a small sign on one of the wooden gates. Google Maps and GPS help a lot here.

If you are a bird watcher, this is a must see place in Jamaica! You get to hand feed beautiful hummers and they get right up close to you. For what you get, the entrance fee is not bad, and I’m sure it goes towards keeping up the garden. All in all, this was one of my favorite activities that we did during our stay.

Off the beaten track but well worth the effort to visit. We were blown away by the tiny Birds which we were able to feed by hand and the amazing Plants and Flowers.A small family run operation but very friendly and no more than 6 people are admitted st a time (by appointment/bookingwhich prevents the Birds being frightened and overfed. Just my Wife and myself visited today and as far as we are concerned it is the highlight of our first holiday in Jamaica.Don’t be put off by moaning American reviews, they think the World should revolve around them, we have seen plenty or rude, whinging ones here, instead of going with the flow and enjoying the Island experience they want it to be like Disney World.Thank you so much for sharing this special experience with 2 people from the NW of England.

This is a fantastic place hidden away up a back street! Get up close with the humming birds and see them feed from your hand. Highly recommended!

We made an appointment via email the day before we wanted to go and heard back a couple hours later which was perfect. From Bloody Bay resort area we arrived in about 20-25 min. There is a doorbell to ring to be let in, but our taxi driver Sinclaire knew exactly what to do already. The garden has several places to wander and about 3 to sit. There are a variety of plants and flowers to help attract the hummingbirds. During 45 min we were able to feed the hummingbirds about 7 or 8 times and check out some other birds and lizards. We were given a very brief tour of the area before being left to do our own thing. It was totally worth a visit, and we went in around 11am before it was too hot.

Beautiful garden in the West End of Negril, we were the first visitors on site and it was very quiet, a great start to the day. Barney was a great host as was the guide in the garden who was very knowledgeable on the plant species. We got a chance to feed the birds before other guests arrived. Spent about an hour there before leaving as it started to get a bit busy. If I visit Negril again I would visit but would definitely want to be there as early.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The humming birds are quite beautiful and a joy to feed. The garden is very small and unsuitable for disabled as it is not level and walkways are narrow. Toilet was filthy and a no go area. We managed to feed the birds, but a following group had little joy as the birds were already full from our bottles. Expensive for a 30 minute experience. There were only about 4 birds that fed from the bottle, the smaller birds kept a good distance. Although there are many negatives its still worth going as this is a unique experience. I have some amazing slowed down video but i am unable to add them to this review.

A lovely garden showcasing a wide array of exotic plants and humming birds. Worth visiting.

This place was def. an experience and one that should not be missed. Having to experience these hummingbirds so close was unique. We visited around 4PM and was here for about an hour. We later finished our evening by walking over to just naturals to relax and have some good seafood.
