The Summit to Paddock Shops 4100, Summit Plaza Dr, Louisville, KY 40241, United States, Louisville
Bookseller chain stocking housebrand eReader, plus a broad selection of titles for adults & kids.
Nice cafe to sit in but SONIA was extremely rude and unfriendly. I was sitting at a table and then decided to move (I assume I’m allowed to do soshe asked “why would you wanna sit somewhere else, you’re already here”. Extremely hostile, rude, and unprofessional. Bad experience.
Needed a book for my wifes 70th BIRTHDAY Present, and they had the last one 👍
Very comfortable and pleasant layout. Two floors, a cafe, great staff. Just wonderful. Provides restroom so one can visit from out of town visit cafe, shop, and read without rushing.
Mostly quiet place to study or read for fun.
Call ahead to find a book if not in store they will sure order the book for you
Ive been going there semi-regularly for over two decades; for the last seven years, I am there every Tuesday afternoon. The selection of books is great and so is the atmosphere. But what makes this location special is the people. Antoine, the recently promoted Cafe Manager, always has a smile and a friendly word for regulars. Ditto for Sonia, the "Den Mother,: who has been working there for as long as I can remember. I am a self-professed creature of habit. They each know what I want before I order. One day, I ordered something different and Antoine jokingly asked if I needed a doctor. The book sellers are also great at their jobs and really take the time to get to know you. Evan always says hello, Michael will find the book for you, not just tell you where it is, and Ellen has the presence of a librarian.A perfect example of what makes THIS Barnes & Noble different from the others happened yesterday. There is a young man whom Ill call Mitch. Mitch is an absolute regular at the store; Mitch is also "special." Yesterday was Mitchs birthday. Ellen presented him with a bag of goodies for his birthday, "from the whole store" as she told him. Mitchs face lit up and he proudly carried his bag around the store. You cant buy that kind of thoughtfulness and generosity. So go have some coffee and buy some books. When youre done, you can grab a meal at Purity Diner, just two blocks up the street. Happy Reading and Eating!
I dont like it as much as I used to. Theyve removed all of the seats for the past few years. If youre a patient of the nearby hospital and feeling a bit weak, or in pain, the only place you have to sit is in the Starbucks section, which is often full. Its especially full of teenagers during the school year, during lunchtime and after school, because its near a school. While it seems removing chairs is a company decision, it doesnt make sense to me to remove chairs by a hospital. Further, the whole appeal of B&N, years ago, was how comfortable they made customers feel, compared to going to other book stores. If I am feeling too much discomfort to really look around the store, then it doesnt make sense for me to look around the store. The last few times I went, I made my visit quicker than I had planned, and left. The very last time I went, Ill admit I brought in outside food, and I can understand if they dont like me bringing that in. Normally I buy from Starbucks. At the same time it was one of the days where the cafe was only half full and they couldve left me alone. I went home and ordered a book off eBay to make myself feel better. It wouldve been nice to go look at the comics section and pick up some Sandman Universe or something. Which is what gets me because I know part of the motive of removing seats it so that people will bring their books into the cafe and buy coffee. How is that sanitary? Youre not afraid someone is going to spill coffee on a book and put it right back? I think some have said the other motive is there trying to minimize bug infestation. Maybe get some seats that are bug proof? But I think they just dont want us hanging out unless were buying coffee.
Thank god for Barnes. This location in park slope is big and spacious and, per the usual, I head straight to the cookbook section downstairs. You can’t beat this bookstore on a hot day, rainy day, snowy day or any day. I’ve killed days of my life at this and the Brooklyn heights locations. I buy a book here a few times a year to “pay my rent” and I hope other people do the same. I know many, me included, have browsed and then ordered off Amazon because it’s cheaper and I don’t want to carry the books around all day. But I would be so sad if this disappeared - everybody go and buy stuff.
Overpriced compared to other Barnes & Noble locations Ive visited.
Very kind and caring staff at this location ready to address all of your needs and find you the books you need. Thanks very much!
Staff was very helpful and kind they put a book on hold for me and I was able to pick it up as soon as I arrived at the cashier. The space was cleaned and functional. And again the staff was knowledgeable and had answers.
I walked into the B&N and immediately went to the cafe since I walked with my son from the 4th ave Starbucks. I had a coffee already with me. As soon as a sat down this woman comes up to me and says I can’t bring outside food inside. I wasn’t even drinking or eating anything. It was just on the table. I asked if people didn’t just get books and sit to read. She told me that they had to buy something. So I complied and looked for the cheapest thing to buy so I could be left alone. I grabbed it and stood by the register. The only other customer was a man who was ordering his drink. She shouts at me and says I can’t cut him. I told her I was just waiting to pay and I didn’t cut anyone. She obviously wasn’t going to serve me knowing I wasn’t next. She kept going on and on about it loudly and the man himself said nothing. After I sat down and complied with the purchase, I heard her loudly discussing the situation with another barista so loud that everyone heard. I was humiliated. I could’ve gone back and wiped the floor with her, but I didn’t want to escalate the situation and make a scene. Believe me, I could’ve!! She is trash, rude, loud, and obnoxious. She needs to be fired or relegated to storeroom or warehouse work where she doesn’t deal with people. I think it was because I wear the hijab and she is a racist pig!!
Its a very good place to visit if you dont find the book youre looking for it probably does not exist 👽
Neighborhood institution. HUGE kids area downstairs and remarkably tolerant of kids sitting and reading for hours. Has an in-store Starbucks with seating. Sells gifts, magazines, huge book selection, some DVDs. Many events.Has escalator AND elevator to downstairs area. Store is fully handicap/stroller accessible, with wide aisles, ramps and bathrooms downstairs that include a changing table and handicap-accessible stall (cant vouch for the mens room). Has in-store stroller parking.Has added a MASSIVE collection of toys and board games. Family game night is all set if you decide to visit.
Big bookstore. Coffee shop. Nice selection of history and philosophy.
LOVE this place, wish there were more locations as they have closed so many. I can spend hours in this place.
Since I was a teen (Im now in my 30sone of my fave things to do has been to go to a Barnes & Noble, get a stack of books, purchase something in the cafe, and read for a bit. This hobby of mine followed me on a cross country move and until recently this was my B&N of choice to do so. But last time I went, as soon as I sat down, an employee (Im assuming a manager but he didnt saycame over to very loudly chide me and tell me I couldnt sit in the cafe. I tried explaining to him I was a member, I had made a purchase, and Id been doing this for YEARS with no trouble, but he didnt seem to want to hear it, and just kept chiding me in front of everyone else in the cafe. I left feeling very embarrassed and upset that a place that had once been a safe space for me to hang out had made me feel so bad even though - again - I have been doing this for over a decade. I will not be returning to this location if thats how theyre going to treat me. Its a shame because the selection is nice and the rest of the staff has always been kind to me, but I cannot stress enough how upset and unsafe this made me feel
Very cozy place to relax and read with convenience of Starbucks inside the store.
This review is based solely on my experience.I was having a terrible morning. I decided to purchase a book in attempts to redirect my energy.I walk in and I don’t know where to start so I approached Calvin, a store employee. I expressed to him that I was having a sh!tty morning and in dire need of a good read.Within seconds he recommended The Silent Patient. Can we say plot twist of the century. Thank you Calvin. I finished it in a day.
I love the bookstore found what I was looking for most is online ivrather go there ....
My fave place I love books.. This place is 10 out of 10
Wonderful place for my kids. They buy books and toys, gifts for friends. Fantastic!
I found everything I needed. The staff there is super helpful and know a lot about the authors and books as well!
Good. Nice place to relax, calm atmosphere, and not too noisy. There is a restroom, two floors, and a section dedicate for children. There are seats nearby the Cafe, but not too many.
Found here wonderful gifts and books. Nicely organized with lots of selections
The location is wonderful! I felt a bit nostalgic because its been a while since I had visited it.
My friends and I were in the area for japanfes (we’re all young black peopleand we stopped here to see if there was a bathroom. The line for the restroom was long so my friends and I decided to look at the manga section. I already saw the employee (young-ish white guy with shoulder length hairwatching my friends and I but for him to follow us throughout the store is embarrassing. And for this to happen on juneteenth? he should be fired
Great place for relaxing lots of books
Great selection of books magazines + toys! Love the kind + knowledgeable staff! Theyre so good with children as well as adults! Thank you!!!
A wonderful store to visit when your local bookstore doesn’t have what you need. Books, gifts, toys, and much more. B&N is as endangered as the smaller independent shops, and they all need our support.
Great place to hangout. Love coming here before work. Cafe area has lots of seating and outlets. Only downside is the escalators aren’t always working. Bathroom is always open and clean.
I havent been here for more than a minute and probably not to an NYC branch in a forever. It is spacious and well lit, however Im not so sure that it was a smart idea on my part to bring my toddler as that kid kept finding all the toys.I do like that toys arent all in one spot so it was easier to convince my kid to keep walking and exploring. Loads of fun books for kids from diverse authors of all backgrounds and works of life. Ill recommend the Local Interest section for anyone looking at or thinking of buying books as a gift for a loved one or friend. Ill be back to pickup a couple of books Ive marked down (you can also order online).
Excellent source for games, crafts, trivia, gifts, books and more. The staff are so pleasant and eager to help. We love our neighborhood Barnes and Noble.
Being a aggressive reader, BARNES & NOBLE is like a second home to me and the two locations in Brooklyn that I frequent are both impressive. With a helpful staff, it is well maintained and, because of their massive selection, its rare that I dont walk out the store without having purchased at least one tome of some kind.P.S. - As an avid traveler Im giving a shout-out to BOOKS-A-MILLION in the Mid-West, the closest similarity I can enjoy when in the TEXLAHOMA (Texas/Louisiana/Oklahomaregion.
Its fine. Most of the staff is helpful and friendly, but Ive had one or two that just did not seem to be in a good mood when I asked for help.
Honestly this place is okay.I’ve been here a couple times and it’s pretty peaceful. There are so many books and the staff is pretty cool.I would recommend it.It’s not like amazing but it’s fine. It’s normal.
Went with my son. Loves to pick up a few interesting reads. If we can not find it, staff will find it. Whether they have it in the store or can be purchased online and shipped to my home. Never a bad experience with their staff.
Quaint little Barnes & Noble on the corner of 6 St. and 7th Ave. Almost never that busy, making it very peaceful and relaxing. Despite being small, they have a great stock and selection of books, very likely to have what you’re looking for. Staff will definitely help you find what you’re looking for. Honestly, if the B&N at Union Square didn’t have what I was looking for, I’d go here in a heartbeat.
Staff is hit or miss here. Some staff members are super nice while others act like they hate their job. You can only seat and read at the Starbucks which I find is a way to entice customers to buy more.
Loved it and still Love it! I bring my 3 children & my 2 nieces & nephew and they always find great books or awesome finds. Clean & organized as always, super friendly staff, very helpful, cant go wrong. Definitely recommend 🤗
I have been coming to this Barnes and Noble location for years with my kids. They always loved choosing new books and then sitting down to read and look through some other books. But apparently if you sit on the floor and read Covid becomes super dangerous. Because due to Covid you cannot sit on the floor. I don’t think I will be coming back again, not until all these senseless rules and restrictions get lifted.
This is the bookstore I go when I am looking to buy any books. Always quite, well organized and provides hassle free shopping experience. Majority of bookshelves are located downstairs and they have wonderful setting in the back where young kids can read books in most comfortable surrounding. On the ground floor they coffee shop in case you need a coffee and cakes. One can easily spend few hours in this Barnes and Noble.
I love this bookstore, quiet, clean, safe, fully stocked shelves and the staff is always willing to help....
This morning my son and I went to this location to pick up Pokémon cards like we do any other weekend. There is a limit of 2 per a customer. After telling William my son would be getting 2 packs he told me it needed to be on a different card. I said sure no problem. Then he says “he is too young to purchase Pokémon cards on his own”. I reminded him what the company policy is and that there is no age requirement for purchasing cards nor do they require a separate card to purchase in. He said it doesn’t matter and that he won’t be selling us anymore cards. My son begins to cry because of this. Another employee then tells me “I’m really sorry about this. Sometimes Will is not in a good mood.” I was infuriated. I couldn’t believe this happened. I immediately reported it to corporate and will be following up until he is reprimanded and goes through customer service training. There is no way ever someone should be treated like this. Especially a child.
Amazing! I enjoyed my time here, shopping, reading, and writing. The cafe was busy but awesome! Great seating, friendly staff, tasty drinks. The BN staff was mostly okay- the manager on the register got nasty with one of the cashiers, and I almost had to read him for points!
I have been going here since I was in High School. Its stayed the same in that the area and organization of the books and genres are still held up well. Its clean, the staff is friendly too. I enjoyed sitting in a corner, reading, and then eventually getting old enough to be a volunteer at the hospital across the street. It is still great.
Very nice decor. Umm its very nice inside great places to sit and read. Theres a guard at the front to make you feel safe. All types of books a very well rounded selection of books to choose or to pursue through. The cafe is very nice as well. But the manager is kind of non understanding. Told me I couldnt take pictures or video because Barnes n nobles are a private company. Well I did like the store not the manager at all.. overly great store. Enjoy....
This place is love. I love to go there on my weekend.
Fantastic store, large amount of books and super sweet staff. We love the location (right off 7th and perfect programs.
