C. Acera del Darro, 62, 18006 Granada, Spain, Granada
Across from El Corte Inglés shopping mall, this upmarket hotel is also an 8-minute walk from the Palacio de Congresos and 4 km from the Alhambra, an iconic Moorish palace complex.Modern rooms and suites offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and parquet floors. Upgraded rooms add pull-out sofas, individually styled decor and/or terraces. Upgraded suites feature separate living areas and whirlpool tubs. Some quarters have Alhambra views. Room service is available.A trendy restaurant with a vibrant bar and cafe offers regional cuisine and panoramic views. There's also a terrace with a snack bar and an outdoor pool, as well as a gym.
A hotel that fulfils its function adequately. Decor is rather bling, in a faded 1980s way. Rooftop bar is superb, with epic views over the city to the mountains. Pool is miniscule. Staff mostly friendly and efficient. Room was a little disappointing. Great bed; satisfactory over-bath shower; tiny balcony overlooking busy street. No coffee-making facilities in room.
Just checked in. Booked a double, got given a twin without explanation or apology. Room well below par ( have stayed twice before). Grout in the bathroom tiles is dirty, room lacking any pictures or decoration of any sort. For this price I am far from impressed. Wish Id booked the Ibis - cheaper and better quality.
Great location and the rooftop terrace is great.
Relatively cheap for such a great location. Right in the heart of Granada. There is a rooftop bar with great views and friendly helpful staff.
A beautiful hotel with excellent staff in an ideal location within the city centre of Granada.
Excellent city hotel good service from all departments.Lovely swimming pool on roof large selection for breakfast .
Nice place to stay, in the middle of the city Center. Close to everything. The staff are helpful. Had some issues with the soap dispenser abd they fixed that the day after. The shower was not working the first night so we got a free breakfast as a compensation. The parking is 18euro per night. The swimming pool is to small and can 3x3 meters. Can be full and some people don’t take a shower before they go into the pool. I had only suntan. The non alcoholic cocktails at the restaurant Heaven is a must.
Amazing stay in Granada, Noelia and Nieves are the best staff on the hotel. Congratulations
The room was lovely and its in a great location. The view from the pool upstair is gorgeous. Just know ahead of time that the pool is very small, so it gets crowded easily. Also parking is expensive (£18 per day).
Beautiful hotel, lovely room - great service.
Hotel is in a nice central location in the modern part of town. It is surrounded by shops and restaurants and it is easy to walk everywhere from here. The hotel itself is dated and the rooms are basic but fine. We booked 1 night but to use the hotel just for the daytime before taking a late night flight. If we were staying longer I’d have picked another hotel but as a place to pass a long day pre-flight it was fine. Staff are friendly enough, the rooftop and pool are the highlight - a great place to relax when it’s hot in the middle of the day.
I was supposed to stay 3 nights but we left after 2... The Air Conditioners simply dont work! We were moved to different rooms but the ACs are in terrible shape. We spent 2 really bad nights full of sweat. I never leave reviews but I have decided to let everyone know that this place needs some renovations, specifically the Air Conditioners. I am from the Caribbean and for the past 12 years I have been in Houston, TX. I say my background so you can know that I am not someone spoiled with great and cool weather, I know warm and humidity and this hotel has been the worst. Honestly, the location is great and the staff was great, they tried their best.
The good thing about the hotel is the location, the hotel itself is definitely not a 4 star worth. Rooms are very outdated and really noisy (water pipes, fans, noise from the hallway, you can hear everything...), its not nice to sleep.
Barcelo Carmen Granda, a very nice hotel, the service and the food was very good and the location was great, easy to get around by taxi , bus or walking. The only small problem was the A/C, I couldnt get it any lower than 24c but it was a good time.
I don’t know what version of the hotel those who give less than 5* stayed in but I can’t fault it at all. Rooms very spacious and well maintained as is the halls and corridors. Very good quality of finishing. Gold and marble in decor style. The balcony terrace bar and pool is to die for. On a balmy summer’s evening there is nothing better than to sip a drink with Granada and the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a stunning backdrop. And the staff are so friendly and kind.
Was ok but for me that was disappointing. It was our honeymoon and i spent months and hours upon hours trying to decide the right hotel to stay at in Granada. This hotel and others had such mixed reviews so that’s why it took me so long but I ultimately decided on this one… the location was fine but we paid extra for the room that includes a terrace or balcony as per the website. I had chatted on the website and called months before to ask which price was one that includes a balcony and they told me this one so we paid for that and in the notes asked for a balcony but got a terrace ok I get it thatbalcony isn’t guaranteed so yes we took a chance on it just hoping we’d get lucky and weren’t. But the terrace is weird because you don’t really have a window … you do technically but nothing can be seen out but walls so it feels weird. Like i’d suggest if you can’t get a balcony to just pay for the cheapest room instead. Room was big and bed comfy though so that’s why i’m giving 3 stars for good just would have preferred balcony. Breakfast was good tho although expensive. The one lady in reception was rude to me which i did not appreciate at all. Several others mentioned that in reviews as well. If it wasn’t my honeymoon i’d maybe give 3.5-4 stars. Granadas amazing tho just pick a different hotel.
2 stars are only for location and the convenient parking (and very nice gentleman managing it).I still cant understand how such hotel can be classified a 4* since everything is wrong in this place. I regret I havent read others comments before to book there since I can confirm everything being said :1. Staff at the reception is pretty aggressive and sometimes even rude. Any question is an issue for themnit seems...2. Rooms are very old fashioned, deteriorated : first room we were given didnt even have a window... After complaining they finally changed another one : bad quality, super noisy, only window with direct view on several other rooms... The room had direct access to another one... We had to change nsist so they find a solution to lock it. Unbelievable!!3. Poor equipment in room : no coffee or tee facility, very old TV, no additional equipment.4. The swimming pool is a tourist trap, it is indeed a bath to fit max 3 people and 6 sundeck busy all times or reserved...Would never recommend this hotel and would strongly suggest barcelo to reconsider what they do there. Its a real shame and damage for your brand.
This hotel has a great location, but its a bit tired and not as good as some in the same chain. Rooms are ok, breakfast good, but many rooms with no views and the rooftop bar closes at 9pm! A shame, as Ive always been impressed by the barcelo chain.
Overall a very good experience, the room was clean, nicely laid out and a good price. The let downs were a slightly moody receptionist, the variety of food in the hotel restaurant and the extremely tight car park.
Reception (Maria Jesusis NOT doing a good job. I saw how she treated other clients => that s aggressive and unprofessional.Same with me. I also think they can improve in small details but which has big impact on a client: check what client chose on booking.com bed-wise and give exactly that. In my case the bed I wanted was available (and finally I got it), but was not given me by default, I had to ask again (apart from stating that on booking.com)But giving 4 stars because all other experience with other staff was very good.I really liked also the food on breakfast. Chief is doing a great job. What can be improved: they serve the cheapest black tea, very bad quality. So, forget if u think to enjoy your morning tea there.
Enjoyed our mid week stay here. Great location for exploring the city, we especially like the roof terrace
Given it ,3* but been generous, breakfast was really good as was staff. Rest in need of renovation, pool area, small plunge pool, rest tatty. When booked ask for a upper floor and if had one a nice view, was an anniversary weekend, booked direct with limited choice, should have gone through someone like booking.com.ended up on second flour overlooking a busy street.Room was old and in need of tlc and a upgrade.Sorry wouldnt book it again.
As much as we loved Granada - fabulous, this hotel was a doozie. Apparently a standard room comes with no window...fine...we upgraded to balcony...still no balcony....fine...move again, now got balcony. AC was not working and when I came down and said so to the front desk I was told "Yes, its working....but well send a technician" - dont know if technician came, but nothing changed. Luckily it wasnt so hot outside anymore in September. Calling front desk is also a no, not picking up, perhaps covid related staff shortages. Cannot recommend this hotel, though stayed at Barcelo properties before it they were fine.
Slow check in, bad room at first with smoking smell, no parking as was promised, rooftop bar and pool was ghasly.Bad taste for service during the three days we spent there.Location was great.
Its very hard to rate this hotel because its not that bad but I still decided to give 2 starts for the following reasons.1. The room has absolutey no sound proof. You can hear people talking normally from outside.2. We booked it for the pool but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. It is very small (maybe like 3 adults), its more like a jacuzzi size. And there is no control of the usage. A lot of non hotel guests were using it. There is no covid social distancing control either. At some point, it was simply too crowdy. The pool is attached to the bar, the music was therefore very loud. It is not at all relaxing.3. The room keys. We had two but they kept deactivating so we had to go to the reception several times.POSITIF point:The staff was nice and great location. The bed is comfortable.
I was staying with my partner in this hotel for one night. The hotel was almost empty, check in was OK but the staff was not too friendly. Even thought the hotel was almost empty, it seems that they gave us the worst room with no daylight at all. There was just a very small window to a courtyard. The courtyard itself was totally dark either. I wonder how the pictures on the profile of this room category could be taken but it was definitely far away from the reality. The pool facilities were nice but not too big, unfotunately only a few sunbeds which were occupied all the time. There would be enough space for more. Due to covid all bars and coffee bars were closed in the morning so it was not possible to have a coffee after waking up. The prices of the rooftop bar were average, however the price of a cortatdo coffee (espresso with a little milkwas 3 euros and more than double the price than you normally pay outside. The coffee really tasted awful.
We were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming of the reception; very pleasant and very coronaproof! However, little did we know that on the rooftop and its bar/pool there was no space kept between people, not very coronaproof! Also, we’ve been there three times and all three times we didn’t get a drink because we weren’t allowed to get a drink at the bar and no waiter came up to us... quite the disappointment. The room was big and spacious, but very minimal and old.All in all, OK hotel but definetely not 4 stars! There’s plenty of hotels that have better value for money in Granada!
The room was a little bit old, but the views were good. Staff was really friendly and advised me where to have dinner and local things to see. I guess for the price this is an OK place.
The hotel is good quality for the price, but be warned that the A/C does not work very well; in fact you can try every setting on the thermostat and you’ll only get full heat. This leads to the room being very hot. I had to open a window for air, which also allowed in smoke from the outside. I would stay here again for the right price.
An excellent hotel, located in an ideal spot to see everything in Granada. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, the breakfast buffet was extensive and offered quality and choice. I was in a junior suite and this was fantastic, the terrace was absolutely huge, its just a shame it was January do I couldnt enjoy this more! The mini bar was very reasonably priced as well.
A very much old fashioned room with not enough power sockets no in room tea or coffee making facilities but the room is kind of cosy. The bathroom is in need of updating. Staff are friendly and helpful. The view from the roof is fun. The parking garage is a helter skelter of skill! Since my initial review I now updated my ratings from 2 stars to 3 stars for the rather great breakfast buffet that they do hot and fresh with a wide choice it may take a bit of time!!!!!!!!!!
tl; dr: Decent hotel, very good location with underground parking, but be aware if youre driving as its easy to stray into the restricted area.Pros: The location itself is great, situated on a main road and within walking distance to the historic centre (about 20 mins to the Cathedral), and good tabernas/restaurants nearby, which was ideal for us as we were driving in from Granada and didnt want to deal with traffic restrictions/tiny roads & small car parks. They even park your car for you!Cons: The room layout was strange and soundproofing was poor; even with the window closed, rain falling into the light well woke me up overnight, the next door bathroom being used was audible, and in the morning I could hear guests/staff moving about/talking outside the hall. The air conditioning appeared to be either limited by management or wasnt very powerful; it was uncomfortably stifling overnight (and this is in Oct!and attempts to alter the settings was futile. The rooms are a bit tired and bathroom mouldy in some areas (though not enough to concern me). Finally, the lack of kettle in the room was puzzling; though the staff was happy to bring hot water to the room, or you could go down to the bar and get it, for someone who drinks a lot of tea, this is probably not very practical.Be aware that while the hotel itself is not in a traffic restricted area, you may pass through one if youre driving from some directions; it was only because I saw the signage (in Spanishon the passenger side that we raised this issue with the reception.
My only criticism is that when paying for a suite of rooms at a few hundred euros per night. You DO expect the tea and coffee to be replaced at no extra cost!Great Hotel otherwise and good location.
Visit in mid-SeptemberReally good hotel for a good price.Staff: Front desk welcomed us very warmly and gave us many tips to our many questions.Room: Very clean. We had a nice view from the sixth floor. There were many amenities in the room. Also bathrobes and slippers.Food: Breakfast was very good with a wide choice.Services: The price for parking was 19€/day. After check-out we could store our suitcases with no problem or extra cost.Location: We could walk up to the Alhambra, about 20 minutes, so we saved us the parking fee there.
I had a very good stay in Barcelo Carmen Hotel, in the center of Granada. Nice rooftop with charming view. Staffs are nice and kind, and also I enjoyed my late check-out which was so nice of them. Will definitely come back here.
The pros: Breakfast and the view from the rooftop (when you can enjoy it see cons)The cons: a room not in line with what we booked (twins vs double bedand when we required to change only a very dark room was available. The swimming pool is not at all in line with the pictures (only 8 transats in 10 sqmthe rooftop was full of external people (notably for a birthday). We didnt have the opportunity to have a transat... Very disapointing when you pay for a hotel with a swimming pool.
Had a very nice room at this hotel. Plenty of space, clean and comfortable beds. The bathroom was of generous proportions and the shower screen was easy to use and actually key the floor dry which can be a lottery. I also appreciated the hand railing in the bath/shower which makes access a little easier for older/less mobile folk. The hotel has a rooftop pool/bar area however during our the night stay it was closed one night and booked to a private function on another so it may not be available if you visitThe hotel has a ramp which makes wheelchair and luggage access easier. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the hotel breakfast with plenty of variety. It was one of the best breakfast services during our time in Spain.Cheers and enjoy your stay.
Although I didnt stay at the hotel, I can speak to the rooftop restaurant. What a great view! We had a long Tapas lunch next to the rooftop pool and enjoyed the beautiful Granada April weather. Snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains were the prefect background for wine, friends, and tapas. One of the managers, Claudia, help arrange the lunch for our group and was on hand to greet us and the staff made sure the food kept coming and our wine glasses stayed full! My impression is that this is a great spot for cocktails in the evening...the bar was right there beside the pool. Dont miss this great rooftop bar/restaurant!
This hotel is in a great location. They have parking, but it is 19E per day. However taking the parking is fairly essential as there is no parking on the street anywhere nearby. There are car parks very close but checking their prices would be essential. The hotel is a little bit dated, but it is certainly very acceptable. Out room was overbthe main road, so it was quite noisy until about midnight. I used earplugs which made it fairly easy to sleep.Unfortunately, our room had an issue with temperature control and although during the day everything was fine, at night we couldnt stop hot air being pumped in unless the fans were turned off, but this meant the traffic noise became more of a problem as the fans helped cancel it out.Despite this issue we would stay there again. The staff were nice and helpful, but not all had a reasonable amount if English. We got by with some broken Spanish, but those without that might have more difficulty. Breakfast was good and the tea available at breakfast and at the coffee bar was excellent which have found is not always the case on Spain.
The rooms and the hotel looks very nice. But their are some annoying little things about the hotel. 1- the parking lot is very small and a little bit of a hassle to get to, the hotel will park the car for you. The guy who parked my car scratched it and unfortunately I did not notice until I checked out. 2- some of the receptionist are rude and do not speak English very well and they are annoyed if they could not understand you or when you do not understand them. 3- breakfast was average. 4- rooftop was not open all the time. 5- room is called
The placement is good, however, the hotel is not so good inside. The walls and baths are pretty old. Plus we as a family of three were originally placed in a very (i would say extremelysmall room, which was not designed for three of us, but only for too. As a result the cupboard was unreachable due to the bed staying just at the front of it. Luckily, after the talk with receptionists, they have changed it to the bigger one. Moreover, the emergency exit light is shining too bright just in the eyes when you sleep. The breakfast is OK, but not very good actually. The food is not very tasty, still its possible to find something. The noises from the corridor are too loud, this means you can hear all the children screaming there. The housmaids are extremely strange! They have once taken away our kettle (the kettle and cups are not in the rooms, so we have asked for them), couple of days after they have taken away our cups (not bringing the new oneswith our orange on the saucer. Same day they have tried to place the electrical toothbrush on the charger (yeah, while the electricity is off, when everybody away), but placed it in another direction so it was not that easy to take it of it. Never brought us new soap in the 4 days, so I was permanently asking for it on the reception. As usual, almost nobody speaks English. The opened swimming pool upstairs was cold. If you are not extremely picky this place would be okay, but still not the best.
Very smart and comfortable hotel close to the heart of Grenada. Rooftop terrace and bar was excellent with some good views over the city and up to the hills surrounding it. Food was good as was the service. A very good base from which to explore Grenada.
Nice hotel in the center of Granada. The hotel has been renovated and offers nice rooms. The rooms are a bit small but really new and comfortable. Everything was very clean. Unfortunately there is an orange light in the room that was a bit annoying at night as you can’t switch it off. The rooms aren’t very well isolated so you could hear everything outside but overall it was good. The swimming pool is tiny and jam packed so don’t bother unless you’re dying for a dip.Service was ok.Priced ok.
My husband and I stayed here as one of our stops on our European honeymoon tour. The hotels reputation is truly intact for its luxury. The staff was wonderful! There is absolutely nothing lacking in this beautiful hotel, with its rooftop pool and location directly across the street from El Corte Ingles. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful hotel.
Hotel rooms okay, comfy bed. Roof terrace bar has great views but the service is poor. Waited 20mins for a beer before walking out thirsty. Attempted to make reservation for dinner, was told to go to reception to book, got to reception they then phoned the restaurant back and fourth, 30mins later they weren’t sure if we had a reservation. Disappointing...
The Hotel is well located and it has a polite and kind Staff. It also has cosy and comfortable rooms, but the best of it Id say its Cleaning service. They left the room immaculate even though we wake up late or didnt put the sign on the door to do it. Havent tried food at the hotel although seems good.
An excellent hotel but not the busiest. The hotel could make much more use of its excellent entertainment facilities which are well underused, if at all. A very comfortable hotel with excellent staff and very central location. Easy access and waking distances to everything you might want to see do or visit. Ask at reception they know a lot more about whats on than you might think and offer an affective consierge service.
Perfectly serviceable and clean hotel with helpful staff. Good food terrace but tiny pool really no more than a plunge pool. The photographs do not show true size of pool abd if you actually want to swim it is too small to do so. Bread k fast had a good selection of food for all diets and nationalities.
The room was a little dated and dark but had a huge terrace that overlooked Granada so it was to forgive the decor. The hotel is on a main street with many shops, cafes and restaurants and directly across the road from a shopping centre. Great location and very affordable. The buffet breakfast was extensive. I would happily stay back here again.
Beautiful modern lobby. Rooms were quite small but comfortable. Not a room you would want to spend a great deal of time in other than to sleep and get ready for your day. Thankfully, Granada has many things that will keep you busy outside of your room.
