Built in 1939, this art deco-style downtown hotel is 4 blocks from the Alaska State Capitol Building and 0.5 miles from the Mount Roberts Tramway. The sophisticated rooms all feature free WiFi, flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers. Some rooms add minifridges, microwaves, separate living spaces and pull-out sofas, and studio suites have kitchenettes. There's a casual cafe, a fine-dining restaurant serving modern Northwest cuisine and a cocktail lounge. Fitness facilities, a business center and meeting spaces for up to 300 guests are also available.
This hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. It is clear that it has not been refurbished in years. Probably a much better value at the nearby 4 points Sheraton or BW Grandma’s Featherbed. The online photos can be very misleading. It is not just the rooms that need updating. The lobby area is still very tired looking. It should also be updated as to layout to cater to the heavy volume of cruise people. Carpeting, lighting and furnishings appeared very dated and there was very little co-ordinated effort to make the space appealing.
The hotel was dirty. Carpeting was filthy. Housekeeping never cleaned our room in the 3 days we stayed there. The room charge was $389 a night and they published on website $166, then the next day it was $266. The breakfast buffet was cold. The hotel was awful. When we asked the front desk about the rate, the woman said she would ask the manager. Later she said the manager was not here today. Overall, the worst hotel we have stayed in ever and very expensive.I would warn people to avoid this hotel.
Staying at this hotel was the worst part about our husband/wife getaway to Juneau. It’s the only reason we are not excited to come visit the area again. Poor customer service at the front desk. Generally poorly kept up. Old, dirty carpets and walls. The room itself was small and awkwardly setup (for example, why is the the bathroom mirror offset laterally from the sink?). The bathroom and sheets were clean, but the closet and drawers were not.To me, this is clearly a two-star hotel. The breakfast restaurant was comfortable, well run, and a bit classier than the rest of the hotel. But other than that, it is closer to a motel 6 than any Best Western I’ve stayed at.The location is excellent. Close to shops and activities.I would not recommend anyone stay here if they are visiting Juneau, unless it is a single person trip, and you are limited on other options.
Room had cigarette smoking coming through the vent even though the hotel states there is no smoking allowed. Bathroom had not been cleaned. Restaurant has horrible quality of food. The only best western in Juneau that doesnt have a shuttle for the airport. Will not be staying here ever again.
Just stayed there for 6 nights! Wonderful staff (all the women), customer-oriented, understanding, and super helpful with anything and everything. The place is also a prime location, the rooms are cozy, and you can catch a view of the mountain every way you look. :Highly recommended!
Had an overall good stay for a few nights. Upon entering our room, our toilet seat was broken. There was a standing AC unit vented out a VERY dirty window that didn’t seam to do much because the hotel heating system was broken (stuck onor so we were told. Staff was friendly. Everything else was fine.
Stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Juneau for the first time ever. I love this hotel, I love its history and how quirky it is! Yea the hotel could do with a facelift, however considering it’s survived a pandemic with 2 years of no tourism I’m pleased it’s still open and it’s decor is appealing! We had a king suite on the 7th floor which was lovely, very comfortable bed and room was clean and had everthing you needed. The staff I came into contact with were friendly and they have a massive laundry room you can use for $4! I did not eat here, however enjoyed a drink in the bubble bar which was very nice! Great location as a hotel and we were lucky to have some amazing views of the cruise ships docked.I would happily stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone!
